This place used to be hopping but last night on a Friday it was dead as a door nail at 10:30 pm!! Valet parking lot empty and regular lots sadly empty. Inside maybe 15-20 people and the dancing was patrolled: example being; if you were not wearing a shoe with a strap they kick you off the floor. We paid the $20 cover and walked right on to the practically empty dance floor to dance. When not more than a couple minutes a security guard totally embarrassed us on the floor stating my girlfriend was wearing the wrong kind of shoes (which there is not a published dress code of what is acceptable footwear). We stare at him incredulously like "are you kidding"! We have been there countless times to dance and enjoy the music and this never happened to us before. The guy didn't even have the class to wait until after the song ended and chose to come right out to the floor and kick us off!! We had just enjoyed a dinner at the V, and some music at the Foundation Room where I am a member and decided to hit the Ranch Saloon for a good time before we were singled out and embarrassed on the dance floor. So we asked the cashier for a refund which she provided and stated they have a dress code for footwear that the shoe must have a strap. We were dressed to the nines and were not dressed inappropriately. We left and didn't spend any money there and will not be going there or referring people to there or to the restaurant where we had spent decent sums of money there in the past. We had been going there since 2014. No longer. The saloon vibe is horrible and the ambiance and atmosphere has gone downhill which is supported by the similar reviews of this low class treatment and actions performed by the security staff there. So last time I was at this place was..duh..before covid. Not because of covid but I was busy and didn't get the chance to go. Anyway..on 6/8 I went there with a group of people from my dance studio. Hoping for a good time. And most likely dinner because I was starving. So I went and met with my friends. First shocker was that about 15-20 people were cramped against the wall, with just a '2x4' plank on steroids as a 'long table' with no space to put any bigger plate at. So I asked my friends what's that and I was told that there was some 'issue' with reservations. If I got it right, for reservations you have to guarantee that each person spends $50 minimum. Which would've go pretty easy. And if we had a place to comfortably sit then we would definitely spend more than that. So now I had to chase a server because, apparently, no one 'serves at that plank'. I got my menu, made my pick and after asking' where I can order' I was sent to the bar. Now..I was wearing a WHITE dress!!! How much more invisible can you be in the dark in white dress?!? So I'm standing there, holding the bar, eyeing the staff. There were two of my friends..one was already waiting for her food, the other one was just ordering. Now I noticed three guys 'parking' themselves on the other side of my ordering friend. And there goes my alert....'hopefully they won't skip the line'.... Guess what?!? Sure enough!!! Server DIDN'T EVEN ASK who's next. Went straight to them! And they didn't even had the balls to said 'hey, she was here first'. Talking about today's generation:/ So since I'm not the 'fighting' type I was thinking ok, hopefully they'll be fast. They were. Fine. BUT meanwhile this older gentleman 'landed' on the other side of me and guess what?!! The server, once done with the guys, went straight to him!!! And that's where I lost it, slammed the menu on the bar and left to plant myself back by our plank! All of a sudden I lost my appetite and I just had that free water they offer (one tiny +) for the rest of the night. I know my bill wouldn't save the place but seriously?!? Service there really SUCK!!! Only nice guys were security guys.. So to close this...so you don't have to read this until the next day...lol....place itself is fine and fun (for OC) but unless you don't 'feed your mount for free' and don't give them a piece of your mind about reservations...make sure you have comfortable shoes and you EAT BEFORE you go. Gabby was our server, and she's very attentive and has a great attitude. Never let our drinks get empty. They don't allow chewing tobacco though, and even though I got caught with a fat lip, Abel was super cool and professional on fixing the situation. He's a really good guy! A girlfriend and I came to dance last night. Boy were we surprised by the amount of rules that this place makes up. It's no wonder the place was pretty empty and no one looked like they were having fun. They played a popular song and my friend ran out to dance except they were doing a different version so she stayed in the corner out of the way and did the dance as we were taught at our bar in south OC. After a few minutes security came out and pulled her off the dance floor and told her she needs to do their version. Lol. I've been to many line dance bars and never seen this happen before. My friend is a very