There were two servers. The girl was very unfriendly; just dropped off the menus and didn't say a word. It took a while for anyone to come back and finally take our order but at least the guy apologized for the long wait. I got the huevos rancheros with light cheese and my husband ordered a spinach salad. The huevos dish came smothered in cheese and the spinach salad left something to be desired... very plain and a smaller portion. Definitely not worth $9! My initial thought was, "Do they think we are in Seattle?". When I let my server know that my dish had too much cheese, he explained that maybe next time I just order no cheese- as in they aren't capable of accommodating and putting in a little less cheese, so all or nothing I guess? Weird. I tried to be nice and finish the dish but I just couldn't. My husband and I barely touched our food and ultimately decided to leave and eat elsewhere. Nothing was offered to help make our experience better so we paid the full bill and left. Terrible customer service. Any restaurant looking to gain a good reputation and receive return customers would have taken the huevos dish off the bill. Needless to say, we won't be going back. This was probably the worst "Mexican" food I've ever had. We walked in not understanding if we were supposed to seat ourselves or not until some lady who was eating at a two-topper waved us over. Turned out to be one of the employees who looked like she was taking a break at one of the tables. We sat down and ordered. We got the HH chips and dip. The queso tasted like canned velveta with red chili's in it. The salsa was very chunky and completely tasteless and watery. I ordered the carne Asada burrito. Where the carne asada was was beyond me, it looked like and tasted like an off brand can of chili. The cumin was overwhelming created a VERY bland taste. The staff had to been keenly aware their food sucked because they kept coming over saying "does it taste ok?" "Is everything aright?" Not to mention my husband received his food earlier than I did and I was left sitting there for a bit before me entree came out. This set a new record for the worst service and food my family and I have ever received. I have never written a restaurant review in my life, but this one has to be done .... We arrived shortly after 6:30pm and waited for over an hour. We were finally seated at a table on the east wall of the restaurant where I had an excellent view of the staff in the kitchen, and the owner and her husband sitting at the bar drinking. after a bit they headed off but not before pouring his margarita into a paper to go cup with a straw. The place was starting to clear out as we were ordering our dinner. We ordered drinks at this point, Oh I might say this, it was tea because of the $7 draft beers on tap, I'm not broke but that's just crazy beer prices. As we waited I watched the Hispanic male who claimed to be the manager prepare our food WITH THE MICROWAVE who then pulled out the plates and proceeded to lay his BARE HAND across all the food to check the temp After the plates went in and out of the MICROWAVE two to three times each. After placing our order and waiting over 45 minutes for our food. Its now 8:15ish pm and they bring out three of the seven plates with no silverware or napkins, the three of us sat there for another 5 minutes waiting for them to bring them. After several minutes the rest of the plates were delivered. My son and Myself ordered the Red enchiladas that the menu stated were made with ground beef, yea well upon inspecting my soggy tortillas and lettuce for the meat, there was none. I called the waitress over and expressed my surprise. At this point I had lost my appetite and told here my order was wrong and to please just remove it from my bill. She took my plate and walked away. She then had the Hispanic male come back over to my table to try and hand me back the same plate and I told him the same thing "you forgot the meat" His response was priceless he said " the meat is in the sauce" because I ordered the spicy sauce and that they only put meat in the Washington sauce which my son ordered who promptly opened up his to reveal no meat in his either. Immediately The guy was an arrogant jerk to us because of there error. At this point my family and I were made to feel very uncomfortable by the tone of his voice as he yells at us to just leave then.....That was all we needed we were gone. I am an Executive Director of a large company with many employees. Conduct of this manner towards any customer or work mate is automatic grounds for termination of employment. My eldest son is the Manager of a local Large chain grocery store, my youngest son is a manager at a large paint supplier and my wife is a long time state of Washington employee, so to see this kind of arrogant blatant disregard customer service was appalling. I hope this does not fall on deaf ears. People of Everett are a tighter nit group than this. I hope we can band together to show our unity in not patronizing this establishment. Dave D read more

