I stopped by for another happy hour visit and tried the pub burger this time, it was yummy! The bun to bread ratio was good and the fries were crispy. Of course, I got some wings as well. They're my favorite . I also tried a cocktail that had black pepper in it, but thankfully wasn't too peppery. An all around good time.
The location is settled in the middle of a nice little shopping/food area so we walked around beforehand. We were seated right away and not made to feel as though our stroller and kids were a huge annoyance. In fact, they offered us a sling right away and were prepared to store the stroller also. We arrived for happy hour which was AMAZING. It was half off almost half the menu! We tried the tator tots (had to based off photos), fried pickles, fried oysters, mussels in coconut broth, gem salad (bc at this point we felt disgusting), and pub burger. Didn't realize that came with blue cheese so our 4 year old gave it a hard pass. But they do have vanilla ice cream...so that saved us. There was also no up charge to split dishes in the kitchen which we appreciated as parents who were eating with kids on our laps. Everything was good- truly nothing bad to say. I had their non alcoholic gin drink which was crisp and herbal. Mussels, fried oysters, and tots were my favorite. The kids menu was one of the best I've seen, even though we didn't order off it. I would return any time.
Saturday night was packed & noise level was high. Tables are pretty much seated close to each other and parking can be challenging.. The food on the other hand, we kicked off with a dozen fresh oysters. They were delish! Really fresh! For the mains we had 2 orders of scallops, though its on the small side, it was well seasoned and very tasty but slightly small dish portions. Redfish was decent, slightly dry but overall okay. Shortrib - my son claimed it was delicious. I would believe a picky eater.
Back at the Pearl on the way home to NEO from Cincinnati - the Pearl stood tall with a great oyster shooter, devils on horseback, bacon and bourbon cocktail, and one of the best burgers anywhere... glad to see it's still going strong. Bar service was excellent and a lively brunch atmosphere made this an excellent stop over on our trip home... Until next time!
The Pearl is an excellent restaurant that is great for a date night, drinks and meals with friends or almost any other occasion! Their service is spot on and it's always a really good vibe! They have some of the best oysters in Columbus, so starting your meal with any of their oyster offerings is a must! All of their seafood dishes are delicious and they have one of my favorite happy hours in the Short North as well! Go give the Pearl at any of their locations a try!
A vibrant scene with friendly - though distracted and rushed service. Our appetizers were quite nice - particularly enjoyed the Alabama oysters, which were a first for me. The fish and chips were average. The skirt steak with kimchi rice sounded delicious - unfortunately, the steak was the roughest steak I've ever encountered ($51 for the dish). The rice was too vinegary and not as tasty. We eat a LOT of Korean dishes, and this missed the mark in every way. The presentation was nice but one almost chokes on the steak. Our server didn't ask whether we enjoyed our meal so there was no opportunity to convey why most of the dish was untouched. I'm not sure I would return here for a price point of $100 pp without alcohol.
Stopped here for brunch as my husband and I were on our way back to Cleveland. So glad we did! We were early enough to miss the Easter brunch crowd and were able to score a very last minute reservation via OT. The hostesses were friendly (one was also from the Greater Cleveland area!) and sat us right away. Our server was the best (I kept my digital receipt thinking it had his name on it but just realized that it doesn't...womp). Anyway, we were at a bar table, which made for good people watching. It is deceptively large too. I got to see the rest of the restaurant when using the bathroom. We ordered an espresso martini and Manhatten to start. Devils on Horseback, N'awlins Baked Oysters, and Peel and Eat shrimp as appetizers. Husband got the Great Lakes Fish and Chips and I got the Shrimp & Grits. Everything was sooooo good. Perfectly cooked and flavorful. We each got an Old Fashioned for a second round (my go-to) and that was equally delicious and made right. I ordered a pie jar for the road, which I believe was peaches and cream. Not super cute in the box but also very tasty after being on the road. Would absolutely come back on my next visit to the area!
Love love the Pearl! There is lots to choose from on the menu, especially for seafood lovers. You definitely need to check out the daily catch to see what fresh oysters are available. Be sure to order some tater tots, old-fashioned deviled eggs and jalapeño corn spoonbread to start. Staff is always friendly.
The lady I sat next to on the plane ride to Columbus told me this is her #1 favorite restaurant in the city. She lives here. So I had to check it out. I had the scallops. They were so good!! Joey at the bar was super cool too very helpful since I couldn't decide what to order. Will definitely be coming back!! Nice work guys
Without having reservations, we were directed to the oyster bar or the alcohol bar, each with the full menu available, and we chose the bar. We took the last two seats at the bar, but even with a couple of TVs on, it wasn't too loud. The bar stools are a bit high for short people, but we squeezed in! The bartender was friendly and helpful as we ordered the cider and stout, and gave us some menus. (Guinness was not available.) Our food was delivered quickly, hot and tasty. Hubby enjoyed the pub burger and fries while I had the Cuban with black bean stew. We were pressed for time so we took part of our meals with us.
I think this is the most consistent food of all the Cameron Mitchell restaurants. Nothing rocks your world, but it is always reliably very good. The location is perfect for views of Bridge Park and fun people watching. IMO, the atmosphere of the restaurant has a bit of an identity crisis that takes away from the overall experience. It looks great with beautiful views and dim lighting (date night vibe), and sounds not so great with loud, random music (college bar DJ vibe). All that said, we really enjoyed Restaurant Week dining here. Deviled eggs are the best in town, entrees were fantastic, and dessert.... Desserts are their specialty for sure. Sugar pie was like pecan pie, minus the pecans and not as ultra sweet as it sounds. The PB&J dessert was one of the best things I have ever eaten. Fresh strawberries with peanut butter mousse and crunchy peanut topping. I would go back just to have that again. Ps just realized this review posted to the wrong Pearl location. We went to Dublin. My bad.
My husband and I stopped by The Pearl for a date night a few weeks ago! We had a 6 PM reservation and arrived around 5:30 PM. We were told that we would have to wait for our reservation time (they were extremely busy - every seat in the restaurant was full). Also note - it is a tight fit once you are seated! We decided to sit at the bar and have some drinks while we waited. I had a margarita and my husband had an old fashioned. The ice cube in my husband's drink was pretty sweet (pic attached to this post). Once seated, we started with the garlic shrimp and oysters on the half shell. The oyster special was 3 for $15. The oysters were pretty good! The garlic shrimp stole the show though! The shrimp placed on the garlic bread and topped with the smoked tomatoes, parsley, and crispy shallots was super divine! The shrimp was cooked perfectly as well! For meals, my husband ordered the roasted chicken and I ordered the braised short rib (I kept going back and forth between this and the hanger steak as it is served with kimchi fried rice - one of my faves). My husband enjoyed his meal; however, I was not a fan of the braised short rib. The meat was overcooked (super tough) and fatty. I did enjoy the savory gravy, the horseradish mashed potatoes, and the tasty vegetables that were served with my dish though! Our server, Gary, was absolutely amazing! He definitely deserves huge props for his exceptional service (that I watched him portraying to everyone on our side of the restaurant)! Thank you, Gary!

