In the past, I always asked my friends and family to help me move. My father always told me that professional movers charge a $1,000 minimum and destroy your stuff. HE WAS TOTALLY WRONG! Now, at 42 years old, I decided to hire movers, although I was prepared to be ripped off. Thanks to these guys, that did not happen! I paid less than 25% of what my father told me was normal. They arrived EARLY and were finished 4 minutes after my originally quoted start time. This DESPITE the fact they helped to pack several items that were not ready. This moving company is amazing! 1000 times better than my last move! The last time I paid more attention to $ per hour. Even though the Professionals were more than anyone else I was looking at, they have 4 guys instead of the usual 3. That extra person makes the move go by so much faster and so you end up paying for less hours for the move! The guys (all of them) were super professional and so nice! They use dollies where they can so there's less wear on your things from being carried. I seriously want to give them 5 stars. -Called and emailed a confirmation -Showed up 15 minutes early -FAST AND EFFICIENT -Estimate was extremely close, only cost $10 more because they used shrink wrap for mattress My only real complaint is that I really, REALLY wish they would pro-rate the amount if it's less than the estimated time. In other words, that there wasn'tt a 2.5 hour minimum. The guys were done with an hour to spare. I would definitely recommend them for anyone who has a big(ger) move and will utilize them for more time. And really, I recommend them in general for being a company with a good reputation. I contacted this company for a quote based on the Yelp reviews, and their prices were actually cheaper than any other company I called. WIN! They showed up about 1.5 hours early (I was scheduled for an afternoon move), which was wonderful, except I was around the corner, not at home. Oops! No worries; the guy was very courteous and patient, and I hustled back home as quickly as possible. The move was effected in record time. The free wardrobe boxes were super handy, since I'd run out with half a closet left to pack! Once we'd gotten over to my new place, the guys asked me where each box should go before putting it down -- which has made unpacking MUCH easier. I guess my satisfaction is most amply evidenced by the size of the tip I gave them, because I don't have cash to be throwing around like that. But they really did deserve every cent -- to move my stuff from a three-story walkup to another three-story walkup in such a short time could not have been easy. Based on reviews and recommendations we went with this company for our move today and can not say enough great things! A crew of 4 people came and were incredibly quick and efficient. We ended up having more boxes than we thought we were going to with our original estimate, which was our fault. They communicated very clearly before they started that we could possibly go over the estimate so there were no surprises. They were so fast that we actually ended up paying LESS than our estimate. Moving during covid is stressful, but everyone was properly wearing masks the entire time. They really went above and beyond helping us carry boxes up from our basement storage we forgot about and a large cabinet we had ordered and was delivered to our new apartment the day before. read more

My boyfriend and I used these guys over the weekend and were both impressed. They were available early and finished right around the estimated time. There was very limited damage to any of our items (a few small nicks) and they managed to avoid hitting any of our walls despite navigating large furniture down a narrow hallway with a turn in it. They were fast, efficient, and good about placing items in the correct rooms. The only negative is they really get you on extras - i.e. tape, plastic wrap, etc. We'd bought our own tape and plastic wrap but they used $90 worth of theirs instead. Regardless, we would both highly recommend them to a friend because of how well they took care of us. One oddity of note -- they are cash only. read more

From the time I received my quote to completing the move I had an amazing experience. To request a quote you jump on their website and fill out a form. From the information you provide they send you an electronic quote for you to review. What does this mean... no talking to pushy salespeople (not that they would be at The Professionals, but this gives you time to think about it). Accepting the quote is also done electronically which means you don't have to seek out a fax machine or scanner. As with any good business, they called to confirm details on my move two days prior. They also sent a follow-up email, which was great for me because my service is limited at work. They showed up EARLY!!!! My appointment was between 8 and 8:30am. The truck arrived shortly after 7:30. When I told them I had some cleaning up to do they were incredibly patient and understanding. I brought down some miscellaneous items to transport in my car and one of the guys came over and helped me load them into my car! There are no hidden fees. Seriously. They lay out any extra charges you may incur in the agreement (shrink wrapping). They let you use 10 wardrobe boxes for FREE! If you provide your own shrink wrap, they will do it for FREE. They were fast and efficient. I didn't have a ton of stuff for them to move but they had all my stuff packed into the truck, transported, and unloaded in under 2 1/2 hours (the minimum). The lead mover even offered to help me bring in the stuff I had in my car since I had some time remaining. Awesome experience, I will definitely use them for future relocations. One downside - they only accept cash or cashiers check. read more

