Thoroughly enjoyed dinner for 4 last night at this vintage restaurant concept. All of our meals were delicious, especially the mzithra pasta and the caesar salads. Ordered a full bottle of Menage a Trois wine to ensure its freshness. Spumoni dessert included with dinner, was an unexpected treat. Our server Sarah was extremely pleasant and made for a fun evening. Sure the decor is a little dated, but I understand, because there are too many artifacts and wood features to be easily remodeled. I placed an order for pick up recently then another order on Postmates the next day because we really liked it lol. I've been to the spaghetti factory a few times to eat and never really remember me being too fond of it but recently we got the chicken Parmesan with spaghetti and marinara sauce and it was so bomb!! I love how tangy their sauce was and not sweet- I hate sweet red sauce. They also serve big loafs of bread with your order that come warm and are delicious. Each order comes with either soup or salad- didn't care for either. Salad was super bland and soup was super gross (minestrone). Lastly, each meal comes with either a small vanilla or spumoni ice cream. Their takeout service was not the greatest. They said come in 20 mins I gave them 30 and nothing was ready. Let me start by saying Robbie is the best thing about The Spaghetti Factory. The "Minestrone" soup is more like cabbage soup. Cabbage must be cheaper than pasta because there is no pasta in this soup. I don't know what it is about Spaghetti Factory but I allllllways leave and instantly regret my decision. I come here essentially once a year for a tradition with friends during Xmas time. We eat dinner and then walk to see the Festival if Lights down the road. That being said, it can often be very busy, so know that ahead of time! On this visit we were originally sat at a table in the bar area, the bartender actually initially seemed to be our sever, which was unfortunate because once we asked for a few minutes to look over the drinks and menu, she never came back as she was -shocker- busy at the bar! Finally after about 10mins it seems they gave our area a regular waitress as other guests were now being sat there as well. She was great, we ordered for 4 adults and 2 kids plus appetizers and she took our order by memory, which made us nervous, but she nailed it! She was also very attentive. A Tuesday night; around 6pm. Not sure what the smell was as we entered. Perhaps the smell of "Old"? We were seated immediately. Our waitress and waitress in training took our order. We ordered the chicken piccata and chicken Parmesan and two ginger ales. Soup, salad and crusty bread & butter came quickly. Sis said that her salad was good. My soup looked very good and hearty. I only ate a little because I can't have the beans at this time. I would like to have had meat balls or sausage in the soup. Our entrées arrived pretty quickly. And Sis killed her whole plate. She loved it. I made chicken piccata last week. I love this dish! I was expecting 1 or 2 thinly pounded fillets of chicken breast, swimming in a lemony sauce with capers. I got a thic, moist flavorful small serving of meat with a side of dry flavorful angel hair pasta with cheese that did not melt into the pasta. Our spumoni and vanilla ice cream came. I think that they pre-scoop and freeze the desserts. Mine had almost like an ice crust over the scoop. Like a wet ice cream scoop was used and then the scoop of ice cream was frozen with the water from the scoop still on the ice cream. After dinner we walked over to the bar. No waiting. We ordered a Kentucky mule and a strawberry daiquiri. Delicious. We attended an event in their banquet hall. It was too dark in there for that event. Went there today to support a friends celebration of life service. The venue was nice, as to be expected, for The Old Spaghetti Factory. The food was delicious. The service was just "adequate." Nobody was left wanting, but nobody was impressed either. I may go again, may not, not sure. I wouldn't, however, take a large party because I'm not convinced that they really know how to handle a large party. Food and atmosphere, 4-5 stars, everything else... 3 stars max. read more

Cannot beat The Old Spaghetti Factory for an awesome meal. Every. Single. Time. I just love my favorite dish - the Potpourri meal which encompasses (4) of your favroites: spaghetti w/ clam sauce (YUM), spaghetti with meat sauce another spaghetti with marinara sauce, and the ultimate spaghetti with Mizithra cheese. If you love more than one dish this is the best way to sample them all (you can also just choose 2 and get larger portions for the same price). This was my first time at the Riverside location and the building is indeed both historic and beautiful. It was orginally a fruit packing house/factory and it's fun to look around and spot some of that history. Just want to add that for $17 or $18 you ALSO get a side dinner salad which is truly one of my favorite salads. It's also served nice and cold and crunchy and the bleu cheese dressing is delicious. You ALSO get warm bread and butter