I drive by here every day and it's always fairly crowded so I thought I'd get some takeout. Staff was really nice. Bar inside looked pretty slick, it was a nice looking bar with cool lighting and neatly featured liquors. I got the fried chicken sandwich cooked in hot sauce which came with a generous portion of tasty sweet potato fries. The piece of chicken was huge and juicy. It had bacon aioli on it, which I never tasted, and slaw, which should have been more plentiful compared to the size of the chicken. Heat on the sandwich was nice though! With a few tweaks it would've been amazing.

    Railpenny burger w/tater tots

A friend and I decided to get a casual lunch here on a Sunday noon. Luckily we entered right before a flash flood drenched the state. We received seating immediately; the establishment seemed half full. I ordered the Railpenny Burger ($17) with side of tater tots, which arrived w/in 10 minutes. The tots seemed straightforward - lots of potato, lots of being fried, lightly salted, not too heavy or greasy. The burger, consisting of pork belly, cheddar, pickled red onion, mixed greens, garlic aioli, was a solid, savory burger. Simply satisfying

What a hidden gem this place is! Epping, NH isn't exactly NYC or Boston fine dining but who cares. I'd compare the Railpenny to some popular restaurants in Portsmouth or Manchester that I've been to. They have a casual & comfortable dining area but I usually sit at the bar. The menu is well balanced for appetizers, soup/salads, burgers and entrees...the French Onion Burger is very tasty. Their cocktail drinks are awesome...I definitely enjoyed my Manhattan. They also have a good draft beer and wine selection. The bartenders are professional and friendly. Lastly the prices are quite reasonable. I give 4 Stars and highly recommend them for an enjoyable dining experience!

I'm gluten free (plus lots of other allergens) and they have a really fantastic gf fried chicken sandwich. Juicy. Fries are also in a dedicated fryer. Had great service too. My companions thought their food was "Ok, not amazing" but would try it again.

Made a pit stop here on the way back to the city and didn't know what to expect based on the reviews but wanted to give this place a try. Overall the experience was underwhelming. Got there toward the end of happy hour and got some beers. The deals were great. For food I ordered the American burger with hand cut fries and added bacon. My friend got the uncles Mac. The burger was cold (I heard someone behind me complain about their burger also being cold) a huge glob of Mayo at the bottom, and the bacon wasn't in full strips. It was in pieces and added to the burger which made me think it was just sitting in the kitchen. The Mac and cheese was over cooked and the chicken was in tiny pieces as if it were canned chicken in a sauce mixture. Honestly the best part of the meal were the fries...seriously the fries were the best thing there. We considered ordering more but glad we didn't. The service wasn't bad and there's plenty of parking.

So I really hate to write a review like this. To expose and reveal a true hidden gem that I selfishly want to keep secret but I have to! Railpenny Tavern in Epping was a culinary delight! From our greeting at the door and requested seating to our fabulous server, Ava, everything was beyond perfect. The drinks (Cosmo and Tucher beer) chicken pot pie, mussels (bacon and thyme), butternut fries and a perfect ending -- peppermint creme brulee were to die for!

I would like to come visit this restaurant, but do you have any vegan options?

I think so? They had quite the salad selection. There was also a veggie sandwich you could get without bread?

Cocktail Lovers, this must be the place!…read more Calling all cocktail lovers, make Exeter Apothecary your next place to visit. Located right above the beautiful Vino E Vivo restaurant (see prior review), it's the new HIT spot in Exeter. Only about 20 minutes or so from Portsmouth but a fun spot for cocktails, wine and dessert. Ambiance is chill with comfy bar seats, side tables and bartenders that can shake, sitr and whip up almost any cocktail to your liking. We did share their Amaro Flip which was fabulous. I know we will be back for sure since they offer small plates and decadent desserts too. Cheers~

Sitting above sister restaurant Vino e Vivo, chefs Nick and Paul bring elevated small and large plates to this casual setting. Cocktails were great, as you might expect. Head bartender Chris has a creative list of cocktails and I'm sure could mix up anything else you might desire. We tried several small and large plates. Really hard to call out a favorite as they were all good. The Parsnip soup was creamy, rich and delicious with several touches such as crisped rice and basil oil on top that really made this a standout. Beet tartare was great as well with rich delicious beet flavor and texture reminiscent of beef tartare. Don't miss the cornbread with pork belly butter! Service is warm and friendly and chef Nick ran many of the dishes to the tables and bar personally. You could see (and taste) the passion he has for food. Exeter has another gem with Exeter Apothecary !
