Our party of 7 all experienced a delicious evening for our first time at the Pink Adobe. The service was excellent, the menu offered a wide range of drinks, appetizers, entrees, and desserts. Our group sampled an assortment, finding everything amazing. When we mentioned that one in our party was celebrating a birthday, the server replied "What color candle?". The servers surrounded our table and sang Happy Birthday when the desserts arrived, pink candle glowing. We all had a magical evening and will definitely return! read more

We have eaten here for almost 30 years. The recent iteration is hopeful after some years of not being talked about much. We remember when it was The Place To Eat. The food was good and I'm hoping they improve with the new ownership. The setting is wonderful and easily walkable from downtown. Ambiance is Santa Fe charming. We split the Shishito pepper appetizer. Husband enjoyed, I thought they were ok. The heirloom tomato salad was good, standard. Husband had the Fried Shrimp and pronounced them "good". The Jumbo Shrimp Huarache were a nice size with an interesting presentation but the flavor was a bit flat. Our dining companion had them on a prior visit and found them too spicy. I felt the red onion drowned the rest of the flavors. Chocolate lava cake was a hit. All in all it was a nice meal, absolutely nothing to complain about, even better because we dined with old friends. We will definitely try it again in hopes that they get the old Pink Adobe zine back. read more

This place should be ashamed. Worst food I had in Santa Fe. No heat, no seasoning. The service was fine but the meal was just horrible. Brought my local friends here for a special meal and was completely embarrassed. Manager acted friendly and listened to our complaints then sent over a server with dessert comped on a 300$ bill so he wouldn't have to deal it with it himself. Just another piece of crap meal dressed up like the bell of the ball to trick tourists. I've had better New Mexican style food literally anywhere. If they had owned up to their mistakes I wouldn't have written this review. Apparently they think it's appropriate to waste my time getting feedback to better themselves then taking no responsibility for ruining my evening. Our party also missed the concert we were going to because this was a 2.5 hour ordeal. Save yourself the time and just go to a Taco Bell and sprinkle some fancy garnish on it with some lines of sour crème, find a nice patio and call it pink adobe. Zero stars. read more

This place was terrible. I was in town with my family and we waited over 40 mins for our food. When it arrived, the food was cold. There was a hair in my bread -- at first, I thought it was mine, but the hair was literally baked in my bread. I tried to pull it out to no avail. I spent over $400 and when the check arrived, the tip was LITERALLY written on the receipt. I told our server afterwards that not only did it take forever for the food to arrive, there was a group (similar size) who arrived after us and got their food like 10-15 mins before us, even though they arrived 30 mins after us, she didn't try to assuage out concerns and my receipt already had a tip literally written on it. This was a terrible experience and I always extend grace but this was unacceptable. I do not recommend. read more

If you have decided to go to Pink Adobe because you read and liked the menu on the restaurant's website, DO.NOT.GO! The menu on the website is not the menu you'll be given at the restaurant. There are different dishes offered on those menus (which happens), but, much worse, the prices are not even in the same ballpark. Steak Dunigan is $37 on the website; it is 19% higher at $44 at the restaurant. Grilled salmon is $33 on the website; it is 21% higher at $40 at the restaurant. Rack of lamb is $34 on the website; it is a whopping 53% higher at $52 at the restaurant. I was already annoyed when we were brought menus because we were first brought to a table in a narrow corridor between the front door and the large dining room. When I asked for a table in an actual room rather than in a corridor, we were brought into what appeared to be the main dining room, where there were multiple tables available for a party of our size. Then, after reading the menu and not seeing the main course I was planning to order based on the online menu, I questioned the waitress about the discrepancy. She was obviously prepared, nodded her head and just said, "Yes, I know." The explanation she offered was that the former management did not "turnover the passwords", which sounds outlandish. I didn't have time to note other prices because we then left to go to another restaurant for dinner. When the current management knows that the menu on the restaurant's website is misleading, it is incumbent upon them to rectify the situation. read more

