Breakfast croissant with crispy hash browns.

Still my number one place to go to for breakfast or brunch. We still need to try this place, The Pan, for dinner. The service is great. The ambience is terrific. They always have uplifting music of old style rock 'n' roll today I decided to try the Barbacoa plate, and my husband had the kielbasa scrambled.

Pretty cool place; it's best to call first and reserve seating because it gets really busy. We reserved and waited about 40 minutes. Everything was so very tasty. I had the quesadilla and it was nicely flavored with the beyond beef and it wasn't oily or greasy. It was a good experience. I'm glad I went. That was my first time at The Pan. Everyone else at the table enjoyed their meal and they added a huge jar of Horchata. Do not show up without calling that's the best way to ensure you're going to be seated.

Shrimp and grits, I betta neva hear anyone say anything bad bout this dish, devoured it!!

What can I say about this place other than YES PLEASE! It's always so good. The very friendly greeter (woman) said the wait was going to be about an hour but we honestly did not wait that long. I love how the waiting list is by phone so you don't have to wait inside, just near by. The food is fantastic! I had the kielbasa scramble with a tiramisu pancake. My husband had the shrimp and grits with a plain waffle. My tiramisu pancake was amazing! Sweet and delicious. My kielbasa scramble although very good it did not come close to being better than my husband's shrimp and grits, which we shared. The shrimp and grits are on a different level and they hit hard every time. The place is filled with people but we received a warm welcome and the waitress, Sam took good care of us. It can be a little loud inside but it's also cozy and the music playing throughout the restaurant was also a vibe. I love this place, I'll never get tired of it.

Fish N Chips with Yuca Fries

I was able to catch this place when it was not too busy, thankfully! By the time I left, it was almost full. I started off with a Mangonada which had plenty of chamoy and tajin. It had a decent amount of sweetness. I think the tajin balances out the flavor. Then, the clam chowder. I was sad to know that they no longer serve it in a bread bowl, but nonetheless, this was very good. It had a ton of clams, which I love!!! In most places, you're lucky to get 2 tiny clams in your bowl. Their clam chowder was delicious! On to the main course. I ordered the fish n chips. We had an option to substitute the fries and I chose the yuca fries. I like them, but I think regular fries is a better match for the fish. I also ordered the Mediterranean Omelet with egg whites. It comes with toast or an upgrade. GET THE UPGRADE!!! Their pancakes are so fluffy and delicious, you'll be disappointed if you went with toast instead of a pancake. Then finally, closed out my meal with a latte to-go. Latte is gooood! If you have the space, or just want something warm, I recommend the latte. In addition, our waitress, Clarissa was such a sweetheart and let us take our time to review the menu and ask questions. If you can, see if you can get a seat in her section. The restaurant is clean and the decor is so cute.

First pack your patience. Went on the weekend about 11:30am (this location open late) and party of 2 was 50-60 minute wait. Lobby is tiny and no place to wait but to stand outside or sit in car. Based on that, I still would give it 5 stars. Food was amazing and portions a good size. Had the traditional pan scramble and upgraded to lemon curd pancake (Yes do the upgrade). Every table had some sort of pancake so I say yes every time. Also, chicken and waffles. Chicken breast was boneless and had great seasoning and moist. Waffle came with blackberry butter and syrup/jam. So delicious. Looked at other tables orders and first time I'd say, everything looked delicious. Lastly, food came out pretty quick and service was amazing. *Didn't get photos because was starving.

