What a wonderful meal in a restful setting with excellent service and innovative food. I started with the special Thai Potato soup which had chunks of carrot, potatoes, a slight spice with coconut milk and curry. It was very creative and delicious. I followed that with breaded and fried salmon which was a very surprising and tasty dish. As if this wasn't enough, I had the best pumpkin cheesecake of my life. If you saw me, you would know that is a lot of pumpkin cheesecake. This is more than worth the drive out from Portland even if you aren't going to visit Mt. Hood as we were. If you're lucky you will be able to eat on their patio. Oh and insist on dessert. Maybe have it frist. read more

Visited dinner December 29 6pm and lunch December 30 2pm Both visits the dining area was packed, however the service was friendly and prompt! Food was amazing both times as well as desert after dinner. For dinner both my wife and I had the New York Steak,  cooked to perfection, and marvelous flavors! Our daughter had the kids pasta with Alfredo sauce, which disappeared before we could finish our dinners. Dinner drinks were house specialties and we're fantastic For lunch my wife had home made black bean burger, I had grass fed local burger with Tillamook cheddar; both were absolutely great! And our daughter had the pasta again (this is partly why we returned, our daughters choice). Over, all both visits were fun and both meals were very memorable! read more

Finally good food!!! We've been staying at the mountain for 4 days now and have eaten at 4 different restaurants. Every. Single. One. was essentially cheap bar food. Our dinner tonight was WONDERFUL!! Steak cooked perfect, mashed potatoes were great, veggies were fresh & cooked perfect. The bread was soooo good. Writing this review breaks my heart. We were on vacation in the area and, at the suggestion of people at the Resort at the Mountain, we decided to eat here. The food tasted oh-so-yummy and the service was wonderful!!! I had a pork sandwich that was out of this world! Our waiter (whose name I can't remember, but he had a ponytail) was funny, patient and a delight. He made our experience even more fun. When my hubby was served his salmon, I thought to myself that it didn't look or smell right, but I didn't say anything to him since he was pleased with the dish. Unfortunately, my husband woke up in the middle of the night with food poisoning from the salmon that he ate. In case you are wondering how he knows it was food poisoning...he is a doctor and had all the classic signs. Had it not been for the food poisoning, I would have given this restaurant 5 stars. read more

Arrived at The Rendezvous Grill this evening, excited to have a nice dinner after a chaotic day of travel. As soon as we arrived, we saw a white haired gentlemen running around frantically as we tried to figure out how to get seated. Another guest was there and said we should put our name on the list as it's "always hard to get the attention of staff" when she comes here. I added my name and party size to the list. After about 10 minutes of standing there and no staff even remotely acknowledging our presence, the man asks if I've been put on the list and I answered that I had put my name and party size on the list. He retorts in a very haughty fashion "I PUT NAMES ON THE LIST, NOT YOU." Other guests standing around even looked shocked and one mentioned his poor attitude. As I came outside to tell the other guests in my party about his response, he looked at me and said "that's enough out of you, do you want to eat here or no?" Absolutely not with an attitude like that towards your guests. My boyfriend and I both come from a restaurant background and were appalled by the treatment. I understand being busy and flustered, but it was a complete lack of professionalism to treat guests in such a way, especially when there wasn't any discernible organization to the check in or designation of who to check in with. Didn't care how good the food could have been, would never pay a business that treats customers that way. read more

The Rendezvous was a nice surprise coming off the hill, of Mt. Hood, after skiing. We decided to try a few restaurants for a progressive dinner on our way down the hill. We chose the Rendezvous from their ratings for our main course. We went to the Tap room because that's where we felt more comfortable after skiing although there is a formal dining room. We met very friendly local people, including the owner Tom. We enjoyed a good bottle of Genache wine, their special for the evening. We also shared a very tasty chicken stuffed with Brie over golden Yukon mashed potatoes with olive raisen toponade. It was delicious!!! I am gluten intolerant and it was a good dish for me. This restaurant is definitely worth a stop on your way through Welches to or from Mt. Hood. I gave this restaurant a 5 star rating because of the food, the friendliness of the locals and the atmosphere. read more

