I was exploring downtown Livermore and came across the Olive Oil Pantry and decided to pop inside to take a peek. I was immediately drawn to a display with items made from olive wood. An associate saw me looking at the coasters and told me to hold them up to the light. Part of the coaster is made from a transparent composite and shines in the light. So cool! The spoons were very cool too. I bought both items for a couple of people on my Christmas list. Can't wait to come back on a another day to sample the olive oil. read more

Stopped in to browse after having this place bookmarked for so long! Tons of olive oils and balsamics that you can try (free tastings). I ended up taking home the chocolate/cherry balsamic, hickory balsamic and garlic mushroom olive oil. I also grabbed a couple jars of stuffed olives. I'm looking forward to using the hickory balsamic on salmon and the garlic mushroom olive oil in maybe a pasta! I really enjoyed the ambiance and shopping experience here. Although it's a bit of a way from my home in Atlanta (Lol.) The quality of the balsamic vinegars and the freshness of the olive oil here stood out, and the knowledgeable staff made the visit even better. I have never tried an olive oil tasting place & I am glad I did. I came with my cousin & she showed me the ropes on this place. One of the employees helped us try different flavors & even gave recommendations for some of the balsamic oil mixes to try. When you first walk in, you would think it's a boutique for oils, but you walk further in the back walls are adorned with canisters of olive oils on one side and balsamics on the other. Love this place! Since I moved here with my husband back in February, I have been wanting to check out more of Downtown Livermore. It just so happens that I have been wanting to get a good olive oil to dip bread in. So I went inside. The ladies that were there were so sweet and helpful. Sara told me all about the olive oils and the balsamic. I tried a few and decided on the Italian blend. It is delicious! I definitely want to come back and get other things. When my friend said we had to go out to Livermore to get olive oil, I admit to being a little hesitant. But wow!!! I loved our visit to this gem of a store. Arnie, the owner is fantastic and gave us a great tasting tour. This was the best olive oil and aged balsamic vinegar I have ever tried. I gladly bought some garlic olive oil and an apricot and basil blend to take home. Great for gifts and essential for cooking! I will HAVE to go back just to try more things. I was here on Saturday August 3rd. Came in 30 minutes to closing time. Yet I did not feel rushed. I am starting to use olive oil as part of my health routine. I had questions. The person in charge was very nice and very patient in answering my questions. I am so sorry I couldn't remember her name. She even brought out samples of mustards that my friend wanted to try out. She helped me try out different oils and also balsamic vinegars. They were all yummy! If you are in the Livermore area, give this place a try. Having now lived in California for four years, I'm learning olive oil stores are not unusual. And after visiting one in Niles and one in Half Moon Bay, I started to believe they were all carbon copies. I also know this isn't the case. There is an olive oil store in Ghirardelli Square that is unique. The Olive Oil Pantry in Livermore, while it looks more like the carbon copies, does seem like an original. We didn't spend a lot of time here, but we were thrilled to find this store. We were out of garlic olive oil, so it was time to buy more. Like all the other shops, one can taste the olive oils and the balsamic vinegars. The owners (I assume they were the owners), were very helpful. Still, we walked out with a large (larger than I've seen elsewhere) bottle of garlic olive oil and a candle. I can't resist a candle. The check out process was fantastic! This place wins the top tech award for check out. I slipped my card into the chip reader and viola! I didn't have to sign anything and, don't ask me how, a receipt was immediately sent to my email. Now I've been to places that ask, "Would you like a receipt?" and they then ask you to type your email address. This place somehow knows that my credit card company knows my email address, grabbed it during the check out process and sent me a receipt without any need to type my email address. Kinda freaky, but also completely convenient. I'll continue to go to any of the olive oil stores. It all depends on where I am when I run into one, but when I'm in Livermore I will definitely stop in. read more

I miss this place so much! I recently relocated to Phoenix and actually asked my friends to bring me several bottles of vinegar because I was depressed about my salad quality out here. This place makes literally just a handful of greens taste like liquid gold, I brag to everyone about how lucky Livermore is to have it. PLEASE do a subscription box I'd do monthly pairings! Also if you're just looking for a really fun activity, the brick and mortar location is so cute! You can try everything and pair it with whatever you'd like. It's incredibly fun to mix and match and experiment. The staff is super knowledgeable and really eager to help in a totally no pushy way. 2021 I'd actually gotten everyone their small pairing bottles as gifts at the office and they were a huge hit in our busy leasing office! read more

This place is great for gifts. Everyone I've ever bought the garlic oil/25 balsamic have been converted. It's great for dipping breads but also on salads. Last month I bought three gift sets. I also like that you can buy small travel size too. I like it for trying new flavors, but also because I like keeping them at my work desk having great dressing options to jazz up a boring salad is great! I also love just the plain kalamata olives. The Olive oil is always great from here. But some of the staff members in this specific location are VERY RUDE to new customers that aren't sure how it works. It has a functional layout. The decor is complementary to the product. But the way you get your olive oil is kind of confusing and this particular staff member was rude when asked. Needless to say I won't be returning to this specific location. The younger girls that were in there were very sweet. read more

What a lovely shop featuring olive oil, infused and plain, and balsamic vinegars. We spent 2 hours there tasting and trying to figure out which treasures to purchase and how to take these glass bottles back up Hawaii. Minor dilemma solved! They ship products in flat rate boxes via USPS for $10! Yes, $10 and I know what you're thinking. The oils and vinegars arrived home safely in bubble wrap before me! Love love the garlic olive oil. So much flavor that you don't have to add more garlic, unless you are a total garlic fiend! LOL read more

