Use to go to the one on Old Saint Augustine Rd and US 1. Food and service was great. That is not true with the one on Normandy Blvd. The service was slow with little follow up. It took a long time to get our food and when it came it was barely warm. I had to send the fries back because they were not done. The greens and slaw were good. My wife had ribs which were OK. The pork was fatty and sitting in a bowl of grease. The chicken was so dry that I had am sure it was the day before's. The turkey was bits and pieces that were to dried out to eat. we were there at 11:30 for lunch. read more

ATTENTION OWNERS OF The PIG BBQ: This is the only bbq restaurant in our immediate area then even has a bbq potato, that is why I have even bothered to stay their business. But, this was my final straw this was 1 of 2 to-go orders I picked up for my family. My experience happened on either October 19th or 20th and was completely horrible, my treatment by management (Karla) was unreprehensible, to top it all off I was never given my refund. I have reported you to the Florida Health Inspector for unsafe food handling procedures, included with these pictures. Originally I called in to the Blanding store because my Okra Appetizer was not a complete order. I called within 10 minutes of leaving after 8pm due to there being only 15 okra for a 3.99 appetizer, they barely covered the bottom in a single layer of small to-go container. My name was supposedly put on a list, for a replacement order of okra by the cashier/ waitress. About 10 mins later my 13 yr old daughter went to start eating the fries of a shrimp platter. She found there was a complete bite mark missing from the fry. With that disgusting discovery I started checking the rest of the food, like the 1/2 beef I had in the fridge for my bf, and both potatoes. I found nothing amiss with the potatoes this time. My family was sent home with hard dried bits of greasy black crusty "meat" for a 1/2 lb of "beef" in the bottom of the cup. A little of the black hard chunks had a disgusting reflectivish green thin going on this meat yet was some how greasy that was, well passed the maximum holding time per health standards. I took all remaining food back to the store. 1/2 pork potato; 1/2 beef potato plate; shrimp platter; appetizer of okra (just the container ate my 15 before started the food), extra side of veggie, and the 1/2 lb beef meat. I called in requested to speak with a manager due to the unsanitary, unsafe, unservable food leaving her kitchen. I was back at the store with the food, when she called me back. Kayla, proclaimed to me, "she reviewed the video and saw no-one eating fries while this order was being made, when I brought up the beef issue she stated "there is a cook from another store present", she couldn't comment on "how things were handled in his main store". I told her that, "that meat is not acceptable to be sent out from any restaurant, not just your restaurant." That's when I informed her I had already called in about the okra issue. And I wanted an immediate refund of the meat and the okra, she tried to say to me, "look you eat here often, you know usually our food is fine." and only she can perform refunds and she won't be in until 11am the next day. (Too bad, I also had to be at work at that time, not worth losing my job over.) I have given her ample opportunity to refund my money back to my checking account, before posting, the report to the health inspector was made the next day. I'm sorry I tried handling this internally, but your unconcerned management should not be management if unsafe food handling practices are not recognized and brought to an immediate halt. read more

Service is slow, staff is apathetic and the food is very disappointing. I have never in my life been served barbeque ribs without bones or explanation!! Apparently "The Pig" customarily serve "ribs" this way (scraping the meat into styrofoam cups)! The turkey appears to be SLICED PROCESSED DELI MEAT heated on a Grill. Overdone corn on the cob and mediocre steak fries are the sides we had. We also purchased a side of hush puppies which were tasty but excessively greasy and nearly burnt (grease may be old) and a of shrimp appetizer, which aside from the shrimp being very small and the serving size being small, were actually tasty but not worth the trip or the money spent. I rarely post my opinion unless I want to encourage others to visit an extraordinary place or I want to warn others to beware and to help them to avoid gross disappointment or being misled. I felt a inkling for a BBQ SALAD so stopped and I ordered one to go. It was close to $10 but it was big enough for two meals. I do not eat here enough to say Yay or nay but my salad was good and I have had their breakfast once which also was very good There was a good number of familys enjoying the buffett on a Sunday. Okay, let me say I use to frequent the Pig facilities as a child with my father. I remember going sometimes for breakfast as a kid. On this particular day, a bit late I wanted some ribs and since we live about 5-7 mins from this location I said why not. I remember it being good but that was, well a long time ago. We arrived and there was one car sitting outside waiting for her order and there was no one inside. The staff was friendly and accommodating. We placed our order and waited. The order came out rather quick. We got home and boy those were the biggest ribs I'd ever seen. So I decided to take a bite-omg, these ribs were not good-no seasoning, bland taste, fatty, to big. I took it back and asked the manager for refund which I only purchased two side items (okra and coleslaw) the manager said she would give refund for only the coleslaw!!!! I was very polite at first even though we had already eaten some of the disgusting coleslaw with a socket half way down in the quart of coleslaw !!! Since it ruined our dinner and I had to drive 4 miles back, I expected to get a full refund but the manager said no until I threatened to go to the news with the pics and video I had!!!! Went there December 30. Restaurant has been remodeled. New staff. I ordered the Meatloaf lunch with 3 sides. I asked for coleslaw, baked beans and fried corn. The food is mouth watering!! I had the pork sandwich with a side of Mac and cheese. and baked beans. The pork sandwich was all meat and no fat! Omg! It was to die for. I've recently moved back to the area after being away for 30 years and while out running errands for my new