First time going here. I decided to have a look at their menu. I ordered the Cilantro and Lemon Chicken Soup, it was overpowering with Cilantro, had somewhat good flavor, it was crunchy not sure what that was. I had a taste for Sweet & Sour Soup, I ordered the soup. When I tried the Sweet & Soup it had Cilantro, it tasted okay but the Cilantro was a surprise and overwhelming. I was excited for another Indian place nearby and pricing seemed good. Unfortunately this place didn't hold up to other local places. We ordered tikka masala, butter chicken and sachaun chicken. The sachuan chicken was awful. It is almost soupy like a curry and is meant to be a dry dish. Their example photo is a stock photo not their actual dish and the flavor was way off. This restaurant has excellent flavor in all of their dishes the only problem is the portion size this is a part of the gouging of America that we all have to go through. they charge more and give you less versus giving you the same and charging more when necessary. Ordered 2 items: 1. Hot & sour soup 2. Saag with goat 1. No idea what the soup was, but it was certainly not Hot & Sour soup. If their goal was to put as many different types of pepper in broth and have nothing else of substance, they accomplished it. 2. Do not order any goat items from this place. There were 6 pieces of goat in my curry, and each piece was 90% bone. It was impossible to cut the meat off, so I resorted to grabbing the pieces with my hands and taking nibbles off the bone. And the goat was horrendously overcooked. No idea how this place is rated 4.2 stars. Complete let down. I will never be back, and I implore all others to take caution. read more

When I don't feel up to driving from Heights area to Hillcroft area for good Indian food, I order from The Monk's (it's take-out only). I've never tried their Chinese food but Indian is my comfort food and so far not found the flavor I'm seeking in my area except for The Monk's. My favorite items are the Tandoori Chicken and the Saag Paneer. Also, their Garlic Naan is excellent. Nope. First they didn't have the order ready and started it when we got there. Waited 15minutes to get our food we ordered online. Ordered the tandoori chicken, garlic naan, chicken momos, corn soup, and chicken tikka masala. The tikka was way too tomatoey and the chicken inside was pale as white I thought it was paneer at first glance. Chicken momos are interesting and flavorful and worth it if you've never had one. The tandoori chicken was really disappointing, soggy with zero char. The corn soup is just chicken broth, a can of creamed corn, and cilantro-- but it's $5? Wow! Never had heard of Indian-Chinese food before, but now I'm a fan for life! 1) Food was DELICIOUS 2) Staff graciously explained the menu items to my friend and me. Being unfamiliar with the cuisine, we had a few questions. They were very thorough and kind about making sure we understood. Moreover, I feel more educated now! 3) The food was packaged to-go very well. No spills- and still hot, even 30 minutes or so later! wow. The staff was very thoughtful when packaging the order. NOTED, and very impressive. 4) Food was prepared quickly! I think they said it would be 15-20 minutes, and wow. It was actually 15 minutes. SO FAST! Pricey for no valid or justifiable reason. Please tell me how the attached picture costs $15 plus tax?? How is it a sampler? It's not even filled...it's like they just picked a few items and threw it in. Some of the pieces looked like someone bit it and threw it right back in the there! Don't order catering from there, you get way more food from other places. This place will just leave a hole in your pocket with nothing good to come of it. Talk about a great find! Extremely excited to have this establishment in the heights area. As first timers, we didn't realize it was take-out only, but it was SO worth waiting to get home to try the food. They have a very extensive menu and the gentleman at the counter was extremely helpful in explaining the different dishes and assisting us with our decision. We decided on the chicken vindaloo and the vijayawada biryani along with some of the garlic naan and we were extremely blown away with all of the flavors! We're big spice lovers and they certainly did not disappoint! Service was quick and we didn't have to wait long for our order. The food was also still very hot by the time we made it home and the portions were grand! Overall, this place is definitely worth a visit! Its a take out only place but after seeing in on my feed many times i decided to try it. So far I have ordered three times and each time i have not been let down. Get their Butter panner. Takeout only place, so highly recommend calling ahead of time. My friends and I came on a whim when we were in the area and had to wait about 30-40 minutes for our food to be ready. We didn't mind but wanted to warn those who don't want the wait and are expecting a dine in experience. The food itself was delicious and cheaper than some other Indian food places we frequent. The naan was a bit disappointing as it was thinner than I'd like. Overall a great food experience though and would recommend the chicken tikka masala I had. We have only done takeout, so I can't vouch for the ambiance. However, the food is perfect! Do you like Indian and/or Chinese food? If so, there are sooo many options. Also, if you want spice, they are not afraid to give it to you. My favorite is the Chettinad, which is a wonderful, spicy curry. My bf likes the tikka masala and biryani. Me and 3 of my co-workers first visit to Monk's for takeout lunch today. I ordered the Monk's Chopsuey Shrimp Noodles, based on menu description and the picture. BIG DISAPPOINTMENT. Now I was not expecting the jumbo shrimp depicted in the photo, but I certainly was not expecting cocktail shrimp either. Green item I was told was corn. I don't recall this in the description. The description did mention the crispy noodles, which I received more than enough of, but the lo mein noodles, shown in the pic were missing. When I called and spoke to Pramo he informed me you are only served the lo mein noodles with this dish when you dine in. HUH???? After I spoke to Pramo, one of my co-workers informed me when she picked up our order she was told, the restaurant is take out only. When did noodles stop traveling well in a sealed container. We usually go outside the loop for Indo-Chinese food so we were really happy to give this restaurant a try. It's takeout only, no dining in. Their menu has a lot of items that are typical, but also many that we hadn't tried before. We went with the Dynamite Paneer (paneer 65), Gully Gobi, and masala noodles. The paneer and gobi were both fantastic and had a nice spice level. The paneer was creamy while the gobi was a dry marinade with lots of pepper and spice. The noodles were also delicious. I ordered from the Indian menu and was very pleasantly surprised how good it was, probably the best I have had in a while. The flavors were exquisite the sauces perfectly balanced. Wow! I was craving Indian food and found that this place is only 5 minutes from my apartment. You can order online, which I like, and I only waited an additional minute or two when I got there. The paneer tikka masala was ridiculously good!!! The spice was perfect. The rice was fluffy. The veggie samosas are great by themselves - even better with the green sauce. The place was somewhat deserted when I visited during Pate Lunch, but the meal was excellent, so I felt a little strange afterward! Delicious right up until the very end.
