Everything we ordered was absolutely delicious. From the warm bread and butter, to the daily soup special (albondigas), to the wedge salad, and then my beef stroganoff, it was SO GOOD. Most items like their bread and pasta are made in house, and it shows through the flavor and quality of their food. This is a great date night location with warm lighting and a relaxing ambiance. Giving this review 4 stars instead of 5 because our server was not the vibe. They appeared overwhelmed, frantic, forgetful and chaotic. The server said they have worked there for years so it wasn't like they were new in their position. The demeanor and behavior of the server took away from the experience. We had dinner here last night. First thing we noticed was that it was very cold. A strong AC breeze was hitting us. We moved to another table on the other side of the restaurant but it was just as bad. I saw a lady at the bar pull a ski cap on and then eventually pull her parka hoodie on too. I eventually asked them to turn down the AC and they did. I think they were short-staffed. Servers and the manager were running around. The vibe was anxious. Not good for a relaxed dining experience. Our server was friendly and attentive. I ordered the burger. I thought this was a safe choice. I asked for medium rare and got well done. My friend ordered a burger too and wanted it medium. We both got grey, unjuicy, pucks of meat. The fries were not great either. My other friend ordered the baby back ribs. I smoke ribs all the time and know the difference between a good rib and a bad rib. These were boiled. Rubbery and bland. Another strange thing, they said they don't take walk-ins. The dining room was not even a quarter full. The restaurant closes at 9 pm. The manager locked the doors at 8 on a holiday weekend. Several couples tried the door and were turned away. I've never seen a restaurant not want customers. Hey, owner, you should ask why they are doing this. You're losing customers and money. I overheard the hostess say they are the sister restaurant to the Restaurant on Convict Lake. That's a great restaurant. We ate there the night before. If I were them, I'd stop advertising that. Made reservations on Open Table to celebrate our friend's birthday here. I also called to let the host know that we were celebrating a birthday and if that can be noted. We arrived and were greeted warmly by our host and seated at a table in front of the fireplace. The restaurant is very small and cozy. Our server took our drink orders and brought out a bread basket. We all ordered the following: - Soup of the day (loaded baked potato) - short rib fries - oven roasted Frenched chicken breast - chicken Parmesan - pan seared chinook salmon - shrimp scampi There was a small hiccup when my 10-year-old son noticed another table had been served chicken tenders and fries. We weren't offered a kids' menu, so he had ordered chicken Parmesan from the regular menu. Not a huge issue, but it would have been nice to know kid-friendly options were available. Unfortunately, service timing became more of a problem toward the end of the meal. After we had mostly finished eating, our server asked if we wanted to see the dessert menu. We said yes, and I gently reminded her we were celebrating a birthday. When she returned, she brought a complimentary birthday dessert with a candle (very thoughtful gesture!) but our dinner plates, empty glasses, and general table clutter were still in front of us. We also still hadn't seen the dessert menu we'd asked for, which made the moment feel rushed and a bit awkward. Needless to say, our server seemed to catch on that I was disappointed in the service towards the end of our meal. It seemed like she was the only server on the floor, too, which probably explained the lack of attentiveness and timing issues. Overall, the food was alright and everyone enjoyed their meals. It was an okay dining experience but the service could definitely use some improvement. For a restaurant with higher menu prices and a more upscale presentation (linen napkins, cozy ambiance, etc.), the level of service didn't quite match my expectations. Came here with a reservation after a full day of snowboarding and were seated immediately, which was a great start. Alonso was our waiter and honestly made the whole experience. Super friendly, attentive, and took the time to walk us through the beer options while we already had our food picked out. Service like that makes a difference. We started with the mushroom soup (soup of the day). It was fully blended and smooth -- no big chunks -- and while it wasn't the most memorable soup ever, it definitely hit the spot after being out in the cold all day. The Oyster Rockefeller was the highlight. Perfectly done. The oysters tasted fresh, the spinach flavor came through nicely, and the crispy topping added the perfect crunch. I planned to have just one... ended up eating two. For the main, we ordered the steak medium well. It came out more charred on the outside than expected, so it wasn't amazing, but still solid. The fries were great though -- especially paired with beer. Overall, the food was good but not extraordinary. However, the service -- especially from Alonso -- really elevated the experience. Because of that, and the cozy post-snowboard vibe, this earns 5 stars. read more

