The service was lacking, to say the least, but they had one bartender and she was getting hit hard with drink tickets and with bar top service. I ordered a build your own burger and got bacon, green chili, and cheddar on it. My husband ordered the BBQ sampler plate and we split an order of their green chili queso. The chips and dip were pretty good--nothing super special about them. My husband enjoyed his BBQ plate but again, nothing really special. My burger was very tasty! I had asked for condiments, however, I never received them. But with the flavor of the burger, I ended up not missing them too much. So why the 2 stars?? Well, I got sick from eating there. This is a delicious and affordable place in Santa Fe. We came here for dinner during our stay at Ojo Caliente Santa Fe. The restaurant is more of a family style setting and is super popular with an average wait of an hour as the time gets past 5:00-5:30. We went on a Thursday night, walked in around 5:30 and were seated right away. By the time we left it was pretty crowded and the wait was an hour and a half. Prices are quite good, especially for Santa Fe. I got the flatiron steak which was absolutely delicious and husband got the red chile honey glazed baby back ribs. read more

My husband and I were trying to vary the foods we had while visiting Santa Fe and decided to get some BBQ to bring back to the hotel. The reason I rated them only a 3/5 star was due to the staff and the wait time. The staff I dealt with were pretty rude and the wait time for the family pack to go was 40 minutes despite being told it would be about 20-25 minutes. I got there and ordered a family pack which came with 2 meats, 2 sides and cornbread for $29. The girl also charged me extra for the mac and cheese and didn't even tell me, I only noticed once I got back to the car, which was a bit frustrating. What really upset me was that they gave me a hand buzzer to take to my car. They said you can drive up to the front and someone will bring it out or you can come inside when it buzzes. After 40 minutes ( I was told 20-25) my buzzer finally went off. I didn't even bother with the drive up line because it was already 3 people deep. I went inside to get it and left to go back to the hotel. They gave pretty good portions and the BBQ was pretty decent. Didn't love the mac and cheese, (my husband liked the potato salad), but the corn bread was really good! Overall we would come back. read more

My husband declared he wanted a steak for lunch, so I Yelped around my neighborhood. This place popped up on my screen and away we drove! Beautiful southwest decor and a lovely staff greet you upon entry. No waiting when we arrived, but that changed shortly thereafter. Whew, we were lucky! The menu features my three favorite food groups, barbecue, Mexican, and steak. What do I order? Hummm. Well, since my husband came for steak, I could convince him to taking the green chile/enchilada side option, while I order the platter that gives a generous portion of all the smoked meats (except chicken), and then I'd have access to all of my favorite three. That is, if he'd actually share a bite or two. My platter had sausage, ribs, brisket, pulled pork, and I chose cole slaw and potato salad as my sides. Cornbread came with as well. All were so well smoked and seasoned that bbq sauce was not necessary. The meats were juicy and the rib meat fell off the bone. Delicious. I tried their sauce and it was tangy and sweet, but not too sweet...just right. The steak was perfection. Seasoned and seared just how my husband likes it. He was a happy camper. The green chile had just the right amount of heat, so as not to take away from the steak flavors. My bargaining chip? The cornbread! My husband loves cornbread. In freely giving my whole square of cornbread, I managed to secure a bit of steak and enchilada for myself. Hehehe... l successfully had some of all three! read more

We sat at the bar to avoid the long wait line for a table. We received excellent service immediately, enjoyed some happy hour drink and appetizer specials, and had a delicious dinner. We experienced several bartenders and servers and everyone was gracious and polite. The bar was lively, but not loud to the point where we couldn't converse. Excellent food! The lean brisket is moist and delicious! The hot BBQ is very flavorful and has a nice kick of heat. The green Chile cornbread was delicious! I highly recommend the brisket platter (I forgot to take a picture of it) it comes with 2 sides: I chose the sweet potato fries and the calabacitas. I asked for a side of the red chile honey glaze and it went great with the brisket. The portions are large, so be prepared to have left overs. Decided on some BBQ while in Santa Fe. We made a good choice. The food was very good, loved the queso and chips as an appetizer. I had the BBQ chopped salad with smoked shrimp, very tasty. Service was a little awkward, but not a big deal. The ambiance is mostly generic. Prices were good for this area. I would go back here next time I am in Santa Fe. read more