I love Cameron Mitchell restaurants! They never disappoint! I was ecstatic to try this place since one of my friends absolutely loves it! We got here around 6:30 on a Monday and happy hour had already ended. It was busy for being so early in the week; not even Friday yet! There were mostly older adults in here. It's a pricey place for young adults. Looking at the menu board, I had to try the derby pie and oysters!! We ordered the New Orleans style oysters which were fried and seasoned. So yum! We also got ourselves some drinks. I had the Moscow mule, which was refreshing! They served it in a copper cup. My friend got the rose punch which had real strawberries in it. It was good! My other friend got Ace pear cider. It was light and good as well. We shared the jalapeño cornbread which came with honey and butter. Wow! Fantastic! I ordered the house smoked salmon from the shareables because I wanted some room for derby pie. It came with brioche and a deviled egg. My friends got the Cuban sandwich which came with a black bean stew and grilled cheese with Brie, pear jam, squash, and arugula pesto. I liked the grilled cheese! It was unique! The Cuban sandwich didn't taste like the traditional type but they still did a great job creating their own version. The derby pie is definitely nothing like the original Kentucky derby pie. The chocolate is a sauce and not in the pie itself. It's a thick pie that didn't have the nutty flavor I was expecting either. Still, it was creative and they did a fantastic job! Our server was super smiley and energized. She must love her job as she was having lots of fun serving and entertaining other tables as well. The menu is a bit pricey but it is so worth it! There's a lot I'd like to try next time. They've got gender neutral bathrooms which was great! I will add that it's a very intimate atmosphere. The lights are dim and it really sets the mood. Disappointed! The place is very charming with a great upbeat atmosphere. Service was also very friendly but I didn't like the food. My fried chicken had so much cinnamon mixed with the breadcrumbs that was nauseating. The fish and chips were just ok because the fish was quite hard when biting into it. The only thing we did enjoy was the potato tots which was our appetizer. I can definitely see myself coming back for happy hour with friends but definitely not going for the food! read more
My boyfriend was in town and picked this great seafood spot. We were sat right away and put our appetizer order in: fried pickles and house smoked salmon. After hearing our server's suggestions, we added the fish and chips and Nawlins baked oysters. The food arrived in a timely manner. We were still working on the appetizers when the rest of our order arrived. The pot o pickles were big chunks of battered goodness. The dill ranch was the perfect creamy accompaniment. The smoked salmon had a maple-y sweet flavor and flaked up nicely. The baked oysters were out of this world. We toyed with the idea of putting another order in, but by the time we finished everything we were completely stuffed. I'm glad it came with a side of bread because we used it to sop up all that amazing broth. The fish and chips came in a hefty portion. It was perfect to split. The batter was crispy and the fish was flaky and delicious. The chips were perfectly done. Our server made his suggestion for dessert- the brown sugar pie. He had not steered us wrong, so we blindly accepted. He described it as pecan pie without the pecans, which was the perfect description. It even had that caramel-y layer that pecan pie has. It was totally necessary to round out the meal. It reminded us of something we would get in San Francisco. read more

