Great food, drinks and live music. Camping off 903, we stumbled upon this place looking for an easy dinner and a few drinks. Food hits the spot and the prices are fantastic. A generous steak dinner can be had for around $15. The burgers and fries looked great, and the portions generous to huge. Drinks are poured roadhouse style (that is, strong), and the waitstaff is attentive and polite without hovering. Great place for a break from the woods. The only minor complaint is that with windows and doors open in summer, cigarette smoke wafts inside a bit. Only an issue when eating, otherwise no big deal. Especially fun was what appeared to be their local house band, "Naked Bacon." They really knew how to pull the crowd to the dance floor and sounded fantastic. The songs included "In Memory of Elizabeth Reed" - as a lifelong Allman Bros fan, I thought they nailed it. I talked to the guitar player for a bit who said they are there again August and Labor Day weekend. If we're camping in the area Labor Day, we will definitely stop in. read more

We were out bicycle riding through the tourist trap that is Roslyn and continued a few miles further and found this little Gem in Ronald. Good food, beer and friendly service (admittedly though the bottom bun on my burger was a little soggy). The place was super clean and well maintained, highly recommended if you're in the neighborhood. I stopped in a couple days ago to use the bathroom only. I realize this is sometimes rude but we have all had to do it. I am a local and eat here fairly often with my friends. This was the first time I have ever met Scott, one of the owners and the last because I will never go back in. When I came out of the bathroom and went to my car he followed me out and up to my car glaring at me until I rolled down the window to see what was the matter with him. he told me never to come back to his establishment again unless I was going to buy something! I will never be back in there again and I will also tell all of my friends how rude he was. There is a nice way and a rude way to say everything and he was nothing but a very rude person. read more

Just outside of Roslyn, WA there's a speck of a town called Ronald that I would have never even known about had I not just spent the weekend in a log cabin with a theatre company. Maybe I should blame television for this, but I believe that "Small-Town America" is almost synonymous with good breakfast and even if they fear the outside world they're at least welcoming when a few of them are passing through town. Then there's the Old #3- a bar/restaurant and probably the social hub for the people of Ronald, and *only* Ronald based on the we-don't-take-kindly-ta-city-folk looks that were shot at us. The first thing I noticed over the blare of televised football, was hundreds of one dollar bills on the walls, all defaced with peoples names, some dated recently. I thought that it might be a nice sentiment to add one with our theater company's name to the mix. When the waitress came by I asked about them. She grudgingly replied that they came from the old #3 before it burned down. "So the old Old #3 burned down?" "Yep" And that was all I got. No "would you like to add a dollar to our wall?" or even "I'm sorry but we stopped doing that to commemorate those lost in the fire". That was pretty emblematic of the service. The food was okay- just kind of bland and there. The chicken-fried steak was a little tough and the "sausage" gravy a bit watery and made with bacon. Also, apparently "scrambled" and "over-easy" both mean over-easy. This was a table-wide epidemic, not just one or two orders. Out of 8 people, I was the only one to get the correct eggs, but then I was the only one to order them over-easy. The Old #3 made me feel like we were intruding. Yes, there were 8 of us, but they weren't busy , we weren't loud or obnoxious, we didn't make fun of or look down on the place, we looked relatively normal, we didn't make any unreasonable demands, and we weren't welcome. I did finally ask if I could add to the wall of money and the waitress plopped a plastic container of markers and a stapler in front of me for an answer. I wrote the theatre company's name and had each of the members sign it, grabbed a chair, and stapled it high on the wall near the entrance, but there's a little piece of me that feels it was taken down shortly after we left. read more

First time here after a tough snowshoe (Hex Mtn) so granted was starved but the food was great! Had a cheeseburger and onion rings and roslyn dark beer. There was good flavor and not a drop of grease! No grease in the burger or onion ring or french fries or sweet potato fries! Service was excellent even though they were breaking in a new computer system which was causing some challenges - expectedly so. One negative comment and star off is the electronic noise inside was too loud - music, TV - whatever it was too loud. Women's restroom was very clean. Easy parking. All good and I would go here again. They had a prime rib special on Friday if we could wait but we could not. They do have Happy Hour but not on the the day we went -Friday. Decent beer selection and a full bar. Big menu IMHO. They had a fish and chip special that looked good too so lots of things I'd like to come back and try. Kudos to the kitchen! This is an unexpected gem in tiny town and worth a stop. Only other suggestion is they don't have a website and I would love to see a little bit on the history of the place and where the name comes from. Their logo looks like a coal mine car in front of a mountain hinting at the origin of the name, but I don't really know and I think the history would be interesting to visitors. read more

