Located right in the heart of downtown Bellingham, the Mount Bakery is a perfect place for a casual and delicious breakfast. Friendly and honest service combined with amazing food and drink make this a must have for anyone! I went with the Lemon Curd Waffle with a side of Apple Smoked Sausage links. Both were out of this world. Crisp on the outside and fluffy on the inside, the waffle was perfect! Topped with lemon curd, strawberries, and whipped cream this was a celebration in my mouth with everyone invited! The sausage was some of the best I've had too! My wife had the Blackstone Benny. It was a mouthwatering Benedict topped with a wonderful hollandaise sauce, bacon, spinach, and cheese ... all on top of a savory waffle! Served with a side order of roasted potatoes, this was a delectable delight! We also got a side order of toast and a fruit bowl. The fruit was fresh and the toast was superb. Thick cut artisans bread...described as toast of dreams by my wife! This joint also has a full menu of espresso and coffee drinks to chose from. Take your pick and be impressed...we sure did! I've been here a couple times to check out the food they have and I feel as though some of the food is way better than others. I've been here for brunch a few times and had their cinnamon roll french toast and waffles. The french toast was amazing! Because their cinnamon rolls are similar to croissants this made for an interesting dish. I wish it had come with a compote instead of syrup as it would've introduced more flavors to the dish. The waffles are pretty standard but the fruit they put on top is awesome and it varies season to season. I don't have any experience with their eggs benny but a friend ordered it and said it wasn't anything special. The unique thing is that the eggs are served on a half waffle. Their sandwiches (for lunch) are pretty good though, I really enjoyed their Caprese sandwich and want to have it again the next time I stop by. The biggest issue I have is that their food is a bit pricer than comparable brunch/lunch places in town and the portions are on the smaller side. Mount Bakery's sweet foods are generally pretty good, but the savory dishes have not been worth trying again. Be sure to check their specials though! Great reviews attracted us to visit this bakery cafe for brunch. Waiting for a table took a bit long even though there were clean tables that were ready. Strange. Probably the servers were too busy and didn't have a chance to set up a table for us?? We ordered their original egg benedit and crepe with fresh fruit. The egg benedit was the best one among all the benedits that I tried. The cafe used waffle instead of English muffins for the egg brnedit, which was a great idea. Their waffle was thick and fluffy that went well with ham, eggs and hollandaise sauce. However, I personally felt that the crepe was not as great as the egg benedit. The crepe was stuffed with fresh fruits. The fresh fruits tasted great but I could not taste the crepe. It was just a piece of dry flour to me unfortunately. One major thing that I disliked the most was that there were so many small bugs or flies that were flying around me and the food! One also landed on my waffle. That was disgusting! I was eating while I was using hands to prevent the flies to attack my food. Geez.... I could not eat the brunch comfortably. We saw the breakfast at other tables looked great but we still thought this cafe was over rated because we had tried and seen other restaurants that had better breakfast and brunch. I read something about their 64 layer biscuit. As a self proclaimed biscuit and gravy connoisseur I had to try. My two daughters and I decided to try on a Sunday afternoon. I walked in and was greeted by a man that was friendly and seated us right away. It was steady, but not packed or anything. Biscuits and gravy were the special with eggs (which I don't eat, so they nicely dipped potatoes). The wait was like 40 mins though. My five year old spilled water and it took quite some time to get the waitress to notice that we needed her. I will say the gravy wars delicious, and potatoes were super tasty. I was sad about the biscuit though. It just seemed super dry and dense. The other thing I couldn't ignore was all the accumulated dust on walls and cords and pictures. Yeee. didn't seem busy but somehow we sat for close to 45 minutes before we got our food. servers were kind but didn't pay us much mind. my friends meal had both undercooked eggs and undercooked bacon. she picked around both and thankfully was able to eat something, (little bit of her toast) but the server only discounted it by 50%. i believe a meal with two undercooked components should not on our bill at all. my other friends coffee was extremely sweet, way way too much syrup. it was hardly drinkable. safe to say we will not be returning. important to note, all of us have worked in the service industry so we have empathy/understanding for the employees. we acknowledge some days are just bad days, but the multitude of issues was just too much, so here we are. read more