experienced dancer and is aware of personal space. She was not in anyone's way. So if you come to this "line dance" bar make sure you are trained in the version of the dance that they do. Also, all the songs they play are techno/pop songs. None were to country music. Also don't try to sit at any of the many EMPTY "reserved" tables. You must pay a premium to sit down. Also, don't stand or dance in any isles you will be talked to by security. Also make sure you are wearing approved shoes. If you want to have fun and enjoy country music and line dance go to cowboy country or Montanas or Swallows Inn for a good time. Unless you are a regular here you will not feel welcome. The security guards must hate their jobs having to watch for proper dance moves rather than actually watching out for creepy drunk guys or safety issues. The Ranch Saloon is an absolute ripoff and complete disappointment run by a managerial staff that is unkind and entitled. Due to the fact that I had people in my party that would need a place to sit, I decided to reserve an area. Hope was the lady I spoke to and she put an extreme amount of pressure to book food(that we would be unable to make changes to, book the area(MAX 20 or we would be kicked out). we were informed by Alfredo, the manager, of a staggering $110 minimum charge per person, not including tax and tip! This exorbitant fee was for their seating reserved area But wait, there's more - they even tacked on an additional $10 charge just for the privilege of walking through the door. We were told by Alfredo and his unwelcoming staff that the maximum party size was 20 people, but the designated area clearly had space for at least 24 seats, if not 30. It was evident they were artificially capping numbers to maximize profits rather than provide a quality experience. The food was such a hassle because we had to order in advance and we were not allowed to make any changes the night of or even a few days before. What made it even worse was that the subpar offerings were abruptly cleared away at 9:30pm without any prior warning from the rude staff. We were essentially kicked out before we could properly enjoy the meager spread we had paid an arm and leg for. I am extremely disappointed and embarrassed about how were treated. I used to like this place and I loved celebrating my bday here. The fact that we didn't drink enough to cover the min cost of $110 per person without including tip or tax was expected. When I asked to pay the remainder but wanted a gift card to be able to use on a future night Alfredo adamantly refused and said not possible. To add insult to injury, we were prohibited from taking any leftovers home by that jerk Alfredo, which is just unacceptable considering the extortionate pricing. In an act of defiance, I ended up sharing the little food I could scrounge with friends nearby just to avoid total waste. The Ranch Saloon is a greedy, dishonest establishment run by entitled jerks like Alfredo who prioritize extracting every last penny over customer satisfaction. I implore anyone considering dining here to run for the hills and find an establishment that actually respects its patrons. All I can say is that this place was live. I'm not much of a country girl, but I wanted to do something different for my birthday this year. Can I say...it was a blast. It was our first time for my friends and I and we loved everything about it. The band was great. People were friendly. Drinks are good. Didnt get a chance to come early to learn how to line dance but the girls and I agreed we will be taking lessons for the next time we come here. We all loved people watching. All the songs had a version of line dancing and everyone on the dance floor knew when to get in formation (like pro dancers). The 2 steppers were cute. When dancing, they looked like they're fluid like ice skaters. Oh just an FYI, cover charge is $10. Parking in free or can do valet for $8. Lots of bar seats and tables avail unless it's reserved. I came here for a girls night for the first time, after dining at the restaurant another time before I came back finally! There was honestly zero issues that I read here from others on Yelp. Nobody moved us from any table, standing area and security wasn't even giving anyone a hard time nor were the bartenders discriminatory. I feel like it's nice when people give caution, but at times I feel I now have to take them with a grain of salt, because even the security was super polite. Every staff member here was super friendly to us. Multiple bartenders were kind and helpful. Even the girls at the entry register. No issues here at all! Nobody scooted us from anywhere we wanted to be, sitting, standing or dance floor. If you want a semi calm atmosphere of couples, dancing and drinks this is your place. The crowd is like 70% older folks and a mix of younger like us. I came here to celebrate my birthday on a busy Saturday night. I had a friend set up the RSVP with Ty Ferguson (Saloon Managers) on Thursday night for 14 guest! The night was perfect. We