We had a late reservation and were running late so callled and they were great and fine with us being a little late. When we arrived, we were greeted by the manager, who was so very nice and attentive. The patio is gorgeous. All twinkling lights and umbrellas. We started with the chip trio which was so good. I ended up having the shrimp, basically an open faced taco. We also had a plate of enchiladas. I asked the manager to recommend a wine for me and the one he chose was exquisite and I thoroughly enjoyed it. Our waitress was Roxanna she was attentive and knowledgeable. I would have given 5 stars but they put a server on his first solo shift with apparently wry little training. He didn't know the menu or drinks well and an elderly couple that came in just after us were all but ignored. we finally stepped in as the manager passed by and let him know they had been sitting for a very long time with only waters. the manager took care of them immediately. They also had some staff out sick so they were short handed. we know this sometimes happens and the hostess did say hey we are better than what you all experienced tonight. my food was amazing as was my husbands. he got a different drink than he ordered as did I but we did not send them back. we were so impressed by the amazing food and atmosphere that we would definitely go back and try again! we were impressed with the managers fast response after finding out that the servers section was kind of falling apart but I do feel it was his responsibility not to overwhelm the new server with that much responsibility when he clearly wasn't ready. please go to this restaurant though! i'm sure this was an isolated incident and again- best food we had the entire trip! read more

Hands down the best "Christmas" enchiladas I've had on this vacation were from this spot . Also featured is the artichoke appetizer, French onion soup, chocolate ice cream cake, & pear confit. Local artists exhibit their artwork on the walls for purchase of the 400 year old adobe building. This place runs circles around the over-hyped Shed restaurant. We returned to the Pink Adobe after first visiting many years ago. This was a special trip- we were on a long road trip after burying our mother back east. She took us to the Pink Adobe all those years ago when it was an up and coming restaurant. We loved it. She bought their cookbook. I found it amongst her things and was carrying it back with me to Montana. I can't speak to the quality of the food because we never got in the front door. We called for a reservation but got an answering machine. So we walked there. We waited for some time outside until the hostess appeared. We asked for a table for two. She asked if we have a reservation. We said no but before we could explain why she BARKED "well you should have made a reservation." I asked to make one. She said with frustration dripping from her words that there wasn't one available and turned away. Now I am sure there wasn't a table available but that is not the point. Her demeanor was remarkably void of empathy and lacking any sense of customer service. I remarked to my sister that the reviews of rude staff we noticed on YELP seemed to pan out. So I can't speak to the food- others reviews were mixed - but they lost our business and we are at Marie's New Mexican Kitchen which I highly recommend. I really wanted to like the place, it had lovely architecture, came highly rate by the owner of the B&B we stayed at, who said that it was like "mom's cooking". The staff seemed friendly too However, it really didn't live up to the expectations. The red mole pork tenderloin was nice (not as good as my own) but skimpy with just about three smallish slices of meat, nice sauce and just a few very small roasted mini vegetables. My wife had the shrimp huarache which was barely passable, though the shrimp was good. The service was friendly and attentive, but left details undone, like not providing my wife with flatware, removing plates before we were done, and not removing plates that were long finished. Perhaps the hope of "mom's cooking" was too much when it was really trying to be more like nouveau cuisine. I doubt any good New Mexican mom would be that stingy with the portions. read more

The atmosphere was charming, it seemed cleaner than previous visits. The server was indifferent, and rushed. The hostesses were very welcoming and warm. The Caesar dressing was devoid of lemon, garlic or anchovy flavor, disappointing. The Bordelaise sauce on the beef filet was sugary, with no hint of red wine flavor--very odd. THE WORST EXPERIENCE I HAVE EVER HAD DINING IN OVER 40 YEARS. THE PLACE SHOULD BE SHUT DOWN. We arrived and the server, a woman, was rude from the beginning. We had to request a new server and she was super sweet. We ordered the trio appetizer of guacamole, salsa and queso and all three were terrible. We didn't even begin to finish them because they were so bad. We also had the clams luciser and they were disgusting. We ordered our dinner at the same time we ordered the appetizers and after 45 minutes after we finished our appetizers we asked our first server who walked by our table if she could ask our current server to check on our dinners. She abruptly said " ask her, not me". We waited over 15 minutes and never saw our server again. I then approached the "supposed" manager who was this short streak bleached Mexican girl. When I asked her about our meals she said that since we didn't like the service they were taking longer. I told her we are going to leave. She said in a very loud voice, I'm calling the cops if you don't pay. I told her we had no intention of not paying and I proceeded into the bar to pay the cashier. She and our former server blocked the front door so my wife and 10 year old daughter could not leave the restaurant because she told them she would not allow them to leave until I paid despite the fact that I was paying. We are having the State of New Mexico Attorney General look into "unlawful detainment" criminal charges against the manager. We did ask two of our private tour guides later in the week and they both are native Santa Feans and they both said Pink Adobe has gone downhill dramatically to the point they will probably go out of business. read more

