We dined at The Perk tonight while in the area visiting family. Given the high reviews, we thought this would be a home run. This seems to be the place the locals go to have a beer and a nice meal. Having been in business since the 1800's we figured they're doing something right. The parking stinks, they have a small lot but a sign that says employees only. Street parking was a bit tough to come by. We were sat immediately and the place has the feeling of an old Bennigans. They have a fairly large menu of bar food and a few entrees. We started with the French onion soup. It was good but not great. The flavor was mild, lacked the bread but the cheese was good. For entrees we went with the crab cakes and stuffed flounder. My wife enjoyed her crab cakes although they were a bit dry. The broccoli she wasn't a fan of at all, she didn't like the cheese. My stuffed founder was bland and not fully warm all the way through. The crab imperial was good but the overall dish just lacked flavor. It was one note of just old bay. My roasted potatoes were good but they were very stingy with the portion. Only received 5 halves, strange amount if you ask me. The cole slaw was great. It was the perfect balance of acid and crunch. It was very fresh. Overall it was an okay meal. I wouldn't go out of my way to stop back in. The service lacked IMO, our sever wasn't the most pleasant and she rushed us. 2-3 stars all day... read more

Great selection of food from The Perk - something for everyone. The sweet potato fries with chipotle mayo were so tasty and crisp, maple salmon with broccoli and mashed potatoes was a great meal, and a scoop of vanilla ice cream all at a reasonable price. I went on a Wed. night and the place was packed. I had to wait 20 mins. for a table which was not a problem. It was totally worth the wait. The food was excellent. Didn't like that they didn't take reservations. The wait for us was 45 minutes long. The bar area was super packed on a Friday evening. The appetizers were great - hot and tasty! Good portion sizes. We ordered the beer battered onion rings (yum!), Old Bay fries (with cheese sauce that we wanted more of because it was so good) and the giant Bavarian pretzel (tasty and fun to share and came with that delicious cheese sauce). Still trying to figure out the allure. Went on a Sunday. It wasn't busy. Ordered potato skins, soup special and flatbread pizza special. Nothing was very warm and all was bland - pizza reminded me of Ragu pizza sauce on a Thomas' English muffin with American cheese melted on top. During COVID-19, this has been my mom and I's go to spot since it is close to her house. When we arrive we are always seated right away and sometimes we're allowed to pick where we'd like to sit outside, which is nice because I love tables with a little bit of more shade. The staff has always prompt with getting our orders, checking in, and clearing the table. Since, I am now pescatarian my options are pretty limited at The Perk, but I always enjoy the Caesar Salad, it's a nice portion size too. I'm usually sipping on a cider or their Sangria, which is pretty strong (yay)! In the future, I hope The Perk creates an extended menu for vegetarian/vegan options. Tip: The Nacho's could be better. We went on a busy Saturday afternoon for a late lunch. We have kids and our server was more than patient and efficient with her service. We waited about 15 minutes for a table but no biggie at all. The atmosphere is cute and cozy! We had wings, the pretzel, French onion soup,fries, a burger, kids hot dog and pizza. Everything was delicious. Came out hot and tasted great. Especially for the price. My husband had draft beer and it was crispy cold! Will be back for sure! I love that it's family friendly too. Everyone loves the "Perk" and I am one of them. That said, I was a little disappointed with the onion soup I had today. The cheese was not Gruyère. It seemed like they used flavorless mozzarella. Hope they make a correction. read more

