I needed to trim my layers before my trip, and I remember my MIL goes here to get my nephews hair cut, so I thought I would give it a try... when my hair was finished she turned my chair to show me the back of my hair and I was completely MORTIFIED! not only was the trim not what I asked for ( a V cut) but she clearly did not know how to layer hair! the cut did not blend together..but the top half of my hair above was cut straight across which made it look like I was wearing a short bob wig on top of my regular hair!!!! This is by far the worst cut I've ever had in my LIFE!! I came here after finding this place on Yelp, I'm not from the area and was just passing through while on vacation. I really needed a haircut & had time to kill. Judy assisted me and she gave me exactly what I wanted. It was a simple trim & layers followed by a scrunching (I have curly hair) and I was done. If you have straight hair you may want to have them style it for you. Overall if I were passing through again & need a haircut this would be my go-to place. The staff was very nice but the cut was horrible!! I brought a picture that the stylist glanced at for about ten seconds. My cut looks NOTHING like the picture, it's not even near the same length. My hair looks like a short version of the same hot mess I walked in with. I have never, even coming to the perfect cut in the past, had a cut take less than a half hour, this cut was done before I even knew what happened!! To add insult to injury, the stylist was about to send me out the door a big poofy frizzy mess with no product in my hair, talking about doesn't that look nice. I had to ask for it. This was my first visit to the salon and I was helped by Sharlene. It was a fantastic experience. I wanted a very mod, asymmetrical cut and she made sure to clarify exactly what I was looking for, clearly made suggestions to help tailor the cut to me, and made sure I approved of each alteration. The result was exaclty what I was after- asymmetrical, mod, yet not too over the top. Sharlene had a very relaxing personality, was easy to talk to and was obviously passionate about her work. She definitely had a good knowledge of products, but was not overly pushy in selling them. I'm definitely looking forward to seeing her again in the future. You get what you pay for here. It's inexpensive. The quality of work is very inconsistent. I've sometimes had decent haircuts here. I've sometimes had cuts by stylists who do a sloppy "rush job" on my hair and are far more interested in answering the phone or chatting with someone in the lobby than they are in cutting my hair. This place may not be the best choice if you want to be sure that your hair is done right. read more

