We loved the Pantry and decided we would try Dos. What a disappointment. We were seated right away but waited 25 minutes for our server to acknowledge us. I was ready to leave but my husband overruled me. The service never improved! The food was good but didn't make up for poor impression I had of this place. I've been 3 times as it's near my house. Food mediocre to less every time. Fish tacos had little dry pieces of fish, taco salad - I had asked for plenty of greens but got a little shredded iceberg with skimpy toppings, burger was food lot beef just OK. I won't go there again. read more

Ordered the chicken fried steak. All good except for one major problem. The white country gravy is made with sausage, probably left over breakfast sausage, and the sausage taste overwhelms the whole taste of the plate. Left tasting sausage the rest of the day. I've picked up from here a few times this year and it is usually pretty satisfactory! Huevos rancheros are my go-to at any restaurant and I remember thinking these were quite good. However, the last time I ordered I got the Durango omelet which I've had before and love but this time the green chile was left off for no reason and it really detracted from the dish. Most importantly, I decided to try a side of the carne adovada and it was basically taco meat... ground beef with a ton of taco seasoning. It was blasphemous! That is NOT carne adovada. Otherwise I definitely recommend Pantry Dos especially for convenience on the southside. But for carne adovada I'll stick to Maria's or PCs. read more

After two completely different breakfast experiences I won't be returning to the Pantry Dos. The first time I went in I had an amazing server that was very attentive and I felt welcome and comfortable. The Durango omelet was decent albeit a bit expensive for the quality and I did try the coffee which was absolutely atrocious (unless you enjoy a hot cup of mud in the morning.) The waitress was kind and understanding and offered a great explanation along with solutions. I ended up ordering a latte which was well prepared. During this dining experience the entire staff was attentive, accommodating, and proactive. It was by far, one of the best meals I've enjoyed in SFe. I was so enamored with the quality of service and the idea of a really, really good breakfast experience that I decided to return a week later. This is where it all went down hill. Initially the staff started out with me being greeted and seated quickly. My drink order was taken quickly and I was immediately given a menu. After a few minutes, I decided on my breakfast and then waited briefly. While the restaurant did not seem to be as busy as the first experience I thought the pace was a little slower. Not bad though. When I received my food I was disappointed that my eggs were very over cooked, but despite the full staff, I couldn't seem to get anyone to stop by my table. After a few minutes, the waitperson arrived and quickly took the plate back.... and again... I waited. And waited... and waited. It seemed like a long time in a not-too-busy restaurant to cook two eggs and rather than my server hand delivering the meal, she handed it off to a host who was kind enough to drop off the same exact plate with new eggs on top. Although the food wasn't cold, I could tell that there was no effort to maintain the integrity of a freshly prepared breakfast - as if over cooking my meal was my fault. Whatever the case, there didn't seem to be much urgency to make it right the second time. A few minutes later, The waitress breezed by and asked if things were better before whisking away to check on another table. That was the last I saw of anyone until a manager dropped off the check. I asked him if they were understaffed and I was basically told that all of the conditions were right for good service.  I'm not sure what happened this time, although if I were the four top a few tables away, I would have been visited at least four times by the same server. After explaining to the manager that I was out of coffee, and almost out of water, along with my feelings about the service, he did invite me back. No. For a $20 breakfast I expect an experience like the first one, at least, the majority of the time. Overall, the food was good but for the price they're charging there's no excuse for serving over cooked eggs (especially at a place that became reputable because of their breakfast) and delivering bad service. I do have to add that the coffee here is an enigma- I don't understand why they insist on serving a bad cup of coffee if they consistently get complaints about it. I don't understand why they're so frugal with the toast either. The place is loud, which isn't terribly bad, but another head scratcher considering the advancement in restaurant design and architecture - admittedly, that may be intentional. There are too many options in SFe at half the price of the inconsistent experience that Dos offers. I'm sure they'll do well without my money and I won't be returning to this location. A note to the guy that's going to respond below: please don't offer me your canned response, I already got that from the manager. Trust me, you'll be fine without my money. read more

The avocado toast was flavorful. The bacon was thick. The coffee was hot. What more can you ask for! The burrito was full of egg, liked that they didn't stuff it with potatoes but put potatoes on the side. Both the red and green chilies were flavorful without being super spicy read more

Excellent Breakfast in a New, Bright Local Restaurant Appreciate the recent opening of The Pantry Dos, the second addition from its legendary parent, The Pantry. We enjoyed breakfast on Sunday in this spanking new restaurant near the Santa Fe Community College. My wife had the regular Chicken Fried Steak which came with a fried egg, wheat toast, home fries and the choice of white or brown gravy (she chose white and it was excellent, not over-peppered as happens all too often, unfortunately). I had the breakfast quesadilla which included potatoes, scrambled eggs, and bacon in a fresh tortilla. That plus coffee, tea, and tip came to $35. Service was prompt and friendly. An outdoor seating area will be a plus for warm days. The menu says ask about local draft beers and the manager advised they hope to have their beer/wine license sometime in November 2019 and desserts (saw a few in a small fridge at the entry). When we left around 9am on a Sunday, the place was quickly filling up. read more
