This place is called "the nice guy" but all the guys working here have an attitude but it's LA so no surprise there. If you can look past that and make sure to always have a reservation vs trying to do a walk-in, you'll actually have an amazing time. The ambiance is very moody and sexy. The restaurant brims with exclusivity. No pictures allowed but there is a Photo Booth that is especially fun after some delicious drinks. Bar is very lively, with drinks flowing you are bound to dance and vibe to the live music/DJ. Yes it is expensive but you pay for the experience. The food and drinks do not fall behind on this rating. As a whole I confidently rate it 5 stars. And I will go back each time I'm in the city, it's that memorable. As for what I ordered: - The JOJO 10/10 I had 4 of these that's how good they are. If you like lemon drops you will like these even more. - chicken strips 7/10 nothing crazy but decent portion and fair enough price - garlic cheese bread 8/10 fan favorite - Brussel sprouts with caesar dressing 9/10 amazing, first time ever having Brussel sprouts served that way. We made a reservation about a week in advance and when we arrived we were told there was only a high top table in the corner available. This was a little off putting but the beautiful atmosphere made it better. Still, my partner was directly facing the door the whole time so it was disappointing especially after making a reservation so far in advance. Service was good and so were the drinks. We shared the crudo as a started and the only way I could describe it was "leathery". It had a thick leathery texture but the flavor was okay and it was balanced with other textures which was nice. For dinner, we both got the lobster pasta which was also just okay but the way they throw in different textures makes it better. The noodles were shells, there was quite a bit of lobster, but there were so many strings of lemon peel. For dessert, we shared the chocolate chip bread pudding which was by far the best part of the meal. I'm all for a pricier dining experience but the quality has to match the prices. Pros: service was pretty good, great dessert, good drinks, live music, free digital Photo Booth, romantic atmosphere. Cons: reservations did not seem to make a difference, leathery fish, pasta dish not great, food overall is a bit weird. Maybe come here for a drink, dessert, and listen to live music. Had a reservation on a Saturday night and we were able to find parking along La Cienenga a few blocks way (less than 5 min walk). Though was a bit scary of a walk at night time. We checked in with the hostess inside since no one was at the hostess stand outside. We were told our table was not ready yet and to wait at the bar and she would come grab us. The place was incredibly dark and crowded. We finally find a seat at the bar and our table was ready about 20-25 minutes after the reservation time. We were sat at a really small table that could barely fit two cups, two plates, and much less the food we ordered. Nevertheless, we made the best out of it. We got the cherry tomato pizza, truffle fries, cheesy garlic bread, and the vodka rigatoni. Tomatoes on the pizza were a bit too sour, the pizza was alright. Nothing to write home about. The truffle fries were pretty good and had a light layer of shaved cheese on top. The cheesy garlic bread came with marinara sauce and had a thick layer of gooey cheese. It was served warm and I did enjoy it. The vodka rigatoni came with rock shrimp and was good, I suppose. There's definitely better vodka pasta in LA. I did get the champagne papi cocktail and that was on the sweeter side but mixed well. Overall, probably not worth coming back. Wish reservation times were honored better and the food . It was incredibly dark like could not read the menu and incredibly loud. I didn't think it was as romantic as we were placed in the middle of the restaurant and could barely hear each other. Unfortunately, the staff are extremely pretentious and rude, they don't do an adequate job of showing you to your table, explaining any questions, or simply being kind. The food was simply okay, the Caesar salad is great but the pizzas are bland and our risotto was mushy and heavily peppered. Overall, sadly we wouldn't come back or recommend this spot to anyone. I went with my girlfriends for dinner and we had a great experience. We got seated at 730pm and had a very sweet waiter, Luther. The yellowtail crudo was flavorful and fresh, although very small. The favorite was chicken parm, a huge dish, which can easily be shared with 2-3 girls. My group is doing dry January, but the non alcoholic Stella was very good! We also loved the bread pudding. The ambiance is moody, low lighting, and chill vibes. They had two people singing and playing guitar for about half of our dinner. Would recommend the nice guy! read more

