Had brunch there today. Bloody Mary presented very nicely with olives and pepperocini. Just the right of heat. I could never understand the race over chicken and waffles. So today I decided to try their chicken and waffles sandwich. I'll still don't know what the excitement is about! The sandwich was done well. But not my idea of a good combination. To each his own! Ordered the pork belly Bahn mi and fish and chips. After waiting 20 minutes for beverages, it was an hour before we saw our food. The bahn mi was a flavorless overcooked paltry slice of pork belly thrown on a baguette with some flavorless mayo slaw. The fish was so overcooked that it was void of actual fish and all that remained was inedible batter that turned to dust when broken apart. We sent that back and waited an additional 20 minutes before we saw the "corrected" entre which still wasn't right. At this point we had to take the food to go and noted that we were still charged full price (and the prices are high) for such a disastrous meal. This may be the worst dining experience we've ever had. We will not ever return to this establishment. PS: the co-ed bathrooms were also a disaster. read more

This place is a hidden gem .... Right off the side of the road you can find this quant little place with great mixed cocktails, a wide variety of beer section and the food is next level. I would by far suggest this to anyone looking for a new place to go and try . read more

Made a brunch reservation for 8 of us(so they knew it was a large party). We arrived at 10 AM. their opening time. We were seated. The long and short of this is that it took 1 hour to get our food. Many people that arrived after us were served first. The waitress explained it was taking longer because we were a large party. I counted 3 tables of 2 people and 2 tables of 4 and one table of 6 all served before us. That's at least 20 orders coming out of the kitchen before our 8. Now, I'm not a genius in restaurant operations but it would seem that you do your meal prep in the order that you receive them. If you want to enjoy a good dinner, do NOT go during Happy Hour! The restaurant was pretty empty when we arrived but by the time we ordered there didn't seem to be an empty seat in the house. Happy Hour prices are great but the food was the worst and service was poor, also, it was very noisy. The french fries were both overcooked and soggy. How they do that? I have no idea. Been there for brunch, lunch and dinner a few times now and it's always very good. A cozy, country atmosphere, interesting new American menu, very good service and great preparation. Mimsy had the Bolognese pasta, I had the flank steak. The pasta is hand-made daily and the sauce was rich and flavorful. The flank steak was grilled just right and cut on the bias. I had a really enjoyable dinner at Railpenny Tavern. The restaurant is on the nicer side, but still kid friendly. They have a kids menu and the volume is on the louder side. I don't have any complaints about service except that our dinner plates should have been cleared well before they actually were. We shared the brussel sprouts appetizer to start. It was excellent. For dinner I had the farmer's burger with tavern fries. The fries were delicious, but really terrible for you. My burger was cooked exactly as I asked (medium). It was messy but very good. I'd seen this place hyped as upscale farm to table bar food. After eating there I have to ask, What "farm" to table??? My wife and I went for lunch. We were pretty early, only the second party seated that day. We ordered beers (they do have a decent beer list) and the cauliflower app. The beer was fine but like everything here, overpriced. The cauliflower was ok but there was a lot of oil in the bottom of the bowl. Not sure if the sauce was broken or if they just dressed it with oil. It was too much oil. My wife ordered the falafel pocket, which was terrible. Definitely not "upscale." The beans were obviously from a can - not fresh food. It was mushy and nasty - totally over seasoned - almost inedible. Further, it was served on a stale white burrito tortilla, which was odd. I ordered the grilled chicken sandwich. They brought out the fried chicken sandwich, which, in retrospect, I should have kept. So I got to watch my wife eat and complain about her food while they made me the right thing. They did bring me a second beer, which I though would be comped. It wasn't. Then my sandwich came out. It was obviously a frozen, probably previously cooked, chicken breast. Like what you'd get in a bag at the Market Basket from Tyson or Purdue. Not exactly the "farms" I'd envisioned eating from. It was dripping the broth they inject into those frozen breasts all over my plate. My wife was done eating at this point and had basically destroyed her meal to find anything edible. The fries were ok. Nice work, guys. The atmosphere is great. The servers are a little off - see other reviews for some real bad experiences. They just don't seem to care from top to bottom. They don't care about serving quality food. They don't care about fixing their screw ups. I guess they did care about making it look nice inside. And someone cared to radically inflate the prices in relation to the quality of food. I won't be back. So, so many restaurants now are using farm to table and listing which farms they source. Perhaps the farm to table was just an initial PR plow - it isn't on their menu, it isn't on their website, but for the prices, I expect far better. read more

Went here during the week and only about 4 other groups were there. Took an hour and a half to get food. Service was awful. They've got 4 different Mac and cheeses as if it's some sort of specialty of theirs. Was BY FAR the most max and cheese I've ever had. Kraft is better. Yikes. My boyfriend and I went to the Railpenny Tavern tonight for the first time, and basically paid $56 for two glasses of wine. We wanted to grab dinner before our 7:15 movie at O'Neil. We arrived at 5:45, and were seated by 6:00. At 6:10 we both ordered a burger and a glass of wine. So far so good. At 7pm we still didn't have our burgers and were pretty disappointed. We gave the waitress our credit card to pay and she put our food in "to go" boxes. We only had enough time to take a couple of bites in the parking lot before rushing into the theater, and what do you do with a cold, soggy burger and fries? You throw it away. So, I went here with a couple of friends to grab some drinks and food to catch up as it had been awhile since we've seen each other. While the atmosphere, price, and the food we're fine, I was dissatisfied with the service. It took close to fifteen minutes for us to get our drinks after ordering them. They did apologize and say the bar was backed up. Ok, fine - it was busy, so I wasn't going to make a stink about it. Then our food comes, and it tasted fine, except our waitress kept asking if she could clear my plate when I still had food on it and every time she came back there was less food, so I thought it was pretty obvious that I was still eating, but obviously not. Finally, once we were done, she asked if we wanted any dessert. We all politely declined, which is apparently the cue to start pushing us out the door. The next time she came back was with our check and to clear the rest of the table. Even though we were finished eating, we would have gladly ordered another drink or two as we were still socializing, but she never asked if we wanted anything else after dessert. Maybe there's a two beer limit we didn't know about? The food was good and I may be willing to give this place another try, but it'll be with skepticism. read more