The ambiance within this place is classy and rustic, and the perfect place for happy hour and dinner. Their happy hour menu makes this place perfectly affordable considering how filling and good the food is. The oysters are one of their mainstays which were extremely tasteful as an appetizer. I got the burger, which was very tender and cooked medium rare. Other people at the table got the fish and chips, and the grilled cheese. When I tried the fish it was crispy on the outside and moist on the inside. Would come back again! read more

Fancy comfort food with delectable cocktails. This is my kind of joint! Stop the presses, y'all. They have gluten-free fish & chips!! Super crispy strips of white fish. The aioli was so yummy. The menu is marked for gluten-free and vegetarian options. There was lots of dairy free and allergy friendly choices. They have a great happy hour that is served at table service. So my friend and I came here for Happy hour on a Friday at 4pm and all reservations for tables were taken until 9:30pm so we sat at bar and had the best service ever from Jess she was outstanding from helping us decide on the best food/beverage choices and beyond hospitable. The happy hour prices on select food 1/2 off as well as many options for drinks. We had the most amazing NE clam chowder that I ever had and the burgers were amazing I highly recommend the tater tots that are mashed potatoes filled squares with crispy outside. I just can't mention how many times that Jess went above and beyond to accommodate our needs ... the food was amazing and selection was amazing best of all then pricing was tops! I was in town for a conference and came in with a good friend. Of course we had a great time visiting and catching up, but the food was what made this visit an outstanding dinner experience. We ordered the Devils on Horseback to start and it definitely did not disappoint. The sweetness of the date and the saltiness of the bacon wrapped around it worked beautifully in tandem. It was the perfect way to start our meal. For the main course, I ordered the hanger steak based on the recommendation I was given, and it was delicious. The steak was cooked perfectly, the kimchi fried rice had great umami flavor (though the kimchi was a little too tangy for my taste - I don't mind the tanginess of kimchi but this was almost borderline too vinegary), and the mushroom and the sauce rounded out this dish beautifully. There were other main dishes that I wanted to try and I will definitely be back again if/when given the opportunity!!! read more