We were staying at Convict Lake Resort and were hoping to eat at the CL Restaurant but it was closed for the past 2 weeks. I found out they have a sister-restaurant so I figured if it were anything like the CL Restaurant, it would be demand Morrison's did not disappoint. We made reservations and were lucky as it appears they only take a couple tables a night. There appears to be one waiter serving all the tables, however, he did a good job. Food was good and the Maple Old Fashioned was made just right. 5 stars read more

The main reason for a 3 rather than a 4 is the interior design/ambience: it's lovely inside, but the bar is part of the smallish dining room, separated only by a waist-high wall. That means an anticipated quiet dinner was, instead, subjected to sports TV, too loud music, and the high-pitched cackle of a girls' night out (as a woman, I will freely admit that some women have obnoxiously high-pitched voices). The noise was even worse when the male patrons appeared for an after-work drink and flirting ensued (I may have taken a video or two to share with my friends, maybe). The service was good, although the waiter misunderstood our order, he quickly fixed his error. My husband thoroughly enjoyed his salmon, although my beef stroganoff was more average. Having said all this, we would still go back for another meal. read more

It was our first time dining at Morrison's in Mammoth Lakes. We dined on March 1st with a dinner reservation. At first glance Morrison's reminded me of a ski town chalet type restaurant. Lots of wood and super cozy. When we arrived, there were only 2 tables seated in the entire restaurant. Yet, they chose to sit us in the back by the restrooms and an open door to the kitchen. First, what restaurant these days sit patrons by a restroom and a kitchen unless it is an open concept kitchen where you can watch the chefs prepare meals, etc.? There was nothing dividing the dining tables from the doors to the restrooms or kitchen. We were one table away staring directly at the bathroom doors. I felt terrible for the two people immediately sat after us next to the restrooms. I could see the disappointment in their face. We decided not to make a fuss as our waitress, Gabby, immediately greeted us and she was very pleasant, had a big smile and seamed very friendly. We sat down and ordered two dirty martinis, blue cheese olives, very cold. When they arrived, they were just as asked, very cold, delicious. However, when we received the bill, we noticed we were charged $2 for the olives? What? First who charges extra for olives? At least tell us we would be charged $2 for olives. We ordered the wedge salad which the kindly split for us. The blue cheese dressing was good and not overpowering. I ordered the beef stroganoff as Gabby said the pasta is made in house. It was good. The stroganoff sauce was also good but a little under salted. My husband ordered the special. Rack of lamb. He is very particular about lamb and only orders it occasionally but since it was their special, he was excited. Unfortunately it was not a good choice. Very underwhelming. It just didn't taste good. I will say we thought our server Gabby was wonderful although she could have warned us about the extra charge for the olives. Unfortunately we will not be returning to Morrison's. read more

We made Friday reservations on a shoulder season night. Seated immediately and had attentive, charming service throughout. We shared each course--very good wedge salad, tomato basil soup was outstanding. We ordered elk chops which were very good with a yummy sauce. The side veggies and potatoes were excellent. To me, that's a sign of a really good restaurant . Fresh veggies prepared perfectly! Not to mention delicious old fashioned made to my liking and some very good, reasonably priced wine. Excellent Restaurant!! We had a top notch service from Alonso our server, very friendly and attentive. We ordered the beet and goat cheese salad which was amazing. Food came out quick even though they had a full house. I highly recommended the dirty martinis with blue cheese olives. Enjoyed dinner here and found the restaurant interesting. it definitely has a bar vibe with the bar in the corner with locals that might have had a little too much. but its a cozy spot to eat. some of the food was great, other dishes were just okay. service was very slow....they are inconsistent in the kitchen so plan to be here a long time. if we come again I think I would just order a drink and appetizers right away but skip the full meal. that way you wont have to wait as long. the empanadas chicken pot pie is really not an empanada in the classic sense, they are just piece of dough on a mini chicken pot pie but tasty! read more