Went for a nice dinner with my family on vacation. I had the BBQ salad w pulled pork. Great flavor and moisture. Didn't even need any sauce! Was really let down with my meal. Ordered the Smoked Prime Rib and although it was cooked the way I ordered, it had absolutely no flavor. And the Au Jus was even worse. Literally brown water! I had to put salt in the dip just to get some flavor for the meat. Didn't even finish, left half on my plate. The rest of my meal was fine. Loved the chicken wing appetizer... they were tremendous and my sides (baked potato and BBQ Beans were very good. My wife had the smoked chicken and it was okay, but a little on the dry side. Elegant yet casual setting located on Cerillos Rd. The food is incredible. We ordered the waffle fries with Queso and brisket. The brisket was smoky, juicy and not overly fatty. The green chile was flavorful with the slight hint of heat and reminiscent of a fresh autumn harvest. The queso was fresh melted cheese and not something poured from a can. Saw some high end expensive suggestions but we liked the look and menu for the Ranch House. So glad we chose it too. From the great cocktails (I had prickly pear mojito) to our meal, it was perfect. The house salad may sound normal but the homemade croutons are a tasty surprise. (Oh how I'd like to duplicate at home). Note to manager, maybe start selling those croutons!! We had coconut shrimp for an appetizer. The huge size of those shrimps was a surprise! I love that calabacitas are the veggie side with potato. Both top sirloin and prime rib cooked to perfection. Visiting from out of state and wanted to try something away from the tourist area. The drinks are great and the prices are good. The atmosphere is awesome in that it looks like the food would be more expensive. Now, the food. My wife had the steak and said it had great flavor but was grizzely. My neice also had a steak but liked hers. I'm from Texas and was hesitant to try the BBQ. The pulled pork and brisket looked fairly similar. They were both a little dry and didn't have enough smoke flavor for me. The ribs were outstanding, and the sausage was fairly good. My brother in law had the same thing and said it was OK. He is also from Texas so we are probably spoiled. He had the spinach which he said he couldn't put into words how good it was. The service was great and we appreciated that. Would I go back? Probably if I lived in Santa Fe, I believe in giving a restaurant a second chance. I would recommend it to people! read more

I am from South Carolina, and I think The Ranch House has amazing BBQ. Everything from the brisket to the sides were very flavorful.

We had just arrived in Santa Fe earlier in the afternoon and were looking for a restaurant near our hotel. The Ranch House came up on Yelp with good reviews but I'm not completely sure why. We Google-mapped it using my Apple Play in my car. My Siri has a British accent and so she kept saying "raunch" house and we laughed. However, she may have been on to something. When we arrived, there were people waiting to be seated. We went ahead and put our name on the wait list with the hostess who seemed put out or mad and she lacked any sort of welcoming qualities at all. While we waited, she called another party but then refused to seat them because their entire party wasn't there. She then called our name and we got up to follow her but she walked so fast that she basically left us in the dust and was not friendly at all. When we were seated at our table, the table was still wet from being wiped down so I had to use my napkin to dry it off; major pet peeve! The waitress we had was nice although her appearance wasn't necessarily professional and the staff wore t-shirts except for, who I think was the manager, who was wearing a polo shirt that looked to be his 10-year old brother's because it was too short and small and he had it buttoned up to his neck. For our drinks, my husband ordered the Pure Gold Margarita. It was too sweet and we ranked it up there with one of the worst margaritas we'd ever had. I had originally ordered the Old Smoky, but since I was going to have the salmon tacos, I caught the waitress and asked her if I could change my drink to the house chardonnay and she said, "sure, good thing I haven't put your order in yet." Be forewarned, the house chardonnay is more like Riesling as it is sweet. We ordered the chips and salsa as an appetizer. We ran out of chips and asked for more and that's just what we got, more chips; apparently you can't have more salsa. For dinner, my husband had the green chili brisket burrito. It was a cross between BBQ and Mexican. Neither of us liked the mish-mash of BBQ and Mexican combination at all, it was way too salty and he left more than half of it uneaten and we didn't take it with us. I got the Salmon tacos and the salmon tasted like it was canned salmon and they were way too sweet and salty. The best part of my dish was the calabacitas. I had to remind the waitress that I had ordered another glass of wine after another server dropped off our dinner. We were both disappointed with this place and when we got in the car, we both looked at each other and said, "Siri was right, this was the "Raunch House" and we laughed. This was not a good experience for us but I guess if you like a mish-mash of BBQ and other flavors, it might be your gig. Overall though, it seems like this place is trying to be trendy and upscale but it just missed the mark for us altogether. read more

The 2 meat platter was with juicy flavorful lean brisket and pulled pork, plus a plethora of choices of sides (I went with with the potato salad, beans, and side salad with in-house made croutons) Their cornbread was moist and delicious.
