This was our first time here. The dining room is very cute and quaint. They have 2 different stands when you enter - the one you walk right into is for cashing out at the end of your meal; the one to your left (which you don't even notice because you head for the one right in front of you) is where you check-in for a table. Kind of weird set up. We were seated immediately and our sever came by promptly. The water bottle he brought had floaties that sank to the bottom, so.. that's kind of gross. The coffee was great! Our food was really fantastic. The bacon was cooked well - I HATE limp bacon and this was cooked very well. I did ask for Tabasco instead of the hot sauce they already had on the table. The bottle he brought had a significant crust around the neck right where the cap screws down. So - that was ALSO kind of gross. Overall, the food was good; the decor is cute; service was perfectly fine but.... with the floaties in the water and the crusty Tabasco bottle, I think we will try elsewhere moving forward. read more

I came here for the first time last week after my daughters swim lesson. I have to say everyone was friendly, we got seated pretty quickly considering it was a Saturday morning! The kids menu had lots of great options, my daughter loved the gigantic happy face chocolate chip pancake she got! I went with one of the Benedict's which was pretty good but nothing stellar. The service was exceptional, we were checked on numerous times by our waitress, which I appreciated. When I left I realized they had some awesome seasonal items, that I wish I had known about (it was never mentioned and I couldn't see the board from where we were seated!) My friends and I went to the nook this morning. I took my cup of water from home in with me. I always take my own because I only drink RO water and try hard not to drink restaurant water. The management came over and said I couldn't have any beverages brought in from outside- said it was corporate policy. What? I've frequented this place many times and have always carried my own water in. They've said nothing before. I offered him to look into my insulated mug to see for himself but he didn't want to even do that. My friends and I walked out and vowed to never go there again. First they tried to control us with the masks. Some businesses even tried to limit your access if you didn't take the j*b. Now it's your water cup. I've had enough of this control stuff. We've eaten here several times with our kids before sending them off to school. Originally We chose this place bc it was the only place close by that was open early enough, but we keep going back bc the owners and servers are so friendly! Our last visit, they saw us pull up and before we were inside they had already set our table and it was ready for us as soon as we stepped in the door! That's amazing service! Food was average skillet had way too many potatoes compared to other ingredients. French toast was nothing fancy but still delicious. Kale refresher was really good. It was a bit hot outside so some sort of mist for tables outside and for people waiting outside would be great. Expect to wait about 30 mins during weekends. Two eggs any style (over medium); Sausage, ham or (I chose) bacon which was 4 slices; Fruit, salad or (I chose) potatoes which filled the plate and needed no seasoning as the rosemary is wonderful: toast or (I chose) English muffins which were dense yet soft with Smuckers apple butter and blackberry (my faves). I don't know what's going on here, but the food quality seems to have gone downhill recently. The last three times I've been there I've asked for fruit instead of potatoes on my breakfast, and every time the fruit has been spoiled and sour. The biscuits and gravy is filled with flour lumps and the gravy is so thick, it's like it's been kept warm for days and is drying up. Do the servers cooks not see it or do they not care. Bacon comes out so undercooked I'm concerned about eating it. I've never worked in a restaurant, my understanding is either a person in the kitchen observes every plate and approves it for quality before the server takes it or the server is supposed to make sure the quality is there. Went for breakfast with a friend on a Friday morning , it was busy but we were seated right away , even got a outdoor table and was able to enjoy the cooler morning. Right away we got glasses of ice water and ordered some coffee. The coffee was good. I ordered the Persian Benedict with potatoes , and it was absolutely delicious. I love this spot for brunch! It's my go-to when meeting my SE Valley friends. On my recent visit, I tried the Hiker's Benedict. So incredibly yummy!! Every part of it was perfection! I subbed out the potatoes for fresh fruit thinking I was making a healthy choice then ordered a side pancake to split with my friend. Their pancakes are huge and delicious. My friend ordered the Denver Omelette and said it was wonderful. The service was superb and attentive. The wait to be seated was under 15 minutes which was less than other times I have dined there. It's well worth the wait! I drive from North Phoenix, passing many other brunch places along the way. Wouldn't make the long drive if I wasn't impressed by the entire experience. read more