Very bizarre experience and sadly its one of the few restaurants in Mammoth so I would suggest to avoid but that would be difficult considering the limited options in town. Not an excuse to overcharge your customers and serve them mediocre food, do better! The service was super rushed since they let us make a reservation right before closing. On January 4, 2026, around 7:00 PM, my family and I walked to Morrison excited to enjoy a nice dinner in the snow during our first visit to Mammoth Lakes. Everything seemed fine at first, but the experience quickly went downhill once our waitress came to take our drink order. Everyone at the table ordered water. When it was my turn to order my drink, the waitress walked away mid-order. I brushed it off, thinking it might have been a misunderstanding. When she returned to take our food order, my family ordered first and politely asked for a few ingredients to be removed. Her tone sounded annoyed when asking if they wanted anything else. When it came to me, I kindly asked for a non-alcoholic drink. She immediately asked for my ID, which felt unnecessary given that it was a non-alcoholic beverage. As I turned to my husband to grab my wallet, she stepped very close into my personal space and aggressively asked again for my ID, with a clear attitude. The interaction made me extremely uncomfortable and upset, and it also made my family uncomfortable. Due to the unprofessional behavior and unpleasant experience, we decided to leave. We did inform the front host of what happened. This was disappointing, especially since we were looking forward to a nice family dinner during our first time in Mammoth. Unfortunately, the service we received did not reflect the welcoming experience we were hoping for. read more

From start to finish, an excellent, first visit experience. We were greeted by numerous friendly staff members when we arrived. Our server Mike was warm and welcoming. He gave us great menu recs and everything we tried was delicious. We enjoyed the blackened shrimp app,; split the wedge salad and each splurged and ordered the home made pastas. The beef stroganoff was perfect and delish, as was the amazing lemon chicken picatta. Drinks were on point and the home made pistachio ice cream was really good too. No one seemed that excited for us about heading here, people at hotel said it was fine (no one raved about it). I actually thought it was great, and good value for a ski town. the warm bread and butter gave me confidence this place would deliver, and I just had to keep my kids from eating baskets of it, so they would actually eat the entrees. ribeye, lamb and cajun chicken pasta were all good to great. dont skip dessert!!!! read more

Really good food in a rustic setting! I came here as a solo traveller staying in one of the nearby motels and was I impressed. But not because everything was hoity-toity, I was more impressed because everything was how I hoped it would be in a outdoor recreation town. I was initially put off by the white tablecloths in the other Yelp photos (white table clothes don't normally equate to rustic for me) but mexperience at Morrison's really won me over. I sat at a hightop in the bar, and Eric the bartender was my server. He was busy but took the time to be sure I was well served. I could blather on about how all of Morrison's pasta is made fresh in house and how good my meal and service was, but I'll spare you. Just go and check it out for yourself! Oh, FYI, I looked at OpenTable before walking over and OpenTable was showing no availability (Wednesday night). I went anyway hoping to sit in the bar since I was solo and they were only half-full. Mammoth yelp ratings are confusing for me. There seems to be a wide selection of restaurants with solid ratings, but most underwhelm. Based on its website and menu, I was expecting a basic traditional meal, but it was really worse than that. The king salmon's supposed miso glaze had a sweet, tangy, citrusy flavor to it that was gooey and did not complement the fish well. The basmati rice that came with it was cold and hard. Seasonal vegetables were uninspired steamed vegetables. Daughter's mac and cheese night literally have been Kraft macaroni and cheese out of the box. Stroganoff pasta sounded intriguing, as I'm a typically a fan of this dish, but it was just a cream pasta with chunks of beef. I had hope that the shrimp scampi could be executed well, but it just tasted like oil and shrimp pasta although you would expect this dish to be pretty fragrant with the abundance of seafood, oil, and garlic flavors. If you like "home cooking" i.e. amateur quality, then this may meet your expectations. There was a slight challenge upon checking in for my reservation, but I won't even delve into that. What a weird experience. Made a reservation for 8:15 through OpenTable just as they suggest in the voicemail (bc they never answered when I called ahead) only to realize they close at 8:30. When we were seated, at 8:25, the only other table in the restaurant was paying and leaving. I had booked this as a birthday dinner for two of our friend group, and hoped for a nice classy service. The food was fine, overpriced and fairly bland all around but I chalked that up to it being a resort town and had expected as much. Our waitress was nice and friendly but by the time our meals came the vibe shifted and it became quickly clear that they wanted to close up. The music was turned off and staff began cleaning and turning off lights in areas of the restaurant around us. I would never have made a reservation at that time if it had come with the disclaimer that we would be rushed out. At the end, they brought out brownies and ice cream with candles without us asking which I took to be a sign of great service, until I realized we were billed for them on the check without ordering them. Then once the check came, the manager asked us to pay quickly and sign so the waitress could close out. Because of this I was rushed and did not get a chance to review the bill, missing the added dessert and the 20% mandatory fee, and then still tipped another 18% because I was rushing. I'd stay away, just overpriced highway robbery. Much better options and service around town, my mistake for trying something new. read more

