The interior lighting is VERY RED - as implied by the name. Drinks are basic dive bar status, but people come here for FOOD. Chalk board menu has only 5 or 6 dishes available on most nights, but they are really good. My Blackened Grouper had possibly the best crust - thick with flavor and texture - that I have ever had! Loved it! My wife loved her Shrimp & Crab Linguini, and the rest of our family had assorted other dishes that were universally great. Food is way better than you would expect in a kitschy dive bar. Same owner for 20+ years, and he is clearly doing several things right. We'll be back. read more

If you're high on social distancing, this probably isn't the place for you. But if you like great food, fun attentive service, energetic atmosphere, live music, and tons of eclectic decorations and memorabilia, then The Red Bar is for you! At first glance, the menu appears to be limited. But that allows them to focus on what they do to make it great...and they do! The blackened grouper (huge piece of fish!) cooked to a nice lightly crisp texture served over sautéed spinach atop a grit cake is one of my favorite seafood dishes anywhere. And those crab cakes...oh those crab cakes! I did say crab, right? Not just breading with a little crab inserted so they qualify as crab. No, crab...and lots of it...with just enough light breading to hold all of the crab together! Served with smashed potatoes (which admittedly were slightly dry on this visit by the time we are at 9 pm). Both entrees included a salad served on the plate...tasty mixed greens and a few gives tomatoes with a citrus(?) vinaigrette dressing that has a great flavor and light texture rather than thick like some vinaigrette dressings. We're so glad The Red Bar is now reopened, even despite COVID-19, after the fire that destroyed the old building last summer. This was our first visit since they reopened and we can say, it's better than ever. The old building went away but the restaurant didn't! Same great atmosphere and food, crammed full of guests more than willing to wait 60-90 minutes on a weekend night because it's JUST. THAT. GOOD! Now, about the social distancing...if that's important to you, you should probably look elsewhere. The packed crowd all night long and the lack of masks most of the time (because everyone is eating & drinking!) makes it hard not to imagine the virus making the rounds, so vulnerable people might be more comfortable somewhere else until a vaccine is available. But for everyone else, the long wait is worth it! I bet you won't be disappointed! read more

So nice to return today to The Red Bar for lunch! My husband and I have dined here before, however, this is our first time to dine here since the fire and rebuild. The restaurant has returned with the same ambiance with an upgrade to larger restrooms. The waitstaff was friendly and accommodating with great service and the traditional menu on the board. We started with a mimosa and both enjoyed the blackened fish sandwich with fries. Be sure to arrive early for lunch in order to get a parking space as they are limited. read more

Waited about an hour for a table (not surprised, that's fine). We sat outside and did some people watching with drinks from the bar. Sat at a table in the bar area, so there were constantly people pushed up against the table trying to get drinks, not necessarily my idea of a relaxing meal. Pasta was horrible: noodles, oil, crawfish; no flavor, no depth. Like pasta a child orders, but added crawfish on top, oily and gross. The wait was not nearly as bad as we anticipated, and they managed to accommodate to my party of 9 easily. the shortened menu was disappointing as there were dishes we'd had before that we were looking forwards to. The red at was as expected though, its a beautiful restaurant and is right near a beach. I recommend dressing warmer than you would think you need, and take photos! read more

This is the second time I've been here since they rebuilt it from scratch. It looks very much like the original. The menu is minimal, but this is what makes it great. Order anything with shrimp or their fish of the day sandwich. AND then order the key lime pie!!! Hands down the best in the area. Came here because of a recommendation for good music. We didn't know it is also a restaurant and had already eaten. We did however tried their desserts and the key lime pie was very delicious as well as their bread pudding. The staff was very friendly and welcoming. The atmosphere was a lot of fun with people laughing and having a good time. Our only regret was not being able to return to try their delicious looking food that was being served. (Preface: I hate to say all of this. We were married on Grayton Beach 20 years ago before - almost - everyone else discovered it. The Red Bar was there then and already cool.) The Red Bar must be surviving on its reputation because the food was bad. My chicken panne sandwich was okay, but certainly not special and the fries were meh. My husband ordered a shrimp poboy and had to eat the shrimp with a fork because the tails and occasionally legs and veins were still on under the breading! How they expect someone to eat a sandwich without properly preparing the shrimp, I have no idea. When the waiter saw this, he didn't even ask if everything was okay. The building is still cool, but they need to hire a chef that knows what they're doing. read more

We always go here multiple times when we're in town. If you're around during the day and you're looking for a fairly quick lunch go there and ask them for the Shrimp Basket instead of a po-boy they will make you a Shrimp Basket instead usually get about eight or nine good size shrimp definitely wild caught and very tasty comes with a ton of fries. I give it a solid 9 out of 10 really good cocktail sauce. You can even substitute for tartar sauce which is homemade and really good. Not a fancy place but great fried shrimp also if you find a parking spot in the area the beach behind it is absolutely beautiful it's a short walk of maybe 300 yards. I also have really good dinners and the best key lime pie you will ever have. I first came here about 10 years ago. Loved it. Came back after the rebuild and honestly would never have known the difference. I must go to place in Grayton Beach. We went here a couple of times while we were visiting Seaside because they were open late. The DJ keeps lively music going at the bar. It's definitely a happening place. The grouper special was absolutely delicious served on top of bacon grits. The manicotti was rich and delicious. We also tried the eggplant was also flavorful. Worth the hype. Cool ambiance, music is a little loud but they have a back room if that isn't your vibe. Blackened grouper and grit cake is amazing. Had it twice this week. Also had a special mahi ceviche that was amazing! Food prices are pretty fair for what you get. Must try. My negative feedback is the coozies they sell in their store are cheap foam ones for $10. Make it a neoprene. I've bought thousands of coozies when I ran a festival and a neoprene isn't too much more but so much better. I did not buy one but would have if it was neoprene. read more
