Cool vibe, active crowd, music turned up! But drinks were mostly well made even with the crowd (one Mule was basically vodka and no ginger beer...). But a fun crowd, friendly people and a cool place to late night hang with your peeps and feel comfortable, like no one is rushing you or judging you for anything. A more laid back and casual crowd then you would expect to find in the middle of 90210-land. Definitely more active late at night - so check it out and have a whiskey drink or two. Cutest outdoor space. Love the server, Mackenzie (Mack), honestly, our group was saying we can't remember the last time we had such a friendly, bubbly, awesome server. She deserves a raise ! So fortunate to have this place in walking distance during covid. My critique for management would be tweaking the vibe. Kind of weird with club music and sports. The employees really ruined this first time experience for me. The bartender Taeo appeared was charging me more and differently for the same well margarita. I noticed immediately as he delayed as if reading my physical appearance for a price and telling me $16. I paid cash, he handed me a receipt showing my drink was $14, but still only returned $2. I wanted to test this one more time, so I ordered the exact same thing and this time was told $15. Again he kept the extra buck and returned $5 with a receipt saying it was $14. The drinks themselves were subpar, I really regretted spending my money here. I work in service and tip very generously as that's how I also make my living. This is wildly unprofessional. I encourage management to take immediate action. The back area has a big screen which would probably be nice for live sporting events. Ambient lighting and even a photo booth that fails to take cash. Whiskey bar with hip hop and throwback music? Hell yes. It's a bit cramped inside and if you don't like the smell of cigarette smoke, the outside patio won't provide much respite. The outdoor seating area was pretty big and they were projecting the game on the wall and a movie. There's also another indoor type of seating area in the back! PARKING: -We didn't drive and I didn't see a parking lot but I think there was some metered street parking? It's next to the Beverly Center so I wouldn't imagine there's a lot of parking! WAIT: -We had no trouble finding a table for 7 on a Friday night (but it was the weekend after New Years so it was pretty dead haha). Yes! Came here for Halloween weekend and it was everything I wanted - enough people dressed up, a small dance floor and good cocktails. Our bartender was awesome. Outside, they had Army of Darkness projected against the wall. My friends could not stop watching. I will be back because there was no hassle at the door, and it was really fun! I came to this place as the reviews said this is a good place to come to at night and have a good time. Well that's completely wrong. They will take your tab and forget that you made one and charge you wrong. We ordered one drink and wen to close our tab and the bartender could not find our card. I don't think taking one drink would be forgetful enough lose my card to make payments. If I was the manger I would make sure I take the time to account for all transactions to make money for my owners. I don't know how to feel about this place because the first time we came here drinks were really good. We got lilokai lemonade & hot girl winter which was my favorite. They also had some band playing. The second time we came here the girl bartenders left & it was just the boys. They were so busy that they were only pouring shots, beer, & wine. Then I went back to the bar to ask about this charge and I was treated as if I was in the wrong for thinking it was strange for a bar to charge you $50 in addition to your payment. Yes the money is going to go back on my account, but for them to do this without telling you, and then to act like you are the one in the wrong for thinking it's bizarre for a bar to do something like this--as if every bar does this--is completely unacceptable. I'm very glad my friends and I came across this new find! We went on a Saturday night and the place was popping around 9:30-10 pm. The bars were filled to the brim with people lining up to order drinks, groups of friends were dancing to the fun music in the background, and to make matters even more interesting: there were doors leading out to the patio with a big movie projected on the wall for people to watch while drinking and socializing! It was so nice and a great way to mingle with friends. I ordered the following cocktail: KIDD'S CUP 5/5 -- Bourbon, Crème de la Fruits de Pasion, Orgeat, and Lemon. Although it was on the sweeter side, it still had me buzzing for the night. I liked the interesting recipe for this particular drink and I was pleased to find that it was the featured cocktail on the blackboard hanging above the bar (see picture). read more

Every so often, my wife and I get thrown off on our nightly quests and rarely does the alternative end up being better. This was one of those rare nights where we ended up at a better place than the one we had originally planned to go. We had intended to go to Toca Madera so we took an Uber there and the doorman said that they were too crowded inside so we should head over to The Phonex for a drink and try a bit later. We looked at each other and said "That place with the neon sign down the block?" You couldn't tell anything from a distance other than it looked like a dive bar so we had to make a call. Do we go there or get back in the Uber and go somewhere else? We decided to try it. Big bonus for us! This place is great! We ordered a Delerium Tremens for me and a Tito's & Soda for my wife from Laura the bartender. I intended to just have one there and bolt but Laura was so damn awesome that the next thing we knew, we were sitting at the bar doing shots and having a great time listening to some of the best old school Hip Hop and throwback music I have heard in awhile.