Went on a poker run put on by this place. I had been once before and wanted to take the wife sometime on a ride. However, not one person knew what the hell was going on with the run or how we even scored our cards. The worst thing, the reason I am posting this, is that when it was time to do the raffle drawing that I waited all day for, the lady looked through the paper and called out the names she chose. (No random drawing) Nobody was surprised that the table with 75% of the winners were all regulars. Way to go morons. Not coming back to this place and am sure to let others know about the scam if they try and put on another event. read more

Great place for some food, drink and some sports! We stopped in on a Sunday morning after touring through the area the day before and then staying in Cle Elum. We wanted to watch a particular football game and the owner put the game on that we wanted, in an area of the restaurant that really worked and made sure the volume was up enough for us to hear. We had a great omelet for breakfast and then even some lunch after that. Service was beyond great! And the owner is a veteran with great loyalty to our country! (Talked with him several times while we were there.) Just a great place to hang out with good people! read more

As previously noted, there's definitely a new feel to the Old #3. The ceiling used to be full of hats and grungy dollar bills lined the walls. These have all been discarded. If you never saw the old place you'd probably walk in and think nothing of it. It's now a regular place with no distinguishing characteristics. It could be a run of the mill bar/restaurant anywhere in the country. I missed the character. My husband missed the golf video game. The food is fine, nothing amazing, but nothing to write home about. Basic bar food, burgers, sandwiches and fried food. The service was also fine, not amazing. The food did come quickly and the waitress was kind enough to bring me some crunchy, delicious pickles. They really hit the spot. However on a trip to the restroom, the toilet seat fell off the toilet. It's not attached. I'm sure it was at one point, but obviously it's been broken for awhile. Then the toilet wouldn't flush. I even lifted the lid on the tank to see if the chain had just come loose. Nope, it just slowly runs. What a lovely last thought as we headed out the door. read more

Great place and great food. The bacon burger is very tasty, better meat than the Brick, but the bun doesn't hold up, burger fell apart after two bites. Who likes to eat their hamburger with a fork? Not me! Major disappointment! Come on Old #3, buy some sturdier buns! read more

The food is good old fashioned American food - I have no complaints. The drinks are good - not weak but just strong enough. At one time, they had an outside area where they would let me bring in my dog - what's not to like? And most importantly, I've had good service each and everytime I've been there. read more

I am from the area and I remember sitting in the Old#3 when I was just a little kid. There used to be hundreds of hats and miner's helmets on the ceiling and they were all lost when the bar burned down. In response to previous reviews, I am sorry that you were given mis-information regarding the origin of the $1 bills. The bills were not rescued from the old building, that was a COMPLETE loss. There was nothing left at all. The money on the wall became a new tradition because the health codes were a little strict about used hats hanging above food :) I however have never found that the people are rude or un-welcoming to anyone from out of town. Our towns in this area survive on tourism and we do not mind intrusion, it has been happening for years. As far as bikers and riders being "kicked" out of the area, I am not sure where you all have been visiting but dirt biking, snowmobiling and other recreational sports are also a big part of our economy and we welcome those who choose to ride here, Suncadia may have taken up some land but there is plenty left and they have helped our economy and un-employment rate immensely. Without them, there wouldn't be any town left to come visit. In addition, the gentleman that bought the Old#3 and rebuilt it is a biker himself and welcomes all brand of bikers at his bar. I have seen it and if you take a drive through Cle Elum, Roslyn and then Ronald on a summer day, you will see a large number of bikes parked everywhere along the sides of the road. I hope the some obviously crass and bitter reviewers will not scare anyone away from visiting our area or the Old #3. It is a fun and lively place full of friendly and welcoming people who love to chat and share stories. The food and drink are awesome and you will not regret your visit. read more

I have been to the old #3 on many occasions and it has always been a welcoming place. Sometimes too loud, many times the staff complains too much about the managing of the place, well if they do not like it, let them leave, especially in this day and time plus they are NOT the owners. Too many people are looking for work. The food is GOOD, good old american hamburgers etc. The serving of alcohol though has to be less and not over serve their guests. That could spell trouble. read more
