I stopped by for another happy hour visit and tried the pub burger this time, it was yummy! The bun to bread ratio was good and the fries were crispy. Of course, I got some wings as well. They're my favorite . I also tried a cocktail that had black pepper in it, but thankfully wasn't too peppery. An all around good time.
The location is settled in the middle of a nice little shopping/food area so we walked around beforehand. We were seated right away and not made to feel as though our stroller and kids were a huge annoyance. In fact, they offered us a sling right away and were prepared to store the stroller also. We arrived for happy hour which was AMAZING. It was half off almost half the menu! We tried the tator tots (had to based off photos), fried pickles, fried oysters, mussels in coconut broth, gem salad (bc at this point we felt disgusting), and pub burger. Didn't realize that came with blue cheese so our 4 year old gave it a hard pass. But they do have vanilla ice cream...so that saved us. There was also no up charge to split dishes in the kitchen which we appreciated as parents who were eating with kids on our laps. Everything was good- truly nothing bad to say. I had their non alcoholic gin drink which was crisp and herbal. Mussels, fried oysters, and tots were my favorite. The kids menu was one of the best I've seen, even though we didn't order off it. I would return any time.
Saturday night was packed & noise level was high. Tables are pretty much seated close to each other and parking can be challenging.. The food on the other hand, we kicked off with a dozen fresh oysters. They were delish! Really fresh! For the mains we had 2 orders of scallops, though its on the small side, it was well seasoned and very tasty but slightly small dish portions. Redfish was decent, slightly dry but overall okay. Shortrib - my son claimed it was delicious. I would believe a picky eater.
Back at the Pearl on the way home to NEO from Cincinnati - the Pearl stood tall with a great oyster shooter, devils on horseback, bacon and bourbon cocktail, and one of the best burgers anywhere... glad to see it's still going strong. Bar service was excellent and a lively brunch atmosphere made this an excellent stop over on our trip home... Until next time!
The Pearl is an excellent restaurant that is great for a date night, drinks and meals with friends or almost any other occasion! Their service is spot on and it's always a really good vibe! They have some of the best oysters in Columbus, so starting your meal with any of their oyster offerings is a must! All of their seafood dishes are delicious and they have one of my favorite happy hours in the Short North as well! Go give the Pearl at any of their locations a try!
A vibrant scene with friendly - though distracted and rushed service. Our appetizers were quite nice - particularly enjoyed the Alabama oysters, which were a first for me. The fish and chips were average. The skirt steak with kimchi rice sounded delicious - unfortunately, the steak was the roughest steak I've ever encountered ($51 for the dish). The rice was too vinegary and not as tasty. We eat a LOT of Korean dishes, and this missed the mark in every way. The presentation was nice but one almost chokes on the steak. Our server didn't ask whether we enjoyed our meal so there was no opportunity to convey why most of the dish was untouched. I'm not sure I would return here for a price point of $100 pp without alcohol.
Stopped here for brunch as my husband and I were on our way back to Cleveland. So glad we did! We were early enough to miss the Easter brunch crowd and were able to score a very last minute reservation via OT. The hostesses were friendly (one was also from the Greater Cleveland area!) and sat us right away. Our server was the best (I kept my digital receipt thinking it had his name on it but just realized that it doesn't...womp). Anyway, we were at a bar table, which made for good people watching. It is deceptively large too. I got to see the rest of the restaurant when using the bathroom. We ordered an espresso martini and Manhatten to start. Devils on Horseback, N'awlins Baked Oysters, and Peel and Eat shrimp as appetizers. Husband got the Great Lakes Fish and Chips and I got the Shrimp & Grits. Everything was sooooo good. Perfectly cooked and flavorful. We each got an Old Fashioned for a second round (my go-to) and that was equally delicious and made right. I ordered a pie jar for the road, which I believe was peaches and cream. Not super cute in the box but also very tasty after being on the road. Would absolutely come back on my next visit to the area!
Love love the Pearl! There is lots to choose from on the menu, especially for seafood lovers. You definitely need to check out the daily catch to see what fresh oysters are available. Be sure to order some tater tots, old-fashioned deviled eggs and jalapeño corn spoonbread to start. Staff is always friendly.
The lady I sat next to on the plane ride to Columbus told me this is her #1 favorite restaurant in the city. She lives here. So I had to check it out. I had the scallops. They were so good!! Joey at the bar was super cool too very helpful since I couldn't decide what to order. Will definitely be coming back!! Nice work guys
Without having reservations, we were directed to the oyster bar or the alcohol bar, each with the full menu available, and we chose the bar. We took the last two seats at the bar, but even with a couple of TVs on, it wasn't too loud. The bar stools are a bit high for short people, but we squeezed in! The bartender was friendly and helpful as we ordered the cider and stout, and gave us some menus. (Guinness was not available.) Our food was delivered quickly, hot and tasty. Hubby enjoyed the pub burger and fries while I had the Cuban with black bean stew. We were pressed for time so we took part of our meals with us.
I think this is the most consistent food of all the Cameron Mitchell restaurants. Nothing rocks your world, but it is always reliably very good. The location is perfect for views of Bridge Park and fun people watching. IMO, the atmosphere of the restaurant has a bit of an identity crisis that takes away from the overall experience. It looks great with beautiful views and dim lighting (date night vibe), and sounds not so great with loud, random music (college bar DJ vibe). All that said, we really enjoyed Restaurant Week dining here. Deviled eggs are the best in town, entrees were fantastic, and dessert.... Desserts are their specialty for sure. Sugar pie was like pecan pie, minus the pecans and not as ultra sweet as it sounds. The PB&J dessert was one of the best things I have ever eaten. Fresh strawberries with peanut butter mousse and crunchy peanut topping. I would go back just to have that again. Ps just realized this review posted to the wrong Pearl location. We went to Dublin. My bad.
My husband and I stopped by The Pearl for a date night a few weeks ago! We had a 6 PM reservation and arrived around 5:30 PM. We were told that we would have to wait for our reservation time (they were extremely busy - every seat in the restaurant was full). Also note - it is a tight fit once you are seated! We decided to sit at the bar and have some drinks while we waited. I had a margarita and my husband had an old fashioned. The ice cube in my husband's drink was pretty sweet (pic attached to this post). Once seated, we started with the garlic shrimp and oysters on the half shell. The oyster special was 3 for $15. The oysters were pretty good! The garlic shrimp stole the show though! The shrimp placed on the garlic bread and topped with the smoked tomatoes, parsley, and crispy shallots was super divine! The shrimp was cooked perfectly as well! For meals, my husband ordered the roasted chicken and I ordered the braised short rib (I kept going back and forth between this and the hanger steak as it is served with kimchi fried rice - one of my faves). My husband enjoyed his meal; however, I was not a fan of the braised short rib. The meat was overcooked (super tough) and fatty. I did enjoy the savory gravy, the horseradish mashed potatoes, and the tasty vegetables that were served with my dish though! Our server, Gary, was absolutely amazing! He definitely deserves huge props for his exceptional service (that I watched him portraying to everyone on our side of the restaurant)! Thank you, Gary!