Our office received a gift of a selection of oils and balsamic vinegars and WOW!!! We had a tasting and wow was the word most used. The Kalamata olive oil was so fruity and fragrant and the garlic infused oil tasted so incredibly fresh and the garlic flavor was quite pronounced. The highlight was the balsamic vinegars. They were not as acidic as a typical balsamic, smooth, and a bit thick, more like a glaze. Raspberry balsamic was so fruity, it was almost akin to a jam and the 25 star dark was quite literally, the best balsamic anyone could remember tasting. The bottles are beautiful; these would make great gifts. read more

This was my first time in the store and I have been actually wanting to come in and check it out. My mom sent me over to grab some olives so this was my opportunity to go. I walk in and nobody acknowledges me and they all just continue about their business. This made me feel a little uncomfortable so I didn't really want to walk around and look so I grabbed the three olive jars that I needed and go to the register. I made eye contact with someone three different times but she never said anything to me. A gentleman walks in the door about a minute after me and is soon as he walks in the lady that I made eye contact with that didn't talk to me decided to talk to him. Thought that was a little odd. So I'm still standing at the register while she is talking to him and she sees me standing there and She still talks to him. Finally she told him let me go help her real quick. She doesn't say hi or anything very friendly then she says "is this all you are going to buy today?" And I'm thinking yes with that attitude and customer service I am not buying anything else. But I decided to be polite and I said yes. She rings me up, I pay and I am off on my way. This lady really needs to learn customer service. I feel that some people think I'm 15 years old because I look very young but I am about 20 years older than what they really think. Regardless of my age they should still treat everybody the same. I myself will definitely not be returning but my mom loves this place so if she needs anything I will go back for her knowing that the customer service is horrible I will not be expecting anything more. read more

I was not impressed. I went in on a Saturday afternoon to find a perfect olive oil for dipping and finishing. My first complaint is that the oil is given to you iin mini cups to sip. After the second one iI wasn't sure what I was tasting because I had a coating of oil in my mouth. If like me you want to dip bread or whatever your preference in order to taste the flavors, bring your own dipping items. Also I was only offered 3 different oils. When asked if there something I could try that was between the last two that had just a little less aftertaste, I was told these are my choices. The balsamic was easier to taste without a piece of bread but it still would have been nice to have it. I did purchase the last oil I tasted and a balsamic. Their website shows many different choices of oil which were never mentioned. I will look somewhere elsenext time. read more

The store is clean, inviting, and welcoming. The staff members are always helpful and eager to help you find the right oil, vinegar, or blend to take home. They should call themselves The Balsamic Vinegar Pantry. Not that their olive oils aren't terrific - they are! - but their balsamics are where it's at. Their dark and white star balsamic vinegars are absolutely delicious. We put it on so many things, particularly the white: green beans, mashed potatoes, really anything you can eat. The orange-passionfruit vinegar was spectacular as well. Plus they ship very fast, I ordered and got my order two days later. A+++! read more

Good news! I spoke with the owner (very nice man) and they are moving from the Las Positas location to 2053 First Street and will re-open on May 1st, 2015. I was bummed when they closed and was ready to travel to the Manteca store to continue getting the products to which I've become addicted, now I only have to make my current stash last until May. Their aged balsamic vinegar collection is awesome and there were 32 different flavors. You can sample everything. I'd only begun sampling the collection of 32 Olive Oils they before they had to close up and get ready for the move downtown. I'm a chili head and loved the habanero infused olive oil. It had a nice kick to it. Can't wait until they open again. Make sure you stop in to give it a try. You won't be sorry. They'll be in the old Cal Bicycle Shop downtown. They are dog friendly! I was inside the store while my husband was sitting on a sidewalk bench outside with our 2 dogs. The man (sorry, don't remember his name) helping me noticed them and invited them in! The dogs were leashed, well behaved, and stayed near the door, but how cool is that? I've been a regular visitor ever since the store opened. My go-to favorite is their 25 Star Balsamic vinegar. It is thick and sweet and tastes nothing like any other balsamic vinegar. Delicious, delicious olive oils and vinegars!! Found the best balsamic vinegar and table vinegar in the world. I could seriously just put them in a cup and drink them straight. The owner invited us on a culinary journey to which he promised that by the end of the tasting tour, my friend and I would become oil and vinegar snobs. Count us in! He introduced us to each one and let us taste as many as we wanted as many times as we liked. They infuse their own herbs in the herbed olive oils for six weeks, and the resulting flavor is so much better than others who simply add flavoring to their oils! The table vinegars are delicious. Tastes nothing like the table vinegar I'm familiar with "out there." The fruit-infused balsamic are also very, very tasty. A few of them taste like candy! During the tasting, the owner made us a few of his favorite oil and vinegar blends. Oh. My. Goodness. I died. I want to eat that coconut lime concoction on all my food. One thing I wish they provided were bread or crackers. I was feeling a little queasy on the olive oil after so many cups, and I needed a little something to chew on. I wonder if I'll get judged if I bring my own next time? Anyway, don't come on an empty stomach and you'll probably be better off than I was. But either way, you need to come. Seriously. Right now. We randomly stumbled upon this place today and it was such a gem!! Arnie, the owner, helped us today and was spectacular! He took us through an olive oil and balsamic tasting which I didn't even know existed. The quality of their products are fantastic and their prices are SO reasonable.