Still hoping the Pink will return to its former glory, but I'm still waiting. Have been eating here since the 70's and try to stop by at least once when in town. We had dinner here in mid November and were disappointed. They were out of crab cakes and the steak Dunnigan was over cooked. We also used to love breakfast at the Guadalupe cafe and believed the merger would be the best of both worlds. Turns out to not be the case. read more

We spent such a lovely evening on the patio of the Pink Adobe in Santa Fe. The weather was perfect and the restaurant was delightful! It was so peaceful. My daughter enjoyed excellent chicken enchiladas. I had a very tasty mole dish. The couples next to us were so friendly. We were enjoying their sweet dogs who had perfect behavior under the table during dinner. Pink Adobe is a short walk from the Inn of the Governors and the St. Francis hotels. read more

They are famous for their blue cornbread and it's dense more like a loaf of banana bread than traditional bread. It is delish and worth the visit. The menu is a Santa Fe/New Orleans fusion and there are basically no vegetarian options aside from enchiladas on the menu which was a little disappointing because I had enchiladas the night before and wasn't in the mood. The patio is nice with lights hung. It was kind of a meh experience and didn't have any wow factor for me. read more

We ordered Steak Dunnigan, Seafood Enchiladas, fried zucchini and bread pudding to be delivered. All we received was the zucchini and the enchilada was three-quarters starch posole, rice, and beans the enchilada was one-fourth of the meal which was a glop did not resemble an enchilada no bread pudding. The manager was rude and insisted there were three plates which means the bread pudding was also missing, $123.00 for limp zucchini fries an unrecognizable enchilada total bummer. 5 stars for the great service and ambiance, 2 stars for the disappointing food. Service was very friendly and efficient and the atmosphere is very cozy in a converted house with fire place. They have a unique style of chili which we didn't care for. The clams came in a red chili sauce which was swimming in butter, very much like an overly rich Indian curry. This style carried through to our entrees. The seafood enchiladas could have had anything in them because the overly rich chili completely covered up their taste. The NY steak looked wonderful and was cooked perfectly to rare, but was so dry, chewy, and tasteless that we quickly grew tired of trying to eat it. This a sign of low grade beef. I decided to take my friend to pink adobe on our last night in Santa Fe. I had great memories of pink adobe from the past . We started out at dragon bar and we had some great margaritas. I noticed on a Saturday night it wasn't crowed like it used to be and now I know why. We had the appetizer fried zucchini which was good and the vegetable soup which was also good thank goodness because when we got our dinners not so good. We both got Mexican and all I can say it was the worst meal we've had on this trip. The Mexican combo I got and my friend got was smothered with so much sauce not flavored at all. We told our waitress of the food being poor. She felt bad and took off an appetizer. So sad this local icon has gone down hill with new ownership. So many other places to eat in Santa Fe. So wanted this to be a good review. Started with the artichoke, over cooked and inedible. Sauces heavy and something from the 80's. I ordered the $29 avocado stuffed with shrimp. It was 2 huge piles of overdressed mayo slaw stuffed into avocados and one shrimp cut in half. One shrimp! My girlfriends had the chicken enchiladas which they could not even finish, that bad. Visiting Santa Fe is a real treat. It's a green chili overload - in a good way! We drove by The Pink Adobe and saw the beautiful, old building and the amazing patio. We thought we'd give it a try. We walked in and there was no host/hostess standing at the door. I walked around towards the patio and a girl walked up to me and said, "Can I help you?" It was not said in a helpful tone but more as if I was trespassing. I explained that we were there for lunch and wanted to sit on the patio. She grabbed menus and seated us without even a slight smile or letting us know who our server would be. That was our first signal of the rude staff at The Pink Adobe. Several minutes went by. I smiled at several servers and waited for ours to arrive. After ten minutes of waiting, we still had not been greeted by a server. No hello. No water. Nothing. We practically had the short lunch menu memorized while we waited for a server, any server, to come to our table. They rudely stared at us as they walked by serving the other guests. I didn't feel we should have had to chase down a server to place our order. That's not how it works and I am not the one who is employed there. Needless to say, we left. As we walked out, those outrageously rude servers didn't say one word. Nothing. They just picked up the menus and stacked them with the others. The good news? We spotted a pizza place across the street (I think it was called Upper Crust) that was truly delicious. read more