The Lumberjack, one with regular buttermilk and one upgraded to banana pancakes

Solid brunch place in Gardena! I was recommended to go to this location because of the big parking lot and it was a very nice perk! I will say I came at 10 am on a Saturday and there was a bit of a wait. The food itself is good in the way that comfort food is good. No frills. Not that aesthetic. Does it have the best of anything I've ever had? Not at all. But it really hits the spot when you want a classic American breakfast and the ambience and good service is what makes it so great. We both got the Lumberjack ($20) but I upgraded my pancakes to a specialty pancake for an extra $2. The Lumberjack is a solid breakfast plate with house potatoes, 2 pieces of bacon, 2 pieces of sausage and your choice of 2 eggs with 2 pieces of pancake included. If you want all sausage/all bacon they can accommodate that as well with no extra charge. The house potatoes were a good texture even if it doesn't look like it. Not the biggest crunch but still had a crunch. Not mushy at all. I did enjoy the bell peppers mixed in! The bacon/sausage is nothing to write home about. Salty, greasy just like you would expect. The pancakes were soft and fluffy. I did enjoy the extra nuts and bananas in mine but the regular ones were good too! Syrup is in a bottle on the condiments basket. The syrup itself is very mid, very whatever, but I do believe they have maple syrup on the menu for an extra charge. Our server Rudy was incredible. He's super friendly and kept checking up on us, asking if we wanted refills of coffee. He would bring us extra napkins and coffee creamer too. He also took our photos for us! Much appreciated!! Sometimes you go to places and it feels like you're a nuisance or that they can't wait to turnover your table, but this place is super friendly and welcoming. We were there for a little over an hour and it made for a great catch up experience. Other tables were chatting as well. None of that fast food, get in, get out culture here. I can see why it's such a popular brunch place!

Ambiance: it's one of the most popular breakfast and lunch chains in South Bay Area, there's usually a waiting line outside and packed inside Service: very friendly and super patient with questions, provided useful suggestions, and refilled water adequately Food & Drink: numerous items for breakfast and lunch items, and they also serve dinner at this location Short Rib Benedict - **** two corn cakes topped with short rib braised barbacoa over mexican street creamed corn, poached eggs, and poblano cream sauce, tasty beef and unique flavors, recommend The Meat Lover Omelet - ***** bacon, sausage, kielbasa, ham, garlic, jack and cheddar cheeses tucked inside three eggs, served with house potatoes, simple ingredients and rich in flavors, highly recommend Tiramisu Pancake - *** coffee flavored pancakes, topped with a sweet vanilla mascarpone, chocolate shaving, cocoa powder, sweet espresso syrup, and whipped cream, tasted unlike tiramisu, still a good chocolate pancake Drip Coffee - **** freshly brewed and bold taste, recommend Price: generous portions and affordable prices, expect $30 per person for a very fulfilling meal

Came last night around 6:45pm. Got the loaded hashbrowns, strawberry pancakes, & cast iron burger Everything tasted good, our server was nice & she checked up on us. The food was fresh & we enjoyed it This spot is like a fancy diner that offers breakfast all day, lunch, & has a dinner menu. They also have some happy hour options from 3-7pm

Banana Pudding with a sprig of rosemary!
    MalloyNregina A.

Revisiting my review Because our server RUDY is amazing. Very tentative from start to finish. Took to heart his food recommendations and enjoyed the banana pudding dessert he also suggested adding a sprig of rosemary on top was going the extra mile. The vibe is positive dining here today.

    Pastrami egg sandwich
    Malinee S.

I went to The Pan for Sunday brunch and ordered the pastrami egg sandwich--it was perfect. So tasty and cooked just right. The place itself has a lot of charm and a cozy, welcoming vibe that makes brunch feel special. It was pretty busy when we arrived, with about a 20-minute wait, which is understandable for a popular Sunday brunch spot. Parking was limited, so plan accordingly. Overall, definitely worth the wait for great food and a lovely atmosphere.

no apology and telling me straight up refund. So arrogant bec they knew that they have a lot of customers

I'm almost always disappointed in restaurant coffee but these guys had some premium brew going. And they kept the pot circulating around. Originally we were headed to another breakfast place but the lively atmosphere, open to the breeze walls and vaulted ceilings of this place drew us in. The Downtown El Segundo Breakfast scene is actually kind of amazing in general, with lots of options everywhere and easy parking options throughout. Highly recommended morning excursion.