I have made moving my business in Chicago. I've lived here 5 years and have moved 4 of them. I will tell you, this company was AWESOME from beginning to end. I called and talked with wonderfully friendly office staff who made sure everything was in order and gave me a confirmation call the business day before to just make sure everything was right. On the day of the move, 3 very nice guys showed up with the wonders of all moving: a thing they call "wardrobe boxes." These were a miracle. The move out wasn't hard--that was one floor. The move in to the new place was up 3 flights and, let me tell ya, they *hauled*. The entire move took just about 3 hours (but for a pretty packed 1 bedroom, I thought that was amazing) and they never rested! At one point I wanted to ask them to slow down. The actual total came in under the estimate and I couldn't have asked for a smoother experience. Nothing broken, no "victims" of the move. It was just great. Little tip: They don't take personal check...so cash or money order only. And I'd suggest tipping in cash if you can to ensure that your movers see the money they will always deserve. I couldn't more highly recommend this group (although I hope not to see them for awhile). read more

I cannot say enough praise for these movers! When I set up the appointment, they were nice and knowledgeable, etc. but it was the crew that was utterly amazing. First of all, I had 70 boxes, some small, some not small, but 70 and a crap ton of furniture. The crew was ON TIME, exactly. They wrapped all of the delicate stuff to perfection. I lived on the second floor of a walk up and was moving to the third floor. The stairs are seriously treacherous and wind me after 2 trips. One of the movers carried up a dresser on his back, with all the drawers in it. (I have to take out the drawers to slide it across the room, and can't even imagine how much it weighs). I also had a sofa bed... Lastly, I tried to tip ahead of time, because I thought that perhaps this would help to motivate them and you hear horror stories about crews demanding tips. They would not take the money! They said to wait until after the service to ensure I was completely satisfied. I would totally recommend them again and think they are fabulous amazing people. read more

I tried calling another company, but they were booked solid and could not help me. So I asked them who they would recommend, and they said -- without hesitation -- The Professionals. I am glad they did. My time slot was originally supposed to be at 4:30, but the woman from the office called in the morning and asked if I wanted it moved up to 11:30-12:30. I said sure, why not? Well they called at 10:45 saying they were a few minutes away. Ahhh! So they started as soon as they got off the truck at 11 am, as I was furiously packing the final 4-5 boxes while they lugged everything out. They wrapped up everything professionally, moved heavy items quickly and safely and were very courteous. The one guy even apologized for having to use my bathroom. I was like, "Dude, I don't live here anymore!" The only tiny problem was that I underestimated how long it would take them -- my fault, not theirs -- and had to shortchange them a little on the tip. So I gave them each a bottle of Jim Beam to make up for it. Only one really spoke English, but he and I conversed, and they put everything where I asked and did a bang-up job. WOW!!!!! I've never personally hired movers to do my moving prior to this and I'm 32. But my family has in the past and I just remember the experience to be...eh, not so great. and I've heard such horror stories about how some of them just don't deliver on their promises, so I was very anxious. BUT, the Professionals definitely have changed my mind about movers. The estimator worked with me every step of the way answering my odd questions and delivered an estimate accurate to a dollar amount, which I haven't heard of. And she checked on me till the very last day before the move. The crew of 3 guys arrived an hour earlier than scheduled and asked if I were ready to move, if yes, then we can start earlier. They arrived at 8 am on Sunday morning and loaded, drove to my new place (~20 miles), unloaded and were gone by 9:40 am. They even set up my living room and dining room. This move was simply pain-free and worth every penny I spent. They were right around the estimate that they quoted me which included shrink-wrapping of several things. They navigated through my small condo walls that seemed way too tight to get a desk out but seriously they were amazing. Super friendly and extremely efficient. After a failed attempt using the Dolly App to move our bed and dressers to our new apartment, I had to find new movers who could accommodate last minute. I called The Professionals and booked and confirmed a next day appointment all within twenty minutes. This was my first time using a moving company and after the Dolly experience I was extremely nervous. Every aspect from start to finish proved to me why they call themselves The Professionals. I received a call about an hour before the scheduled move stating they'd be arriving soon. They arrived 40 minutes early and had everything packaged and moved to our new place within the hour. They were straight to the point, had everything wrapped and in and out of the doors and up and down three flights of stairs at both apartments in no time at all. I was asked where everything should go, if I wanted anything adjusted, or plastic removed. I have pet rats and two of the movers were so shocked to see them. They asked to pet them and I thought that was awesome and totally unexpected. There were no complaints about the stairs or the weight of the items. They arrived on time to begin the 2.5 hours allotted for the move, and finished an hour early, smiling all the while. The furniture arrived without incident, save for a scary moment where we weren't sure if the couch would fit through our front door. We came in under the previously established estimate and spent about $400 (with tip.) Money well spent, I think. Moving is hell. We all know that. I used them over a year ago and am now writing a review so you know that i am compelled to write this. They ruined my new sofa by nixing the corners when they were trying to put it in the elevator and the movers told me it was there. I know it wasn't. I warned them about the corners of my bookshelves and the eaves of it fell apart after they moved it. They didn't put my son's bed back together right because to this day, his computer key board still falls (he has a bed on the top, desk on the bottom) off the side rails. Absolutely amazing! I will never move myself again! My husband and I are most likely moving out of state soon, and since our lease was up, we needed to move our lives into a storage unit while we temporarily stay with a friend. Professionals to the rescue! We had originally been quoted a price that was only for our furniture - we planned to move all our boxes prior to their arrival - (i don't know what we were thinking) - and ended up moving absolutely nothing on our own. We came in well under the quoted price despite the fact that they moved at least twice as much as they had planned. We had a 3 man crew and they delicately wrapped and packed all of our furniture and moved EVERYTHING out of our place faster than I could have dreamed of. Literally, it would have taken us all day if we had done it ourselves - these guys must spend all their spare time lifting weights. After packing the truck up, we followed them to our storage unit where the proceeded to pack our belongings in as if they were playing a game of tetris. Absolutely incredible. They were fast and friendly and the few times I attempted to make anything easier for them they told me to sit back and relax while they did the work. All in all, a great experience. After calling 8 different moving companies for a late summer move and all of them being booked, I was scared I wouldn't be able to find any! Luckily The Professionals were available albeit on a Friday night and I knew they had great reviews on Yelp. The movers arrived a a bit early since their earlier move was quick. Althoguh I didn't think we had too much stuff, I guess living in an apartment for 5 years and accumulating many things in addition to wedding gifts over the years adds up to a big move! Yet, I had underestimated our stuff when I booked the move. Two hours into the move, the movers called for another truck and mover to help and said the cost would increase a bit due to the 4th mover. Fine by me! These guys were great at picking up all of our large furniture and getting it into all the right spots in our new place. There were a few paintings and furniture pieces that I gave clear instructions to because I was worried about their safe transportation. They guys made sure to wrap these items very carefully. More so, besides a few scrapes along our walls, the movers were great. read more