the pearl is a great spot in the short north! their fish & chips are SO good along with the harbor salad. their tater tots are made in-house and are unlike any other tater tot you've had before! also you can ask for a scoop of ice cream to go with the pie. they also have the friendliest staff ever :) read more

This was our first experience eating out since restaurants reopened. We are moving out of state and wanted to visit one of our favorite restaurants once more before we left. This experience was similar to all of our prior experiences - spectacular! Our server, Andrew, was quick, efficient, and professional. We indulged in the HH menu with the Harbor salad (which they split for us), Chesapeake oysters, and the chicken wing confit. Everything was great! With regards to COVID, every one on the staff wore a mask and the tables were pretty spread out. There were hand sanitizer stations positioned throughout the restaurant. They used to provide the check in antique books, one of my favorite part of the dining experience here, which they aren't doing now (probably due to COVID). I will definitely miss this place once we move. read more
The Pearl is one of my favorite Cameron Mitchell restaurants and I don't even like seafood! Be prepared to wait awhile for a table, especially on Friday and Saturday nights, but if you're lucky like us, you can try to snag a seat at the oyster bar. The bar seats are probably my favorite in the house because you can watch the chefs at work! For appetizers we had the deviled eggs, the oysters and the devils on horseback. Normally I'm pretty picky, but the devils on horseback are amazing! They're bacon wrapped dates that are sweet and tangy and all around amazing. The appetizers are pretty small portion sizes though so I would skip unless you're here for happy hour prices. For dinner I went with the pub burger and tator tots. Put aside your normal expectations for tator tots though cause these go above and beyond. They're huge and they're filled more with mash potato consistency rather than the hash brown consistency you normally have. The burger itself was alright, it had a little too much charred flavor. My boyfriend got the fried chicken and the cinnamon bun that comes with it is the absolute best!! Unless you're lucky enough to get a meter, you might as well valet or walk here. Yelp 100 Challenge 2018: 72/100 Walking down High Street, this is one of the most popular restaurants. There are plenty of people hovering around the bar area at 7pm after Happy Hour, and more people constantly being lured in by their inviting signs out by the front entrance of the restaurant. I came in by myself and was told that the bar and the oyster bar are both self seating. I sat down by the oyster bar where I found an open spot and was quickly attended to. Don't be mistaken, the oyster bar doesn't mean there's a bartender or a oyster bar guy serving you. You're still served by a regular waiter/waitress. I ordered the tater tots as recommended by the other Yelp reviews, and the parmesan garlic clams. In my opinion, the clams were on the more expensive side but I was willing to give it a try based on how good the reviews were. The tater tots were amazing! They were bigger than bite size, but perfectly seasoned and fried. I liked that its more mushy on the inside than the other ones you have at other restaurants. However, I was a bit disappointed by the clams. They were overseasoned, making it hard to get the taste of the clams. The parmesan made it wayyyy too salty! Other than the clams, I really enjoyed my meal here! I was constantly checked up on and the ambiance was amazing! There are plenty of business meetings going on as well as dates so it's a good place to go for any occassions. The decor in the back of the restaurant was super cute too! I'd be down to give this restaurant another try, probably during Thursdays when they have $2 all oysters! read more