My husband and I get out hair cut here regularly. They always pay careful attention to what we ask for and do an excellent job. Yesterday we were down in San Diego and in a rush and so we got our hair cut down there. Unfortunately, the stylist in San Diego botched my hair cut and so I came into the Perfect Cut this morning to get it fixed. Sara did an AWESOME job of cutting off the ends that were uneven and she took care of everything in less than 10 minutes! I moved to Vista a couple of years ago and have tried a handful of local hair salons in the area. I know what a good hair cut is as I have gone to inexpensive and expensive salons in my haircutting years of experience. You can get a really good one or a really bad one regardless of the haircut fee. A good hair cut 1) LASTS months to even a year 2) sits on one's head correctly taking into account thin spots, cowlicks, face shape, etc. 3) no strands that "stick out". I am really, really particular about my hair cut and when I find someone really good, I stick to them. I tried Michelle (M) on recommendation by one of the yelpers. I went in for a cut and highlghts (don't try highlights/ color with someone you don't know well). I came in already telling her I was really nervous about trying any new place/ person out as I had really grown to love the lady I used in Orange county but it was too far. I let her know that I had tried 3 other stylists in the area and 2 had been good cuts but I didn't like the style (didn't quite match my picture that I gave them) and one had been not so good (scraggly after a couple of weeks). I also let her know of my above criteria for a good haircut and let her know all the issues about my hair that I am aware of with regards to cowlicks, thin spots etc. I gave her a picture of myself and what kind of a hair cut style I was looking for as well. I had clear intentions about what I wanted as I have learnt that when you don't, and you don't know the stylist, you can end up with something you are unhappy with. M was the one who added confusion to the picture when she kept saying she didn't think I would want to highlight my hair if it was too short. I didn't quite understand this as my former hairdresser highlighted my hair when it was even shorter than the hairstyle in the picture I gave her (M) - and it looked great! I told her that I wanted highlights that weren't drastic (as the two times that I had done it before, they were barely noticeable) but something just a little more noticeable but natural looking. I never had to communicate what I wanted with my former stylist. She just knew what would look good on me. I just chose the color. I have to say that M was very patient with me and I'll give her credit for that but I could tell she was gritting her teeth while trying to be patient the whole time. It didn't come naturally. Also, her communication skills could have been better. I like to learn and always ask questions when I am getting my hair done. Her answers were standard for some questions. Others, it appeared she didn't know the answer to the questions and tried to fudge the answer. Others, I had to repeat and rephrase the answer to understand what she was saying. Several times when she was explaining her answers, I didn't understand what she was saying and she would repeat the same thing back to me without trying to rephrase and try a different approach for better understanding. I have been to other salons before and always ask lots of questions. I have met and experienced much more knowledgeable hairstylists. The most annoying thing that I experienced at this place was that they charge you for everything and lack excellent customer service. They charge extra for blowdrying/ shampooing. They wanted to charge me for FOUR haircuts at the end of my session despite a) never telling me about this upfront when I asked them for the fee and b) didn't even take into account that it was Michelle who was nervous about cutting my hair and thus, it was her decision to go slowly though the cut -not me not knowing what I wanted (which they not in so many words were trying to shift the blame on me on why it took so long and why they were trying to make valid the charge for 4 haircuts. I told them this was ridiculous!). If she did cut my hair four times, I sure didn't notice it as it was the same procedure (I always observe what they are doing) as my other stylists and she didn't even do as many layers as my other stylists for the same style. She only showed me once a hair cut that didn't even take her long to do and didn't match my picture at all. The asian girl there had a bad attitude as well. She said that she had sat there and watched M cut my hair 4 different styles(untrue) and would NOT let me not pay for that. She had a nerve! I went home and flat ironed my hair (how I check to see if it is even) and the LH and RH sides weren't even with respect to lengths and strands sticking out. I am just going to repair it myself. They ended up charging me for only 1 (tried to make it 2) when I refused to pay for 4. The highlights were an ordeal as well. In the end, it wasn't even colored, they wouldn't let me borrow the hair dryer to see if it was even and they wanted to charge me to make it even. I give credit to M for not highlighting all of my hair but still was unsatisfied with the results - not natural and looked like a teen with uneven colored streaks. read more

Went in yesterday to get my hair cut, had a friend who recommended this place so I figured I'd give it a shot. I just wanted a simple nothing to serious, for the last 19 years whenever I get a haircut I always just say "long layers" and it comes out fine every time. Until two cut my hair. At first it seemed okay she was nice.. but when I get home I look in the mirror and saw that her version of a layer was just 1 fat line in the middle. Doesn't even look like she knew how to layer. So I decided to go get it fixed and spend another 20 bucks just to make my hair look decent because she messed it up so bad.. so just a heads up! :/ read more

I decided to come here on a whim while I was waiting for my car to get fixed up at the Firestone across the street. I am very picky with who does my hair and I usually only go to salons that I've researched and seen reviews for, but I had 2 hours to kill, desperately needed a haircut and decided to give this place a chance. I didn't have terribly high expectations for this place, but holy crap did they come through for me! I got about 5 inches of hair cut off, layers and side swept bangs and my hairdresser did it all perfectly! I went in to get my hair done for our 29th wedding anniversary date night and Jeanelle did an amazing job! I not only wanted a few highlights put in, but also for the grey that was there to be covered, not to mention a cut and style. She took the time to do it right and the highlights lifted perfectly - like I was born with them! In fact it came out so good that she took a couple of pictures when it was finished. My son got his haircut on January 2nd and his cut was choppy, unlayered and looked like an amateur did the job. The stylist said she had done hair for 12 years. I understand it's very hard to cut a 18 month olds hair but your sign out front says you do (CHILDRENS) hair cuts. The stylist just hacked away at his hair there was no flow to it. I can't even style it I have to wait until it grows out more before I can even try to get his hair cut again to fix it . Also stylist reminded me that it's not going to be a perfect haircut. I love Lucia. Her cuts are great, beautiful layering and fabulous color. She's not overly chatty but not mute either. She takes her time, we talk over options and she always brings out the swatch book and gives me her opinion. The shop offers plenty of product for sale. However, I too wish they would take appointments for cuts. I always call ahead to make sure Lucia is working if I don't make a color appointment and wait my turn in rotation until she becomes available for my trim. read more

