What an amazing little gem! I've wanted to check this place out for several months now and finally got the chance to try it. Let me start by saying everything was delicious and fresh--especially that cinnamon roll! The pork belly Benedict and the breakfast sandwich were both equally outstanding. You can tell they are very much loved in the community by the eclectic mix of people who come in for the food. I love when a place is truly food- and service-forward because it shows they actually care about the visitor's experience and want to build lifelong friendships and loyal customers. We started coming here in 2019 when we first moved to AZ. I know the restaurant business is difficult but the Nook has lowered its standards too many times over the years to continue to go there. Lunch for two...$51.96 before tax & tip. I don't mind paying this for a lunch for two especially with a couple Bloody Mary on the tab, but I also want to know the drinks aren't virgin. That being said, the flavor was great just pretty sure they left out the 90 proof! My wife had a BLTA, she loves bacon and when she saw the menu "piled high with crispy bacon" on that sandwich she was sold. With a side of greens good lunch, huh? I don't call 1-1/2 strips piled high with crispy bacon! That was on the entire sandwich 1-1/2 strips? We pictured the second half before she ate it to show the bacon "piled high"! While she attempted to enjoy her greens she came across a piece of lettuce that was actually decomposing! My meal was a 1/2 club and cup of soup. I had the Southwest beef stew it was very tasty, but I would say the cup was the smallest cup of soup I've ever seen. The Classic Club sandwich was suspect as well. I've always had my club sandwich as a decked sandwich with bacon, lettuce and turkey and maybe ham. This had bacon, more than my wife's BLT and ham with cheddar and jack cheeses, regular assembly on the sandwich, not decked or cut in the classic club style. Something I thought would be normal for a "classic club". My lunch flavors were all good though, something I can't say for my wife's. Our group of four had an enjoyable breakfast at The Nook, a solid spot for a casual meal in the Gilbert area. We stopped in looking for a new breakfast spot, and it was a great find! Since my wife loves breakfast and I prefer lunch, the menu was perfect for both of us. Despite it being very busy with only a few open tables--and a lively mahjong tournament happening outside--we were seated immediately Our drink order took a moment to get started, but once it did, the service was excellent. Decided to visit this local spot that seemed to be really popular while out in Gilbert. It was a okay size inside, but had enough seating. My breakfast was amazing, I love when menu options have a sweet and food option to it. The waffles were especially tasty with the fruit included. The Nook is a little to the East of the Higley and Queen Creek intersection on the south side of the road. It's away from vehicle and foot traffic enough to be a quaint location. The indoor seating isn't very large but has enough tables to seat a good crowd. Simple wooden chairs and booths adorn the interior and typical metal chairs and tables on the small patio on the west side of the restaurant. I dined by myself during a slower period and since I've never been here before I went with the simple Two Egg Breakfast (it comes gluten free). I asked for my eggs over easy, pork patties and the English muffin. The eggs were good but one was definitely cooked a little longer on the yolk than the other. No big deal. The English muffin was large and soft and tasty. Unfortunately it didn't come with butter and I forgot to ask for some...probably good calories to avoid. The highlight of the dish were the ranch potatoes. Not only were there a lot of them, they were perfectly seasoned and had a blend of crisp exterior and soft interior. The weakest part of the plate were the two sausage patties...a little rubbery texture and not a lot of taste. My server was a sweetheart and very attentive...helped being one of the two active tables she had. Nevertheless she asked if I needed anything at least five times in fifteen minutes. Still forgot to ask for butter each time... For what you get, the $14.25 price tag is a little steep...can find similar dishes for $2-4 cheaper at other breakfast places. But I'm not deterred to trying other more exotic items on their menu. The Green Chili Chicken Skillet sounds delicious. There have been good times and bad times at The Nook! Our first visits were so nice (pre-COVID) our last two visits have been huge disappointments. First off I ordered my breakfast skillet with the hollandaise on the side because I absolutely hate hollandaise sauce. The service was quick but the person that brought our food to the table was not the server that took our order; my breakfast was drowning in hollandaise sauce. When our original server checked on us I pointed out the mistake and she "was sorry to hear that". I 100% expected compensation not just a very lame attempt at an apology. Fast forward to today, it's our 46th wedding anniversary and we decided to have lunch at the Nook. I ordered the BLTA because the menu description sounded so good. The sandwich was described as "loaded" with crispy bacon; what I got was 2 barely toasted pieces of white bread, 2 slices of bacon (both on one 1/2 of my sandwich, none on the other half), limp lettuce I had to pick off and possibly 1 very thin slice of avocado sliced into small pieces and dispersed over both sides of the sandwich, each 1/2 was given 1 slice of tomato there wasn't even mayonnaise or anything moist on the bread (except tomato juice and lettuce water). I had the dressed greens on the side which included a piece of completely decomposed lettuce, it was basically a fossil leaf. I'm sorry but if this is the best you can do don't charge $15.99 also if you're going to charge $10.99 for a Bloody Mary put the booze in it! Oh and again the server who delivered our food to us was not the server that took our order (it was however the same server that gave us the lame apology during our previous visit). The outdoor patio is very inviting but today it was swarming with flies which added insult to injury. read more