Now I remember. This was the Egg and I. And it was mediocre. I rated it two stars originally. Amusing that their wifi is the same (Egg and I) even though they are called the "NOOK". But maybe new management? Better food? I ordered the Mexican skillet. A bit small on the portion, but adequate. As I dug in it was mostly potato, some burned to point of being bitter. I just about sent it back twice, but then another bite would be not burned. Probably should have sent it back on principle. Inconsistent flavor. Lots of bites with no green chili flavor. Just potato and egg. When there was flavor it was fine, but really a poor performance. When asked how my meal was, there was no concern expressed when I said the meal was mediocre. No follow-up, no nothing. Just "oh". They are not going to be in business that long if that's the level of their concern for customer satisfaction. Yes, I have "experienced better". Way better. Came in at 8am didn't have to wait for a table. Literally walked in, we were taken to a table and our server walked up. I didn't catch her name but she is the sweetest lady with the beautiful accent. I feel like she's a family member with the care and attention she provides. We've been here multiple times and stuck to our usual omelettes. If your place isn't crowded between 8-9am on a Sunday morning that should be you first warning sign that it this place isn't good. Owner - thanks for the comment. After my son's dentist appointment next door at Kidtastic, my husband and I found ourselves hungry and wanted to try a new breakfast spot. The Nook looked great with indoor and outdoor seating and a great breakfast and lunch menu. Parking is available in the plaza lot. Upon arrival, the hostess took our name and said it would be a 20 minute wait for inside seating, however, it only took about 10 minutes. We had a nice, spacious booth towards the back of the restaurant. The service was very quick and efficient. While we were waiting we chose what we wanted to eat, so when our server came over we ordered our drinks and breakfast all at once. She brought over ice water, I tried the kale green juice, and the avocado bacon scramble with an oatmeal pancake on the side. My husband ordered biscuits and gravy. We waited less than 10 minutes before our food was served to us. I really enjoyed my scramble, but I hated the oatmeal pancakes. It did not taste like anything. I would highly encourage against ordering that. My husband enjoyed his breakfast just fine. All together, it was a simple stop, the food was good, the service was great, and the environment was fun. Clean space and friendly service just not great food. Typical diner quality. I ordered the avocado toast on sour dough. It must have been plain white bread or bad quality sour dough. Okay, yum!! We're new to the area and today we finally had the same day off so I asked my hubby if we could do a breakfast date. My sister in law had told me about "The Nook" so we decided to go check it out. The restaurant is laid out well, tastefully decorated with a good mix of booths and tables throughout. They also offer patio seating but it was chilly this morning so we opted to sit inside. They have a nice menu of specials (see picture) as well as a regular menu with a good offering of breakfast and lunch items. I opted for the Cinnamon Chip Waffle Special. It included a Belgium waffle with cinnamon chips inside and a cinnamon cream butter on top as well as two eggs and a choice of meat. The waffle could have been just a bit more toasted but was beyond delicious. It tasted like an upscale cinnamon roll. My hubby created his own omelette with ham, mushrooms and jack cheese. His meal came with an English Muffin and a choice of side. He chose their breakfast potatoes which were little bite sized, perfectly roasted and seasoned bites of oh my goodness graciousness! I only have a couple suggestions. The first being that they get new cleaning rags. Although I'm sure it was clean...the rag the hostess used to clean our table was dingy looking. And, as I mentioned before...the waffle needed to be cooked a bit more. That said, we'll definitely be back and highly recommend The Nook! read more

This HAS to be one of the best breakfast places not only in the Southeast Valley, but in all of Arizona. Their seasonal choices are always divine - best pumpkin pancakes we have EVER had, anywhere, hands down. Their green juice is AmAhZing!!!!! Start with it and let it set 10 minutes before you order your breakfast to get the full benefit of the fresh enzymes - gut health is important and they know it. It's like medicine that tastes GOOD. Never fret, green is pretty and apples make is so refreshing and lovely. Benedict's are good. Bacon is good. Sausage is fresh. Ask the waitress what toast is the best of the day. Most often I'm all over sourdough, or whatever is bakery fresh. Delectable breakfasts to try. Make sure to pay homage to seasonal favorites! And yes, their coffee is good! read more

All you have to do is read her response and you can see that I am right. Catastrophic illness? Seriously. So you have no one else to ask to come in? Half your tables are out of service. Excuses. The meal was ok after we had it replaced. No one came over several times after that recooking of the meal. We were ignored. You can't hire competent staff? Train them on a weekday afternoon not in a busy weekend. And seriously how hard is it to cook French Toast? You trade in the business world and you are so thinned skinned. I have sons who've managed in the restaurant world, running bigger places than yours. They've learned a simple "hey we're sorry, give us another try" goes along way. EVERYTHING WAS PERFECT!! The bacon was thick with great texture and taste. the Pancake was huge,fluffy, moist and so good you don't need a lot of syrup (which they bring out hot) to soak it in. That was the wife's choice that I may have had a bite of. Lol My choice was the Texas skillet and English muffin with a side of biscuits and gravy and boy was that delicious. The muffin was actually done right and buttered well. And I could go on about the rest because it was great but I will proceed to our amazing server who made us feel wanted there and at home. We always like to support local when staying at our home in Gilbert. Saw this place online, photos of the food looked decent and was craving pancakes and an omelette. Upon entering the restaurant, the hostess area felt dingy and needed a good scrubbing, maybe it was the decor, not sure but just felt dusty. Waited 15 minutes to be seated. Booths and floors were dirty. Our table was still wet but there were food around our table from the previous guests. When the food arrived, the potatoes were cold, eggs were runny and tasted like it came from a carton, pancakes were large and generous-sized but unfortunately lacked flavor and mostly just for looks. Nothing special about this place, was really hoping to like it since it was so close to our home. Glad we tried it but definitely better breakfast spots out there. read more