and the you get to top the whole meal off with spumoni or vanilla ice ceram. Seriously. Such a great experience here today! I've been to many an OSF, it's decent Italian food and it's a good reliable flavor and quality, but what made this experience SO phenomenal was our server, Robbie. He was so welcoming, so attentive, and absolutely made our day. We had just come over from waiting over an hour at another restaurant we were told would be "a few minutes", where we were obviously completely forgotten... my dad and I were scouting for a rehearsal dinner venue and at that point, we were starving, discouraged and sad. The wait wasnt too long on a Saturday night around 7pm (20min wait). Once seated service was slow to start but picked up by the end. We enjoyed the food and the prices were reasonable. I dont particularly care for their bread (sourdough?) but my daughter loved it. Our server put a few more cherries in my daughters shirley temple so she was in heaven. Had the shrimp scampi appetizer which was really good. Chicken parm and chicken piccata was good too. Honestly, we only came here for the spumoni...and it was exactly how I remembered it when i was a kid... choc, cherry, pistachio ice cream... yum! (Who gets vanilla?!?!) The main reason I'm giving a five star review is because of our server, Jonathan. Everytime he's been our server we have had the best experience here. He's super friendly, quick, knowledgeable and truly cares about the type of service he provides. We've noticed the very few times we've gone and Jonathan wasn't working, that other servers just don't provide the same quick quality service. That's why we always ask for Jonathan when we go to the old spaghetti factory on Mission. As for the food, my fiancé would recommend the meat sauce hands down. As for myself every dish I've tried so far has been delicious. The pesto dressing on the salad is really good and I have to stop eating it Everytime because I end up feeling full off of just the salad and bread before our actual meal is brought out. The ambiance is relaxing and not too loud at times. Of course it does get loud when it's really packed with people. It's a great place for a date or for large groups. My fiancé and I always look forward to coming here on our date nights and will continue to do so as often as we can. read more

Well...ive been here, i think 3/4 times. Never written a review. I dont think its as bad as many of the reviews make it out to be...my take...This location is in an old railroad building. I think a big part of the smell is old lumber treated with tar like you frequently found around railroad type buildings. Things i like: the background music is at very low background music levels...this allows you to talk with your peeps, without yelling. The decor inside looks like 1890 all old train stuff. I dig it, if you dont, theres no reason to come there. All the waitstaff were great, the waiter was attentive, the girl up front quick and efficient, I like the kind of dark ambiance inside, its chill, and i like to chill. Its comfortable inside, for me...the ceilings are high, so the din of people speaking isnt loud. Which leads us to the food. Its not bad, but it definetly feels like a menu from 1980 to me. The food wasnt bad, but its not outstanding, but i dont know what it is about the food...but it gives me the impression that it was something to get excited about in 1980. The portions are large, and the prices were low for the quantity. I had a chicken panini and minestrone soup for lunch, and there was no way I was going to finish more than 1/2 the samitch. The stuff isnt bad, its a good value, but its not remarkable. I think the decor is supposed to look like 1890, and the menu looks like 1980, perhaps due to neglect, or perhaps its part of the charm. There are worse place to eat than this, I enjoy this place with a group because you can chat, and the food isnt offensive. I should note it was 103F outside today, but inside, I was very comfortable. Came in for lunch with my Hubby on a Thursday and was seated right away. The restaurant was not too busy but there was one waitress for a large area so the wait was alittle longer then it should be for someone to take our order and then bring us our drinks. Once we did order, our food it came out in a timely manner. The food was delicious, and better than expected. The price was quite reasonable considering each entree comes with bread, soup or salad and then a scoop of ice cream. I had the spumoni ice cream. Everything tasted great. Went for dinner on 10/27/2023 because i read they have gluten free pasta. I told my server I was allergic to gluten to which she appeared to go in a trance for a moment before handing me the gluten free menu, then left after taking our drink order. We didn't see her again for about 30 minutes. Grant it, they were very busy. I got up to go to the bathroom and when i came back, there was a large flaky piece of bread placed right in front of my seat at the table! You have got to be kidding me! Food Poisoning and Bug in food. I am writing this review at 2AM because I am not