On our visit to Columbus from Pittsburgh, our first stop Friday night was here in the Short North area of town. The place was packed. We had reservations, but our table was cramped in the bar area. It wasn't ideal for fitting everyone & our food + drinks, but overall ambiance, service, incredible cocktails, & delicious food more than compensated. For cocktails, I started with the Nightshade, a tasty strong, sweet rum/tiki drink. As we were wrapping up I tried the Gin Thyme. Gin isn't my go-to spirit but I'm learning to try it in certain cocktails and this one was really nicely balanced & quite enjoyable. (Swipe for cocktail menu) For food we had a lot of starters (octopus, raw & grilled oysters, smoked salmon) & they were all wonderful, but the Old Fashioned Deviled Eggs had to be my fave. The presentation was too cute!! After all the apps (sorry, so hard to get pics with the lighting & lack of table space), I didn't get a main but Jason had the Short Rib & it was phenomenal. I'm not generally a big beef fan but this was melt in your mouth perfection. Would recommend checking this place out if you make a trip to Columbus! read more

Love this place! Great atmosphere and fantastic service. Our server was super friendly. The cornbread is a must order. I loved the grilled cheese and thought it was very elevated. The burger was average but the cheese really made it. The drink was amazing as well. Definitely add this one to the list. As a vegetarian I felt there wasn't a ton of options but could definitely eat the grilled cheese every time. read more

Looking for something unique (which is most everything in the Short North!) and decided upon The Pearl. Great choice! We enjoyed craft beers, raw oysters, shrimp & grits, harbor salad. The service was impeccable and the atmosphere charming. read more
Always a great dining experience at The Pearl. I wished I reviewed this restaurant on earlier visits but no time better than this visit. Public parking within a short walk away making this a super easy to access restaurant in Short North. Made a reservation on open table and was sat on time when we arrived. Hostess staff was very friendly but our waitress was even sweeter. It was a busy Friday and yet they still made us feel special. The lighting is always super low in the evening. They have counter seating, high top tables and low top seating based on your preferences. They can accommodate larger groups easily here. The bathrooms are gender neutral and individual rather than communal. Let's start with the cocktails on today's adventure to The Pearl. Delicious and stiff describe the Cosmo martini and margarita we ordered. Can't go wrong with a classic. My husband's favorite thing about The Pearl is their variety of shelled oysters. I am not a fan of the texture so I opted for the peel and eat. Large shrimps with a house made cocktail sauce made this a must order. A kick of that horseradish will keep you dipping for more. Ha. I ordered the clam chowder to keep the seafood theme and boy did that not disappoint. It was fresh with bites of real clams (some in shells) with chunks of vegtables in a nice fresh broth base with a hint of creaminess. Yep, coming back for that! My husband ordered the burger. Usually for a Friday night date my husband doesn't go for a burger but the table next to us had one. He thought it looked so good. Welp, his eyes were right because it tasted unbelievable. It was cooked a perfect medium with no blood but a solid center that wasn't too pink with more red center. Perfect medium and not having to order a medium rare. The blue cheese topping gave it some rich depth with a sweet taste of the jam topping. Take a bite of some hearty tater tots and get ready to be sent to cloud 9. The biggest downside for me was the lack of variety on their menu. Sometimes a large menu is a downsize for the kitchen but they execute their food well so why not throw some more items on the menu. Let me start by saying how mad at myself I am for not having come here sooner! A friend of mine had recently been to the Dublin location and raves about the oysters and happy hour so I though we would give it try for a Sunday brunch. Man, best decision I will make this week! We started with a Bloody Mary (you get select heat level which I always appreciate) which comes with a Miller High Life side car. How fun is that?? Bloody was perfect. Great start so far! When you see a starter called Fried PB&J Bites you have to try them right? All I can say is that while it's a great starter it would be an equally fantastic dessert. Fried dough with PB&J filling served on top of marshmallow fluff and a Ohio maple syrup and hot pepper infusion. The combination is simply sinful. And so worth the calories. We then had an order of the N'awlins Style Baked Oysters. Covered in cheese and broiled served in a delectable spicy garlic butter with bread for dipping. Three to an order and rumor has it you can get them for $2.50/each during happy hour. I could literally eat a dozen and not feel the least bit guilty. For our entrees (I know you're shocked we kept eating) we had the omelet of the day with skillet potatoes and the Tavern Benny which is a homemade biscuit, two house made sausage patties, perfectly poached eggs and sausage gravy. All I can say is I cannot wait to come back and you need to get here ASAP. COVID protocols are good and there is a real semblance of normalcy in here (other than everyone in masks) that I really appreciate. The ambiance inside is very dim. The food was quite excellent! The Arctic char is laying over a bed of cauliflower purée (cauliflower mashed "potatoes") which is hard to see due to the white plate. The fish was cooked to perfection. Very crispy on the outside & piping hot & juicy on the inside. I've never had fish cooked like this. It reminded me of crackling skin on a pork shoulder. The entire dish was tasty! The Parmesan baked clams were so good. The Jalapeño cornbread is quite the combo of flavors that sync well together. Tastes good with or without the honey & butter. My friends enjoyed their Cuban sandwich & 50 layer lasagna. One, was happy she ordered the sandwich despite the photos...which didn't do it justice. I have provided an updated one for your convenience. My friend requested extra sauce for her lasagna. She was happy she ordered the dish despite there being no photos. We all enjoyed our food very much. The only reason it's not a 5 star is bc our waiter was very slow with coming to our table. The place was almost empty when we left & we were pressed for time to get to our next destination. read more