Love love love love The Pearl, cannot wait to go back! One of the best happy hour's hands down. Our waiter says he dreams of the wagyu burger-now I do too and can't wait to eat it again lol We started off with some Oysters, they've got new one's everyday but I think we got two different kinds and our waiter was kind enough to explain all of them to us! also ordered: Tater tots- just amazing like seriously no one else makes them this way cornbread casserole- I wanted to save half of it to take home, ate the whole thing on the spot lol wagyu burger (best happy hour deal) fried chicken and mac n cheese and the cinnamon roll lots of cocktails lol Amazing staff, good bar, nice interior, good location! 4 years later from my first review here. The food, atmosphere, and service are still outstanding. My favorite apps are the charbroiled oysters, jalapeño corn bread, and tater tots. I've tried many things on the menu, but my go to is the burger with the tots after a server recommended it over the short ribs. I had to try the short ribs on my last visit, and they hit the spot! My husband had the fish, and he enjoyed it as well! I can't wait to visit when I return to the area! read more
Great Atmosphere! Atmosphere and service was great! Food was ... OK. I had a wide assortment of dishes and wasn't really impressed with anything other than the kimchi fried rice (which was a side dish). For the price I expected to be blown away by anything I ordered off of the menu, especially with this being a part of the Cameron Mitchel brand. read more

Excellent ambience and service. The food was delicious! I'd highly recommend the jalapeño cord bread and the shredded pork breakfast dish with sunny side eggs. The pork was very flavorful and not fatty! To drink: The bloody Mary It comes at your preferred spice level. They prepare the mix in house and use different peppers for your desired level of spice! It is chunky with tomatoes and delicious!!!! It's served with a Miller High Life! Covid-19: They have plexi glass divisions and appropriate distancing measures in place. read more

Literally my first time going here and everything so delicious! We had a party of 5 and could just sit at the Oyster bar! For apps we got the deviled eggs, corn bread and the bacon retapped dates!! Seriously the dates were the best and so was the corn bread! I'm not a huge deviled eggs fan but their presentation was so cute. My boyfriend and I split the shrimp boil for $20 it came out with a little bit of everything - shrimp, sausage, potatoes and corn. The dessert was also phenomenal. Their PB&J dessert is a must!!! Definitely coming back to try more. read more

We stopped in here on a whim for Brunch on a Sunday morning around 11am. They were able to seat us at the oyster bar - which was actually a treat to watch them prepare and plate multiple apps and entrees. We ordered the tavern Benny, pork cheek hash, and friend PB&J. Everything was absolutely amazing. I would give anything to eat the PB&J again. Pork hash was my favorite of the two entrees. Highly recommend. read more

The Pearl is a beautifully designed restaurant with very friendly staff. Thursdays they have $3 oysters (raw or baked) so I took advantage of it! I'm starting to appreciate oysters more and I'm a novice when it comes to oysters- I wouldn't be able to tell you what I had but I was lucky to have the staff there guide me and help me reorder the ones I enjoyed :). Definitely order some oysters! The raw oysters were delicious and fresh, while the baked Parmesan clams and Nawlins oysters were a bit too cheesy for me but the lobster tail came with melted butter lit under a tea candle and was yummy. If I'm ever back in Columbus, I'm definitely hitting The Pearl on Thursdays for their special again and will try the homemade pie! read more