But what I came for was the food. And? Well, the presentation was good, but the flavor was very mediocre. I started with the oysters rockefeller, and? I wasn't impressed. Flavor was on the bland side, lacked that rich baked cheezy smack you expect with this classic appetizer. So i moved on to the stroganoff. When it arrived, the presentation was great. But, again, the flavor was lacking. All the main ingredients were there, but it lacked in terms of seasoning, preparation, and ultimately flavor. I believe this is one of the fancier establishments in town? I wasn't blown away and pricing is definitely steep for what you're getting. You'll definitely need a reservation. Almost everyone had a reservation. There's a parking lot in the front and in the back. You do have to dress a bit nicer to dine here. Our table ordered the salmon, wagyu special, and beef stroganoff. The beef stroganoff was so salty but I didn't have the heart to send it back. I just chalked it up to more electrolytes for tomorrows runs. My sister hated the salmon. She said the sear was nonexistent and the fish itself wasn't impressive. When they brought boxes for us, she forgot to pack it since it sucked so bad. I didn't want my strings off either. Our other buddy eats everything so can't really say they're picky or would give an accurate review of the wagyu lol. The homemade rocky road ice cream was good. Overall, I think the ambiance is what you're paying for. I definitely was not impressed and won't be coming back. For me, it was a one and done. For West LA prices and meh food I'll pass. Also, I will say I can understand establishments get busy and take out orders will exert servers. But implementing a 15% gratuity on take-out is peculiar. If the clientele isn't tipping, that's another issue to tackle as far as making tip mandatory. Sugarfish does a mandatory 18% but does not accept additional tips. Other places like Jon and Vinny's in LA take a 18% to sustain employment and expect you to tip. So I think reading the room is important. It might rub most/some people the wrong way. read more

This place may be my new favorite spot in Mammoth! It' was so cozy and welcoming. We came in on Saturday night without a reservation and luckily found two seats at the bar. (I recommend making a reservation) From start to finish the service was amazing between the bartender and the manager. We started off with the carpaccio. So yummy!! Then my husband and I decided to split the Filet and lobster Mac and cheese. The steak was fabulous and cooked to a perfect med rare. The lobster Mac was a good consistency and had a good amount of lobster in it. My husband also enjoyed his margaritas. We will definitely be back next time we are in town. read more

First of all, the manager was high on the job, he was nice but you could tell something was off. I ordered a caesar salad with chicken and it was okay and I also had some of the chicken parmesan and it was okay as well just watered down. Never again! I loved this place but not anymore. I have had 3 encounters with an awful, mean, rude, unreasonable lady by the name of Eirca. I have no clue why they would hire such a person, she must of conned them good! Not only was she completely rude to our table but unreasonably rude to the staff which made us extremely uncomfortable. We will not be coming back and will never recommend, and we recommend a lot, so sad. This person will ruin your restaurant, be aware! See you never! read more

After a lousy experience in 2024, I'm happy to report that our dinner (2 of us on a Saturday nt at 6pm) was wonderful. Not too crowded yet but filled in by 7pm. Quite expensive even for mammoth but the service was excellent (Erica) and the food back to the quality we have been used to since they opened in 2017 (or so). As always we started with an excellent old fashion and the Hamachi/Tuna app (now called a tower instead of the "Hamachi torts" of past). It is much bigger now--lots for 2 or more to share and of course the price has followed the increase in size. Mostly tuna now instead of Hamachi but fresh, and tasty. Finally, Woo Hoo, the lamb shank was back on the menu and we each got our own--very tender, flavorful, meaty--we could have shared one but enjoyed the feast. Topped the meal with apple streusel with ice cream--plenty for 2+. Our driver was delayed so we had to cap the night with whiskey sours--excellent. Overall a great meal and evening, we will be back. read more