My family and I came here this afternoon for my birthday lunch. I had heard amazing things about this restaurant and was very excited to try it. When we arrived we were promptly seated and water was delivered. Then we waited 30 minutes to order. To be fair, it was busy and so it really wasn't an issue. Sodas were delivered as well as my VERY good margarita. We ordered the food, waited a little longer and lunch was delivered. The presentation was good, the food its self was underwhelming. I had the cornbread and pozole and potato salad, the kids had nachos and a carne asada burrito and my husband ordered the Christmas tree. My husbands food was good. The carne asada burrito seemed like it was made of ground beef and was OVER SPICED. The pozole was bland, the potato salad tasted like metal, the cornbread was burnt, but the honey butter was great! I returned the bread and was brought a "new" piece. The problem is, the new piece was the same batch as the old piece, but they had cut off the burnt bottom. (I have pictures)The bread itself still tasted burnt. I talked to the waitress, who was really nice and apologetic and she did remove it from my bill. My problem isn't so much about the food. It's about the fact that they cut off the burnt bread and still served it to me after my first complaint. That's just not right, and its dishonest. If all they had was burnt cornbread, all they had to do is say so. I would have ordered something different. We won't be back, I will tell anyone who asks me. Integrity is a big thing, and The New Mexicans missed the mark. read more

OK, so this is honestly the best review that I've written. This is a wonderful small restaurant with absolutely amazing food & awesome staff! Their food is exceptional. Our server, Candace, answered our questions about what she liked & we went with her advice WOW! I had the carne asada burrito with pulled pork. I'll be thinking about it for a couple of days. This place is amazing!! I walked in and talked to the bus girl, it was her second day. She told me that I want a margarita and the smoked chicken pepper jack enchilada. I had high hopes with all the nice reviews. Sadly it was not up to par. I was given syrup with my French toast when I went to put it on I saw black spots. I checked the syrup and there were ANTS in it. I went up to the 'pay here' sign so that other patrons in the restaurant wouldn't over hear and let them know about the issue. The waitress said sorry and that was it. No other options were given; no refund offered, no offer to remake, no offer for another entree, no mention to the cook/owner; nothing! It creeped me out that I couldn't eat the eggs that had come. I was charged full price for a half cup of apple juice and the ant infested French toast. It made me wonder if there were other things that are being neglected. If you're headed in check out the ceiling fans, they are full of dust! They haven't been properly cleaned in quite some time. Gag! What could be hiding in the kitchen? Fruit flies in the bar liquor? I'm not sticking around to find out. I won't be back. Two stars as the waitress was nice even with a misunderstanding on my part in the beginning. I thought the menu said French toast and two eggs, but the toast was soaked in two eggs. We were in Everett area and someone mentioned this restaurant that it was amazing and we should try it. We were both starving and looking forward to something new and really good. We were so disappointed the service was slow and very disorganized. My husband ordered the bbq pulled pork. After he originally ordered the burger and after waiting 20 minutes they came back and told they were out of burgers. So 45 minutes later we received our food there were only 4 other customers in the restaurant. The pulled pork was so dry tasted as is it was shaved wood and covered in liquid smoke and water is the only way to describe the sauce no spice or flavor. My food was just as bad. Boiled potatoes with wet onions that tasted as if they were heated in the microwave. Let's not forget the ham steak that was dry and difficult to chew. We mentioned to the waitress that the pork sandwich was too bad to eat and sent it back. Then the owner, seemed to be a nice lady came by to talk with us. She tried to defend the food that her and her daughter was eating the same thing and they thought it was wonderful. They for her to say that she was not going to charge us for the meal we sent back as if she was doing us a favor. She then tried to explain that her husband does all the smoking of the meat. We were visiting from out of town, and my in-laws wanted to meet us here so we went. It was about 11:15 on a Sunday morning, and it was busy but not packed. We arrived in 2 waves (there were 6 of us) and we ordered once the first 4 of us arrived. About 40 minutes later the first 3 of the 4 of us who ordered got our food. Then, I waited another 30 minutes for my 1 pancake. While I was waiting, we asked the waitress if my food was coming, and she was VERY rude and dismissive. She said it was our fault for ordering at different times. I told her I had ordered when every one else had and she just walked away. At one point she even offered the other people at our table boxes, and she STILL hadn't brought my food. When it finally did come, one of the waiters dropped it in front of me and walked away before I could even ask for silverware. The rest of our party who did order later, only ever got 1/2 of what they ordered, before we just paid and left, a full 2 hours after we got there. My niece said that the staff is rude every time she's been there, and that she never expects to get everything she ordered. Save the money and skip this spot, it's not worth the time to not get anything served to you, and be completely ignored by the rude staff. read more

