Ok.. Let me start by telling you I drive 14 miles to eat at this restaurant. If that doesn't tell you something about this place, I don't know what will. I have eaten here at least eight times in the past three months. The portions are good, the prices are good, and the service is very good. I've eaten alone and I've invited family members to join me. Even though I treated my relatives to breakfast, they've returned a couple of times on their own because they enjoyed everything so much. At any time of the day, you can order breakfast or lunch (I haven't tried any of the lunch items yet). I've eaten the Loaded Hash Browns, the Country Benedict, the Cinnamon Roll Pancakes, The Lumberjack, and of course... drank a lot of coffee (they never let my cup get empty). I think they can sit about 50 customers, but you don't feel crammed-in. The music that they play is old school R&B (60s-early 80s) and it brings back good memories to talk about while eating. The servers are very accommodating and friendly. I met the owner, Josue, on my last visit. They removed my first review since I was descriptive with the guy employee that I encountered there. I visited on Sunday and the 4 employees had me standing there without acknowledging my presence. Then a customer came up and sat down in a booth. I asked the guy employee what was going on. He then gave me an attitude saying that they were on the waiting list. How would I know? This is the first OC location opened up earlier this year. It's a breakfast and lunch only restaurant which is closed every Tuesday and open 'til 4pm every other day. There are a lot of delicious sounding items, and they have a wide variety with burgers, sandwiches, tacos, burritos, fish & chips, linguine, pizza, many salads, a kids menu, mocktails, and specialty coffee. It was my first time eating here, so I wanted to try their pizza first. I went with the Pan Deluxe Deep Dish, but it's really just added crust around the pizza cooked in a higher pan. That is how it looked in the Yelp photos, so I knew what to expect. Just know it's not a true deep dish, but I am glad for that. The Havana Pizza looks amazing, especially the crust. I think I'll try that one next. The Cuban pork sandwich comes with a few Yucca fries, but only a few, so we added a side of zucchini fries to that meal. It was all good! I look forward to trying something new next time. Oh and they are giving a 20% off card to use on your next order, probably for a limited time during their first year. First most, I only leave reviews if it's really really good or a big mess and unfortunately for us it was the latter. It was Father's Day and this place had good reviews so we decided to give it a try. Upon getting there we noticed it was kinda busy not crazy busy, it was maybe a 10 minute wait according to the manager with the goatee. He was somewhat friendly I forgot to get his name but what surprised me the most was that he was the only waiter there and the people before us got seated pretty much right away so we'd assume us will take no longer than 10 min as he had mentioned, we waited over half an hour to get seated and the only reason we got seated was because we'd had been tired of waiting outside in the heat without anyone checking up with us. Our mistake was not to leave at that point since it was way over the 10 min wait by that time. So we decided to go in, only to see several empty tables which only pissed me off even more which meant we could've been sat down minutes ago but they obviously had forgotten about us. Here's the kicker, the couple who arrived just second before us were already wrapping up their meal, that's crazy to me, that means they arrived at the same time as us, got sat down right away, got their order taken right away and ate and finished all while we were forgotten about outside. At this point I was already over it, my second mistake here was not leaving at this point, we were so hungry that it wasn't worth it for us to leave at that point. You think that would be the worst right? Not even close. After being sat down the owner dude with the goatee didnt check up on us until maybe 15 minutes later. Only to ask for our drinks, now here's the craziest part of it all, a couple came after us, got seated right away, and they got their order before we did!!! Are you kidding me!!?!! Not only that but the owner dude with the goatee can be heard saying to them "I'm sorry it's on the house".... What the hell dude are you serious? At that point we were pissed we called the owner over and he nervously asked what had we ordered, I forgot to mention when he took our order he NEVER wrote any of it down so it made perfect sense when he came back to us after speaking with his cooks that they had ordered the wrong meal for us hahaha unbelievable what a joke this establishment is. This goatee guy who I'm pretty sure was the owner thought he was slick by not writing down our orders all by memory and it came back to bite him in the aaaa. I straight up told him to forget about our order and were outta here. He mockingly said the drinks we had ordered "we're on the house" which appears to be his signature phrase. This guy needs some management lessons and customer service skills. It's obviously family restaurant and he wants to save some bucks by only having him as the waiter but dude does not know