The layers of flavor in the gumbo is a "must try" for any gumbo fan. Served in a large empty bowl, but with a quail off to one side. The server pours the hot gumbo broth over the quail. Rice and goodness is the quail and all that is stuffed within. The soup is amazing, again the layers and depth of flavor. Bread might be nice, but would soften the punch of flavor of the broth. Super good stuff here. Not filling as a meal just fyi

So this spot is Real Real Chilled. Straight drinking is being done here. So No FOOD here folks! However, this spot is a Mood. Honey the Play List is A-1!!!! I'm a big R&B fan and so the playlist here I fell in love with...Very relaxed. A Spot that's so far during happy hour is chilled. No hyohy activity here. WARNING! The frozen margaritas are strong and if you catch the between 4-7pm you get them $5. There's good premium liquor selection.

This was highly recommended by a friend, and he was so right. The Revolution is fantastic. Great food, delectable cocktails, cool atmosphere and attentive staff. Consider the Expo Bar experience for a unique and worthwhile evening.

This restaurant is so nice. Atmosphere is great. Service is accommodating. Food is prepared well although it doesn't get to an art level

The good : The food…read morewas all just incredible. I did not realize what gnocchi was actually supposed to be like until I ate it in masterpiece form. The overall vibe/decor is dramatic and appealing. If you are a group of rich girls who are eating before they go out drinking or a dude trying hard to impress a date, this is the spot. The eh: It's $$$. I probably didn't look into this aspect well enough so my shock at the menu/check was probably on me. Portions are a bit confusing. Poutine was huge - like Mexican Nachos size huge. Hamburger also. But 2 deviled eggs, a tiny 9$ miniature loaf of bread were confusing in contrast. We had two mixed drinks. Gin and tonic was fine, but the 17$ espresso martini was hilariously undrinkably unpleasant. Less like espresso, more like donut shop coffee. Now, I love some indirect lighting. It creates interesting and compelling spaces with mood and a bit of mystery- But y'all - this is just the darkest restaurant (or lounge or whatever) I have ever eaten in. There is so little light that you literally cannot read the menu without using the flashlight on your phone. It is spelunking levels of darkness in there. I had to ask the server for more of the tiny tabletop candles just so we could see each other. The music is also very loud. Which would make sense if there was a dance floor or some reason for it. It is a place where what you do is drink and eat (in the dark) and talk to each other. The design of the restaurant itself seems at odds with the two things it aims to provide.

The highlight of the meal was easily the CALAS appetizer. The snapper pastrami brought a wonderful smoky depth that paired beautifully with the horseradish cream, and it was one of the few dishes that felt balanced, intentional, and memorable. A genuinely excellent start. Things became more disappointing once the entrees and cocktails arrived. The Rohan duck breast itself was cooked very well -- tender, properly rendered, and clearly prepared with care -- but what was never communicated by the staff was just how sweet the overall composition of the dish would be. Pairing that with cocktails that also leaned heavily sweet made the entire meal feel one-note and overwhelming by the midpoint of dinner. The red beans and rice suffered from the same issue. Despite the spice topping, the dish skewed surprisingly sweet and didn't complement the duck at all. What frustrated me most was that this felt entirely avoidable. At a restaurant with a cocktail reputation this strong, I would expect the wait staff to guide guests toward drinks that balance the meal rather than amplify the sweetness already present in multiple courses. Instead, no recommendations or warnings were offered, and the meal suffered because of it. I was especially underwhelmed by the Harlequin cocktail, which seems to receive a massive amount of online hype. In practice, it simply didn't justify the reputation. It wasn't bad, but it lacked the complexity and "wow" factor you would expect from a signature drink that's so heavily talked about. Overall, there are flashes of excellence here, particularly in the appetizer course and technical preparation, but the lack of thoughtful service and pairing guidance made the experience feel far less polished than advertised.

Walking in at 1:30 on a beautifully sunny Wed, we fully expected a wait. Instead, our two empty seats beckoned to us like a pretty girl winking at us across a bar in college. Marvin has been promoted to Beverage Manager. He left his bar in very good hands. The two young dudes carrying his torch were great. Very friendly and well aware each time we finished our drink and needed a reload. They're well-trained in the art of concocting the Sazerac we love. Sitting for 2 hours watching the regular turnover of the precious seats at the Carousel is still big fun. And having a friendly chat with the constant turnover of strangers sitting next to us is part of the unique charm of the Carousel Bar. As we were leaving Corey the bartender let us know management is shutting down next month for a few weeks for much needed repairs & renovations so the Carousel can add another 50-60 years to its legacy.

We got there at 10:55am and there was a little line. When the doors opened, Oddly enough, there was a party of 5 sitting inside already?!?? Our bartender Will took a while to come get our drink order and took longer to get, one of us never even got our beer. I pointed at someone's drink and told Will I wanted that, the martini special. How is he gonna make me the drink minus the Baileys?!? I pointed to the drink I wanted, simple. My bf ordered a Abita, guess what 45 mins passed and he NEVER got his beer. We asked for the check and Will said "oh your beer". Bro just give us the check and take off the beer. Worst service I've ever experienced. How you going to forget about someone's drink who's sitting right in front of you drink-less plus make a drink wrong. The carousel sits about 25 people and there's 2 bartenders?!? This isn't a club where drinks are getting shouted out. The only thing they have going for them is the rotating carousel bar if the SD one didn't close, I'd say pass and go to that one instead. One and done for me. Good luck if you get Will as your bartender! And sir, no I'm not coming back after the game for you to make it right, make it right the first time!