The most redeeming part of my experience was the delicious blue corn bread and the rack of lamb. Other than that, I was quite disappointed with the New Mexican style food. Along with the rack of lamb, we ordered shrimp Chile rellenos that were served like a pile of chili stew mush with a side of undercooked rice. I expected much more for the price and I really wish I enjoyed The Pink Adobe more. We will not be returning. read more

I took them there for their 60th anniversary yesterday. I hadn't been in a while. Sad to say it was an unpleasant experience. From the moment we arrived we were ignored. There were plenty of servers taking care of the other tables. I finally got up and asked somebody to get a server and get us some drinks. They acted put out And almost belligerent. The rest of the dinner consisted of rude servers and poor service. I will say that the food was good. They have been consistent with that but I will not return based on how they handled the special occasion for my parents. I even told them ahead of time that this was their 60th anniversary. Our drinks never came and when the food came, it was cold. We waited another 10 minutes to try and tell the waiter that the food was cold, but when he never came, I finally got up and found the manager and told him how horrible the service was and that we would be leaving. The food was good but the service was below standard. The only waitstaff person who did not bump my chair Every Single Time was the awesome busboy. Everyone else bumped into my chair constantly and consistently. The people at the table behind me got up a lot and never once did they bump my chair. When an item was missing off a plate (it happens) the waiter immediately said "it doesn't come with it" when it actually does and all the other plates had that item. Barely an apology. Just sub sub par waitstaff (the hostess was great too). If you want good food and good respectful service this is not the place for you. read more

I should have listened to my friend Mike W. This place was totally 3 star, but it came with such glowing recommendations. We made a reservation here and unlike other places, had no problem getting a reservation. We showed up, on time, for our reservation after walking their in a light rain. I was disappointed when they sat us in the front room in the corner in main traffic flow. It was like being seated in the lobby. My husband's chair got hit every time people walked through the door to the main dining room. Our waiter was pleasant and attentive. I had the crab cakes appetizer as my meal and I enjoyed it. My husband thought his pork was very so-so and not something he would get again. We shared the chocolate mousse which was pretty good. I don't think the price of the food is commensurate with the quality of the food. Next time we're in Santa Fe, we'll be skipping this place. So, so very disappointed! When making reservations, I informed the restaurant that this was our 58th anniversary and that we had eaten there on our wedding night in 1966. I asked for a special table. Never received an acknowledgement of our special day. Squished into a two-top in the middle of restaurant where servers had to pass by on all four sides of us in a very restricted space this was awful. Yelp says "take out or delivery" that's a lie, the delivery part . So we walk there and arrive at 9:15pm. I walk up where it says "please wear your mask until seated" so I go up and say, "we are here for dinner, do you have a table available?" To which she says "we are closed" as I look around to people eating, the sign says open and food is cooking. I then say "yelp says" and she says "the bar is open, no food" and walks away. Trying to get a Thursday table for four people with 2 dogs. No live person answers, finally got recorder n left msg. Got return call at 5:00 for my 6;30 request. They moved us to 7. Patio is awesome, bar was hopping, it's a little hot. Waitress was prompt with menus and water, took our drink order right away. Drinks were a little slow, appetizers came out with reason but mains were about 50 mins. Table for 2 next to us was seated, fed and left while we waited. My lamb was great, 2 racks of 4 bones each, jalapeño jelly set it off. Wife enjoyed her Clams Lucifer, dad thought the tournedos were a little tough. A must visit for my elderly parents whenever we are in Santa Fe, for the lobster salad and apple pie. For me, this place needs some oomph and love all the way around: a paint job, some updated menu items along with the classics, and some retraining of wait staff, who were a bit too efficient; especially with the water filling and dish clearing. The prices also need to come back down out of the stratosphere. I had lobster salad and it was good; not great. A solid 3, which is not enough with ample (and better) competition in town. I hope the new ownership (Inn of the Five Graces next door) helps bring this diamond in the rough back into the 21st century. read more