Dave goes to New Mexico part 10. The Pink Adobe is the type of restaurant I was hoping to find when I made my plans to come to New Mexico. It is whimsical, unpretentious, fun, and offers great food and decent value. I came here with a group of 10 other people from our conference. We had just been to the Don Quixote Winery & Distillery, so we were in a good mood. We were early for our reservation, but the restaurant was happy to have us come in. The table was ready for us, and we had the room to ourselves. We were seated in the Blue room. Not because it is painted blue, but because it is the only room in the restaurant where alcohol can be served. There is some odd law in New Mexico that does not allow a restaurant to make a profit on alcohol sales during a pending alcohol license change. I did not quite get all the details, but thank the heavens we were in the Blue room because The Pink Adobe makes some first class margaritas. I was intrigued by the Pink Dragon Margarita, but could not bring myself to order a pink drink. It had some sort of cactus juice in it and sounded great. The people who ordered it at our table really enjoyed it. I opted for the Silver Coin Margarita - top shelf blanco tequila with contreau and lime. Simple and delicious. I had three of the Silver Coins and the last was just as good as the first. The table ordered escargot and chips with a trio of dips - salsa, queso, and guacamole. The salsa and queso were both good. I am not a fan of guacamole, so I can't rate this version. It was my first escargot. I enjoyed them. They actually had a very delicate flavor and a nice tooth to them - like nice chewy pasta noodles. For my meal I ordered the Steak Dunigan. Supposedly, this item has been cooked in this restaurant since 1944. I can understand why it has survived on the menu for this long. It is a charbroiled 13oz. N.Y. Strip steak smothered in sauteed mushrooms and green chili sauce. I skipped the mushrooms and did not miss them a bit. The steak had a great sear and the chilis added just the right amount heat and brightness. The steak was served with spinach almandine, a few greens, and a peeled and deep fried whole potato. The potato was just okay, but the greens and spinach were great. Service was very good. The waiter was attentive without being intrusive. He did not push drinks, but he was willing to provide recommendations. I don't know what the bill came to, but the menu prices did not appear to be out of line for the quality and quantity of food. I waited 4 days to cool off before writing this review. This will sound unbelievable but I assure you that this is an honest review. Santa Fe is known as the city different and fine dining can be at the very least...different! I have been eating here on my trips to Santa Fe and I have fond memories of dining with my grandparents. I have always had good experiences and the food has been top notch. The last few visits have seen a decline in service that I can no longer remain silent. We were a group of 8 and we ordered drinks to start. Most of the drinks came out correct but 2 were wrong. When you call your drink it should not be difficult to get it right. Absolut Citron and tonic was ordered and Grey Goose Citron was delivered. This does not seem like a big deal but Absolut Citron is Lemon flavored and Grey Goose Citron is Orange flavored. When it was brought to the waiters attention he did not apologize he just said that was all that they had. Wow, what great customer service! We ordered our dinners including appetizers and salads. The appetizers and salads arrived correctly and without incident. Then the madness began...3 of the 8 entrees arrived. Then 10 minutes later 3 more of the entrees arrived including 1/2 of a split meal. We waited for the last entree and the other 1/2 of the split meal to arrive. After 10 more minutes the food had still not arrived the waiter did not apologize he just said that the expediter took the food to the wrong table so they were having to remake the order. On top of this error the 1/2 of the meal that was on the table was wrong. So it had to go back to the kitchen as well. Finally 25 minutes after the first entrees arrived the last 2 entrees arrived. How does this happen at a restaurant? The waiter never apologized...a manager never came to our table to comp anything...The waiter made sure to include the gratuity when the bill came...No wonder he never apologized nor comped anything he was going to receive his gratuity regardless of the level of service. This was inexcusable! If a manager had come by and at the very least acknowledged the problem we would all of felt better. This is the sign of a restaurant that wants to live of past glories than to continue to be a star. Rosalea Murphy the founder of this institution would be embarrassed to have her name on a restaurant that operated in this manner! Our entire group was disgusted as we left the restaurant. My wife and I were visiting Santa Fe and wanted to have a romantic night out. Her only requirement was she wanted some seafood. As you probably know, seafood is not the most common restaurant in the Southwest. We found Pink Adobe on yelp and gave it a try. Alright, I'll get started with the reason why this place gets 5 stars: Diablo Clams. Actually it's not even the clams, it's the wonderful broth they come in. It is spicy mixed with creamy mixed with so many delightful flavors. I used the free bread to soak up as much of it as I could and then just used my spoon. We also got the seafood enchiladas (very very good) and the poblano rellenos (get the shrimp, I got both and was not a fan of the nutty one). Oh, we also sat next to a lovely real wood fire. Only thing that could make it better is more draught beer, but they had some decent bottles. Definitely worth a visit! read more