Haven't been to the 'Vous for a number of months but went tonight and, as always, food and service was great Three of us ordered the Pork Sandwich - wonderful! Just the right combination of sweet and spicy. Also tried the turnip/pear/bacon soup - yummy! The fourth member of our group ordered the tried-and-true salmon salad. Crisp greens, great dressing and a large portion of freshly grilled salmon. We were stuffed to the gills and then .... the dessert tray shows up. In spite of the fact that we were far and away beyond stll hungry we ordered the Godiva White Chocolate Brulee and a surprising homemade lemon ice cream/huckleberry sauce concoction. Both desserts were, as usual, awesome. Save room for dessert - you won't be disappointed. Service is efficient and friendly and the owner checked in to make sure we were happy. This is a great place in the summer and winter - well worth the drive. Right now they're offering half-price appetizers and/or entrees in the Grill (bar area) on certain nights of the week -call ahead if you want the details, plus they have some special events coming up during December. At full price the food is well priced and worth what they're asking. At half price? It's an incredibly awesome deal! read more

The Rendezvous Gril was recommended to us by the owners of a home we rented in Welches. Honestly, if it were not for the recommendation I would never had even seen this place. I don't get internet service on my smart phone in the area so I had no way to Yelp this location. We went completely on faith, hoping we were not steered wrong. From the outside this place does not stand out. It appears to be your average restaurant, nothing special. When we stepped inside and saw that the dinning room was closed for lunch and we had to sit in the much smaller bar area I became a little nervous, especially with a small child in tow. We sat in one of the open tables (there were about three other small groups already eating inside). The chairs were rickety and old.....uh oh. Did we make a bad choice coming here? Then the very friendly waitress comes by and drops off some menus. I order the Mediterranean Hummus plate, a pasta dish and the hubby orders a pork sandwich. The Hummus dish was delivered within a few minutes. It was BIG and loaded with olives, marinated onions, pita wedges, feta cheese, marinated tomatoes, and of course hummus. It was so damn good! The BEST hummus dish I have ever, ever had! And trust me, I have had a lot! I could have eaten that all day every day! Oh, forgot to mention that before our hummus arrived, the waitress came by and brought us a small basket of toys safe for our little one to play with. She told us they sanitize them in the dish washer after every use so that they were clean and safe for our baby to gnaw on. What a kind gesture and such a great way to keep little ones happy! (and mommy's happy too!!) A little later our main dishes were served. My pasta was so yummy, my husbands sandwich looked delicious and had the most interesting flavor. I have never tasted anything like it before. He devoured it! I looked at my husband at this point and asked him, "Can you imagine if we turned around and never tried this place out?" We both shook our heads. We were so thankful to have given this place a shot. It was such an all around pleasant experience. And with most dinning experiences like this, if I am this happy with main dishes, bring on the desserts. Desserts! Oh, the desserts!!! Why did every single thing on the tray have to sound and look so darn good!! It wasn't fair that I had to choose just one! I am still not happy about that! I finally settled on some apple caramel crisp thing. Sorry, can't recall what it was called, and frankly, who cares!! Just ask for the apple thing! It was so good! I have got to get back to this place so that I can try the other desserts!!!!!! I have to say that the staff here was amazingly friendly and efficient. They made our experience here at the Rendezvous all that much better. We can not wait to return!!! read more

We stumbled on the restaurant by accident. We are VERY happy we did. We have a house in Portland and one in Sunriver. On the way over and back we like to break the 3 hour trek up with lunch or dinner. We have stopped in the Rendezvous three or four times now. Each and every time we have had impeccable service and mouth watering food. Go on a Friday and try the clam chowder! YUMM The steak bites are always on point as well as the sent from heaven sweet potato fries. Don't say that's boring! they're not boring here. From the fried oysters to the salmon to the bread to the homemade deserts, everything, YES everything, is GOOD. If we lived any closer this restaurant would be my every week haunt. Its worth the hour drive from our house just to have dinner there. Do yourself a favor and stop in on your drive over the mountain. You'll be glad you did! read more

My grandparents own a small cabin up in this part of Oregon and we've been coming to Zig Zag / Welches / Government Camp ever since I was a young lad. Since the Rendezvous opened years back, this has been my family's place for fine dining in the immediate area. In recent years, I would've given this place a two star rating (mostly for lackluster food that is a little overpriced); however, for old-times sake and the good memories, I would've given it a four. Hence, the compromise of three stars. I truly think it depends what night you come in, who your server is and how crowded the restaurant may be at the time. My grandmother swears by the fried razor clams, so that's a must-try for seafoodies. My wife and I typically get the cheese plate, which, to us, is exceptional as far as cheese plates go (good selection of nuts, fruit, cheese that doesn't overwhelm, usually some delicately thin-sliced pears...heavenly). I've had a variety of sandwiches and burgers, none of which are overly impressive or disappointing. Just solid, upscale pub food. They have a decent beer and wine list, which is always nice, and if nothing else, the ambience is fairly mellow. Like most restaurants in the area, whether it's fine dining or not, casual attire is just fine. Their servers are typically very friendly and attentive. read more

