I was at the Arizona State University West Valley Campus today when I saw the Waffle Love food…read moretruck on-campus. They were giving away three waffle options as a part of an event on-campus. The options were Strawberries & Cream, Biscoff & Cream, and Churro & Cream. I chose the Biscoff & Cream waffle. While I only had a bit of the cream, I absolutely loved the crispy and tasty waffle with the Biscoff butter spread on top. I was also impressed by how quickly the Waffle Love team prepared and gave out their waffles. While the event at ASU was listed as a private event, you can see where Waffle Love will be on any given day by visiting the calendar on their website: https://wafflelove.com/waffle-love-arizona#azcalendar. You can see which farmers markets and food truck events they will be. The menu for the food truck is online which includes 10 sweet Belgian waffles, 1 savory Belgian waffle (grilled cheese & bisque), and a build-your-own waffle with six topping options. Also on the website, you can sign up for their loyalty program to earn points with each purchase eventually earning you a discount or free food. By signing up for weekly e-mails, you can also join the birthday club to receive a digital coupon for a free Red Wonder (biscoff, raspberries, strawberries, whipped cream) on your birthday. Waffle Love also offers catering, merchandise, gift cards, and dough balls. While I only saw the food truck at a private event with three options, I can't wait to try it again soon with a larger number of options, perhaps the entire menu of sweet, savory, and build-your-own Belgian waffles!

However, it still took 25 minutes to complete my order. The waffles were thick and not sweetened. Hence it paired well with the sugary or savory toppings. Personally found the sweet creations to be overpriced for the size and quality of toppings. The savory sandwiches served to be more filling for the price. *Turkey Pesto: decent amount of turkey with a thin smear of pesto between two waffles. The waffles were on the softer side so this was a good take on the typical panini. This was a bit dry given the limited application of pesto. All the sandwich options were simple: protein and cheese. I would like to see Waffle Crush introduce more sauces or vegetables in their menu. Ultimately, food truck prices will be steep but I hope to see complexity and larger serving sizes here.

Finally, the baby back ribs were the star for me personally because you can actually taste the pork for its quality. I usually expect a super sweet sauce that bogs me down after with ribs, but these ones left me feeling able to still go on about my day which I love. They aren't shake off the bone tender but I liked the gentle chew they provide. I would have preferred to eat the shakshuka instead, and would try that next time. The Kahi & Kemer? I would order 100000 of these. I LOVED IT. It's basically a super soft bread that you dip in syrup and clotted cream. SO GOOD. It was basically a sugary breakfast, but really hit the spot. Next time, I'd order this dish again with a shakshuka and maybe one more item.