We started our indulgence with the Deviled eggs app. Which is an absolute must. Presentation is cute! Homage to farm raised eggs. Creamy with a kick. As close as it gets to my mothers Easter dish. As I skimmed the full menu I quickly realized I need to come back in my stretchy pants because this menu is full of home cookin' flavors like Fresh pies daily (made daily), Fried PB&j's, and of course Shrimp and grits! But if you want to stay on the lighter side of southern comfort you won't be disappointed with the fresh Oysters!! Different variety each week. I enjoyed 6 from Rhode Island and 6 from Connecticut! The Connecticut ones blew the others out of the water, so to speak. But both definitely hit that seafood spot! Our server Chris was very tentative and spoke loud enough so that we could clearly hear him. He was knowledgeable of the menu and wine list. Overall it was a more than pleasant experience. Southern charm meets city folk. From the mason jar water glass to the old but new Knick-knacks decor, this place provides light ambiance with the ability to hear the other people at your table for conversation! read more

Wow really great stuff tonight by the chefs. Steak, Loaded baked potato, and baked broccoli were on point. Brown sugar pie ala mode is amazing Old fashions are made strong as well. 20/10 would eat again in total my bill was $68. read more
We got lucky here! Came to The Pearl in time for their happy hour where menu items and cocktails were half off. Despite the great discount, the service was absolutely wonderful. I highly recommend the Pub burger as it's packed full of flavor and really is fresh ground. There's also some nice touches to this place from the nice decor to the bills being presented in an old book. Definitely check it out and go during happy hour if you can! read more

We came in during happy hour and on Thursday when the oysters are $2 each all night! The N'awlins style baked oysters were pretty authentic. We just had oysters in New Orleans about six months ago. These were delicious. We ordered the grilled cheese sandwich and roasted half chicken and shared them. Both were tasty! We will definitely be back at some point. Probably on a Thursday. Those oysters hit the spot! read more

If you're in Columbus and sick of getting ripped off by empty steak houses, then come get your Pearl on. The food is great here Happy hour 'til 6. I enjoyed a New York Whiskey sour or 2. Also had Oysters on the half price and Clam chowder for happy hour. My entree was custom. I asked for blue lump crab with kimchi. All of this was a perfect idea. Hurry read more

Ended up here on Oyster Night ($2/piece). We shared both Pacific and Atlantic versions, as well as fried - served in the shell with a flavorful cajun rémoulade, and baked "Nawlin's" style. Entree's: - Short Rib Kielbasa, with Poblano Peppers, Gouda Cheese Grits (pictured) -Southern Fried Chicken, Cinnamon Sticky Bun, and Green Bean Casserole. Service and drinks were top notch, this is one of my favorite restaurants in the city, highly recommended! read more
First time at The Pearl with someone who has been there many times. The food was great, I had the shrimp and grits and my date had the fried chicken. Both were classic dishes, the fried chicken seems like it was cornflake crusted and is served with a cinnamon roll. Shrimp and grits is $26 which I think is a bit pricey, since I've had similar dishes for less than $20. The atmosphere is great, the decor is themed nicely. We made a reservation and went on a Saturday evening (OSU football game that morning) and it was packed. It was a bit loud but nothing unbearable and the lighting is a bit dim. Overall if you like seafood or classic southern dishes and you have a few extra bucks, check it out! read more

Fun atmosphere, trendy, with great drinks! The wait staff is personable and make great recommendations. Food tastes awesome and you can't go wrong when picking from the menu. Definitely a place to take people who are out of town or come if visiting! read more
I'm a food snob, I hate to admit it but it comes from living in New York City so long. So on a recent business trip to the fine city of Columbus, I was quick to judge that we would find no really quality cuisine by my NYC standards. I was very very wrong and the Pearl was an excellent dinner spot. There's a very cool Ambience to the Pearl. I can't quite put my finger on it as the whole restaurant is a mix of old new, mid-west and coastal, chill and lively. In some ways it shouldn't work, but it totally does. The menu is impressive and delicious. It featured a number of fusion style dishes I was not expecting to see. I got the Hanger Steak, and aside from the meat being cooked perfectly, the sides and the Korean flavoring thrown in made it amazing. Also, the oyster variety is great and I really enjoyed the tater tots. Not what the usual, not what I was expecting and not at all disappointed, quite the contrary. Also, great and helpful service. Nothing else to say here, and definitely nothing bad. I'd recommend getting a reservation ahead of time as they get busy. And go enjoy yourself next time you're in Columbus! read more

I was there for a business dinner and even with drinks and all it was not bad at all. I think we averaged 60 per person but that was with aps, drinks, mains, and deserts!