Husband and I stopped here on our way back from Government Camp today. We were the only patrons there which wasn't surprising since it was about 2:30 on a weekday. We knew the prices were higher than we usually pay, but since we both weren't major hungry, we decided to split the Roasted Carlton Farms Pork Loin Sandwich (ciabbata bread, white Grafton cheddar cheese, mayo, and tomato chutney), which was recommended by Stephanie, our friendly and very helpful server. It arrived within just a few minutes with the restaurant's homemade ketchup, which was delicious. The sandwich was awesome and incredibly yummy. Hint: if you order it, get extra napkins... you're gonna need them! Stephanie warned us that it was messy but oh, so worth the mess, and she was absolutely right. Yeah, the prices are high ($12.50 for a hamburger (brioche bun, smoked onion aioli, marinated red onions, lettuce, tomato, pickle, salad or fries), but then that's not a very usual burger, either. I wouldn't mind coming back again for a special occasion. It's definitely upscale, with cloth napkins even. Although we didn't see the dinner menu, I expect that the variety of choices is just as good as on the lunch menu. They say, "Serious food in a not-so-serious place", with "devastating desserts". They have a 5 star chef that makes to-die- dinner entrees and desserts that you cannot say no to, no matter how full you are! This was the first horrible experience of my vacation. We ordered and waited 45 minutes for the waitress to tell us that they were out of the dinner I ordered. This was not the waitress fault and she apologized and asked us to order something else. She came back and said no I lied we have part of the order. But said I could still order something else. So I ordered another dinner. The waitress came back again and said they were out of that dinner. I then asked for the owner/ manager to come to our table. He came and only made excuses. Modestly Pretentious... This place reminds me of a nerd Notihing to right home about in regards to appearance but smart as hell which makes him a little snooty. But Rendezvous is a nerd with a big "unit," you are kind of annoyed and ready to leave but BAM there it is and wow the food is good. Stopped here for a little lunch after reading the reviews. Glad we did~ it was warm enough to sit on the patio and enjoy the sunny day. I ordered the hamburger and my husband ordered the salmon fish & chips. We both enjoyed our meal. The dessert looked and sounded amazing, although we were too full to enjoy. The customers next to us tried to encourage us to get a dessert and said it was their favorite spot for dessert. Overall great restaurant. Service was great as well. read more

Ate outside, absolutely adorable. I am a flower-nut and was super charmed by the patio. Great beers on tap and a really excellent meal. There were a bunch of really great Wednesday wine deals that I did not partake in. My quinoa burger knocked my socks off and my salad came in a delicious slightly spiced orange vinegarette. My partner got a medium rare burger cooked perfectly. Burgers were served with their own special sauces but also Portland organic ketchup and mustard. We love this place! We never drive by it any more if we are on Hwy 26. Their bone-in pork chop and Arugula Beet Salad is awesome. Don't waste your time with any of the other crappy restaurants in the area. This place makes finely crafted dishes that show they really care. They were even playing great Blues music tonight. Wow! Superb food, fantastic service, and beautiful surroundings in their outdoor patio. We were here for lunch and had the sockeye salad and the salmon fish and chips. I want to come back for dinner and choose one of their wine selections and other menu items. And why bother driving in to Portland for dessert when they have an amazing selection here?! We tried the blackcap tart and the boccone dolce....yum!!! It's a little spendy (especially if you have a sweet booth like me!)! I was very hungry after a day of hiking, and wanted to treat myself to a nice meal. I came here because it had the best reviews in the area. I was blown away by both the food and the service. Everyone I interacted with was kind, and my waitress went out of her way to try and expedite my appetizer because I told her how hungry I was. The complimentary bread is warm and addicting. I had the salmon special, which was a sockeye filet served with avocado salsa, roasted veggies, and rice pilaf. It was by far the best meal I've had in a while. We go here every time we come to the mountain and every single item ordered has been delicious! The staff is as friendly and accommodating as can be without pretense and the food creations are wonderful. We are big fans of the quinoa burger, their king salmon, and their roasted Brussels sprouts. read more