I had an amazing time at The Pearl. I always get a cinnamon roll when I come because they are the best in the city. It's a guilty pleasure. I ordered the shrimp and grits, and it was amazing. The Kitchen had a mishap and put kielbasa on it when i ordered it without, but my waiter took care of it right away! I also had a mimosa kit! Quick note - order a mimosa kit instead of two individual mimosas, it's about the same price :) i will definitely be back! read more

I have never been here but because of happy hour deals had to give it a try! Half off starters, snacks, sandwiches, wine, beer and cocktails. We went on a Friday evening. The service was amazing (despite the business). Our server Jessica was prompt with greeting us, gave recommendations on cocktails, and always checked to make sure our food/drinks were good. The food was very good. We shared an assortment of starters/snacks. Wings, jalapeño corn bread, fries, deviled eggs, and clam chowder. Needless to say we were full!!!! The Pearl really does live up to its name. Upon our one hour late arrival, on a Friday night the hostess went out of her way to still use her magical wiggle of the nose and some how make a table for two appear at peak dinner hours. Within minutes of being seated we had the most fantastic waitress who made some stupendous drink and app recommendations. They all know the menu so well! Apps, drinks, dinner and dessert all amazing preparations. It's a team effort at The Pearl. Great job! read more
Had the best time getting NYE dinner here! They did a great job following COVID guidelines- reservation/calling system in place so people don't congregate at the front, masks for all employees, QR code's in place of paper menus, and clear non intrusive dividers between close tables. CMR has built their brand around taking care of their customers and The Pearl is no exception! Our server was extremely busy but had I not been paying attention, I wouldn't have ever noticed based on his interactions with us. He was calm cool collected and never made us feel rushed (even on NYE when they are most certainly on a tight timeline to flip tables). When our QR code menus weren't loading on our phones, he quickly got us paper menus without issue. He was kind, attentive, and speedy! We got the devils on horseback (bacon wrapped dates) and fried pb&j appetizers. Both amazing! Although I will say, the fried pb&j was more like a dessert IMO. I got the pub burger for dinner, it's my go to every single time we eat here. It's just SO good! Pro tip: add bacon to it! My husband got the fish and chips and loved them as well. The bourbon bacon beautiful cocktail is delicious and comes with a little slice of candied bacon (I really like bacon okay??). My husband loved the Duke of Pearl cocktail, it comes with a little army man! A cute touch. Lastly, the atmosphere here can't be beat. The low lights make for a romantic feel but the upbeat music and bustling vibe make it a great option for groups as well! Their playlist is top notch. read more

Went here as a surprise for my birthday. I hadn't even heard of this place before but oh my goodness it was marvelous! First of all the cocktails were delightful. I had an amaretto sour and my fiancé had mint mojito. For an appetizer we had raw and fried oysters and they were superb, some of the best in the Columbus area we had tried. We split fish and chips and a sirloin steak - both to die for. Finished it off with a slice of Oreo pie and just wow. This place will definitely be visited again soon. read more
