    Lychee Martini
    Alexandra S.

On a slow Tuesday night, I was greeted promptly upon arrival and seated at a bar table. My bartender was attentive, quickly serving my lychee martini and water. I asked for recommendations on popular menu items and received excellent suggestions. My appetizer, the Spicy Tuna Crispy Rice, arrived promptly and was delicious. However, over 50 minutes passed and my entrée sushi roll still had not arrived. To make matters worse, other guests who ordered after me received their meals, requested condiments or water refills, and even had special revisions completed--while my roll never came. I spoke with the hostess to involve the manager. The manager apologized profusely but did not offer to comp any part of my bill. By the time any effort was made to prepare my roll, my appetite was gone, and the experience left a negative impression. Overall, while the staff was friendly and my appetizer was good, the extended delay and lack of proper resolution for my entrée made this visit disappointing.

The atmosphere is very nice. Spacious and very well designed. Thats where it all ends. The food has no flavor. The hibachi is SO bland. I mean everything from the shrimp to the chicken. No flavor whatsoever. I saw the cook add butter to the steak so that may have some but nothing else did. The rice was BLAND. The vegetable were overcooked and ate the portions are VERY SMALL. There are a thousand hibachi places in Atl. Find another one because this isn't it.

I met a friend here for dinner, and we really enjoyed our drinks and sushi. We might make this our new meeting spot since it's halfway between our homes. The service was attentive and helpful. The manager, we think that's who he was, also stopped by to check on our evening. It's got a great vibe. There are many places that you could bring me to, so if you wanna be away from the hibachi and have a quiet area, or you can be in the mix, The espresso martini was strong and too sweet. I started with the hot-and-sour soup. It was so good, and my friend started with a ginger salad. Our favorite roll was the one with multiple types of fish, rolled with cucumber. It was so fresh and delicious. It's a little hard to eat, but totally worth the effort. We also had a Sheldon room with spicy tuna, and it was square instead of the regular roll, and we really enjoyed that one, too. When we come back, we'll be tempted to order the same rolls, if we can figure out what they're called, but if not, there are so many other phenomenal options on the menu we'd be happy with.

Great ambience, good service and awesome food. It's right on powers ferry and conveniently located. Decent price and nice ambiance. I have tried the place for few times with my friends and we all liked it. Recently ordered Orange chicken and it was fabulous! Freshly made with tender and juicy chicken and real orange mix. A place to try sushi and all the Chinese dishes.

I came here with a friend and we enjoyed it! The ambiance was nice, the menu was huge, and our bar tenders were friendly (we sat at the bar outside.) I liked the miso soup but the tiger roll could have been better. It wasn't bad by any means but it didn't seem to have much flavor. I had the chocolate dome for dessert and that tasted amazing. The drink I ordered (I'm forgetting the name but I know "dragon" was in it) was pretty good. It seemed like the alcohol kept separating out because some of the sips had a bit of a bite to them when others didn't lol. The presentation was nice, it's very pretty. My friend ordered the Lychee drink and she liked it. I tried it as well and thought it tasted great. I might order it next time! My friend got a sushi roll (forgetting name) and the seafood fried rice. The portion for the fried rice was huge! She was happy with her meal. We were here on a Friday evening around 7:30-9:30ish and there was activity but it wasn't super busy. There was tons of parking available. I live nearby and have definitely seen it packed before. I'm assuming Saturday and Sunday evenings get busier, and if there is a Braves game it probably gets a bit crazy pre and post game. We had no wait tonight. We sat at the bar but I don't think we would've had to wait for a table inside either. Overall I'm giving a 4 because I really loved the vibes here :) I was a little disappointed in their tiger roll but my friend and I had a great evening at The Orient. I'd happily come again and try some of their other items.

Came for lunch, there was a short wait but still pretty fast service. I got the Bento box. Came with fried rice, miso soup, tempura, beef teriyaki, small salad and 4 pieces of California roll. The California roll but slim and not packed with much crab meat. The beef teriyaki was okay, a little dry in my opinion. The tempura was good tho, it was fried well and came with a nice dipping sauce. I also enjoyed the miso soup and salad. The fried rice was okay, a little salty but still pretty flavorful. This was a good deal since it came with so many items but quality could be improved.