Seriously, guess what it looks like. Already peeked at the picture?! Damn! Yes, it's a 300 year old pink adobe house. Clever, huh? This is good food done well. It's on the pricey side, but few places in this area of Santa Fe aren't. Quite a bit of seafood on the menu, which just always seems odd in the states that are a 1000 miles from the sea. But it didn't stop the seafood enchiladas from being damn good. The lamb chops are also good - loved the jalapeno mint jelly . The veal cheek ravioli were tasty, but unspectacular. The southern fried chicken rocks, but for $25, you could feed an army @ KFC. The service really was great. Caroline was wonderful considering our large table was not short on revelry. I could go 4 stars easily, but the price keeps me from doing it. It's just incredibly easy for two to spend $150 here, and then kinda scratch your head. Maybe a perfect lunch spot. read more

After freezing in Santa Fe we went to The Pink Adobe for dinner. Yum! We sat in one of the smaller rooms with a fireplace, ended up smelling like a fireplace too, but hey! at least we were warm. We ordered the Clams Lucifer after seeing suggestions here on yelp for them. Order some extra bread because you are going to want to eat all of the broth the clams come in, it's that good! For an entree we shared the Steak Dunigan. The steak was perfectly done and the veggies that came with were great! My only eh about the whole experience was the potato and the staff. The potato that comes with the Steak Dunigan is browned.. which sounds like it would probably be good, but it honestly had no taste at all. The staff was pleasant, but not very accommodating for our group. I would definitely go again, but I would make sure that I kept my group to less than four as it would be easier to seat there since The Pink Adobe is pretty small. read more