Came here for date night and also to use my Chase sapphire reserve credits I actually made the reservations for the wrong day, but they were able to accommodate me. We had a really nice intimate dinner in the heated patio, which felt very private and nice. We ordered the calamari and the Caesar salad to start, followed by the skirt steak and the shrimp vodka. The steak was insanely good. The only problem was that we had to wait an hour to get our entrees after getting the appetizer. It was a bit upsetting but the restaurant more than made up for it when they comped us the entrees and some glasses of wine. The last touch was when the manager herself came out to apologize the long wait time. We really appreciated the incredible service and staff for making the most out of the night and being incredibly professional about making things right. Food is decent and staff was very kind to us, however it took what felt like a million years for our food to come out... and the food was not even hot. On top of that, we ordered truffle fries and they gave us regular but I'll admit they did bring out our correct order to make up for it. We had a 9:00 PM reservation made days in advance through Chase Sapphire Reserve. We arrived on time but waited until 9:40 with no table and no solution. The manager said the previous party at our reserved table stayed late, despite the restaurant enforcing a 1.5-hour limit and charging $25 for cancellations. Poorly handled, no accountability, and very disappointing service. If a restaurant can't honor its own reservations but still penalizes guests, it doesn't deserve your business. It's dimly lit and cozy, with a high-end feel but reasonable prices. If you're recommending something to your date, go with the Ricotta Cavatelli. It's fun to say and makes you seem cultured--even if the dish itself is just meh. For yourself, get a pizza or the chicken and waffles. Service was chill, but they took our plates before we were done eating--like, mid-conversation, halfway through the meal. The waiter or busser just swooped in and cleared the table like a ninja. After years of knowing about this LA staple, I finally got to visit last night to celebrate the passing of my boards! Upon walking into the restaurant, you immediately feel like you're walking into the most elegant and beautiful speakeasy. The ambiance is perfect to celebrate any occasion with a gorgeous setup and classy music. From just walking inside, I knew this place was going to be good. My friend and I decided to order a few things to share so we could try a variety of food. Now for the breakdown. * Strozzapreti pesto - If you are a pesto lover like I am, THIS is your dish! It was so creamy, cheesy and rich in pesto flavor. The noodles were cooked to perfection and it was a tasteful dish all around. * Mushroom pizza - The way a restaurant makes pizza really tells you about the kind of Italian restaurant they are and when I bit into the pizza, I think I transported to Italy. I've never been to Italy but my friend has and said it was very close to what they have there. The crust was so light, airy, and had the perfect crisp. The flavors were rich in fontina cheese and olive oil. Before ordering I was concerned regarding size but it is the perfect size to share between two people. * Roasted brussel sprouts - Brussels sprouts are a pretty simple dish usually but The Nice Guy perfected them! The addition of feta cheese to the dish added a great soft texture and cheesiness to the dish. * Tiramisu and pumpkin cheesecake - You can't go to an Italian restaurant and not order tiramisu. The tiramisu was super rich but absolutely delicious. I do believe this is the best tiramisu I've ever had as someone who's never been to Italy. The pumpkin cheesecake was also very good and brought out all the fall flavors. I was absolutely blown away by everything and don't think I can order a pizza from anyone else after visiting this place. The ambiance is perfect and the food was even better than perfection. All of the staff was very friendly and accommodating to any needs. As for a side note, they do have a photobooth that was free which I think is a great addition especially since no photos are allowed inside. I am writing to share my disappointment with the experience I had at The Nice Guy on 9-12-25. I've been a loyal guest for years celebrating birthdays, enjoying date nights, and coming for casual drinks with friends. Until now, I've always had a wonderful time and never encountered an issue other than some rude overwhelmed bartenders. As you know club and restaurant culture in la is pretty much nonexistent anymore and this could be apart of the reason. Yesterday, however, I was treated in a way that left me feeling both unwelcome and disrespected. When I arrived to meet two of my