We went here for my friends birthday. It was quite busy and there was only one server working. No bartender, no busser, or host. Just one server. I ordered the spinach salad and the small potato salad. The spinach salad was good. It had raisins and almonds and a light vinaigrette dressing, nothing special. It was only 8 dollars but it still felt like a pretty small portion, if I would have just ordered this I would have still been very hungry. The potato salad was only 4 dollars and was a good amount for the cost. The potato salad was enjoyable but not great. Everyones food just looked okay. A kind of dry pulled pork sandwich served on an empty plate(you could have some chips or atleast some chips to make it feel like a meal), sloppy soggy looking nachos. The presentation and overall value were just not there for me. The female server was nice and did a good job making sure we had drinks and such. When we got our food, one of my friends asked the waitress if she could grab her some hot sauce. The server said she could self service and pointed to the hot sauces on the wall. I know they were understaffed but it wouldnt have been much effort for her to ask what kind she wanted and grab it. I do not respect that level of service at any restaraunt and my friend was trapped in the corner of the table and could not get out. It just rubbed me the wrong way. Anyway the server gave us a few cinnamon rolls for free, she said they were to thank us for our patience. I wanted to try one of the enchilada dishes, but as they are prepared lasagna-style, I was unable to have them hold the cheese. I ordered the brisket sandwich with the jalapeno BBQ sauce and a side of Sopapillas. The brisket was dry, dry, dry, and either they put the wrong sauce on, or their jalapenos are not at all spicy. I could not bite through the meat without making a mess, so I took it off the bun and ate it salad style. It comes with beans, and they were spicy, but lukewarm. Not sure if they were meant to be hot or cold since they landed in the middle. The Sopas were very good, though my dining companion pointed out they were thicker than authentic New Mexican ones. Didn't matter to me. I will try a weekend visit next time to see if the food is better. The lunchtime crowd was small, so not sure why the overcooked sandwich and cold beans. read more

Went to The New Mexicans for happy hour on Saturday for the first time. I found the place to be inviting, friendly and the food and service was excellent. The matriarch owner (Evie) of this family run business came over and introduced herself to all members of my party. Such a pleasant woman. Started out with some margaritas which were delicious. Then proceeded to devour four items from the HH menu. The chicken and dumplings were the best I have ever eaten. Each was large and delicious. More than enough to split. The first time I went here it was early afternoon. I got great service and a good pulled pork sandwich. But my party was the only party in there. I recommended this restaurant to my friends and family. I now regret this whole heartedly. My family came here for a birthday dinner. Our wait was almost 2 hours, the food came at different times for each person, the food was not only incorrect but we witnessed it being cooked in the microwave and touched with bare hands to check the temperature. The enchiladas had literally one small piece of ground beef in them, ALL of the food was cold, the fries were very bland and the meat on the sandwiches was dry. Also, drinks are ridiculously priced, a draft beer is $7 and if I recall correctly it was $6 for a bud lite. The service was so horrible that we asked to speak to a manager, his customer service was even worse. We ended up leaving without even eating our food. We are from New Mexico and was excited to see this place open. Food is great, chilies are from Hatch (which if you know anything about New Mexican food that is where they come from ) You can actually purchase frozen chopped chillies which is a bonus. Don't order the "New Mexican Hot" unless you are serious. Extremely hot, get it on the side. The menu is varied, The green enchiladas are my favorite, the cinnamon roll is to die for and the Hawaiian Loco Moco is just like it is in Hawaii. The sopapillas were a little heavy but good. I was with a party of 5 that stopped in for dinner and dessert at the New Mexicans. It was the first visit for all of us, and we were all extremely impressed! The service was friendly, and our redheaded waitress answered all of our questions and refilled drinks multiple times. The menu is interesting and eclectic. I got the red enchiladas with brisket and the New Mexican sauce. Super spicy and awesome, full of flavor. Their fresh strawberry margaritas, also delicious. My friends and I never get dinner and dessert, but the options here sounded way too good to pass up. We had their cheesecake, apple cobbler, and coconut cream pie. ALL OF IT WAS SOO GOOD!!! And for $5 you get a huge portion. We had such an enjoyable time we didn't realize how late it was. We were there 30 minutes past closing but the staff were so nice they didn't even rush us out!
