Came for the steaks but ended up choosing Prime Rib (excellent!!Loved the broccolini) and the salmon ('perfectly cooked, delightful crust, creamy cheesy risotto). I'm a local, and I've been here more than a few times. Sometimes the high-end steaks are worth the price, and other times you wonder why they think that they can get away with that crap. Obviously, it must depend on the chef of the day. The burgers are consistent, but the more expensive steaks can be a total waste of your time and $$$. But, honestly, how hard is it to make a decent burger? I will be going there tonight for a celebratory meal, and I really hope we get the better end of the spectrum...but you never can tell with this eatery. You might get a great meal, or you might get a pile of shit that you are too embarrassed to complain about, even though you just paid $50 for the insult. Fingers crossed. read more

Ordered filet mignon and it was definitely not tender, over cooked, burned on one side, and had a blackened taste to it. My daughter ordered the braised beef and it was very stringy and tough. This is not the Mint from years ago that you could count on. The french onion soup had no flavor and was covered in an inch of unrecognizable cheese. First visit back to this fixture in a couple of years. Ambience was lovely and warm, the staff friendly and professional. If you like a traditional western steak house vibe, then you might like this place. There were four of us in our party, and we all ordered different dishes. We enjoyed the fine variety of wines and local beers. Our experience with food: Onion ring appetizer: thin strips battered, fried, and served with a sauce. Heavy but delicious. Stroganoff: excellent beef, well prepared pasta, but with a huge dollop of sour cream dominating the plate. Roasted chicken: delicious, simple plate. Steaks: a ribeye for me, a tenderloin for another member of the party. The most disappointing aspect of the experience. I ordered mine 16oz medium rare, and it was neither. It was overdone by far and served warm, not hot--cool enough for fat to be congealed on top. I'd say it was 10oz before cooking. The tenderloin was also way overdone. All of these protein entrees should be served with some sort of veggie--as it was, plates were pretty sparse as to presentation. My hunch is that our plates were not ready at the same time, so the meat had to sit. This indicates a need for better kitchen coordination--I don't think this was on our server, who was great. My husband and I went to this establishment for Valentine's Day, and we were very satisfied with our chicken fried steak. Despite not having quite the flavor we anticipated, it had a beautifully browned crust and it was a huge piece of thick beef. The Brussel sprouts were tasty as were the potatoes. First I think they have the best happy hour deal in the valley. 6 items all half off and I think 6 drinks each $1 off. We love it for that reason. We love the poutine, coffee BBQ pork sliders, cod fingers homemade chips all very good. Today I had the soup of the day and it was a curried cauliflower. So good! Right amount of curry and it was so tasty and filling. My son had the prime rib and loved it. It did have more fat that he is used to but what he ate was so good. His words. The only thing he did not like was the au jus very vinegar tasting and because so much it made the potatoes hard to enjoy since it covered the whole plate. Ended up here while visiting nearby Bozeman, MT based on a recommendation by a colleague. Very cool spot that is much bigger on the inside than it looks from the outside. Hostesses and server were extremely friendly. Gender neutral restrooms- always a plus. The tomato soup and grilled cheese were very good- a twist on a classic. My colleague enjoyed the chicken fried steak. Overall, a pleasant surprise! read more

I had the meatloaf, and it was delicious! The portion was pretty small, compared to their chicken plate. 3 of my friends had the steak. None of them were able to eat more than half of it because of it being either undercooked or too much fat, so obviously that's pretty disappointing, especially when that was their special for the night. Overall it wasn't BAD food, and the service was excellent. But a bit of a bummer in general. read more

Now three stars only because the food took forever!!! We waited almost an hour from ordering to eating. Not a good night for their kitchen. Another table waited even longer. That said, the servers and managers were extremely attentive and acknowledged the issue throughout our wait. And if the manager hadn't paid for 1/2 of our bill this would be one star. Luckily, they made up for the wait and the steaks, soup, salad, and apps were top notch. They even offered to buy dessert but we'd been there for so long we couldn't wait any longer. Wow. Was extremely impressed with our experience last night. Excellent service. Immediately seated at our reservation time. Great decor and use of space. Was looking for a new place to take some out of town family (with high expectations) to dinner and it ended up being their favorite place we've taken them to over many visits. Great menu that met the needs of 2 kids as well as 2 grandparents 75+ years old. The night before we could barely hear each other talk at a Bozeman restaurant (seems like a common issue these days) but we found The Mint to be quiet and comfortable. First let me say the bartenders tonight 01/23, Jared and Scott were the best. I never had to wait on a drink or water. The happy hour specials were inexpensive. Tonight was Taco Tuesday, for $11 you get 2 tacos, rice, and beans. This is a very reasonable price. I will definitely be back. read more

Very underwhelming. I've heard this place was supposed to be a great experience, however it started rough from the moment we walked in. This was my birthday dinner and we had a party of 7. Pros: Nice big table to sit at comfortably. The food that was cooked good was good (apps, salads, drinks). The manager saw a problem and I noticed he was actively attempting to make things better. Cons: Steaks - for being a steakhouse and spending a good amount on steaks I'd expect them to know what medium rare is. No ones steaks were cooked to order. Meat was also not excellent quality, tough and chewy. Loud, basic atmosphere. I just wasn't impressed with the establishment. Belgrade-if I have to drive or spend time here, it best be worth it. Belgrade really needs a revitalization of downtown. Server was clueless. It was apparent she was just trying to get us out. Rude. Interrupted us multiple times. It was disappointing because I've heard a lot of good hype about this establishment. Maybe we just had a bad roll of the dice, but that was our experience. read more

Okay, this place was HIGHLY recommended and we decided to give it a try. The wait was reasonable for a Friday night but the food was lackluster. The meatloaf was blah, the mashed potatoes so full of butter and seasoning they lost the flavor of the potato, the green beans were good. The clam chowder was thicker than glue, lukewarm and l wasn't even asked why l didn't eat it. The beef stroganoff meat was tough, the gravy tasted like premix and the pasta undercooked, there was a huge scoop of sour cream that didn't add any further appeal or better taste. Really enjoyed my dinner here. It was a bit of a wait but it was a really nice dinner. The shrimp scampi portion was the perfect size but the linguine was a bit over cooked. The soups were very yummy too. They were able to provide vegan options as well, which is a rare find! I found that the drinks were tasty and well priced. We got Moscow Mules and whiskey straight.
