I've been their loyal client for over 4 years. Though, it doesn't mean I never cheated on them when I was closer to other salons or when I felt like trying a new place.!! I barely ever gone there with an appointment and they have been always nice in taking me as a walk-in. As a result I got my nails done by almost everybody there. They are all good, but some are better. I like Nicole (the owner), Kim is my favorite, and Julie can mess up your nail polish from time to time. This is not the cleanest nail salon and is def not a high end one, but it is convenient, small, and offers friendly service. Prices are reasonable and they are quick. And in case you are wondering, YES, this is a typical nail salon owned by Viets and they do talk Vietnamese together while working on your nails. Like many of the other people before me have said, The Nail Bar is really hit or miss on terms of the quality of the manicure or pedicure you receive there. Some of the workers are very unfriendly, while others are nice and make an effort to speak English with you. It's pretty inconsistent across the board in terms of quality and service. The one thing that many other people have said and I made sure to watch out for as a result, was the use of Emory boards, buffers, and files that had VERY CLEARLY been used before. That is just totally unacceptable, and I would think nail salon hygiene 101 would have taught the owners that. It is unsanitary, and when you're dealing with unsanitary, quality really doesn't matter. If they did the most awesome job ever of all time, I still wouldn't be able to overlook the blatant violations of code by using unsanitary and unsterilized tools. They are about $5 cheaper than what I have found to be the standard in Irvine for a gel manicure and regular pedicure. The only plus about the whole experience was that the lady didn't skimp on the massage part. However that said, she used a bunch of lotion and got most of it on my shirt and hair during the back massage portion. Thankfully, my hair was up so she didn't use the community hair clip to put it up. All in all, go elsewhere. It's just unsanitary, unfriendly, and botched work. This place is so dirty. So, so dirty. I saw multiple workers reusing tools without sterilizing them. I watched as the lady doing my pedicure dropped things from her cart on the floor, picked them up and put them back without doing anything to clean them. They barely wipe down the tubs for your feet and I've noticed since coming here that my feet have become kind of flaky, which is concerning. My pedicure itself was sloppy and uneven. The only reason I'm giving this place 2 stars rather than 1 is because the lady who did my pedicure was very kind, so I feel bad writing this. I decided to try this place as it is close to home (the other salon I was going to is in Tustin). I called at 530 to see if they could take me at 6 and they said sure. When I got there I explained who I was and was asked what I needed done (although I told them on the phone, but no worries). I asked where I choose my color from and they said "in the cups". Huh? In the cups?? A lady who was having her nails done told me where to go - thank you stranger! hehe I was sat in a massage chair and the experience began. I love my nails, I love the service. The people are really nice, especially Mindy. If I had one complaint, it would be the chairs - they are not very comfortable. :-( So maybe next time I will have them do it at a station. I was just about to give up hope for a good mani/pedi in Irvine when someone recommended I try this place. If you've read some of my previous reviews, you know I've had my share of missteps when it comes to nail salons in Irvine. The Nail Bar is clean, relaxing, and the staff is very sweet. The salon itself is not like those other sketch nail places where the carpet is dirty and they have mismatch towels that are equally dirty. One of those places where you walk in and just saddle up for a staph infection. My mani and pedi was so good I almost felt like I should tip more than I usually do, and I did. There wasn't anything I didn't like about this place. The mani/pedi came with a neck and shoulder massage and this lil lady beat me into submission. I wanted to scream out, "UNCLE!" but a part of me didn't want her to stop. If you're in the Irvine area, stop in and check them out. You'll be glad you did. read more

This is the closet nail salon to my house, but I had never been here before today despite having lived down the street for 4 years. I made a same-day appointment for 10 a.m. - an hour after they opened - and they fit me in no problem. When I got there, they seemed busy - with the entire staff working with other customers - but I was seated right away. The gal doing my pedicure was just finishing up with another client, so she was bouncing between me and the other woman for the first 10 minutes. Not going to lie, it was awkward. She also wasn't very friendly (though not unfriendly) when she finally did focus only on me. This was all forgiven as she gave me a great pedicure. As for my manicure, it came with an arm/shoulder/neck rub, which is fantastic and relaxing. Honestly, the nicest time I've have getting a manicure. The outcome for my nails, however, was only okay. I got French tips and they weren't very precise - the white wasn't consistent and, up close, it isn't perfect. Since I usually just get my nails buffed when I get a manicure, I may be being over-critical. The mani/pedi (with optional callous remover) was $39 - a great price in this area. The staff was friendly, the space is open and relaxing, and I appreciate how they went the extra mile. They didn't up-sale, they were polite and helpful, and spoke mainly in English (even if they were talking about customers/services). I appreciate that they genuinely thanked me when I tipped and that they made sure I had my car keys out before getting my fingers were painted. If I had to put it in to a word, the service here is thoughtful. They definitely have a ton of regulars, which I think speaks volumes. I will definitely be back! read more

