The pizza press is another made to order pizza place. The decor of the restaurant is a modern take on the roaring twenties. The theme of the restaurant is a printing press with signature pizzas being named after major newspaper publications: The Chronicle, The Sun, The Gazette, The Herald, the Times, and the Tribune. They even have an option for a kids meal. There is seating inside as well as some seating outdoors. Ordering in an assembly line manner, I went with "The Herald" which consisted of a white sauce base, mozzarella cheese, grilled chicken breast, ricotta cheese, grape tomatoes, red onions, and crimini mushrooms. I then added some sun dried tomatoes and pineapple to the mix, followed by some fresh basil as a finishing. The thin crust pizza tasted great and was cooked to perfection. All the ingredients really stood out, especially the sun dried tomatoes. The crust wasn't soggy like some of the other places. I could barely finish my pizza because it had so many quality-great-tasting ingredients that filled me up. The ricotta and mozzarella cheeses were great together. A pizza pie is extremely reasonably priced at $8.25 and Chapman University students get a 10% discount with ID. Cookies, ice cream (floats, sandwiches, and scoops), and tiramisu are available for dessert! I saw that they had recently opened, so I dragged the guys here for a lunch. Thankfully, we got here before the crush because the line got pretty long pretty fast. You pay when the pizza comes out of the oven, so that keeps staff down, but also slows the process. As for the food, it is an assembly line individual pizza. There are set menu choices, but I expect most people are going to go custom, where you walk down the line choosing for this ingredient or that one... Subway did it nationwide first (probably), Chipotle brought it to the dine-in "better fast food" crowd, and there are a number of other pizza places doing something similar. The Pizza Press's options are good and the prices are reasonable. The crust is nice here, which is important, and there are plenty of options for toppings. They should add a vegan cheese substitute (not for me, but for friends), but otherwise I have nothing to complain about. A 10" pizza and a beer was about $15. Really nice spot for made to order fresh pizza! I was really excited to have pizza press so close to home I couldn't wait for it to open at the circle. The place is very spacious and nice for big groups. They have a small fridge with some bottled beers but no prices on them. They did just opened so maybe they will fix that soon. But they do have a huge beer selection on tap, I think I saw over 30 different craft beers to chose from which was really impressive. You start at the press station where your dough is gently pressed by their memorizing machine. I went with a specialty pizza (The chronicle), I want to try their creations first before I become a regular and start creating my own pizza which is an option. If you choose to create your own you simply follow your pizza down the toppings lane as they build it for you. Once its complete they simply pop it in the oven/conveyor belt. The chronicle had a little bit of every veggie you can think of to put on a pizza, mushrooms, roasted cherry tomatoes, olives, but no meat. The ingredients were very fresh and tasty. The pizza was perfect, it was chewy and crunchy at the same time, the dough was cooked perfectly and it was very light. The cheese was nice an stringy which I'm a big fan of and it was a good size for a personal pizza. The whole experience was complete with a couple of their delicious craft beers. in this strange COVID Dining time, I've only gotten pizza here twice. Once was "dine-out" in their tables and outdoor patio area that the City of Orange has also graciously blocked off the entire street for dining... and once after as a takeout order. Pizza Press never fails me, the quality of ingredients are always on point. The staff are friendly and attentive. Beers available on tap (and to-go too). My only gripe is truly COVID-safety related, and it has nothing to do with what the staff here can possibly control, but they could do a better job at enforcing - 6ft distance between customers, outdoor dining areas are wayy too close together (which is why the 2nd time I checked in here, we took our food to-go, because my anxiety couldn't deal with so many people sitting so close together, even though we're outside - in addition to the whole city of Orange and Orange Circle posting masks required, there were far too many entitled Orange Countians that didn't have their masks on (and I'm only calling a spade a spade here, it's the white and blonde people that have a tendency to do this). Went here on the recommendation of a friend and would definitely return! The theme of the restaurant is adorable, with areas for "publishing" your pizza and other newspaper terminology to