I'm not one to complain but because I felt like this situation was so unwarranted I feel like I should share. I had a pick up order for this restaurant. I walk in and wait for someone to come up to me. As I'm standing there a man who I hope isn't an owner or someone in a position of power in that establishment then comes up to me and just stares at me, doesn't say hello, doesn't ask if I need help, just stares at me and doesn't say a word. I then proceed to tell him that I have a pick up order. He then without uttering a word throws his hand out at the bag like it was my job to come in there and start touching things in this restaurant. I then pick up the order and end the wordless exchange between me and this man. Most places that have self pick up have signage indicating so, so how this was supposed to be obvious to me I'm not sure. Anyways, anyone who has any form of human decency knows this is not how interactions should go between employee and customer, do better. read more

For the diner category this place is a 5/5 I always complain that there aren't any good diners in South Jersey. This place is now my #1. Great breakfast menu with fantastic prices. Good portion sizes. And the service can't be beat! Went in on Valentine's Day for breakfast and they gave a log stem rose to all the women patrons. This is one of those places that I have driven by for years on my way to Atlantic City, yet have never made it a regular stop. Well after Thursday's visit, that might change because the Berlin Diner is where it's at! As a boy, I remember seeing the big, white old faded sign with red lettering that read "The New Berlin Diner." Now it never looked new then but from my understanding they closed down a few years back, completely renovated the place to give it that 50s diner feel, and have been open now for some time. We ordered the chicken pot pie and turkey dinner, along with split pea soup. Everything tasted fresh and we had no problem licking our plates clean. They also have a very extensive menu, which I would like to investigate further. For good prices, service, and quality, the New Berlin Diner is worth a visit! read more

We had dinner here on a whim. We were on our way to a show at "The Vault, and stopped here because it was nearby. It did not disappoint. The diner was brightly lit, clean and welcoming. The service was prompt and professional; we were seated right away. The SEAFOOD BISQUE WAS AWESOME!! It was better than some 5 star, expensive restaurants. The freshly baked sweet rolls were delicious. My date had the pork chops with baked potato. It was excellent, with a hearty portion, which required a doggie bag before we left. I had the mac & cheese and the crab imperial casserole. The Mac & Cheese was very good; creamy with nice toast brown crunch on the top. The crab casserole was OUT OF THIS WORLD! It was like a Giant, First Rate Crab Cake In A Dish. Wonderful blend of spices, crab meat and filling. This was also a HUGE portion that I had for dinner again the next night. I had chopped steak with mushroom gravy and my husband had the meatloaf with the same gravy. They were both delicious and cooked to order. Our waitress informed us that even though it is not listed on the menu, you can always get potatoe salad or fried eggplant, so I got the eggplant and was very pleased. The food is excellent and a great value for your money. My husband and I stopped for breakfast last Saturday morning. This was our first time visiting the diner. I ordered the oatmeal special and one egg. Both were prepared perfectly for my tastebuds. My husband ordered the omelet with the potatoes, tomatoes and cheese. This was the best omelet I ever tasted. The diner is small but very pleasant and clean. I would like to give them five stars for the excellent food but decided on four stars because the waitresses were so loud that it was very hard to keep a conversation with my husband. We frequent this diner often... it is my kids favorite place to go out to eat. The food is always good. I only ever had one problem with the done-ness of my food, but the manager came over and was very sorry and handled the situation well. I would recommend this place for good diner food. I honestly wasn't all that impressed by New Berlin Diner. The seating was sunk in so much that, even though I'm just shy of 6 feet tall, I felt like a child reaching up to the table. The flatware was very worn. I get it - it's a diner and they don't have money to spend on basic comforts but it affected my experience. Something reasonable within their control is the quality of the food. I went in the Friday after Thanksgiving during lunch time. The diner was relatively empty so the staff can't attribute the following to a busy lunch rush. I ordered fish and chips with a side of chicken escarole. Last time I checked, escarole is a leafy green. I expected a chicken salad; instead I got chicken soup and it was oily at that. The chips (fries) were seasoned fries. I didn't expect seasoning but that might have been due to my oversight. The fries could have been good had the seasoning not been so heavy-handed. This is one of those cases where less would have been more. Despite all the negative feedback I offered, the wait staff was relatively friendly and the food wasn't terrible. I say go if you're in the area, have time to eat, and don't want to spend that much money. read more

Worst food I ever had 1st time I went I ordered chicken stir fry and the food was so greasy I felt sick after tasting it. The second time I went in hope of it being better as if maybe it was just a one time thing well this time I ordered "meatloaf" it looked like a Salisbury steak out of a TV dinner. So I tried and and it was horrible..... next I tried the sides nope I called the waitress over and told her it was not good so she went and talked to someone and took the food away and that was it she came back with the check and the food was on the check I told them I didn't even eat it and the lady at the front said the waitress told her I ate all the food i asked them the bring the plate out and they denied to bring it out so I just gave them the heads up that the food was horrible and that the should probably take the "meatloaf" off their menu its false advertising also not one staff member apologized or asked if I wanted a different meal neither time. My husband is not a huge fan of your diner having suffered a few disappointing meals. Yesterday, he agreed to have breakfast there. I ordered pancakes with eggs easy over. My pancakes tasted very strongly of baking powder and were thick. The easy over eggs were hard cooked on the bottom. My husband ordered easy over eggs, Canadian Bacon and home fries with onions. The last time he ordered this, they FORGOT the onions which resulted in a tasteless lump of white, greasy potato pieces. This time, the potatoes were topped with a huge blob of caramelized onions which was very unappetizing and not what he expected. Likewise, his easy over eggs were the same as mine. I am certain it will be a long time before he consents to visiting your diner again. P.S. The coffee was excellent. read more

We went on in for breakfast, and our waiterss Jen was horrible. She had five tables and took three tables time's order at the same time!!. Never came back to check on any of us. She then took the other two tables orders, and STILL never checked on her other tables, even when my husband asked for more coffee. When the three tables food came out all at the same time!!! The food was warm....NOT hot. He again asked for coffee. She still went in the back and stayed for 10 minutes. She was in the back far more than taking care of her customers. I love this place. Great food, great atmosphere, servers that know what they're doing, and best of all run by a Greek family. I go here for basically two amazing dishes - omelettes and burgers. Once I tried a special, which was a Greek sauteed dish, and that was amazing too! Berlin is a little far for me, but I make the drive for a good homecooked tasting meal. The dessert is amazing too.