We had friends visiting from out of town and took them to the dragon room for a drink and then dinner. The martinis were the best part. We ordered baked artichoke as an appetizer for the table. It arrived cold . A couple ordered Caesar salad which arrived smothered in chopped tomatoes. We asked if this as correct. Our sweet waitress said that was the Caesar. Hmm She asked if we wanted to switch to the pink Adobe salad instead. Which we said yes. It was the same thing only with goat cheese which was better. The French onion soups arrived. 3 people ordered these. It was so sweet and sugary they could not eat the liquid baklava. She promptly brought our bill with the food items removed. And not at our request. She was so sweet and obviously use to covering for the kitchen. Wish you guys the best. I usually ever don't post negative reviews. The building is a huge investment. I dined here with a group of 4 on Sunday evening. The hostess was able to move our reservation around without a problem. We arrived at about 8pm and were seated next to the fire which was lovely. The service was attentive and the food was very good. The bread they served was warm and unique - never had olive bread before. I had the french onion soup which was rich and delicious. It didn't have the thick layer of melted cheese that classic french onion soup does, but I didn't think that detracted from it at all. I also had the seafood enchiladas, which I thought were tasty. There were a few fragments of shrimp shell that were mildly annoying, but I really enjoyed the plate, particularly the sauce over the top. Maybe it helped that we were there late in the evening, but it was quiet and warm by the fire, and I thought the good wine and good food perfectly wrapped up a cold day of traveling. Is the food good? Pretty good, Yes. So why only three stars? Be warned, it is NOT cheap. You're paying to eat at the Pink Adobe. For example: without anything to drink but water, two entrees and tip cost $82.50. One plate was enchiladas for $27.00 and the other was the Shrimp Louisiane for $35.00. The enchiladas were "average". The shrimp were "good" but the vegetables and side were just average. I've traveled and had many a $35 entree. I'm being fair. Service? The waitress, when asked if she would split the bill between the two couples at the table, just flatly replied "We don't split bills." No apology. Nothing else. Someone else brought us our food. Someone else filled our water glasses. She checked back later with a "You guys doing okay?" So the service wasn't commensurate with the setting and the price of the food. It just wasn't. We had much better service at the brewery we had visited earlier. MUCH. But that is a different discussion. So I'd say overall it's tasty. I had dinner here just recently. Boy, it was not the same as when I had been there before. Why did you do to the entry way? There is no room for guests to wait to be seated. When I went to the Pink before, the steak was twice the size and there was a mountain of green chili and mushrooms on top of the steak, which was delicious. There were sides, clearly and with good portions on the plate. This time, after a bit of a wait to even put our order in, the steak was half the size and there was 1/4 of the mushrooms and green chili on top. I asked for my steak to be medium after talking with my server about not wanting rare or red, but pink, and talking over how steaks are cooked at the Pink. What I got was red, and raw. It looked like the cook put the steak on the heat, flipped it, and then put it only plate all in one minute. It didn't even have time to release any blood yet as it was that raw inside... Gross! So I had to send it back to get pink, and when it came back NONE of the chili and mushrooms were on top of the steak anymore. What the heck??? Since I had waited so long for just my steak, I gave up on the green chilis and mushrooms and just ate my steak. Sadly, I could barely tell there was a vegetable, though it mentioned one in the menu. There's were maybe two bites of vegetable. And the potato, don't get me started on the potato. What kind of dead, bland potato was that??? Hard on the outside and bland on the inside. Oh Pink Adobe, you used to be my favorite place in Sante Fe, and now I wouldn't even recommend you. Why, when you used to be sooo good? I should have taken the approx. $150 it cost me to get dinner for two and just thrown it down the drain. And then I thought it was over. But noooo, I got a message from the company that I made my reservation with the next day and they asked why I hadn't kept my reservation. Oh, you mean the Pink Adobe didn't even realize I HAD been there, even though I clearly said to the hostess twice when I arrived that I had a reservation (and gave my name)?