had two large tables right when you walk into the saloon. Ashley was our sever and she did an amazing job. Always making sure my guest had water or there drinks were refilled. The food was amazing. I had the Petite Filet, cooked medium with California Yellow Corn, Fava Beans, & Heirloom Tomatoes. I shared a side with a friend, we ordered the Cheddar Scalloped Potatoes. My drink of the night was there Sparkling Rosa Regal, Red Wine made from Brachetto d'Acqui in Piedmont, Italy. Jerry Crespo the saloon manager was very attentive making sure my guest didn't need anything as well. Overall a great night and my guest were very pleased with our experience. We were learning how to dance and got kicked out because we we "bumped into someone" however I never did and was never warned but the bouncer had the audacity to say we were warned "several times" which was a total lie. This place has gone so downhill - I used to come here a bit and won't return. Line dancing was not good, many of the mainstream songs had a "The Ranch" version different from the mainstream ones, even in the SoCal region so I had to sit out a ton of songs. Paid a $10 cover (100% increase from $5 a few years ago) to not be able to sit anywhere and constantly get asked to move by security because the available standing area is in a fire code violation lane. There was SO MUCH SEATING but the tables sat empty all night because they wanted reservations with $100 for 2 people. Rather than let people sit in empty tables they made them stand even when they were eating food (which tasted awful) they had ordered, then constantly get asked to move by staff. Half the staff had an attitude, from the parking valet to security. It's a shame because a few years back this place was a lot of fun. Will be going to Cowboy Country, Cowboy Palace and Gaslamp instead moving forward - was warned about many of these issues before coming and these were the alternatives that were suggested. I really like this place. Good old dancing fun for the young and young at heart. I do wish they had more free style dancing throughout the night as we are beginners in line dancing. Well, more like first time line dancing. The waitress were hit or miss. We couldn't find a table to sit at and was told by 2 staff that no table available as they walk past us. Went there to celebrate a friend's birthday, we had 2 tables of 15 professionals. We were having a fun time until Security escorted one of our friends out. Apparently his stool on the end of the table was not allowed due to fire code requirement & he accidentally knocked over a handmade sign at another table. It really makes me question the motivation for escorting our friend out. It would've have been nice if he had been given a warning. I love the steak. I love the restaurant. I took my parents for their 40th anniversary and had the best time but the behavior on the saloon side was extremely unprofessional. Last Friday our school had its annual fundraiser and silent auction at The Ranch Saloon- we did the buyout so it was a private event. I cannot say enough about how wonderful the night was! From the event planning with Alyson Carpenter, to the set up, the food, the service- all went so smooth! We had 300 people, but even with that number of guests- the buffet food was amazing, the drinks were coming quick! We had the Chris Lozano Band play, and DJ Lauren kept us line dancing on the floor too! Both we such a hit!! Our school raised some great money, but most importantly we had food, fun and fellowship- and all because of our wonderful experience at the Ranch Saloon. Food is what you would expect from a bar. Bartenders are good, but I've been so many times over the course of four years that I just don't have issues with them at all. They did, unfortunately, have an issue with one of the guys drinking too much while bartending and that was a hoot. ID's: Does not accept federally issued IDs/CACs. Had a marine station in 29 Palms come down and get denied access because his picture was from bootcamp. Anyone who's ever served will understand this. Regardless, bouncer called it a fake and instead of calling authorities (why wouldn't you for a fake federal ID), just decided to be an ass to him. Would recommend any government and military personnel to simply avoid this place. There are rules for being on the dance floor. Therefore, no drinks allowed and you have to be attempting the line dancing if you go on a Thursday. However, they have had no issue with letting drunk women's breasts hang out for everyone to see. The bouncers inside stood along the outside of the dance floor and just watched. Lastly for this review, they cut waiters/waitresses off at one point. Just go up to the bar and order if that's the case. Have gotten a table/booth before and they're a bit better for that, but same deal later on in the night. The bussers though are spectacular. They will comb every horizontal surface and grab it all. Once had them take my mule, but got a fresh one back and things happen. There are better places