Rarely does my schedule allow me to plan ahead weeks in advance for a salon visit. I happened to be at Vons and was in desperate need of a trim. I got Michelle and was ecstatic! She did an amazing job!! A couple weeks later my two younger girls decided to cut all of their hair off (over 10") so I brought them to Perfect Cuts. One got Michelle, the other got Christina. Both were superb - attention to detail, gentle, listened to what the girls wanted, offered suggestions, etc. My youngest wanted something that just wouldn't work for her thin hair and Michelle was very honest and showed her why it would not look good - then helped her find solutions that made sense. She could have just followed directions, yet she knew that by doing so it would not turn out. I appreciated her candid, honest feedback. "The perfect cut" has the best is the staff I've seen in any business. They are all like family and joke around with each other and the customers which really makes getting a haircut fun! I've gotten my haircut by nearly every lady in the salon and they've all done a great job but the best of the best is without a doubt Shaylene ( hope I'm spelling her name right). She is so versatile and talented I HIGHLY recommend that you make an appointment with her ASAP. She's been able to fix my botched at home dye jobs, give me the best cut every time, and she can remember your life story. She's dyed my hair from blond to red to brown and everything in between. She's also been able to give me the cutest layers, the most precise bob, and the most badass pixie cut around. Don't do it! Beware, if you don't get the right person, you are so out of luck! I have been going to this place for a couple of years now, and I guess I have been very lucky to get Kristina or Judy. But I found out how lucky I am the hard way. I took my daughter in three days ago and thought it would be fine for a simple wash and small trim. She got some random old lady that is the worst person in the world to work with long hair! She cut chunks from my daughters very long hair & left them in her hair. Then she tried to 'washout' the hair and swirled her hair around in a small sink creating a giant dread-knot! She was disrespectful and inadequate. She even had the nerve to pull through, break ends and attempt to cut the giant knot out! My daughter cried from the mistake and we walked out. It took me and my friend 9 hours to remove this mistake. Seriously, do not go there unless you get Judy or Kristina because they are the only ones I'm ever going to recommend. Its too bad an idiot gets to work with real cosmetologist. BEWARE! read more

Two weeks ago I stopped by the salon per recommendation by several fitness club members I know who were satisfied with the service . They particularly told me to asked for Kristina. I arrived at the salon around 2:00 PM. Kristina was busy with a young lady who was going to a prom. I was told to come back at 3:30 pm which I did only to wait for another 1 hour. The salon was pretty visit. At 4:30 pm Kristina finally was free but instead of getting me she took another client who came in at 3:30Pm The receptionist excuse was this women was ahead of me and that I will have to wait another 45 minutes! They seem to have forgotten that I had been waiting since 2:00 PM. Not once did Kristina acknowledged my presence nor did she have given me an eye contact while I was waiting all that time. Racial Discrimination? I would say "yes" since I was the only Asian waiting from 2:00 Pm thru 4:30 PM I was so furious that I walked out of that place instead of creating a scene. DO NOT LET THE ASIAN LADY, TWO, TOUCH YOUR HAIR!! This review is solely for the Asian lady named Two ( or is it Too? Who knows). Absolutely disgraceful! I honestly can not believe she is a licensed Cosmetologist! She couldn't even cut a straight line!! I only get trims and my hair is stick straight- no layers, no razoring, absolutely nothing, and my hair is all one single length, including my bangs. While my usual lady Lucia (who is great, btw) was not in, I needed to get my hair cut that day ( I was going out of town) so I decided to try Two. I mean how hard can it be to cut a single, straight line?? Well, she absolutely BUTCHERED my hair. I thought it was uneven and when I mentioned it to her she swore it was even, blaming my current posture- that I was just not sitting up straight and/or looking at it correctly. Sure lady.....I went home and my bf instantly noticed, letting me know how horrible it was. Then the next day both of my coworkers pointed it out. I mean it was so obvious I couldn't believe it. I called there and Lucia told me to come in and that she'd take care of it. I initially went in for a trim of 1 inch and ended up having to get 4 inches off and I still would need an additional inch to make it completely even. Lucia worked her magic the best she could and it looks so much better now and even gave me my next hair cut for free (thank you so much Lucia- I will never cheat on you again!!) but I honestly can to believe the amount of damage Two did.