This restaurant is always good. The food is always freshly prepared and they have great specials. I've been here about three times or so. Two of the times I've gotten a seafood special either stuffed flounder or salmon. Both were incredibly tasty and probably one of the best fish dishes from a local place. As much as I love the food - did I mention the super creamy and buttery potatoes or the fresh and perfectly cooked veggies - this place is tiny and always crowded. The place has several dining areas but the waiting area is SMALL, the bathrooms are SMALL, if you are claustrophobic - wait outside, but cross your fingers that others don't have the same idea because there are only two benches amidst the well kept landscaping. I can't imagine how bad it must be in the winter when everyone is bundled up - how tight the waiting space must be. And just one long bench. They so apparently call your name over a speaker if you should choose to wait outside. They could invest in heat lamps. If you don't mind waiting an hour to be served really tasty food then stop by! This place is great. I love the cozy seating, the old school feel of the building, the servers are great and the menu has such a plentiful mix of options. You definitely won't be disappointed. Oh and the desserts are pretty stellar too. I recommend the Carousel Burger and the steak sandwiches. We also enjoyed the pirogues, and know that a lot of the stuff comes with homemade chips which are good but you can upgrade to fries or other stuff if you want, I personally prefer getting something else other than the chips. Try the chocolate cake for dessert if you're a chocolate on chocolate lover. read more

The Perk is a comfy, old corner-type pub, with a great lunch crowd and very good pub grub. Their menu is extensive, so if you can't find something to please your whimmy desires you might as well stay home. My friend and I split three things, and it was too much food. We started with the sauteed pierogies which had a terrific pan-sear which made the outside crispy and wonderful, and surrounded by these amazing sweet caramelized onions - 5 stars Followed up with an order of the honey sriracha glazed wings. The glaze was very tasty, the wings themselves needed to be more tender to grab a 4th star - 3.5 stars The turkey BLT was good. Bacon was cooked perfectly, the turkey was quality and the artisan wheat bread was the winner - 4 stars The regular fries side to the BLT were nice and crisp. Beer selection was good but I hate when my first choice after reading the full draft list "kicked just last night". Take a pen and cross it off the beer menu. I definitely look forward to my return visit the next time I am up that way. read more

It was a beautiful day and enjoyed the Celtic festival in Bethlehem PA. The day was over and my stomach was growling in my Kilt. Don't judge lol I have great legs. I Yelp the local area, about 5 miles away was an establishment The Perk In a small town of Perkasie. Very clean outside and decorated nicely with attached roof lights. The interior had a decent size bar and was very comforting. We ate at the bar and my GF ordered a chocolate butterscotch martini which was made perfectly. We both ordered the Flat Iron steak with mushrooms and sautéed onions. Now I have been to quite a few up scale steak joints and I'm not gonna lie here. The Flat Iron steak was a nice size, done to perfection and had a very enjoyable flavor. I personally thought it was done better then some of the more pricey places. With two steaks and 4 drinks the bill was $64. If I'm in the area again I will definitely return or maybe even drive the 50 minutes to eat there again. You honestly cannot beat the food and prices here. It's a town gem and for good reason. A dear friend and I came in for a later dinner and only waited about 25 mins to be seated on a busy night. Service was very attentive. Food? Basically, the sweet potato fries here must be what angels eat in heaven. The perk was not on its game . So been here a many times both lunch and dinner . I would say sandwiches and appetizers and stuff like is good. But we had dinner last night and it was bland and not cooked right . Hubs had the shrimp tortellini. It was awful. I really mean it. Take it off the menu. The sauce was so bland and then it had like 3 shrimp. And then all I could taste was the water that the shrimp were boiled in. The waitress took it away. I mean there was no helping this dish. It was in season less bland seafood water. Ok... the grilled chicken. First 1 very tiny over cooked slapped with the sauce poured over top of it like clumps chicken. I'm going to say it was sooo rubbery I had also the roasted potatoes. 4 tiny half potatoes No seasoning again! This chef really doesn't like to season food. Oh and applesauce that had must of been next to cheddar cheese cuz I found specks of that in it. Gross. Sent that back How .. I dunno. For the price of the food it just was not good. Thank god we order the giant pretzels and we got soup or salad with the entrees. Cuz otherwise we didn't eat. Very disappointed. Service was great. Loved the waitress. She was amazing . Place was clean as always. Just will stick to lunch sandwiches from now on because the entrees need a helping hand in many ways. Like seasoning and not being cooked to a rubbery tough perfection that a sharp knife felt like it wouldn't do the job. The perk needs to step it up.