The ladies here speak English! I knew I was gonna pay a little more when Hanna asked me "What would you like done today?" in clean audible English. I had a full Mani/Pedi in white French tip with gel. A similar job would have cost me $40 in Anaheim but here I was charged 49 before tip. 20 for French tip pedi & 29 for french tip gel nails. The place is clean and the chairs are cute with a place to put your purse. (a plus) She shaped my nails flat with curved edges just how I like them! Susan did my pedicure and I appreciate that she asked me questions along the way. I can see how becoming a regular here can be very easy. These ladies care about their customers and also shoulder and neck massages (included in the high price). I was out of there in little over 1 hour. Marvelous! I will definitely go back. First time visit. Got a pedicure and an eye brow wax. Beware: the $20 pedicure advertises that it includes callus removal. It does NOT. The lady said it was $5 extra for callus removal, even though their pricing pamphlet says it should be included in the $20 price. I even pointed it out and she kept saying "$5 extra". so they lose a star for that. Other than that, I'm happy with my experience here. The salon is small and feels nicer than some other places. Regarding customer service: Searching for a nail salon, the Nail Bar is within walking distance. Instead of just going and being a walk in (although they are welcomed), I called. When I usually call for an appointment if the time I request is not available, I am asked if I can come at another suggested time. Not here...I was told they have no availability and that was it. I walked in at around 530pm on a Tuesday to get a manicure. When I arrived, there were two ladies getting serviced and two available manicurists. One of these ladies asked what I was looking to have done and I explained to her just a regular manicure, no gel. She says ok and I proceed to pick out my polish color. As I am doing that, I hear the two available employees having a conversation with one another. After about two-minutes of back and forth, the one lady asks me if I could come back tomorrow because there is someone coming in for an appointment soon. I totally understand that appointments take precedent over walk-ins, but to ask me to come back another day when there is an available manicurist or I could've even waited until the other two open up! I walked out of there astonished. They clearly aren't interested in my business so I will most certainly not be coming back tomorrow or any other day. read more

I stopped by here for a quick mani and they were about to close. They serviced me very quickly and normally i would dislike that but i was also in a rush. I like my nails simple with just painted nail polish - no frills. They definitely delivered. The prices are great and theres tons of parking. Theyre in a strip mall plaza with tons of good food. I have been a client here for over 3 years and have never been disappointed. Lemme start by saying: I am a picky wench when it comes to my nails. I notice every flaw, every uneven length, every bump. I want perfection, and am not afraid to politely demand it. I get my nails done by the owner, Nicole. She does beautiful work (her gel nails are impeccable), is polite and very friendly, and most importantly, she stands behind the work done in her salon. Oh, and she doesn't tolerate rudeness in her staff. Rest assured, nobody is talking about you while they do your mani/pedi. :D The one and only time I had a problem with a full set of silk wraps that I had put on by a tech there, several split and lifted within 3-4 days. I called to go in and have them repaired. Nicole took one look and said that I would need a new set, they were not going to look good if they were repaired. Not ideal, but I went ahead. She put on a completely new set of gels...for free. She insisted that she guarantees the services at her salon, and she backed it up!! Julie does really great brows, if you need to be waxed! Eh not impressed at all. I went in just to get my acrylics taken off and was hoping to be in and out pretty quickly. I stood around awkwardly for about two minutes while the staff continued their conversation with their current customers. No problem, I understand. But when I told them what I needed, they plopped a bowl of alcohol in front of me and motioned for me to put my fingers in it. I sat there for about 15 minutes with no information on who was going to help me or how long I should soak my nails. I had to ask someone if I was going to be helped. I would give this spot only one star but the girl who helped me was extremely friendly and gave me advice on how to care for my nails a little better. I think her name was Jenny. I don't know that I'd give this place any stars- I never could get my nails done! No one greeted me when I walked in... I HATE when a customer has to be the first to make the first connection! One of the ladies just pointed me to the empty tables (wasn't sure which one she meant so I just sat at the clean one... Assuming that was logical). When the manicurist was finally available she made me move to her dirty station- without even cleaning it first! Clippings and shavings were still on the table. I came in to get a FILL (obviously I have acrylics/powder on) and change the color of my GEL polish... Which I told her at the beginning... And she still tried to take the color off with nail polish remover! I was like "hello?!" She was so confused: she examined my nails, chatted to her coworker in a different language, looked at me... And asked if I can come back. WHAT?! She didn't even say when she just said to "come back later" . I was already frustrated at this point so I just said "never mind" and got up to leave. As I was walking towards the door they yelled at me to come back and the 1st lady said someone else will do my nails... I wait another 5 minutes, new manicurist looks at my nails and says "um can you come back for full set? Nails ready yet." ARE YOU FREAKING KIDDING ME?! Waste of time. read more