Very excited to have BF here after an early appointment in Fairhaven. My friend & I also excited to see they make their Eggs Benedict with homemade sauce. However, someone FORGOT to put in the lemon!! It didn't taste any different than the packaged sauce. Loved that it came on potatoes instead of biscuits or bread. Very gracious & accommodating wait staff. Asked if they could make a Flat White which is very popular in the UK. & she did a great job. Well, this was an unexpected pleasure. I am not particularly into breakfast or bakeries, but I'm game to try things. So when a friend suggested the oh-so-clever and charmingly named Mount Bakery, I said why not? Tiny place, but we lucked out and got seated at a table by the window, served by the charming and helpful, Francia, I believe she said her name was. I hadn't seen that they had cocktail offerings on the menu (I might have missed that), so I was pleased to see some fun drink offerings including an amazement of chocolate, coffee, brandy and whipped cream called the Misanthrope. As to food, they have a selection of things beyond "breakfast" type offerings, so I was glad of that. I ordered a ham and brie sandwich--but I have to forewarn this isn't a typical sandwich. You select your bread--mine, focaccia--and it comes open-faced, so it's more a knife/fork affair. Mine was very delicious. They have salads and a daily soup offering. Ours was a tomato/red pepper bisque which was very nice. Of the dessert offerings, run to the galettes. They are fabulous. read more

I got the Portobello Benny. This place claims to have the best Benny but in my opinion it lacked in flavor and texture. It was runny and pretty bland. Not to mention, the price is ridiculous. $15 for something very bland isn't worth it. I suggest Little Cheerful or Birch Door and they offer you more food for the same price. BUT the main reason why I'm giving a one star is because there was a mold in my oranges. I was in shock so my boyfriend confronted to the server but it took her so long to come up to us for a "solution". Honestly I was expecting a half off for the food because the orange clearly had mold but the only offer she gave us was that she would give us free pastry. My wife, myself, and my daughter went here over the weekend and honestly we were not impressed. Our waitress was great, got us seated and let us know what they had for the weekend and also what they were out of at the same time. After getting our food, we were disappointed with the lack of flavor. The eggs Benedict that they claim to be the best in Bellingham, was far from the best. The breakfast burrito was also slightly flavorless especially for a burrito with chorizo in it, and the small size was a surprise. $60 for 3 breakfast plates and one coffee was shocking for something we left being unhappy with. I have to give a shout out to the staff and owner at Mount Bakery today! A big group of our family went for breakfast today and we had a medical emergency for one of the elderly members of our party. The hostess was right on it as it happened and helped my brother in law, helping support him until the paramedics came. Another customer was also nearby and stepped in to help. All the kitchen staff and the owner Vincent were so kind and caring. We didn't all get to finish our breakfasts, but those who did were raving about their meals, eggs Benedict, breakfast burrito, waffles, Koign Amman. What a wonderful business, and great representation of the wonderful community in Bellingham. Vincent was very concerned and asked us to let him know how things turned out. He even comped our meal. Aye carumba! Be ready to shell out all of the cash in your wallet. This little hole in the wall is expensive. The Portabello Mushroom Eggs Benedict set me back $15, and that was with no drink. Yes, the ingredients are farm fresh, organic when possible and the large plate was completely covered and stacked high with food enough to feed a couple of people, but it was still quite pricy for breakfast items. It's no surprise they take all credit cards including American Express. Had the bennies actually been the best in town taste-wise, I might not actually be offput by the price; however, they were not. There was an unusual yeasty taste to my meal that I couldn't place. I wondered if the belgian waffle was beer battered until my waitress pointed out that the wine-like enhancement was the balsalmic vinegar from the portabello mushroom. Yep, that is it. I wish I could agree with the other customers who had such a wonderful gluten free experience. Sadly, I cannot! My husband and I had an amazing getaway for the weekend. It was perfect, until we decided to stop here for breakfast. They were busy, which we took as a good sign. We waited for around 30 minutes to be seated and then another 30 minutes to be approached by anyone after we were actually seated. The first waitress knew the menu well. I explained all of my allergies and felt confident by her knowledge. She disappeared and a second waitress eventually came by. Everything we were hoping to order, they were out of. The menu became very limited. I ended up ordering the apple/pear crepe with Gouda instead of Brie since they were out of Brie. I added bacon to it. She did explain that it wouldn't be the same if the Brie were in it. I again explained my allergies and the need to be free of certain things, including gluten. The food came and we were less than impressed. The crepe looked dried out and had maybe 4 slices of apple and little to no cheese. The bacon was raw... I'm not joking when I say that either. It was raw! I picked out the $3 added bacon and continued to choke down the crepe. Halfway thru, I noticed I felt dizzy, my tongue was itchy and my stomach was in pain. I mentioned to my husband that something wasn't right. Our original waitress came by and I asked her if the crepe had been made gluten free. Right off the bat she could look at it and told me it wasn't. It was fully gluten. I instantly broke down in tears. I had tried so hard to avoid gluten for YEARS and had been successful. She was very kind and caring and expressed that she understood my allergies but unfortunately wasn't the one to take our order. She offered various things to help me. I feel bad for being such a wreck, but was so sad by the experience. We quickly left and scrambled at the store, having to buy activated charcoal and apple cider vinegar pills. Luckily, I downed several and they seemed to help for the day. I guess there was a reason I had just read about their ability to help. Sadly, once they wore out of my system, I felt the effects of the gluten. Day 4 and I'm feeling it! I'm fortunate I've been able to push thru and manage my symptoms. I just wish more restaurants and their staff would take gluten allergies more seriously :( I will not be returning, to say the least read more