to go, especially for paying a decent amount to get in. If you like country and line dancing, this place will be for you. Last note: There is a gentleman there who is very hip thrusty. Has quite a nickname too that I can't say here. This is by far the most upscale country dance club in socal. On Friday and Saturday they have a nice mix of line dancing and 2 step, with west coast swing, country cha chas, waltz, and free style sprinkled in. Thursday night is mostly contemporary line dancing with some couple dances every half hour or so. The lessons, taught by their amazing instructors, Kerry, Dev and Shelly, are at 6:30 and 7:15 every night and are included with the $10 cover (which they waive if you have dinner next door at the restaurant). Ladies, if you want to dance, make sure you are wearing shoes that have an ankle strap or you will not be allowed on the dance floor. Dress code is fairly casual (they can be kinda strict with daisy dukes that show cheek). Anthony is their doorman and is super cool and chill. Frank and the security staff keep the place extremely safe and they shutdown anyone that gets too obnoxious very fast and professionally. There is plenty of free seating, but you can reserve booths and tables (with minimum purchases), and the food and drinks are really good, you wont be disappointed with anything on the menu. I love Katie, she was our first server when I started going here about 8 years ago, and while Im sure the rest of the wait staff are great, her service has been so consistently amazing and is always there if I need anything. Donnie is my go to bartender, and has never disappointed me, even when I throw him curveballs. Came to this restaurant & Saloon last week for dinner. Wow, we had a great time and they have excellentservice too. Employees working here from the security to restaurant are really helpful and friendly. The great thing about sitting in the Saloon ( there is a cover charge ): still can order meal from the Restaurant or from their own menu and you can enjoy dancing or just listen to the country music. I highly recommend the porter house for the main course ( large enough to share for 2 people) and artichoke for the appetizers. They also have large selection of wines and cocktail drinks. The Ranch is my favorite place to go dancing. Yes, there are dance floor rules (which are listed on their website and at the front door as you enter), but they're in place to give dancers a good experience and I appreciate knowing I won't slip on someone's spilled drink or be run into because they're doing a dance that's different than what was called. It creates an atmosphere that is much more elevated than other local country bars (and I've been to all of them). They do have freestyle sets played by both the band and DJ on Fridays and Saturdays to break up the two-stepping, West Coast Swing, partner dances, and line dances. The food is incredible; honestly, you can't go wrong with anything ordered off the menu (and you can also order off the restaurant and farm menus while in the saloon). Everyone on staff is there to make sure you have a great time. The bartenders, servers, security, and management want you to enjoy your visit and their service is top notch. I've been coming to The Ranch for almost 5 years and have never had a negative experience with any member on staff. Last weekend I came to The Ranch Saloon after eating at the restaurant next door - both for a bachelorette party. I was the only one in the group not drinking... as I drove myself and everyone else had rides set up there and home. We were able to enter without paying a cover charge, since we had dinner at the restaurant, so that was nice. We were escorted over by our waitress after our meal. They take you, and someone else takes your drinks, as you cant carry them outside the few feet to the other entrance, We had a table reserved, which came with leaving a credit card as a deposit, and a minimum of $250 guaranteed to be spent on drinks. Thankfully it wasnt my credit card, because I dont think I would have agreed to that. We were a group of 12, and at some point I believe up to 15 (after I left) so I dont think meeting that minimum was a problem, as from what I saw the average price for a drink or shot was about $10. From what I heard it sounded like this was a bar for a younger crowd, of early 20 somethings, but I didnt see that the night we went. It was a good mix of all ages of guests. There was a live band, and they were awesome. I love country music so I had a great time just listening to the music and singing along - I dont dance. I dont hang out in "clubs" so I wasnt sure I would enjoy this place. I kept to myself and enjoyed it. When we arrived, our table was a bit small for all of us, and I believe it was one of the managers asked us if we wanted to move to another bigger table. That was awesome. I only stayed until around 10pm and while it was crowded, it wasnt insane - and it was still somewhat comfortable to have a conversation with friends without having to scream.
