Untruthful claims! So I stopped by a few days ago to fix my screen. Admittingly, they were nice. But they gave me a quote that was the SAME as what Apple would charge. When I asked why, they said "Our parts are the same as what Apple uses" FALSE. People. PLEASE. Do your research. Google it. You CANNOT get Apple screens outside of Apple. How do I know? I used to work for Apple. Its impossible. Only Apple can give Apple level quality screens. Anything else, no matter how good, is not the same and as good quality. And y'all shouldn't be charged as much. That's why phone repair places are cheaper; their parts are not as good as Apple's legitimate screens. If you want Apple level quality; go to Apple and pay the high cost. Otherwise, phone repair places give you lower quality and SHOULD charge you less. This place doesn't do that. The ONLY way to get apple quality screens is if you take your phone to Apple for them to get it fixed, or if the phone technicians gives you a used screen from an old phone. Either way, it is terrible business practice to charge as much as Apple and lie to the public; only Apple has completely original Apple parts and screens. Scam. Edit: see my screenshot of the owner FALSELY claiming they use the same parts as Apple. Simply impossible and not true.

Scratches, peeling and visible damage was caused by the 'technician'. This picture was taken while I was still in the store.

Extremely disappointed and upset these guys damaged my property. I went in to ask if they could fix my Beats Studio 3 headphones which were loose on the left side due to a plastic part of the inside of the headband which was cracked. Moe told me to come back in 30 minutes while they reviewed the issue "to see if they could fix it". I came back 30 minutes later, waited for probably about 15 more minutes and out come my $400 (still have the receipt if you need proof) headphones in worse condition than when I left them - glued, all scratched and completely esthetically destroyed in the left side. Very upsetting. The 'technician' not only glued my headphones without my permission/consulting me what the options were for repair he also glued them to where the left side wasn't able to fold in any longer - how am I supposed to put them back into the case if they don't properly fold?? (They took my headphones to the back again and unglued that part but come on, common sense would say to ensure my headphones still function properly - that is literally your job.) That's not even the worse part - the 'technician' did an extreme hack job. The left side of my Beats are all scratched up and peeling now!! See pictures of the right side (good side) compared to the hack job this guy did on the left side - totally ruined my headphones. I take great pride in taking care of my belongings and this guy destroyed my personal property and all he kept saying was "well I fixed what the problem was". That's like taking your car to a mechanic for repair and the mechanic returns your car to you all keyed up. This guy didn't care at all about taking care of my property which should be his number one priority when dealing with customers and fixing their products. In fact he complained that he'd been "working on it for an hour" - really? Because I walked back in exactly after 30 minutes and 15 minutes later that guy (the 'technician') walked in with a handful of Dunkin Donuts - feel free to roll the tapes on that one. Moe's attempt to rectify the situation was to "not charge me". Of course I shouldn't be charged for that guy damaging my property! After all of this he also stated that they "don't normally repair headphones" and he was doing it basically as a courtesy. What?! If you don't do the repairs I'm inquiring about then say that from the beginning! Not after my headphones are ruined! Also, he blamed the 'tool' the guy used to take apart my headphones for causing all the scratches - as someone who works in product development, have you ever heard of masking to minimize damage when working in p? Clearly these guy did not care that they damaged my property and I was so frustrated I needed to leave. Instead of taking it upon themselves and making the decision to attempt to "fix" my headphones after "seeing if they could fix it" I would have rather 1. Been consulted on options for repair or 2. Been told they wouldn't be able to repair. Again to reiterate, even if I had been consulted and we decided to move forward with "repairing" I simply do not understand how these guys could think it's acceptable to return a customer's goods in worse condition than when they were dropped off. I look forward to hearing back on a solution/options to ACTUALLY rectify this situation. 1/22/20 UPDATE - the left head phone on my Beats have now fully broken and my headphones do not work. I went to put them on as I always do and the glue the guy tried to fix my headphones with broke causing the wire to break and my headphones don't turn on now. It is absurd that it has been almost 3 weeks and nobody has contacted me to resolve this issue. I officially have broken headphones that even if I wanted to take to Apple they wouldn't take for repair now because these guys have clearly and visibly damaged my headphones. See image attached where the wires of my headphones are now exposed and where the glued plastic cut the wire to my headphones. Unbelievable this is acceptable work considered by the owner and employees of this establishment.

