The service at the restaurant was great and the energy was very light and casual. The food was also really good and came out fairly quick. We went here on 10/06/2022. 3 of us; Stephanie ordered hash browns with sausage gravy and bacon, zack ordered scrambled eggs, hash browns and bacon, i ordered apple pancake. oddly both servings of hash browns were amazingly white except for the gravy on Stephanie's no crispy bits or crunch and barely warm. bacon was also luke warm, scrambled eggs undercooked. Apple pancake, smoking hot, it was the only meal of the 3 the was enjoyed. Mmmm Their signature apple pancake is really, really sweet so you know. I'm not a sweet breakfast fan. The dutch baby with fruit is my fav. This was my first time going to this restaurant, the service is fantabulous, the pancakes are absolutely delicious, and the ambiance is amazing. The woman's restroom is nice and there is a little plant on the sink, I love how private the stalls are, the gaps are small, and it has a nice quiet atmosphere. They have a lot of space especially when the patio is open but on the weekend the Yelp waitlist check-in is really handy to get you on the list so you don't have to wait long to be seated. I was on a bus trip with 39 other people when we descended on the OPH in Normal for breakfast (and yes, the tour leader did notify them the day before). Our single waitress (for about 15 minutes, then the manager was able to send out another one) did a MAGNIFICENT job of getting us all coffee'd up, distributing menus, and beginning the order-taking process, and we were served with only a short delay. My biscuits & gravy were delicious and the half-portion was so big I'm glad I didn't order the full size. Everyone else at the table spoke well of their breakfasts as well. My one complaint is that their coffee - which had to be fresh with the # of customers filling the place while we were there - was bitter and almost undrinkable. I would certainly eat there again because of the variety and the quality of the food, but next time I'll stick to orange juice. read more

Good breakfast here today. Service was phenomenal as our server was very friendly and courteous. My kids ordered pancakes and I ordered an omelet. The kids pancakes were served very quickly and my omelet was still taking a while. The server came over and apologized and said they were taking a bit longer with my omelet and brought me some fruit while I was waiting. In town visiting and we ordered curbside service from this awesome restaurant! Everything was delivered to our car piping hot. The ingredients are fresh and wonderful. The portions are generous and the price are reflective of the portion size. The omelets are huge and baked in the oven. The ingredients are super fresh, I had the vegetarian omelet and it was stuffed with fresh veggies. My sister had the ham, cheese omelet and added mushrooms to it. Sooo tasty! We shared a side of bacon and hashbrowns with onions. Super fresh and great! Since I love Dutch baby I ordered one of those for later with a side of strawberries and bananas. Absolutely delicious! They serve very generous portions of made-from-scratch breakfast items, and everything is high quality. I ordered the farmer's scramble, my husband wanted to try the apple pancake, but didn't think it'd be enough food so he ordered the sausage and eggs to go with. Our meals were fine. The service was great. Our coffee cups stayed filled. But what really put this place over the top is the apple pancake. The description on the menu does not do it justice. It's practically an apple cake. It was probably 8in in diameter, an inch and a half thick. Apples layered throughout but somehow still remaining light and fluffy. Carmelized sugar all the way through. It was amazing. We both ended up bringing home leftovers. The apple pancake is worth stopping for by itself. read more

Nice looking restaurant with a modern exterior. Luckily I looked online and saw a seniors menu. I like their omelettes but they are huge in size. I ordered a 2 egg omelette with ham and cheese. Really really wanted to like the Original Pancake House. I love all things breakfast related. In fact, I often have breakfast for dinner. I was super excited to have another breakfast option in town. Unfortunately my expectations were not met. The good: We were seated immediately when we arrived on a Saturday afternoon. I was expecting to have a small wait, but they took care of us right away. The restaurant is also super cute! I loved the decor throughout the restaurant. It seemed to be a modern diner vibe mixed with farmhouse design. Loved it. The booths also had USB outlets above on the wall which is such a nice addition for this college town. Also, our server was very friendly. The Bad: I was hoping to have a latte, however they do not serve anything other than plain coffee which I found odd for a restaurant that specializes in breakfast. They also do not have any flavored creamers so I skipped the coffee and just got water. To order I had a Ham and Cheese Omelet which came with pancakes and my friend had the Eggs Benedict which came with Potato Cakes. He also had Orange juice. Honestly, the best tasting part was the orange juice. My Omelet came out super fluffy so I was optimistic, however it was very bland with almost no cheese. Once I got to the center, however, that's where I found literally all the cheese. Just mounds and mounds of cheese with no ham or eggs. See picture 2 for what I'm talking about. It was gross. The pancakes were also not good. They had a very odd aftertaste that I couldn't put my finger on. My friend did not like his Eggs Benedict, he found them very bland. He also did not like the potato cakes, however he had never had them before so it could just be his food preference, not necessarily anything wrong with them. The pricing was also much too expensive for the quality of food. For 2 meals, a water, and an orange juice, it was $29.00 not including tip. Was a waste of money. I doubt I will be back to this restaurant. There are so many other restaurants in town that provide a much tastier breakfast at a lower price. read more
