Went on a Saturday night and was looking forward to a good steak. Prime rib was the special. So I got and so did my aunt and what a disappointment! It was so tough and I could Barely cut a piece off and no flavor and chewy. My aunts was the same. Mashed potatoes were good. I have been to the Mint Cafe twice now once in August of 2012 and again in December of 2016. Both times I have been extremely satisfied with the quality of the food, service and drinks. This review will focus on the more recent visit of December 2016. We arrived at The Mint around 6:30 pm on Saturday night and were seated promptly upon arrival with no reservation. We had a party of three, we ordered two French onion soups, a cup of New England clam chowder and a shrimp cocktail to get started. The soups were fantastic and the shrimp cocktail was impressive for a landlocked state. From there we ordered our steaks, three ribeye steaks: two medium rare and one medium. They were cooked to the perfect level. We also ordered the sides of green beans, mashed potatoes and macaroni and cheese. The mac and cheese was remarkable. I strongly recommend the chimichurry as a steak sauce option; it was so fresh and added something special to the meal. Our waitress was very knowledgeable and gave us the recent history of the restaurant since our last visit. She informed us that the Mint had changed ownership three times since 2012 and had a brief stint as a midget mud wrestling biker bar which was interesting to learn! The Mint Cafe is a great choice for anyone staying in the Belgrade area or even passing through. It is a very nice steakhouse full of locals and great times. read more

Went here to try. Service was nice and friendly food came out quickly. Tried the steak fingers with mustard dip very tasty dip. Meat was nice a bit chewy but ok. I ordered the 6 oz steak medium rare came out well the mashed potatoes were obviously over beaten but still were decent. One of my dinner companions had the fish and chips, it came with 2 pieces of fish pretty substantial in size and crispy outer layer encasing a flaky white fish. I don't generally leave Yelp reviews, but our trip to The Mint definitely needs one. My wife and I were blown away with our experience. The detail: my wife and I are from NYC and had just spent 4 days eating our way through San Francisco. We came to visit family in Bozeman and they took us to The Mint right when we landed. They told us it reopened under new management in late 2015, and they are restoring The Mint to its past glory. Our dinner was delightful. I hadn't eaten since breakfast so I treated myself to a five course meal and each course was fantastic. I started with a cup of the NE Clam Chowder. Very chunky ingredients with good consistency. I had tried some clam chowder in Fishermans Wharf a few days earlier and this was significantly better. To start, my wife and I split the onion rings and Lobster risotto (a special for that day) which were both amazing. Our waitress told us that the onion rings were an original Mint recipe from the 90s that they brought back under the new ownership. The house salad was... A house salad. Simple and good. I would recommend the beet vinaigrette. Never seen it before as an option, but it was very tasty. I ordered the 16oz ribeye medium rare as an entree. They did a hard sear and served it at a perfect temperature. Ribeye is my favorite steak and this is one of the best I have had. On par or better than some of the top steakhouses I have been to in New York. I got au jus on the side but didn't need it at all... The steak had enough flavor on its own. Noah, one of the new owners, visited our table twice and did a great wine pairing with the Steak. We had a brief discussion about wine and he definitely knows his stuff. We finished our dinner with a chocolate cake and cheese cake. We were way too full to finish the deserts but that is not for lack of wanting to. Needless to say, I highly recommend visiting the Mint at least once if you are coming to Bozeman. Whether you are going to Big Sky or Yellowstone it is close enough to the airport to warrant a stop. read more

WOW!!! To quote others, the new owners at The MINT really DO know what they're doing! The food is incredible! I worked in restaurants for many years, so I have the bar set pretty high. The atmosphere is classic cowboy! I'm a serious history buff, and I love that they're sticking to many of The Mint's 112 year traditions, right down to the Gibson Guitars displayed on the walls. To start...I wanted one of EVERYTHING on the menu!!! They managed to hit all the food groups beautifully! The WEDGE Salad was a meal in itself! Of course everything is better with Montana Bacon, but the Iceberg was super fresh..and cold. Served with roasted Roma Tomatoes (new to me) really delicious...and just enough Blue Cheese Dressing...NOT overdressed! I was impressed again with my husband's House Salad of generous baby greens from the Chef's home garden, lightly dressed with their wonderful Beet Vinaigrette. My PRIME RIB was fabulous!...cooked to order, a warm pink center with plenty of skirt...my fave. Mmmm. And enough leftover for tomorrow's sandwiches! My husband got the Local Bone-In Double-Cut PORK CHOP. Spectacular! And we both ordered the STEAK FRIES! Ok...all I can say is that this Chef obviously knows the secret of twice cooked! They were hand-cut and crispy. I ate them ALL, and I never do that! Three days later we had to go back to try the SCALLOP Special and the MAHI MAHI with Pineapple & Avocado and Broccoli Flowers. They hit the mark again!! This time we had room for the artistic desserts. I'm a chocoholic, so in heaven with the Flourless Chocolate Cake w Honey Vanilla Bean Mascarpone and Berry Coulis. But I found myself stealing bites of my husband's White Chocolate Cheesecake. Afterwards a digestif was in order...they have quite the selection! the food is good and standard for Montana but the service was a joke. I went out with 4 friends and our food didn't come for over an hour and salads came with sardines that were asked to have it without. When asked where it was, they blamed it on a cold grill. The restaurant was almost empty and they didn't try to make up for it at all. In fact, they forgot to put in a to-go order one of us had placed, then asked if we still wanted it when we asked for the check. Just be warned, it might be a looooong wait, even if you're the only one there. read more

This place has always been a top notch place but my recent visit was disappointing. Seems like prices and portion sizes changed. I understand the price change but portions should be a constant for restaurants. I got the prime rib special they run on weekends which has never let me down. This time it was a a pretty small portion including the sides. I understand COVID has been pretty difficult so I gave a 4 instead of a 3 star. Disappointing. I was looking forward to eating here after enjoying dinner at Back Country Burger in Bozeman, with the same owners. While The Mint has a much higher price, the quality was much lower. My husband had to ask for his tea twice before it was brought to the table. Our waters went empty without being refilled. The top of my $37 steak tenderloin was so over cooked it was black and crunchy. The middle was cooked how I asked, medium, but I had to cut the top off to render it edible. I also ordered an extra side (Mac & Cheese) instead of soup or salad before my meal. The waitress said it would be "a little extra" which I said was fine. My dinner came and there was no macaroni. Then the bill came and I was charged $4.50 for macaroni I never received! When I told the waitress she said sorry and gave us a new bill. We will not be returning. read more

This place is great!! We had a group of 6 and sat at table 11 (quiet more secluded area towards the back) with Alisha as our server. She was absolutely wonderful and kept tabs on our water, food, she gave us time to pick out what we wanted, and was on top of our drinks. I had a raspberry cosmo - delicious! The second one I had was a little different (a little too sweet for me) so one of the employees (I believe he may have been one of the owners - Scott) took my cosmo to make me a new one. The raspberry cosmo he made was AMAZING!!! The lemon, raspberry, and vodka flavors were the perfect blend. I was also a little skeptical that they would be able to make the perfect medium rare steak.... but to my surprise, it was PERFECT! We have been to the Mint several times in the last couple of months. The service continues to be phenomenal. One of the servers has an abundance of tattoos along with an abundance of knowledge and skill. A recent visit found them sold out of Pinot, the manager provided a glass that wasn't on the menu and it was delightful. We will continue to go back and enjoy the delicious food and amazing service. The only suggestion I could make is to add a few more appetizer specials so we can experience more varieties of the chef's creations. read more