place, I drove past The Pig on Blanding and decided to give it a try. My first impression was that it was a bit unorganized but I found a seat and was waited on in a reasonable amount of time and the food was okay. It was not, "knock your socks off" but it was okay. So the next time I was in the area with my son, we stopped by. This is where "unorganized" is differentiated from "disorganized." Disorganized denotes an attempt at something. Unorganized shows a complete lack of concern. We at down at a table and after 10 minutes, there being three or four other tables and only three servers, we finally got to place our drink order. Another ten minutes passed before we received out drinks and placed our lunch order. About five minutes later another person came into the place, was seated immediately, waited on promptly, and received his food while my son and I sat, trying to catch the server's attention. I had just pulled out cash to place on the table for our drinks when, after nearly an hour, our food arrived. I have a question. How does one make barbecue that is both greasy and dry? How do you not cook fries? How do you stay in business with mediocre food and horrible service? I don't know and I don't care to find out. Perhaps if you suffer through the poor attitudes and what tasted like microwaved food long enough, they teat you better. This is a old favorite of mine the food is consistently good and the sauce is legendary . The pig slow cooks using real wood and serves it hot with good sides and great daily specials. One star review is generous and only given for the service. The waitress was very attentive but we were the only two people in the place at dinner time . This was my first and last visit to this "BBQ" place. Thank goodness I like bland food and didn't bring much of an appetite. The turkey was on the same level as packaged deli meat but the "grill " marks were a nice touch. It did make me want to run over it with my car after. The food came to the table faster than McDonalds which again made me question the quality and length of time it was in the microwave. My husband excused himself to the restroom and returned in 2.5 seconds stating he would rather go to the landfill. I was not surprised as the dining area was old and needed some attention. We don't eat out much and this was very disappointing and not sure we will even eat the leftovers . But the neighborhood cat will enjoy it. We wish we would gotten the Publix fried chicken meal. I live right around the corner from the Pig. The Pig has become our go-to place for carryout. We found them pleasant on the phone, the order is accurate and ready when they said it would be ready. Took the family there recently. Went there primarily to try and fix my craving for fried mushrooms. The mushrooms were barely done, in fact the big ones were still cold in the middle, which is different considering when I usually have them anywhere else, they're exploding mines of hotness. My son's turkey was, as he put it, nothing but Oscar Mayer turkey slices heated on a grill. He and I had the macaroni and cheese, which I couldn't finish, and he did, but barely. My daughter had the catfish, which she said was good, but the sides were bad. My wife had nothing but a BBQ potato, which she enjoyed. We used to love The Pig. When we lived in Illinois and came to Florida, we would buy a gallon of their sauce and take it back home to enjoy. A few years ago they changed to a mustard based sauce that none of our family cared for. Out of curiosity, my husband stopped on his lunch break to see if their pulled pork sandwich was any good. He ordered the sandwich, baked beans and I think slaw to go. He asked for a plastic spoon or a fork and the cashier looked at him like he was crazy. She said they had no plastic forks or spoons. My husband asked how he was supposed to eat a carry out order with no utensils. She replied, well most people would take it home and use their own. Worst service in the world. A party of 4 was all that was in the restaurant. Sat myself, took 5 minutes to get a waitress to bring a menu and get a drink order. Another customer, regular, came in so the waitress proceeded to spend 15 minutes talking to her. Words can't express the SEASONED GREATNESS that is The Pig's Fried Chicken! It's Juicy, Crispy, Golden Amazingness! My husband & I came in to try the lunch buffet, last time we were in we had breakfast. Which was good & priced very well. Im not usually a buffet person but we tried it. I'm so glad we did, it was worth every penny of that $8.99 that we paid. The potatoes, peppers, onions & country sausage was great & the Mac & cheese was good. But that Fried CHICKEN OMG it's the best fried chicken I've ever tasted! And there's this hot sauce that they make compliments the fried chicken perfectly. The sauce is seasoned & not exactly spicy but it have a little kick. Definitely depends on your heat tolerance. The service was great! The staff is super friendly & very welcoming! Our waitress was Hailey and she is the best. She's waited on us both times we came in and she was all smiles, very pleasant! I enjoyed the family atmosphere at this location. It may not have the greatest atmosphere but I love the place. Food is good, portions are large, and the price is great. The service is fantastic with the friendliest servers and staff. I eat breakfast there at least once a week with a group of 4-10 friends. Hailey is our usual server and knows all our drink and breakfast preferences. BEST corn beef hash around. First time we ordered take out shortly after they opened up we weren't impressed. Food was dry. Decided to try again last night. Our first clue was when the waitress said they weren't busy. Got home and the chicken breasts were charred black and dry as a bone. The pulled pork was also dry. Put all the sweet bbq sauce they gave us and used a cup of our own to moisten it enough to eat. Glass of milk $2.29, chocolate milk $2.29 (white milk with squeeze of chocolate syrup). Just bought 1/2 of milk at Publix - $2.63, qt. of chocolate milk - $1.79. And they charge you full price for 2nd glass of milk, another $2.29 !! Service was "slow" at best. We came in , where the only ones in the restaurant, waited at least 5 minutes to give our drink order. I got my coffee right away, the kids had to wait for their milk, when we "flagged" down the waitress and reminded her that the "kids" were still waiting for their milk, was told - "I told you I was getting it" !!