The last time we were here, it was during a busy lunch and both the service and the food were below par. But tonight, it wasn't as busy and our server, Geovani, was excellent. First, we were quickly greeted and asked to select our table (since they were not that busy). Since there was only two of us, we picked a table for two. But, after we decided that we would split an appetizer and an entree, the table for two became way to small way too quickly. Geovani jumped right on this, suggesting we move to a larger table. He helped us move everything over and, voila, we were able to stretch out and relax and enjoy our meal. We started with the pear and blue cheese salad and, wow, we could have just ordered this, split it, and we would have been full. Very flavorful, generous portion that is definitely big enough to share. We also ordered the Sausage & Leek Fettuccine and I was definitely not thinking. Totally forgetting that leeks are part of the onion family (and I have a sensativity to onions). Once the dish arrive, I immediately noticed the similarity and was slowly trying to pick them away from my portion. Once again, Geovani came to our rescue. He asked how everything was and I told him I made a mistake (noted above). He quickly volunteered to have the kitchen make it again without the leeks. I asked, "Are you sure?", and he immediately said yes and removed the dish. Very shortly after, he returned with the "onion sterile" dish and it was wonderful. Both of us were so full you could have rolled us out the door. Good thing the parking garage is so close so we could just hop in our car and go home. Time to loosen the belt! ;) In a week where we have had some personal issues, it was so nice to be treated so well and received such a great tasting meal. Hope you get the time to stop in and I hope you get Giovani to answer all your questions and issues. Enjoy!!!

The day of the reservation, the host manager called to confirm that we wanted to share the news at dessert, and if there were any other accommodations we needed, which was very sweet. When we arrived at our table, they had a card signed by staff congratulating us, and it was a night to remember. Great food, great service, and the warm hand towels after my dad demolished the baby back ribs were the cherry on top! Our group also ordered the chilean sea bass, salmon, and bistro plate. 10/10. One of our final meals as a family of two was Valentine's Day 2026. It was our first time being seated indoors, and the ambiance was dim and romantic. The meatloaf special was fantastic! Fast forward to June 2026, and we brought our 3-month-old son to his first NIck's meal (unfortunately, he could not partake) and to celebrate my husband's first Father's Day. On this reservation, I put in a request for outdoor seating that gave us enough room to park our stroller and car seat, and they were able to accommodate that. They were also understanding when me and my husband were running a few minutes past our reservation time due to fhe baby, and we appreciated the flexibility. Noise level was moderate, but definitely quieter outside. If you get nothing else from this review, just remember this: ORDER THE WARM BUTTER CAKE. YOU WILL NEVER REGRET IT. Alright, it took me a second to gather my thoughts, but here it is…read more I came to Soul Food Shack with my expectations set squarely on the food. I was only in Cali for a short while, and this spot happened to be about 15 min down the street from where I was staying. Perfect location, and I was curious to see how Cali does soul food. From the first bite, it hit me Emotionally triggered as I was transported straight back to my childhood. It felt like I was sitting at the kitchen table in New Orleans, eating my nanny's candied yams, greens, macaroni, and fried chicken. The flavors had that deep, home-cooked love, that is not taken for granted or lost on me, so hats off to the cook! That kind of food doesn't just fill you up; it connects you,and to top it off, the drinks? Man, they serve that real deal kol-aid. The kind I used to drink as a kid. As I was eating, I started thinking about how food ties us to previous & future generations. It's wild how dishes once considered scraps i.e: greens, yams, cornbread, oxtails, are now sought out in restaurants just like this one. These meals are more than just food; they're stories of survival, resilience, and community. But I digress, I know y'all didn't come here for a history lesson in Black culture, so I'll leave it at that. Now, onto the standouts. The mac and cheese and yams? Easily the stars of the plate. I like my yams runny and solid, because I love mixing it with the cornbread. Sweet, savory, soft--that combo hits every time. The macaroni? Seasoned perfectly. Creamy, rich, and not bland like you sometimes get at other spots . That's rare, and I don't take it for granted. Overall, Soul Food Shack gave me more than just a good meal, it gave me a taste of home, miles away from where I grew up.