I am still not sure why I didn't turn around and walk out of this place when the troll like manager barked some brief orders to a subordinate to not allow us to sit in the most shady romantic part of the patio. I guess I can blame it on hunger. After some negotiating we were seated in the bar where it was much cooler. Here a shift change unfolded where one employee sh!t talked to another about someone whom was late while they totally ignored us for about 15 minutes - mind you there was only 3 other tables occupied. The only saving grace was the cold beer I sipped during this nonsense. We decided that a brief meal was in order since the vibe was unsettling. The food was not so good. I ordered a green chili that was mediocre and my bride had a $12 salad that was about the size of a small house salad. Apparently this place lives off of location and some sort of bygone reputation. We first went here in 1974, loved it then, we were able to get there a few times after then (whenever we could get there from Atlanta), and have only been able to return recently. It's still the same. The setting is terrific, and waitstaff, especially Justin, but also the friendly red headed guy who greeted us and kept checking on us, could not have been better. The Pink Adobe is a Santa Fe institution. It was started in 1944 in a three hundred year old adobe, and remains in the same location today. In fact, one of their menus from the 1940's or 50's is in the lobby. Check out the prices! So, for ambiance, this place can't be beat. Our food experience was not so great, though. It is possible that this was just an off day for them, so we might give them another try. We had early reservations, and were seated promptly. Our server was very attentive - almost too much so - and we quickly got our drinks. We started out with a salad, and the french onion soup, which has been a specialty for years. Both were good, but not really anything special. The entrees were a disappointment. My husband got their signature dish, Steak Dunigan, and I got the lobster, crab and shrimp enchiladas. Both were brought to the table without comment, and the server quickly left. We shortly found out why our previously very attentive server left so abruptly. The steak, which had been ordered medium, was charred! Not even well done, but cooked to charcoal around the edges. Even the middle was burned on the outside and definitely well done on the inside. We didn't see our server again for 20 minutes, by which time my husband had eaten as much as could of the steak. The enchiladas were tasty, but for $30 I would have expected more lobster and crab and less shrimp. All in all, this was a very disappointing experience. We had last visited The Pink Adobe on our twentieth anniversary, and as our thirtieth rolled around, we thought it would be fun to go back. I got lost wandering around Santa Fe about mid-way through my trip. Starving, I swore I was not going to walk back to the pizza place I just passed. Instead, I kept walking and found The Pink Adobe. I'm so glad I did too, because I had a wonderful Plato Mexicano, which roughly translated means: a little of everything and way too much food! Somehow I managed to eat the pork tamale, the cheese enchilada, the chicken taco and the chiles (red and green) and the pinto beans. I did say I was starving right? And thirsty too. My poor waiter was run ragged refilling my iced tea! Even though I felt like I was going to explode, I was not walking out of there without trying dessert. The options ALL sounded great, so I asked my waiter what his favorite was. As it turns out, his favorite is their Rosalea's Legendary French Apple Pie. Apple Pie, you ask? That's kind of boring. Oh no. Not this apple pie. Have you had apple pie served to you on a platter that's sizzling like fajitas do? No? Then you are missing out. They coat the thing in a hard rum sauce and drop on a dollop of vanilla ice cream. It was hot & cold slice of heaven. My mouth waters just thinking about it. I saw in some of the other reviews that the service was not great. This was not my experience at all. I had a very attentive waiter. The staff was all very friendly. It may be that I was there before the dinner rush; the place started filling up as I was, well... filling up. I'd be hard pressed to believe the staff wasn't great though. I watched my waiter serving another table - the woman requested a popular salad (usually only available at lunch), and he made it happen for her. We ordered the trio with salsa queso and quac, the salsa was okay and the other two was pretty good. I ordered the mexican platter the one with the combo. The red chile wasn't that good, I would suggest to get the green chille. Everything was small portions, they put a lot of sauce so it makes it look like its a lot. The tacos were okay too. Better than the enchilada though. Overall the food was alright, it sure wasn't worth the prices. They give you free bread though. read more

It doesn't go for uniqueness (that's why there's Tecolote Cafe and Cafe Pasqual's) It's more dependent on the atmosphere. It goes for fabulousness and flamboyance- and it succeeds. It's also in a highly paranormal part of Santa Fe, down the street from the oldest chapel in the US (San Miguel), what's considered the oldest house, and San Miguel is built atop an Anasazi kiva. What can I say? The Pink has always been at the core of this angel's thrilling adventures. If you want to impress your angel with a manly meal fit for a princess, make reservations, order the filet or the one of their fresh fish (yes, really!) entrees and enjoy the ambiance of the adobe walls adorned with traditional New Mexican art. The Guero has taken me here many times, and the food, service and wine list have always lived up to it's solid reputation. Be sure to check out the Dragon Room across the alley. It's a fantastically casual bar, cozy, and has the yummiest popcorn. Perfect for an apre ski or apre date night cap. While the Guero's fire-breathing drama eventually singed this angel's wings, he gets full credit for turning out to have more than blonde ambition in his taste for fine dining. Cross it off your list! Although a well known tourist attraction that held a good reputation for many years, there is poor quality food, inexperienced and unprofessional wait staff and mediocre hostess. The young waiter could not even describe the ingredients when asked if the lobster/crab enchiladas were real or imitation crab. After a few minutes, he said he couldn't tell from the packaging. When asked what was in the Gypsy Stew, he replied, "Broth, chicken, rice and some little things." Our party of five ordered different entrees. Three of us had gastric upset the next day! The only positive I can report is delicious blue corn bread, but don't ask the waiter for more bread, as you probably won't get it. You won't see a waiter between service of the food and his delivery of the check. Pink Adobe has crested and is definitely on the downslope! Save your money and your gut. read more

