Decor - beautiful! Food - so so good and there are gluten free options listed on the menu which I love! Hubby is a pizza SNOB AND LOVE LOVE LOVEDDDDD the pizza! Wished there was more pulled pork in it but overall good experience... perfect for date night and large spaces so you can reserve for groups too as I saw it set up...

Ordered carry out. Filet medium rare. Suppose to come with broccolini. Got asparagus instead which is awful. This is my medium rare steak which is hard as a hockey puck. This restaurant is going downhill. This is the second time I've eaten here in 6 months and it was terrible.

The ambiance here is so warm and inviting--it immediately makes you feel comfortable and welcome. The servers are consistently kind, attentive, and genuinely friendly, which adds so much to the overall experience. I've loved everything I've tried on the menu, from the classics to the more creative dishes, but the duck fat chicken wings are truly unforgettable--crispy, flavorful, and perfectly cooked. It's the kind of place where you can enjoy a casual night out or celebrate something special, knowing the food and service will always be excellent. Every visit feels like a treat, and I can't wait to come back again!

Ask the Community - The Oak Barrel

    Do they do beer flights?

They offer samples, ~1oz, for a small fee but I don't know if they offer "flights" explicitly - I never tried.

Do they have a corkage fee if we bring our own wine? If so, how much?

I think is 12.99 if you bring your own

Do you seat high chairs on the patio? What is the wait like on the weekend?

Is handicap accessible ? What are the price range of main dishes? Do still have the pork shank and also do you have fried fish

The loft is not handicapped accessible but the dining room is. Prices range from $10 - 29 for our food options. I don't believe we will ever get rid of the pork shank that is my favorite and yes we have a poboy sandwich and a fried fish dinner.

Can you purchase a gift card?

    Yes

I don't drink anymore, so seeing a non alcoholic drink section was nice to see. I was made aware that the base of the Aplos was very herbal and tart. The first one brought to me was very tart. Very, very tart. I was not a fan, my dad was going to drink it, our waitress: Deja noticed and offered to have it remade. I accepted, the bartender came out to drop it off and explained how she changed it up. She stood by me and waited until I tried it. A bit much, it was better. The tartness was only at the end for a brief moment. They didn't have a specific gluten free menu, but Deja did tell us what was naturally gluten free and/or could be modified. A lot of the food is made in house. A lot of it looked appealing, but they had gluten free noodles that were not made in house. So I went with a trusted filet mignon cooked medium. The demi glace was an excellent touch. The potatoes were pretty good. The broccolini wasn't what I was hoping for. My parents dishes were much larger. Leftovers were had and enjoyed on a second day. I would maybe try the short ribs next time we would go. The building is very rustic and decorative. The bathroom is upstairs; an elevator is present is needed. A very interesting place. Staff and kitchen very accommodating. The prices are high for the amount you're given. Would love some in house pasta that is gluten free with an in house sauce. I was there primarily for the company. Not my favorite spot. I would be willing to go again.

I met a friend for breakfast this morning, and everything from start to finish was spot on. I ordered the Sweet Jalapeño Sandwich: an English muffin piled with jam, bacon, an egg cooked over medium, and cheddar, served with home fries. It was the perfect balance of sweet, savory, and just a little kick. My friend stuck with her usual: the Banana & Bourbon Caramel Bread Pudding French Toast, topped with fresh bananas and their homemade bourbon caramel sauce, plus a side of pork belly. It looked incredible and, according to her, tasted just as good as it always does. We arrived just a few minutes after they opened at 8:00 and were seated right away. The service was friendly, attentive, and very prompt without feeling rushed. Scratch has such a great casual, local diner feel, but with a menu that's anything but ordinary. The portions are generous, the flavors are unique, and the quality is consistently excellent. Definitely a go-to spot for breakfast or brunch...you really can't go wrong here.

White walls, glass windows in front, a few things hung on the walls. Not fancy, but pleasant. Very clean. The food is phenomenal. I've been dreaming about their biscuits and gravy since my last visit. Still perfect. The home fry-style potatoes are what a lot of places try to serve but fail at miserably. They are crispy AND fluffy! Yum! My scrambled eggs were not at all greasy or oily. My iced tea was delicious and refreshing. My lovely wife had the chorizo hash, which I tried. Oh, my. So good. And the chipotle crema on top was just perfect. They have excellent diner coffee here as well. My service experience was immaculate the first time and just OK today. He was fine initially, but I feel like he kind of forgot about us after he checked on our food. We were stuck way in the back. Maybe he was on a break, which is fine. I spent time as a waiter in two different restaurants, so I'm sympathetic, but I did not get a drink refill, and I wanted one pretty badly. This is one of my favorite breakfast spots, and it feels like a hidden gem.

I watched this awful looking dive bar transition from an eye sore in the neighborhood, to thriving bar, restaurant and small local band venue over the past 20 years. John & his wife have succeeded in turning the local eye sore into a restaurant with indoor and outdoor seating serving up some amazing food. Their burgers are out of this world! The chicken wings can hold their own over many of the people that claim to fame their own. The gyro's and other Greek dishes give a real taste of the other side of the world! I'm not a drinker, but they do have a full bar both inside and outside. They offer catering and delivery for your events! The outside venue has local bands play on certain nights and has a covered, heated patio with a cast-iron stove/fireplace. The place is always clean and the service is beyond reproach! We shared the loco moski, paprikash sandwich, and a side of bacon wrapped tots (good option if you just want 2 and not the full appetizer). While the bacon wrapped tots are famous from Food Network's Diners, Drive-ins, and Dives, I actually liked the loco moski and paprikash sandwich more. The loco moski is a fun combination between a loco moco but with pierogi, and I like that the peppered gravy wasn't too rich. The paprikash sandwich was also a great combo of chicken, sausage, peppers, cheese, paprikash, on lightly crispy bread. Parking available as free street parking--though you may have to circle to find parking since it's near the Christmas House. Staff were nice and efficient. The place does feel a little tight in terms of space with less lighting, but there's still plenty of seating and what matters to me more is good food. Overall, great place to try local food. I wanted to try the pierogi and the Polish boy and the KRAUT and having an extensive beer menu doesn't hurt either. Friendly neighborhood watering hole literally on the corner and basically across the street from the a Christmas story house allowing you to eat within eye sight of the leg lamp. I wanted basically everything from the menu that came vegan (spoiler alert there are tons and tons of things) but gastric space comes at a premium on vacation so we settled on the fried cheese. I was very excited to see the Polish boy (and vegan option no less) I didn't have much of a choice. GF ordered the vegan pierogi platter with vegan kielbasa on a bed of kraut. Firstly the fried cheese was head and shoulders above any mozz sticks or anything of the sort that I have had in memory. The breading is seasoned and crispy and heaven on earth. The cheese is PIPING. Like you will burn yourself if you, like me, have no patience. The accompanying tomato sauce is also steaming. So good. The Polish boy was also in a league of its own. Love that they have a vegan version. What a combo. Probably one of Cleveland's most important community contributions. We ordered the latkes to go and they were orgasmic. What a special place.