Me and boyfriend recently visited "the nail bar" and got our nails done by "Hannah" we have been looking for a good nail place because most nail places near us have been a little homophobic to us but when we came here we were treated with open arms and smiling faces we were referred to Hannah and she gave us a spectacular nail job. I am very fussy about who I let touch my nails but eventually a friend persuaded me to give Hannah a try. Well, it was love at first manicure! Hannah is meticulous in every way and I don't know how she does it but my dip nails last over three weeks, although I get them done at about three weeks because by then they are growing out or earlier if I'm just ready for a new color. I have such confidence in Hannah that I have often been known to nod off to sleep and STILL, with the patience of a saint, Hannah works through it and manages to make my nails look great, every time! Although a little on the pricey side, this is my favorite place (so far) to get a full set done in Irvine. Instead of just clipping your nails in whatever angle before they put your tips on, they actually cut them short enough and file them a little so it doesn't look so messy underneath. Service was great, the ladies were all very nice. The owner seemed to know everyone that walked in so I assume that they have a loyal customer base. Since this place is closer to my house than Angel's I like going here when I want to go in and out. I'd give it four stars if it wasn't so pricey! read more

I usually get my nails done in San Francisco, but I was in Irvine visiting my parents and I needed a fill. I decided to try this place out instead of the usual place I go to at home simply because it's closer to my house. Well that was a huge mistake. Since it had been about 4 weeks since I had gotten them done, some of my nails had begun to fall off. I needed new tips on most of the nails on my right hand. I went in on Friday, January 18. She did my nails and they looked decent, not too bad. BUT, not even a week later (Thursday, January 24th) my first ginger nail just came off. It literally only took me opening a drawer and it just came right off super easily. I was upset but whatever I just went in the next day and got it fixed ($3 when it should have been free tbh). Everything was fine and I came back up to SF that following Sunday, January 27. AND THE NEXT DAY my middle finger nail snapped off as I put on my shoe. One again super easily just came right off. The day after that my pinky finger nail came off while I was washing my hair. Today, a week and a half after my initial appointment, my ring finger nail came off while I was putting my clothes in my closet. That's FOUR NAILS in a week and a half. I've been getting my nails done at my place in SF for many months and NOT ONCE have I had a nail break. They do their job sloppy and rushed I would highly recommend going literally anywhere else for acrylics. The reason I'm giving two stars instead of one is because they gave me a great pedicure which seems to be lasting pretty well read more

I absolutely LOVE coming to the Nail Bar! I was first referred to this place by my best friend who was from the area. After a first AMAZING experience, I was hooked. The girls here really take great care of you, and they remember you when you return. (What a feeling!) .. I have returned a few times to this place since for my "ultimate experience" pedicures/manicures... While the prices are a bit higher than I would normally spend, they are absolutely worth every penny! They take great care of you, and the massages are so nice that are included in the packages. (I am pregnant and the other day received about a 15 minute massage on my feet alone!! I was in HEAVEN!) I cannot say enough positive things about this salon!