girlfriends who were already inside, I informed the host that I was joining them at the bar and that our table reservation was in 20 minutes. Despite this, he stopped me at the door, held me hostage as if the restaurant would be pack( very empty by the way) searched the computer, and questioned me aggressively and repeatedly in a condescending tone about the reservation name even after I clearly stated it was under "Chantel." What was most upsetting was his comment to my friends earlier when they entered. He told them, "Is your guest going to be dressed appropriately?" When they told him 1 more would be joining. This was repeated to me when I arrived, along with a reference to people coming in with "furry slides." This remark was unnecessary, insulting, and left me questioning why I, specifically, would be singled out for such a comment. As an African American woman, I am no stranger to racism and microaggressions, but I never expect to encounter them in an establishment where I am a paying guest. I asked him is this something you ask everyone or just African Americans because out of alll the years I've come here I've never heard something so disgusting and distasteful! Thankfully, security recognized who I was meeting and allowed me in, after seeing how hurt I was by that comment. but by then the damage was done. Instead of feeling welcomed, I felt targeted and embarrassed. This is unacceptable customer service and not reflective of the standard I have come to associate with your restaurant. I hope you take this feedback seriously and address the behavior of your staff with proper training. Comments like these, whether made consciously or not, are harmful, discriminatory, and create an unwelcoming environment for guests. Unfortunately, after this experience, I will not be returning to The Nice Guy. I am deeply disappointed, and I sincerely hope no other guest has to feel the way I did during my visit. read more

With seating for a mere 20 people, the space quickly feels like a claustrophobic kindergarten classroom where no one wants to be friends. The clientele? Pure L.A. show-off culture at its most insufferable. So, if you're considering here for your next dining adventure, perhaps lower your expectations. NOT FOR DATE NIGHT. 2 of the 5 indoor tables for two are NOT in the dining room. They are in a narrow hallway leading to the patio next to the bar. If you reserve a table for 2, there is a 40% chance you will be seated at a 24x24 inch high-top, too small for the food & drinks. You will be jammed against a wall and not able to even see the plush, beautiful dining room. One of your heads will be less than 2 inches from an overhanging wooden box protruding from the wall. You will have waiters and guests constantly streaming by your table on their way to the patio, leaving the bar, or operating the POS systtem just a few feet away. I had a reservation for 2 at 7:30pm on a Monday night and we arrived on time and were led to this narrow, undecorated area as it was normal. The manager said that was 'how the restaurant was designed." However, though it was designed with that little hallway, it was not designed for seating. The main dining room reflects how the restaurant was 'designed,' plush and beautiful. The person they paid hundreds of thousands of dollars to design a beautiful space didn't say, 'hey, for a few extra bucks, throw a couple tables in this hallway near the bar. That was a manager or owner's decision. See photos attached. Go for the bar, go with larger groups, but NOT for parties of two. You'd be better off anywhere else. read more

This restaurant has so many rules. We followed all of them. My friend and I went to celebrate my birthday. About an hour and 20 minutes into our dinner we got asked to move to another table because they had another party waiting. I've been to a lot of restaurants in West Hollywood, Beverly Hills and nicer than this one. I've never been asked to move tables. It was rude that they moved us, their reason was that they have a 1.5 hour limit, but their website said 2hrs! I just couldn't believe they actually moved us, it was embarrassing. The waiters were attentive, the food and drinks were ok but I will never ever come back. Right before we left, we went to use the wash room, there was a patron arguing with the same manager who moved us about her reservation. She was not happy either. They clearly have issues with their reservation system. read more

What a fun and festive place! We decided to try martini Mondays and we had a blast. The food was really good. We did have to send back the pasta because it was a little harder than al dente. But other than that, we had the plate meal with cesar salad and pasta, the brussel sprouts, and cheesy garlic bread. Will definitely come back. We decided to give up our table and move to the bar.
