As soon as we walked into The Mexican, I was greeted by the server, who was friendly and was able to get us seated right away. We ate in the bar/cocktail lounge area. The room was dim lit, beautiful decor and a DJ playing some music- great atmosphere. The server was very informative and kind as well. Not only was the margarita presentation beautiful, it also tasted incredible. It was light, flowery, with a hint of cucumber, which made it very refreshing. When we ordered the Ribeye, we ordered it with mash potatoes but they were out and the server recommended the coliflor which was a great recommendation and so happy receive that instead of the mash potatoes. You also can't go wrong with the ribeye, we got it medium rare, which it came out perfectly and they were able to slice it up for me and my partner. The ribeye also came with smashed roasted garlic and a citrusy type sauce but honestly the ribeye tasted great by itself. At the end, the restaurant treated me with a birthday dessert, Cuarto Leches, I wasn't sure what to expect but I could not stop eating it. One of the main things I appreciate about The Mexican is that prior to our reservation, they sent a text describing their dress code. I am so sick and tired of going to high end restaurants and dining with people that look like trash. It felt good to dine with an establishment that has standards. Upon arrival, you may notice that parking is limited, but they do offer complimentary valet. Just because it is free, you still have to be courteous and tip. Once you enter, you are engulfed with the liveliness of the restaurant, the sweet hostesses, the roaring bar and most importantly, the beautifully dressed patrons of Dallas. The Mexican is huge with plenty of seating to accommodate large groups. The bathroom is also spacious and bright, maybe a little too bright, so ladies, you have been warned. As soon as we were seated, we were greeted by our lovely waitress whose name I wish I could remember because she was so sweet and beautiful. She kept calling me "my love" and it was very genuine. We got the party started with the El Rey which was fire and delicious as was the La Niña Fresa. For starters the guacamole and chips and salsa trio were amazing as was the hamachi sashimi and the sea bass ceviche. We chose the langosta enchiladas for dinner and I was not that wowed by it. It had a sweet taste that I was not expecting. I am a huge fan of tres leches and was in love with the cuattro leches. The next time I am in Dallas, I will for sure be coming back. read more

We are in town for a Cheerleading competition and when we drove down the street we couldn't help but notice the gorgeous restaurant from the street. I googled it when we got back to our hotel and was able to get a resy for Saturday night at 5pm. Early but grateful! From the moment we walked in the ambiance was stunning. We were sat at a round table (my favorite) with a lazy susan in the center making it easy to share dishes. The food was incredible!! We got the barbacoa tacos and wagyu fajitas. The best part of our experience was our server Eddie!! He made EVERYTHING so much fun and was so helpful with the menu. Hands down one of the best experiences we've ever had at a restaurant. We had the pleasure of visiting The Mexican while traveling to Dallas from San Diego. Not going to lie, I went in with low expectations because I've always heard how different Mexican food is in Texas verses Southern California. We arrived at 8:15pm for our reservation. Unfortunately, we didn't know that our reservation for 8 wasn't confirmed due to missing some of the steps in the process. FYI, if you have a larger group you need to open your email and continue following the last steps otherwise your reservation will not go through. Upon speaking with the nice manager, Ashley (the blonde), she was able to fit us in 30 minutes later. Upon walking to our table we were pleasantly surprised that our group was placed in a private dining room that looked like it fit 8-12 people. It was beautiful and super private for our loud bunch! Immediately we were greeted by our amazing waiter Wayne, or as we called him, pinche Wayne (I'll explain later!). We were asked if the group was interested in a tequila tasting while eating some appetizers. Of course we said yes! Four of us shared two tequila flights and we all participated in a very fun learning experience with Alejandro. Who knew we've been drinking tequila wrong all these years! For appetizers we ordered the chicharron de ribeye, queso fundido, crispy pork belly, and the barbacora de arrachera. All of these appetizers were delicious! For dinner we ordered sea bass ceviche, enchilada camarones, camarones Gobernador, cowboy ribeye, black angus tacos, and the Parmesan truffle fries. Once again, everything was good and we had no complaints. By the end of the night we got to learn about the wonderful company culture (how the kitchen staff and waiters/waitresses add "pinche" to the front of their names out of love) and loved how everyone seemed genuinely happy to be around each other - which is hard to find these days! Everything about our experience was great. We enjoyed celebrating my friends birthday at The Mexican and will be back again next time we are in Dallas. P.S. Girlssss don't skip the bathroom. Very disappointed. This place came highly recommended from coworkers and I wish we went to torchy's tacos instead. The beef tenderloin tacos were ground beef and had no flavor. My boyfriend got the bone marrow and filet tacos and there was no marrow in the bone. The guac and salsa flight was good, otherwise it would have gotten a one star rating. The gentlemen that filled the water glasses were kind and attentive, but that was about it for service. My boyfriend and I had an 8:30pm reservation on 8/12/2022. We arrived about 20 minutes early and turned our vehicle over to the valet. Nice right, WRONG! Inside the host said oh, you're too early you have to wait until 8:30 to be seated. Ok, no problem with waiting. After being seated the safe was nice and attentive and the food was okay. I had the Lobster Enchiladas which was a little too salty for me, but the Lobster Elote was amazing. We ended the night with a complementary slice of Tres Leche Cake for my honey's birthday. Here's where the one star comes in. After dinner our car was returned to us and we went home as normal. As I am gathering my things out of the car, I realized SOMETHING WAS MISSING. My prescription Versace sunglasses. I had them on as we drove and took them before exiting the car and I placed them behind the cup holder. They took a pair of glasses that they will never be able to do anything with unless the are almost BLIND. Your possession are not safe with their valet staff. If you choose visit The Mexican ensure that you take anything of value with you inside or leave it at home. Because if you don't when you come out it will be gone. My boyfriend called to report this and was told very nonchalantly that they would investigate the issue and get back to us. We have yet to here back from anyone regarding the matter at hand as of 2/15/2022.