So this year we channeled our inner Christmas Story characters and ventured out to The Orient for our Christmas Dinner. I had called ahead to see if they were open and if they may have a table and a very friendly woman told us "come on in, we're a huge restaurant and we'll find you a table!" Still... when we pulled up we were concerned about the sheer amount of cars in the parking lot and the large amount of people dwelling near the door. Worried for no reason, we were seated within 5 minutes and even had a view of the game on tv, which my bf was very happy about. We ordered the Mongolian Beef, Chicken Lettuce Wraps, and House Fried Rice. I'm a little (lot) picky about my chinese food having grown up near NYC with access to some of the best chinese in the country (arguably) but I'm so happy - I finally found a Chinese place in Atlanta that was actually GREAT! It's hard to say why, more flavor? better flavor? my kind of flavor? Don't know, don't care, I'll be going back to try to figure it out often. Oh, they also have hibachi and sushi - maybe someday I'll try it - but there's so many more Chinese dishes that I want to try first! Also, we saw several tables had the PU PU platter, which is not my jam - but looked fun for a big table. Enjoy!

Came to The Orient for a Saturday lunch. You have the option to sit on the restaurant or hibachi side. If you choose hibachi, the Chinese menu isn't available. The restaurant wasn't busy at all, we ended up sitting at our hibachi table alone. The service was quick. Our hibachi chef was really great and entertaining. I took a star away because the tap water didn't taste fresh and the food could've used just a tad more seasoning. The music and set up was really nice - they have a ton of windows that does really well with bringing the natural light in. I'd come back and try the other side of the restaurant.

Walked in with my husband for the first time on a weeknight for dinner. I will say parking was a bit difficult so be prepared to potentially look for a spot for a while. There was a very short wait, but we were able to get seated within a couple of minutes. Our server greeted us very quickly and got us started off with waters. He was very kind and attentive throughout the entire experience, which was greatly appreciated. For my starter, I got the wonton soup, followed by a volcano roll and the fried beef with peppers as my entrée. All of the food came out with rapid speed and was absolutely delicious! I particularly loved how fresh the sushi tasted and how unbelievably crispy beef was that they had in my main course. I think the portions are very fair for the price as well. We can't wait to come back!

This place is such a staple in our friend group. The food is always delicious and the cocktails on point. Today was a wind down day with my friends so we sat on the patio with some sangrias, Palomas & lychee martinis. We ordered a chicken fried rice and Jessica albacore roll (tuna is not my fav in sushi) and it was better than I expected. Our server was very attentive and charismatic - he kept us entertained all evening. The vibe is always inviting, clean and friendly. Everybody seems to go with the flow (and it's a nice flow) so it's not so rigid

As always excellent food. And quite possibly the best egg rolls in the area. Light and crispy!!! Great service and the music was perfect for the meal. Not too loud and great variety of genres. Just come by and if you have any wait (not that we ever have) there is a great koi pond that you can enjoy- and feed the fish.

It took about 5 minutes for a server to greet us. At this point I was able to ask for a physical menu. Nothing was explained about the menu or the drinks, this would have added to the overall experience. As for food, we ordered the Red Samurai Roll. This was my favorite out of everything we ordered. Very refreshing but thought the tomato was unnecessary. The spicy tuna and fresh tuna complemented each other nicely and the ponzu sauce added the right amount of sweetness that was not too powerful. Very flavorful. We ordered two other rolls, the hashtags roll and the shinobi roll. Both were more on the savory side compared to the Red Samurai roll. Personally not my favorite as the sauce on the hashtags rolls was too powerful, covering up the taste of the actual sushi and the Shinobi roll tasted strange with the seared filet mignon on top. I personally did not think this complimented each other well but this could be up to personal preference! After 3 rolls between 2 people, we still didn't really feel full so ordered the Kampachi Serrano, which was lacking a lot of flavor and the frozen ponzu sauce did not add anything to the dish. The picture online looks better than the actual dish. Lastly, we ordered the Salmon toro nigiri, salmon belly. The ambiance was very nice, low lighting, good date night spot. Twice they delivered the wrong dish to our table. I would try other sushi places in Atlanta before coming back here. For the prices, the service was not up to standard with explanations and speed. Also no refills on Diet Coke and the only options for parking are a $6 valet or self parking which is also $6. They do not validate. The Red Samurai roll was really good though and definitely the standout for me of this meal.