We have gone to The Nook so far back that it was once called The Egg and I. This is at least 15 years of patronage. Our loyally was because of ONE EMPLOYEE, Mary Ellen. She greets everyone with, "hello love"! She's a kind woman who, in all our years of dining there and seeing her interact with customers, has never made an inappropriate comment to anyone! Apparently last week (12/28/25) a baby let out a very loud screech and Mary Ellen said, "oh my"! The parent(s) took offense and complained to management. As a result she was let go. What an insulting response from the owner, Sean Anderson, because HE WAS NOT PRESENT to be able to assess the situation but believed the words of his manager which was relayed to him after the customer complained. So the ENTIRE, minor incident was misinterpreted and Mary Ellen was not given her fair say in what happened. We have already reduced our average of 2-3 days a week dining there to one day a week (Sunday when Sean is not there) and now we will not dine there any longer! It was agonizing enough to know our money was supporting Sean's business but we frequented the restaurant because we supported Mary Ellen and she was a GREAT way to start our Sunday as well as week! I can't help to wonder how the absence of Mary Ellen will impact his business. I am certain (because Mary Ellen has told me) that many customers dine there because of her and can't stand Sean. read more

Had breakfast at The Nook Breakfast Eatery in Gilbert and it was a great start to the day. I ordered the blueberry pancakes and they were absolutely amazing. Light, fluffy, and packed with blueberries, with just the right balance of sweetness. You can tell they're made fresh and they really hit the spot. I will never come to this restaurant again or recommend it to anyone. We left shortly after being seated. I have a heart condition that requires me only to have water with electrolytes in it otherwise I start to go in to tachycardia and get very nauseous. I always carry my water bottle with me with my water, because most places do not the water I need. Shortly after sitting down the waitress told me they needed to take my water bottle I said no, and they sent the manager. I have never been talked to so condescendingly and she accused me of wanting to put alcohol in it. I don't even drink. We were there with my kids to celebrate my sons birthday. Terrible customer service. I've lived in Arizona for almost 10 years now and NOT ONCE has any restaurant ever tried to take my water bottle from me. And we eat out frequently. This is a tradition neighborhood breakfast spot! From the decorating and lay out to the location. This style of breakfast place is my favorite! The atmosphere is always welcoming and pleasant here. The Nook is right by our house so we've come often. Honestly, I would give it 3 1/2 to 4 stars. Sometimes there's a wait but the staff's always friendly. This time we ordered eggs benedict, biscuits and gravy, green chili chicken skillet and the texas steak skillet. We loved the eggs beni, the biscuits and gravy were pretty standard and the skillets we all had different opinions about but it definitely had a lot of flavor. This place was extremely busy, we were 7th on the wait list. We wanted to do outside seating, but I guess they didn't have enough staff to provide for outside? For as busy as this place is, it's disappointing to see they weren't allowing outside seating. The amount of money lost from not filling your tables... We got a table by the restrooms, gladly we couldn't smell them lol. The food was quick to come out, we got the Belgian waffle (berries), and it was probably the best waffle I've ever had. I ordered biscuits and gravy and was a bit disappointed. I felt "whataburger" had better biscuits and gravy. The biscuit was sticky (tacky) in the middle, as if it wasn't baked long enough. And the potatoes were "meh". The place has really nice juice drinks, we did enjoy those. For as busy as it was they definitely maintained cleanliness as well. Our waitress was very tentative to our table, always checking up on us. We enjoyed our meal enough, but we weren't bamboozled by it. The waffle did bamboozle us but nothing else. This place is a hidden gem! I came here for a late brunch with my family today and I was so pleasantly impressed! We were seated right away and everyone I interacted with had a smile on their face. The manager even thanked us for coming when we were leaving. I got an iced coffee and the cinnamon roll, which was devilish and unbelievably good. I couldn't finish the whole thing as it was almost as big as the plate! The rest of my family got sandwiches and they all really enjoyed their food. We learned today (1/2/26), that their 15-year employee, Mary Ellen , known to us as "Hello Love" was fired! She was surprised by a young child who screamed and her response was "Oh My." This customer complained to the manager claiming that Mary Ellen said the parents should control their child, which was not the case. We made it a point to never visit The Nook when the owner, Sean Anderson, was present as he is disrespectful, non-customer oriented and personally insulted me as a veteran on Memorial Day 2025. The irony here is what he did is parallel to what Mary Ellen did yet she got fired and not him and that's because he's the owner. Interesting to note how it comes out that the owner feels it's OK to make an insignificant comment, but an employee who makes an insignificant comment about a child's outburst is fired. We only visited this restaurant because of the friendly Mary Ellen and her welcoming personality. This restaurant will be losing our business and potentially the loyalty of many other customers who enjoyed visiting Mary Ellen. Side note: back when eggs were expensive (early 2025) Sean (owner) stopped providing 10% senior discounts because he said with the increase in the cost of eggs he can't afford to provide the discount any longer. Egg prices have come down and are back in line with where they were prior to the increase. However, the senior discount has not resumed. read more

Was enjoying a visit at Perspire today with my husband and decided to get some breakfast takeout. Tucked in the same corner, we figured The Nook would be a perfect option. I called ahead and when we walked over 15 minutes later, it was ready and waiting for us! There was a lovely picnic area near by and we decided to enjoy our takeout there instead of drive home! We got one breakfast burrito, an order of crepes and a kale juice to share. I really appreciated all the fixing that came with the burrito! I love all the sauces and toppings, so it was prepared after my own heart. It came with a side of pico, guacamole, salsa, sour cream, lettuce and chili, as well as a side of potatoes. The burrito was delicious and the potatoes weee seasoned perfectly. The crepes were unique, with a berry, cottage cheese, cream cheese and yogurt filling, served with whipped cream, blueberry compote and granola topping. They were good, but cold, I'm not sure if it's the way they're served or because of the fillings- still very good overall. Lastly, the kale juice. Total was 31 and change before type. It all hit the spot. Though it was tasty and exactly what we needed, I wouldn't go out of my way to return, especially because it's about 30 minutes away.