describe the pizza making process. You can customize your own pizza or order a standard, which are all creative topping combinations named off of famous newspapers. The food workers wear adorable newsboy caps instead of hair nets which is both practical and again ties into the theme of this pizza place. We came on a double date and were surprised by the line and how crowded it already was despite arriving before the time that it's normally trendy to eat. Every table was taken and we were just about to resign ourselves to sit outside when one table for four opened and we were able to sit inside. Every 15 minutes it seemed like a new wave of people came to order pizzas and the restaurant would be slammed. Crazy good business! We got a pizza that had goat cheese, roasted garlic, green onions, and artichoke hearts among other goodness. We ordered it with the gluten free crust and were happy with the taste and texture! One of my friends got jalapenos on her pizza and commented that less jalapeno would have been better as they seemed to be vinegar brined and were strong enough to warrant fewer on the pizza... she ended up having to pick some off just to be able to taste the other flavors without the jalapenos overpowering them. One of my friends got garlic on his pizza and said there was too much garlic but other than that he liked it. The one complaint I have is that I'm allergic to red onions, so we specifically said NO red onion... Guy tossed on a bunch and then when I reminded him NO red onion, he took some off and left some on the pizza. My boyfriend tried to pick them out for me but I still got a stomachache because we missed some that were underneath cheese. I would remove a star for this but it's more of an issue with that employee, not the restaurant. This is my favorite spot of the "make your own" pizza spots! I love the roasted whole garlic cloves and the different sauces. And i really like the pizza crust. The others sometimes seem limpy, where Pizza Press's crust is a nice thickness and texture - its not too thin and limpy. My favorite combination is to make half spicy with chicken & bacon then the other half a regular sausage & pepperoni. I've tried all 3 pizza spots - Pieology, Blaze & Pizza Press - and Pizza Press is my fave! Oh, and don't forget to ask for some pesto sauce on the side! YUM!! Just fyi...if you can't find a parking spot on Glassell or Chapman, you check out the the free parking in back. And there's an entrance in the back too, so you don't need to walk around to the front. Fresh Customized Pizza! What's there not to love?? The concept is cool. The layout and color scheme is nice. I love that retro feel. They also serve BEER! They're also open late! I liked how you get to put anything you want on your pizza or chose from their menu of their specials. The only thing I didn't like was that the topping bar didn't have any labels at all. I mean the obvious ones and then there are some that aren't so obvious. I went in the evening so it wasn't too packed and loud but when it's during rush hour I'm sure it's hard to hear the workers when you have a question about a topping. Wandered into this pizza place after trying to find what's open late at night... Stumbled upon this place at around midnight and so glad I did! The pizzas are big enough for two people to share or if you're really hungry, you could probably finish the whole pizza yourself. The concept of building your own pizza has always interested me, but I'm not the biggest pizza fan out there, so I have yet to try out the concept. I love the thin crust allowing you to enjoy more of the toppings and not being too bready. I opted for the Alfredo sauce and was a little worried but it was even better than marinara sauce. I have never made a yelp review before but after tonight I needed too. I've gone to this location multiple times but I've got to say the service tonight was amazing! Syd gave us a huge welcome as soon as we entered the restaurant. She also gave us an experience I've never seen here before. She suggested different pizzas and when we were a bit indecisive she told us to get the publish your own and walked us through the whole process and telling jokes the whole time through. Made us feel comfortable and not like an ordinary guest buying pizza but friendly like we've known each other for a long time. She even took the time to ring our order and suggest a couple beers. Stopped by The Pizza Press on our last trip to Disneyland based on reviews from friends (and their constant check in's raving about it) We went and we weren't disappointed. We've always enjoyed the pizza, for years. It just tastes good. But lately the service, workers and sanitation are... depressing. The kids working there are extremely sloppy and act like they definitely do not want to be there. Disrespectful, like everything they're doing is a major inconvenience for them at their own job.