I can't say enough good things about these movers. They were super duper professional. When they showed up they went over everything with me. They were very thorough with everything from breaking down my bed, shrink wrapping my mattresses, secured items I had packed myself, they even packed my clothes in a wardrobe box from their own supplies. The whole move took an hour start to finish. They are very careful with all your items I was referred to them by a friend and I just referred them to someone else. I've use this company twice in 3 months and have had nothing but fantastic service. Punctual, rates were better than 5 other moving companies called and they have a storage unit on site if needed. The dispatcher is super friendly and was helpful in organizing my moves. I was able to coordinate a 4 house move that only took 3 hours. They work based off an hourly rate but in absolutely NO WAY do they try to stretch that time out. I don't usually do reviews but they truly deserve one. read more

Update - moved back to the city from the suburbs! Very professional experience like last time, only would note that it took nearly an hour longer this time around (due to 3 flights of stairs at my new apartment) and also ended up costing nearly $200 more than last time! The bill was $50 under budget (estimate was $700), but for some reason the budget was also much higher this time... something about a truck fee that must have been overlooked last time. Also, I felt that the crew this time wasn't as expedient as last September, but to be fair it was a very hot day outside. The guys arrived 30 minutes before the appointment time, they were very polite and they even picked up the pace when I mentioned my concerns. With living on my own again, might not be able to afford having these guys move my 1 bedroom furniture again - wonder if I can rent my own truck? That would have saved me $180! Just to have some strong arms to move the big stuff.... will look into next time. But overall, if you have the cash, pay these guys to get it done right and easy. They wrapped and padded my flat screen, mirror, and other new JC Penney furniture and offered to help assemble anything upon arrival (they are paid by the hour, now). I politely refused and also unloaded everything I could carry to keep things going on the clock. read more

I am moving from an apartment in Chicago to North Carolina and decided on a uhaul ubox because I didn't want to make the drive myself. Uhaul apparently isn't willing to do same day drop off and pick up of their ubox unless you hire their movers but I read too many negative reviews of the movers they contract with to be comfortable going that route. Almost none of them had yelp pages and those that did only had 1 or 2 star reviews. I went with the professionals after reading reviews on yelp and reddit after hearing horror stories about hiring movers through uhaul movinghelp.com. I had Jorge and his crew come and load my 1 bedroom apartment into their truck and took it to uhaul to load it into a ubox for my move to North Carolina and they were very fast and efficient. The professionals as a company were very easy to deal with when getting a quote and with day of communication. They even came 2 hours early after their morning appointments finished early. For billing, they were trustworthy with only charging me for the materials used and time spent and I am so glad I went this route over booking a more sketchy company through uhaul! read more