My wife and I had a wonderful dinner last night here. We sat on the patio and there was some really nice soft jazz playing in the background. I had the Steak Dunnigan, which goes for $30. I ordered it medium rare plus, and it came out rare. So I sent it back, and our really nice waitress brought out another Steak Dunnigan, perfectly medium rare, and with a nice char on the outside. I took a bite, and it was one of the tenderest and most flavorful steaks I've ever had. It comes smothered in New Mexico green chile, with mushrooms, and also delicious potatoes and a small salad garnish. This steak, while advertised at 11 ounces, seemed more like it was 16 ounces. It was a fantastic prime NY strip, one of the best steaks I've ever had, and being from LA, I've eaten at Cut and Mastro's. My wife ordered the salmon, and said it was delicious. We also had excellent margaritas with our dinner. This place has been there since 1944, and is an experience of old Santa Fe. I think its a really classy place, and worth the cost. this place has a very wierd vibe to it. an interesting combination of locals, tourists, old 50somethings and just-turned 21ers. this place is much better in the summer since it has an outside patio, and the inside is very small. why 2 stars? you will only have a good time if you go with a ton of your closest friends. This place is cozy. There are a lot of table nestled (squeezed) into a small, typically Santa Fe style building (look it up online if you don't know what that is). Granted I'm a rather large person. The 5-foot-1-inch petite lady with us was having trouble walking in the aisle without bumping into chairs. The food was okay. I ordered the cheeseburger with a "medium-well" temperature and it was VERY well-done. They offer it with an "adobe sauce," that didn't seem to have much flavor. The other two people with me mentioned their meal wasn't as good as they had before. Might have caught the cook on a bad day. Service was great! Beverages were always refilled quickly and everyone who worked there seemed to check on us. Wow what a fun dining experience! The food, margaritas, and service was amazing. Our server was Roberto and he was very friendly and prompt. We all shared the Trio dip and chips - wonderful cheese sauce and guacamole. We all had either pink or black dragon margaritas and wow! The drinks are strong and very tasty!! While in SF for a long weekend, we picked The Pink Adobe for my "official" birthday dinner location. We headed over about 30 mins before our 8:30 reservation to enjoy a drink in the Dragon Room, which was dark and cozy and had there been enough room for us to sit down would have been nothing short of romantic. No worries though, we were only there for a bit. Our server (whose name I can't remember) was very sweet and friendly and gave us some great recommendations on the menu. We both started with salads, which were fine. I had the pan roasted halibut with potatoes and spinach in a yummy saffron sauce - it was all very tasty, but I'd have loved a bit more sauce, which was buried underneath everything else on the plate. Man friend had the grilled duck breast special, which was also good. The atmosphere was very nice and everyone dining in the room with us was gone halfway through our meal, so we sort of had the place to ourselves which was really nice. Other than that, everything was really good, but neither of us were blown away. But, I'd definitely give it another try next time I'm in town, as everyone I talked to seems to love it. read more

Ahhh yes....The Pink Adobe. We stopped her to grab a quick drink as a first stop on our way into town. The drinks are extremely pricey and good - I had some bright pink concoction (sp) and it was realy good, although not good enough for 12.00 per drink. We ordered the guacamole, cheese and salsa platter. It tasted like Pace Picante Salsa, Tostitos queso and the Guacamole tasted like it was from Sam's club. I'm pretty sure it wasn't even real avocados. Also, I'm pretty sure it was Take Your Grandma to Pink Adobe Day. BUT, they did have a bowl of green chile with pork and potatoes and it was divine!! SO good! I was definitley impressed with that! if you want a grab a romantic, quick expensive drink, definitley go to the Pink Adobe. If you're looking for something more authentic, I would go elsewhere. read more