We lIve the Railpenny Tavern for date nights. We have gone as a big group of 7 a couple of time but really rather the quaint atmosphere for just the hubby and I. Menu items are interesting and you'll find rather original types of food but if your willing to step out of your comfort zone you will definitely be pleasantly surprised at your selection! They have interesting, hearty macaroni and cheese combos and lovely daily deviled egg selections! Last time we tried a maple bacon deviled egg and were so impressed we placed a secondary order! The chicken wings here are not my favorite (if you're looking for wings you should TOTALLY check out Gordo's in Raymond) but all other menu items are delish! read more

Very nice experience both times we've been, once in mid September just me and my husband and recently with a large party. Service was quick and friendly and Food came out promptly. My only and I wouldn't say complaint was I got bacon Mac and cheese each time. 1st time it was very creamy and second time it was dry it also seemed to be less even though I ordered the same size each time. First impressions were good. Parking is plentiful, the hostess was pleasant and welcoming, our waitress was knowledgeable and attentive and the dining room was clean. The beer was cold and fresh. The positives end there. I ordered the Railpenny burger with fries and my dining partner had a simple Caesar salad. I ordered the burger medium well and it came to me well done and dry and the pork belly was tough. The pickled onion and aioli were the only saving grace. The fries were shoestring style and consisted of a pile of 1-2" pieces. I guess I got the bottom of the bag. The salad was a bowl of chopped salad with bland dressing and equally bland croutons. The $3 soft drinks were watered down (bar soda gun?) and basically a small glass filled with ice. Hint: if you're going to serve soft drinks like this, knock a few bucks off the price. The management seemed to go out of their way to avoid us. They were very amiable with the other diners but payed us no attention until we were on our way out. I usually will give a restaurant another chance but usually my first impressions are correct. I don't like throwing good money after bad so I may skip the revisit in this case. read more

We were there on a Sunday for an early dinner. Extremely long wait. We got our food significantly later than the table next to us which ordered well after us. My burger was extremely small and was ordered medium and the inside was raw. Not undercooked ..... raw. My daughter ordered pasta with no sauce, but, with butter/margarine. It came out with sauce. They replaced it promptly, but, even more of a wait. We think the delay was because of my wife ordering and appetizer, but, asking for everything to come out at once. Out server did not write anything down. I know there are some that can operate like this, and I'm impressed when they can ..... this one could not. This place is extremely loud and you are packed in very tightly making service difficult and obtrusive. There are too many good restaurants in this area for this one to be so poor. If you're looking for a true brunch experience go elsewhere. My husband and I just went on Sunday to give this place another go but we were sadly disappointed. There was no brunch menu just a dinner menu. When asked if they had a brunch menu the hostess/waitress said there wasn't. There was only one maybe two if you count the deviled egg appetizer as a breakfast item. My husband had to ask for the chicken and waffles breakfast sandwich which was the star of the afternoon. I ended up ordering the Cobb salad which was a small portion for $16 and to add chicken it was another $10. This place epitomizes shrinkflation! Staff was very attentive, great experience. Started with deviled Sriracha and lime eggs (3 halves for $5?) still delicious. Duck confit board app was amazing and tender. I had to have the the Parmesan truffle fries, not only delectable, but fun to enjoy with company. We had the grilled watermelon salad, and pan seared sea scallops. Sea scallops were prepared just to the perfect point, cream corn and fingerling pots were well complimentary. The watermelon salad had quite a bit of liquid on bottom of salad almost making it a soup, but still a very tasty salad. Limited menu, but maybe not for the area. This is a fairly new place. It was fun, and the food selection was a bit different. We like different. Appetizers had different things like veggies, even parsnips. They re-did the building inside from the place that used to be there and it was enjoyable and fun. We just had burgers, but they were great burgers. The drink selection is different and we liked what we had very much, interesting. I had a pumpkin cider that was quite good. We were given popcorn with our drinks that was chili powder spiced but not too spicy, very enjoyable. We will come back. read more

Our drinks (alcoholic) were phenomenal. The Brussels sprouts...OH. MY. GOODNESS. Get them right now. My boyfriend got the Dad's Mac and Cheese which has the most delicious cheese sauce and tons of bacon, needless to say it was perfect. My Farmer's Burger was hands down the best burger/meal I've had in a restaurant for as long as I can remember. Maybe the best burger I've ever had. The French fries were delicious, shoestring, hand-Cut, fried to perfect. Little tip, dipping the French fries in the cheese sauce from the Mac and cheese? Life changing. 5 out of 5. 10 out of 10. My husband and went to Railpenny last night, first impression was lovely. We sat at the bar I tried a martini of this universe, it was very good. The food we were extremely disappointed! My husband had the Bolognese which was very bland, I had the roasted chix with butternut squash risotto, again very bland and very wet no squash or-cheese flavor what's so ever. Also very small portions. We also started with the Tavern fries shoestring fries with cheese and malt vinegar tasty but came out cold, they were replaced and still came out cold? First off staff very confused because they where switching from brunch to lunch, did not know soup of the day . Not much to choose from the sandwich side other than burgers . Opt for the fried chicken sandwich was suppose to have red pepper jelly coleslaw and bbq sauce . Chicken was flavorless when I say a drop of bbq sauce probably the size of a dime pepper jelly very bland .