I usually get a frittata or quiche, but today I ventured to try the extravagant looking Belgium waffle. It is beautiful, a filling waffle topped with various fruit- I had bananas, grapes, strawberries, pineapple, and apples. Yum is all I can say. Everyone in the group was in unison that this place was on point. The wait time wasn't at all bad even though we went around brunch time on Sunday. The staff was super friendly and sweet. The food was superb. I ordered the turkey and avocado crepe. I heard the salmon egg benedict was the best item to get, but I am not into benedicts so I went for my choice of the turkey crepe. The waffle I sampled from my friend was a tad dry and hard so I would suggest staying away from it. Pets are allowed at the premise, but you have to be seated outside. Salmon benny, standard benny, veggie benny (vegetarian friendly and totally delicious in its own right)....they offer bennies for everyone! It's also served on a waffle that provides great nooks and crannies to hold hollandaise sauce and runny yolk. The side of hash browns were just salty/spiced enough and cooked to creamy potato perfection. Love the warm yellow walls and homey furniture. Super cozy. SO happy with my choice to dine here! I got the 1/2 sandwich and soup. For the sandwich I ordered the Turkey Gouda and man was it delicious! It was definitely the cranberry relish that set this sandwich apart from other turkey sandwiches. The fresh whole wheat bread was also a standout with its crispy nice crust. As for the soup, I sampled their soup special it was a vegetable posole soup with hominy. This soup was also quite good, it had nice bite to it. In addition to my lunch, I got a nonfat chai latte with whipped cream. This was ok... I would have liked a bit more chai tea flavor, it tasted a little weak. The whipped cream was fresh, which was quite enjoyable. My friend ordered their quiche special and a cup of the same vegetable soup. She let me sample a sliver and it was delicious. I think what made it so good was the perfectly flaky and buttery crust. I could have just eaten just the crust... but I resisted the urge. It can get quite busy here especially on the weekends. Even week days around peak times there is a wait, so be prepared to wait for delicious food! Literally the best gluten free bread I've ever had. AND IT WAS MADE IN HOUSE!! I love Fairhaven and now I have reason to love it even more.

Mimosa Heaven. I admit, it's an important part of my brunch enjoyment. Large, organic and definitely in charge. Topped with a wee raspberry to delight the ladies. Their coffee isn't too bitter either. This is pretty dang close to the wee bakeries/cafes in Europe- lots of fresh baked goods and a sit down setting. It is ALWAYS loud, and almost always busy on the weekends. They take reservations for 5+ via telephone and if you promise to arrive in 5 minutes or less, sometimes you can talk them into throwing a reservation for 2 your way. (I did. Thanks, y'all.) Their tarts (Think French Apple or Poached Pear) are heavenly and perfectly petite. They tout the best voted cinnamon roll in Bellingham (though I thought it was second best- message me). Eggs Benedict is pretty much a cult thing at this place. I mean, really, any way you want it, that's the way you get it. Atop a waffle isn't my personal favorite, but people rave for good reason. Their specials board is KILLER. I made a habit of reaching out to order from it whenever I'm able. Tons of gluten free / dairy free / vegetarian options and seasonal delights. Parking is always a monster- give yourself extra time to find a spot. Overall, I definitely take clients here, friends here, family here and brunch my heart out here. I've been here a handful of times and I've just gotten around to writing a review. Proclaiming that they have the best eggs benny in Bellingham was what first caught my eye. Unlike traditional eggs benedict that is served on an English muffin, their eggs benny is served up on a WAFFLE! Like yum, who doesn't like waffles?! My most recent time here, I came with a party of 6. Quite a bit of us for an establishment that typically only has tables for 2-4 people. We were seated within 10 minutes of arrival, which in my opinion is not bad. Almost all of us opted for either a waffle or a benny, and one deciding on one of their lunch sandwiches. Everything was really good and the server was amazing! He was attentive, friendly and came over a few times to ask us how we were doing but wasn't overbearing or hovering. Update..... This place was so great I had to go back for crepes. Fruit crepe was excellent grapes in a crepe who knew. Also open up the beverage menu to find awesome eye opening cocktails. I highly recommend the bloody Mary. Excellent mix really good was a little interesting with the sweet crepe but still awesome. Quiches are awesome. Again the staff is amazing.
