The dress code here is insane. At 4pm am turned away because I'm not business casual enough (restaurant was empty). They suggested I return home and change and then come. Worth noting that it's summer in texas and a whopping 105 degrees. I can respect you have a dress code, but with a vague description of what that entails on your website and the attitude of the staff, this was a complete turn off. What a really fun restaurant! The Mexican is so very cool in so many ways. The ambiance / vibe is electrifying. From walking in the front door to going to the back patio. This a beautiful restaurant. I can see why they are in the final stage of becoming the prettiest restaurant in the world. The food is just as stellar. The staff was so accommodating as well. As we had our grand daughter with us and they were able to move our party of six to a quieter area. If there is one restaurant in Dallas I would recommend it is this one. Check it out! The ambiance, atmosphere, and look of this restaurant is top notch. Thats about it, everything else is unremarkable. They have all the dishes that you'd want (some are doing too much) but they're so bland. Like unbelievably bland for what you'd expect with a restaurant that looks the way it does. Had dinner on 1/20/24. I would say we agree wholeheartedly with the D Magazine 7/2023 review. However they forgot to mention that dishes came out real fast, Olive Garden fast. The two stars are for the service only. Interestingly, I ordered a gin & tonic but had a $3 charge added to the drinks. Got an explanation but did not make sense, since my wife ordered a margarita but was not charged $3. Also, with our dishes the lobster elote was served thinking it was a side dish to the king crab enchiladas it was good, but when the check came $30 later we figured it was not a side dish. I went to this restaurant for dinner. I was very unimpressed, I don't think this is a place I would go to for dinner. It's more of a drinks and apps place if anything. Had been looking forward to eating at the Mexican! We went for a girls night and didn't have a great experience. Our waitress took forever with everything. We asked for a bottle of wine and they brought us 1 glass, by the time we got our wine we had our entrees. The salsa dips they bring you are yummy! We ordered a few appetizers which were decent. The server took forever to take the first course order. The appetizers took forever to come to the table and so did the food order. When the food arrived it was very cold and had to be sent back. Will never come back here again. I have been here 3 times and all 3 times the dark haired Manager Eddie has been extremely rude and dismissive to me and my group. Apparently it's an on going thing with him since most people I know have this same experience with him after I tell them my experience. Also, if you don't have a reservation they tell you that you can sit anywhere in the bar area or high tops, apparently those are reserved too, yet in the front they say it's "open" seating. This year, I've visited Dallas twice. The first time, The Mexican, was recommended as a great Mexican restaurant that was recently opened. My husband and I decided to give it a try. The experience was amazing! Both the service and the food was excellent. It was so good, that we made a point to go back the next time we came to Dallas despite the fact that is a ton of good restaurants in Dallas to choose from. The cocktails are very creative too. The experience is pricey but definitely worth it. We are from Napa and would love to have a restaurant like this in our area. read more

Update- I changed my review from 1 stars to 3 stars after speaking with the owner. She seems to really care. I will update again once my wife and I give The Mexican another shot. My wife and I were excited to come here for my birthday dinner. We will not be coming back. Atmosphere was cool and the bartender was great, but once we sat down at our table, it went downhill fast. Our server was extremely pushy, which made the night uncomfortable for us both. He kept recommending things that we repeatedly told him we didn't like. The queso fundido was okay but not very warm. The carne asada tacos were dreadful. The steak was cut in to tiny little cubes and they were overdone. My wife's shrimp tacos were bland too. I've had better Mexican food at our local place which is half the price. The margaritas tasted great, but were the most watered down margaritas we have ever had going out to drink. We could not have left there more disappointed than we did last night. What a shame. read more

I have black slacks and black jacket and black over $330 pair of nice shoes ... I walk in and ask for a table of 1, the hostess looks me up and down and says we have a dress code here - business casual - I politely said, I am business casual but I just came from work -- she then says they have no tables which was not true-- she directs me to the bar and state that I can sit anywhere or at a cocktail table -- I say ok, found a table and proceeded sit -- another waitress walks over and I again ask if it's ok if I sit down -- she say we'll I guess it's ok -- I'm like what in the hell going on here !! Again looking me up and down as if I do not have enough money to spend in their restaurant--the waitress comes over and explains the drink menu and specialty drink of the night and I order a margarita - a couple sits down next to me and the waitress proceeds to go over the menu specials, drinks etc ....I had to ask her to order food and when she came to the table -- then proceeded to tell me I could only order appetizers and noting from the full menu-- at this point I'm down with the disrespect and call a manager -- a nice gentleman comes over and talks to me apologizes for my experience -- didn't catch his name -- he tried to comfort me but I was beside myself with the treatment I had received -- he says let me get my general manager who comes over and was even more rude - Eddie Althaus - decided that he would defend his staffs behavior and let me know that they were doing their job -- excuse me sir, your job is to make every person feel welcome in your restaurant that did not happen --- I also witnessed other ladies walking in in tennis shoes, ripped jeans nothing was said to those people -- I have never been treated so poorly by an establishment in my entire life --attitude is a reflection of leadership and they clearly behave exactly like their general manager -- I will not return and I will tell all of my friends my experience -- we all live in the area From the looks of previous reviews many others have been treated the same way --- here in Texas we have something called southern hospitality it doesn't matter your price point !! My friends and I had dinner, and it wasn't what we expected. We got an email reminding us to dress according to the dress code, and if we didn't we would be turned away at the door. When we walked in, so many people weren't dressed accordingly. We sat down and our server came and took our drink order. It took him a while to come get our food order, and 3 of the items that we chose weren't available. We weren't told about them not being available until we asked for them. The food portions were small, 2 enchiladas for $28. Most of the food was just bland. We got the dessert menu and we ordered a drink off the menu, only to be told that the bar was closed. We were never told that it was final call for the bar at any point. It was a disappointing experience for us, we enjoy eating at new places, and this is one place we won't return. read more
