A classic Adirondack restaurant that has changed their menu in recent years. I went here for the first time over 10 years ago and enjoyed it and we enjoyed it this time too. We were a party of 11 and they happily put 3 tables together for us. Our waiter was very friendly, accommodating and professional. There was something for everyone on our party. I had the prime rib on a wick roll. The meat was a little well done for my taste but otherwise good. It came with homemade chips and of course aus jus. I tried a bite of the pork Schnitzel sandwich it was served with pepper Jack cheese and onion, bacon jam, very savory. My niece had an ahi tuna and seaweed plate and my cousin had the flat iron steak. It was cooked to his liking. The fries were homemade and crispy. This is solid American food that we all enjoyed at a decent price for a "nicer" restaurant in the area. They aren't reinventing the wheel but it's a pleasant setting with good staff and decent food.

I returned to this restaurant and ordered the ahi tuna again- this time it was very over-cooked. Also the onion strings on my boyfriend's (over-cooked) steak were very stale. The soft pretzel was great.. maybe we just came on an off-night. Although we really enjoyed our dinner, the food just did not live up to the outstanding meal we got last time we ate here

Prime rib is served on Saturday nights.

Used to love going to the old mill as a kid with the big pot of soup and salad, but this has sadly changed. It has been years since I've visited, so I'm not sure when the changes occurred. We went to the hostess station to wait, and noticed a party ahead of us, no big deal. But the waiting area is small, so we tried to move out of the way. The hostess was nowhere to be found for at least 5 minutes. While we waited, another group came in behind us. When the hostess finally came back to her station, she took down the other party's info before ours. Okay, we won't fuss. We decided to go out to the bar area to get a drink and wait for our table. We looked over the menu. The bartender was very nice and accommodating. When our table was finally ready, it was pretty clear they were short staffed. The porch dining was quite full, but the dining room inside wasn't anywhere near capacity. However, it seemed there were only 2 servers on. We sat for quite awhile before our server came over. We even overheard the hostess asking if he had forgotten about us. He had. Once he came over, the meal was quite pleasant. We started with the deep fried deviled eggs, which were good. The prime rib was very good. Our kid's pot roast was very good. Husband said his prime rib sandwich was less than exciting and thought the fries were better. It was just a piece of meat between 2 slices of decent bread. Thought it was weird there was nothing else on it. Prices were a bit high for what it was. All in all, the food was pretty good and service wasn't bad once we got some. I do miss the old mill, but this one might not be bad after working out the kinks.

DO NOT ORDER FROM HERE!! Trust me...you're better off eating cereal at home. The chicken parm was so gross!! The linguini had NO FLAVOR and the chicken was HUGE and rock hard. I want my money back.

Very cold and tasted very good

The restaurant consistently provides not only good service and good food but makes sure all local rules about Covid are enforced. VERY CLEAN with these new plexiglass partitions on the bar. Amazing place

    Huge pretzel

Loved the food. The pretzel was amazing and huge. We all loved our entreees, you get a ton, it was a bit pricey but the value was great. Drinks aren't absurdly priced and the waitress was super nice. I'd recommend it to anyone in old forge.

Bartender was friendly and chatted with us for a quick minute as he served a large crowd. The burgers that went by as we stood there looked scrumptious and huge. I would venture to say the food must be good based on the looks of it and the size of the dining crowd. When we sat outside with the gorgeous view from the upper deck people below were getting pizzas that also looked delicious and I'd say about 18" with fresh looking ingredients. I cannot attest to flavor but the smells were awesome. Next time we will stop later and grab a bite for dinner.

The place…read morewas packed, there was a line - but I scored a counter seat right off, and placed my order for a biscuit with gravy, some corned beef hash, and a coffee. This would end up costing my $17 and change, expensive and not a good value. The food was served cold, clearly not made in house, and service was indifferent at best. Go someplace else, like one of the restaurants in Inlet, about 5 miles up canyon. Getting wait staff attention for some coffee was the first challenge and indication of the pending experience. The food took over 45 minutes to come out, even for such a simple order, and the 2 times I was able to grab attention for a coffee refill really felt like I was imposing on someone. The gravy arrived cold - not "was on the warmer for a while" cold, but "we just got this out of the walk-in" cold, and returned from a brief trip through a shower of microwaves barely warmed. The corned beef hash was clearly scooped out of a can on to the grill and was a small portion for the price. All while while trying to inject myself between wait staff and their indifference to get coffee, check, warmed gravy, water refill, etc. 7 minutes after leaving I drove past a few restaurants in Inlet, with less crowding and looking just as quaint as Keyes. I'll try there next time I'm through this area. Definitely not Keyes!

He came around to every table and there seemed to be a bunch of regulars as we sat in the lounge. Most importantly, the food was terrific- I had a queen cut delmonico that was cooked perfectly. That being said the staff were very friendly and efficient, they took great care of us. There is two sides to sit, bar or restaurant. We choose restaurant, from here you can see your food coming up for service and it pretty much ensures your meal comes to you hot and quickly. We had the lobster Mac and cheese and a Delmonico steak. I had a starter portion of the Mac and cheese and it was huge !! It could have had a few more pieces of meat but it was tasty and cheesy. My husbands steak was cook perfectly, juicy and had good flavor. On this my only note would be a salad should come with it, not be a substitute for a veg, but I'm sure thats to do with today's price points. Our meal with drinks, about $70+ and for the food fair, the bottle of soda at $5 was a little steep. All in all a nice place to stop and eat/relax and we enjoyed ourselves, we come to the area from time to time and will stop again.