Law of supply and demand. But given the elevation in quality of life this establishment has provided me with across the years, I feel I owe them some good marketing through a review. If there was a sushi coefficient of freshness, quality, quantity, and cost, this place wins everyday. C= (Fr*Q*q*c) Fr: 9 Q: 8 q: 10 c: 10 C(Yokohama)= 7200 Don't get me wrong - the competition is fierce for delicious sushi (Fudo, MF sushi, Nobu, all the Omakase scenarios popping up in town). What this means is the cost (c) is way too high, giving it a low 1-5 in the equation. Also, quantity (q) is low, about 4-6. So, the resulting coefficient is very low overall. From my understanding, the fish here only comes from Japan, so it's good stuff - and they really load up the rolls (a lot of the time), and they have this deal on weekend for special rolls (25% off I think). So you do get the quality, quantity, and decent price (about $12-15 per specialty roll). The regular rolls are good too, and loaded with fish. E.g. spicy salmon/tuna. The Samurai Roll was substantial and I appreciate the generosity of the roll. It was topped with salmon, and usually when rolls are topped with fish, it's usually a pretty thin slice of fish, but these slices of salmon were quite thick in my opinion. The pieces of sushi themselves are also fairly thick - it was a big bite for me to eat each piece in one. I think the biggest detractor for the sushi here is the rice. It doesn't have a very fragrant flavor the way it does at other great sushi restaurants, and the grains themselves were a bit cold instead of being closer to body temperature. If the rice was better I'd probably rate this 5 stars, especially because of how good the service we received was. I will be back for happy hour again though!

Umi is now my go-to for sushi in the area, and it's not close. The fish is remarkably fresh, you…read morecan tell immediately from the texture and how clean everything tastes, no fishy aftertaste at all and not frozen (yes, you have to check and make sure you're not eating frozen fish). The rice is excellent as well. I've had the omakase and a la carte, and both were on point. Flavors are balanced and thoughtfully composed; nothing overworked or heavy-handed, just quality ingredients treated with respect. Service matched the food. Attentive without hovering, and the staff clearly knows the menu inside and out, happy to walk you through pairings or recommend based on what you're in the mood for. Between the quality of the fish, the execution in the kitchen, and the hospitality, this is easily a 5-star spot. Already planning my next visit.

I want to be fair here. It was my daughter's birthday and the restaurant was her choice so our…read morefamily of four showed up for our 8:15 reservation. Mom bought cupcakes for the celebration and we were informed by first, the hostess and then the manager that there was a $35 "Cake Cutting Fee". I would not have minded something of a fee but $35 was exorbitant so I took the cupcakes back to my car. This first impression left me with a bad taste. Dinner went well enough. I'm not a sushi person but I did have the Chicken Teriyaki. It was ok but nothing extraordinary. I've had better for less. The rest of my family (who love sushi) basically had the same impression about the sushi. our waiter was pleasant and tried really hard after I told him that our evening had started off badly with the manager. My personal highlight was the post dinner coffee which was brewed table side and of very good quality. One other policy that felt really pretentious in my opinion is that the restaurant has a policy of not allowing customers to take home food that might be left over from your meal. The menu states "Keep In Mind When Ordering"! If I've never been to your restaurant, I may not be aware of your portion sizes or any other number of factors that might not allow me to finish my meal including emergencies! Bottom Line, Average Food, Beautiful Building, Pretentious Policies. We won't return!!!