The gentleman at the counter gave me a price quote and assured me it would only take about an hour, so I told him I'd be back the next day. I returned as planned and handed the phone over. Thankfully, it turned out to just be a screen issue after all! The repair itself was done incredibly quickly and efficiently. He even let me know to come back if I ran into any issues with his work, but everything has been perfect so far and I highly doubt I'll have any problems. The quality of work and the speed make it worth it, but the prices were definitely a bit higher than I initially expected. I ultimately decided on 4 stars because they charge an extra fee if you pay with a credit card, on top of the regular tax. Depending on what you're getting fixed, that credit card fee plus tax can easily add an extra $20+ onto your quoted price. I know a lot of restaurants are starting to do this nowadays, but I wasn't expecting it at a repair shop and wish I had known in advance so I could decide if I wanted to use a different payment method to avoid the surcharge. Fortunately I was able to do so. Overall, they do fantastic, fast work, and the customer service is great! Just be sure to bring cash or an alternative payment method if you want to save a few bucks on the fees!

However, as someone with over 46 years of…read moreexperience serving the community, government agencies, and local city and law enforcement with technology advice, I feel obligated to be honest. Unfortunately, my experience at Jay Repair was inadequate and unprofessional in several key areas. While the conversation began respectfully, the service itself fell short of reasonable expectations. I had to wait over an hour to have my screen replaced a second time because the first display installed was not designed for the iPhone 14 Pro. It was a screen intended for the iPhone 14, not the Pro model. This mistake should not happen at a repair shop, especially when model-specific hardware differences are well documented. This exact issue happened to me previously with an iPhone 11 Pro in 2023, and unfortunately, it has now happened again. For clarity: There is only one correct display type for iPhone Pro and Pro Max models--the Super Retina XDR display. There is no legitimate "lower HD" version for Pro models. Apple does not promote or support such distinctions on their website. Anyone familiar with Apple technology understands that software and hardware are tightly integrated, and Apple updates each device specifically. That's why repair shops must provide accurate, up-to-date information about replacement screens--especially for newer models like the iPhone 14 Pro, 15 Pro, and 16 Pro, which require Super Retina XDR displays exclusively. As a certified technician myself and a long-term Apple user since the iPhone 3GS, I am well aware of how Apple operates. Despite the inconvenience, delay, and incorrect installation, I was still charged full price, when a price adjustment would have been appropriate--at minimum as compensation for the error and time lost. This is why I'm deducting two stars. I also made the technician aware of excessive heat generation after the screen installation, which is a serious concern. While the shop policy states that a 15-minute repair is not guaranteed, I had already waited far beyond that and should not have been charged again under these circumstances. To be fair, the technician remained calm and mindful, which is why this review stands at 2.5 stars rather than lower. I had also called 20-25 minutes in advance to let the shop know I was on my way, yet the correct display was not available in-store, causing an additional 49-minute delay. I documented this on video as well. I don't want to discredit you as a person, but the service itself reflects a lack of up-to-date technical understanding, which is concerning for a repair shop owner. Technology evolves constantly, and repair practices must evolve with it. We all learn every day--but staying current is essential in this line of work.

The colors were off and looked terrible, and it had a chin at the bottom. I went back and paid $250 for a proper oled iPhone screen. I was happy with it. I even went back to him weeks later for a screen protector. Everything looked and worked great for 3 months until it didn't. The screen started to glitch when I set it to full brightness then it started to flash and glitch with any movement. Finally my screen just failed. An ideal place would at least have a 90-day warranty or at least try to fix it, especially for a returning customer. He definitely recognized me because I was there 3 times within the past 3 months. Who would want to come back 3 times anyways? He had no intention whatsoever to help me. I asked if he could just check on the screen but he didn't bother answering any questions or concerns. Instead he was rude and I, the customer, had to ask "So how can we fix this?" He wanted $250 AGAIN to make me pay for a new screen. Why would I do that if the first one completely failed? Fool me once. Tuh! He just lost a loyal customer and I cannot recommend this place. You will feel regretful. Just go to the Apple Store so you won't lose out on your money.