happy with what just took place. I ate my left over Spaghetti Factory pasta from the night before along with some cheese bread I ordered Togo. I just finished cleaning it off the floor in throw up form. I was feeling off and physically uncomfortable so I went to bed early. Here I am now in my bed after just cleaning up puke off my carpet because of the leftovers and cheese bread I ordered Togo. My brother in law warned me not to eat it because he had found a bug moving in his food that night and got his meal for free. I thought we'll maybe that was just his food because I didn't wake up sick from the meal I ate at the restaurant. But surely I was wrong and should have taken the warning. The bug was a small nat with antennas. I should've listened when I was warned. Need to call the health department to check their handling protocols. Health department needs to come check out this establishment because there is no reason I'm throwing up cheese bread at 1AM read more

I am going to do my best to remain unbiased in my review since my husband and I have an ongoing debate about the best spaghetti restaurant (and mine is FAR from being OSF). (Note: Feel free to direct message me and I'll give you my personal recommendation.) But the hubby LOVES this place and it is always a popular choice for birthday lunches and dinners within his family. There's a lot of perks and good things about the Old Spaghetti Factory and this location in general. They have a great selection, offer free complimentary french bread, and their locations are always beautifully decorated and ornate. This Riverside location is no exception and it makes for a great dining experience. However, I always find their food to be extremely bland and not worth the price point. Their portion sizes are not huge but you can always leave full because of the amount of carbs on each plate. My go-to order is always the chicken parmesan and I'm thrown off that the chicken isn't breaded. I do appreciate that dessert is included for most meals but I'd rather have more pasta than what they give before a minuscule scoop of vanilla ice cream or spumoni. This location has PLENTY of room for large parties and can accommodate groups of any size. They fill up very easily during peak dining times so reservations are heavily recommended. Parking is available in front or in a lot next door. We came here recently for a cousin's birthday lunch and they were able to accommodate 25+ of us in a semi-private room. While they originally only assigned one server for the entire group, it was nice to see additional employees step up to help out near the end. Will I be back? Probably, especially to keep the husband happy. But will I be excited about it? That's ańo-re! read more

I went to the bathroom & saw our party, it was a huge party in the big banquet room to the back, I was surprised the host did not know where our party was. We had to tell the host to instruct others for that "name" party to go to the large/banquet room in the back, still! we would still peek out & see people for our party at the front bc the hosts did not mention where we were, we asked (those waiting) if they asked the host for the "Name" party & they as well did (as we did), kind of odd. Super disappointed. Drove to San Marcos to get my mom sauce for mother's day.--she's finishing up cancer treatment and it's hard for her to do big outings. So I drove from Murrieta to San Marcos to get it. I called ahead so it would be ready when I got there. I asked for the sauce size and the girl said 16oz.. so I ordered accordingly (4 containers). I got home and discovered that they are only half way full.. so now 8 oz of sauce in 16 oz containers. Which would have been fine if they said it would only be getting 8 oz I would have ordered double. Now I'm home with half the amount of sauce I need to serve my mom her mother's day dinner. Plus, I spent 40 bucks in gas driving back and forth. I called that night (Sat before mother's day) to express my frustrations to the manager-- I understood it was a busy night and said she could call me back, which I was totally understanding. She said she would find a way to correct the issue. She never called me back. Now it's Wednesday-- 5 days later-- no word from her. We always enjoy dinner here. We've been going there for many years. This location appeared to take advantage of the Covid shutdown by completely refurbishing the place. It shined and looked very clean all over. We had 6 pm reservations, and we were seated almost upon arrival. The service was very good. Our server was friendly and did a great job of refilling drinks and replenishing the table with fresh, hot bread. The menu had added a few new items along with our standard favorites. Like most restaurants reopening after Covid, prices have gone up, quite a bit for pasta. We enjoy dining here, and we did this time also. It was nice to be back after a long absence. I just don't want them to price themselves out of the market with high prices. But good food, nice atmosphere and good service will keep us coming back. But maybe not quite as often. read more