how to run a business, he needs to hire waiters and stop trying to be cheap saving money. Sadly to say I never got to try the food but I'm glad I didn't, this dude ruined Father's Day for me, when he reads this he will know EXACTLY who I am because if he's a true manager he will acknowledge everything I said was true and happened because I have no reason to lie since I have nothing to gain. Sometimes customer service and the way you're treated is far more important than how the food taste like. It's a burger joint... it's a pizza parlor... it's a breakfast place...it's The Pan! Tucked away in a little triangle plaza where Tustin and Santa Ana merge by N Tustin Ave and 17th St, you can have breakfast and lunch all day in a cute little square diner. There is plenty of seating on a slower weekday, with metal chairs mixed in with chic and comfortable diner booths along the walls of the restaurant. The kitchen is hidden behind a stylish blonde wooden panel. The staff are friendly and happy to guide you through the epic adventure of a menu. The only minor note on service is that it's a little hard to get staff attention because of the wooden panel if they're behind the scenes so service can be slightly slower. With that said, food is prepared very quickly and nice and hot. For my first visit, I explored the breakfast side of the menu with my friend, and we ordered: Shrimp and Grits, Pitas Chilaquiles with Green Sauce and Soyrizo, Peach's Georgia Peach Corn Cakes, and a Horchata. Shrimp and Grits were velvety and creamy, with plump and perfectly cooked shrimp and andouille sausage. While not quite the heat of your typical Cajun faire, the red pepper and tomato cream sauce were bursting with sweet and acidic notes. A very nice dish if you're looking for hearty, comforting warmth on a cold day. The Pitas Chilaquiles held some texture with a generous serving of green salsa layered throughout the corn tortillas. A good classic executed well with bonus points for being vegetarian friendly (but you can add meat). The Peach's Georgia Peach Corn Cakes were a peachy delight. While the many variety of pancakes were enticing, the corn cakes called to us this visit. The corn cakes were soft, fluffy, and swimming in sweet peaches and cream. It's delicious and although on the sweeter side because of the peach juices, the corn cakes held its own. Like the child of a delicate corn bread and a pancake, this was a decadent treat and a great indication that the pancakes are likely solid here as well. Finally, the Horchata, made specially by our server, had a perfect balance of milky notes with a nice cinnamon rim. While I prefer mine slightly thicker and with more cinnamon, the sweet and creamy notes were well balanced. Bottom line - it tastes great! Overall, all of the food and drinks were solid, and we are enticed to try more food here. I'm looking forward to exploring the pizza and burger (lunch) side of the menu next time. And I have a special eye on Yoshi's Cheesesteak, which felt specially named after yours truly :). Also, pro tip, they offer an unlimited toast side for the bread lovers. I took one look at that menu and was already mentally scheduling a time to come back to try some of the other menu options. I'm a vegetarian, so I was pleased that they offer soyrizo for the chilaquiles. Highly recommend this dish. It was fresh and flavorful, topped with your choice of red or green sauce, fresh sour cream, and eggs cooked in your preferred way. The beans are also vegetarian (no lard). The manager came by to check on us, and throughout our time chilling and chatting there was always someone there to answer questions or bring us anything we need. Great service, without making us ladies feel rushed as we solved the many problems of the world as we caught up on our lives. Mixed feelings about this place. I really wanted to like it since it's so close by. My wife loved her hash, the potatoes were crispy and the dish was super flavorful. The banana pancakes were good, but didn't wow me. The personal pizza I got, the crust was undercooked and they told me that's just how their pizza is. After seeing that I couldn't stomach to eat more than a piece, they just decided to ignore my concern. A man a table over got the wrong eggs and the manager came over and apologized profusely and offered a correction. So I would come for breakfast but not the pizza. I've been going to other locations in LA county for years and have always had consistently good food, so I was so excited to see them open up an OC location closer to home. But it was very disappointing. This location is small and doesn't have the same vibe as others. It just doesn't feel as unique or special. Ordered my usual (barbacoa plate) and despite the menu stating it came with creamy rajas (the best part of the meal, IMO), none were on my plate. When I asked, they said they no longer offer them but didn't bother to update the menu. The barbacoa was not the same as I'm used to getting, different recipe and the meat was shredded finer, more like machaca. Big letdown. We also had the loaded hash browns and these also were not nearly as good as what we've had at other locations. Coffee was so-so and served in generic mugs, while cold drinks weren't served in mason jars like the other sites. So overall a big disappointment. Food and vibes not as good.
