I have been to the Reyn a couple of times and I have loved each visit. The Reyn is your typical mom&pop shop with a Mexican twist to it. There seems to be many locals who come here often and have their "regular". The multiple times I have been here have been after local hikes for brunch or just because I was craving a little cafe spot. Environment - located on the corner of a street, there's plenty of back lot and street parking. When you walk in, you'd notice that the Reyn looks like an old diner and has that kind of feel. There are choices of counter seats, booth seats and tables with chairs. There's a view of the diner action regardless of where you sit! Everything is really entertaining to watch :) Service - everyone is so diner-friendly here! The workers treat everyone as if they are family and they all seem so cheerful. They were very attentive, answered all of our questions and were always asking us what we needed. Food - their food is so unique where it's a blend of american diner with a twist of mex. I always have trouble choosing what to eat because their food descriptions always make everything sound so delicious! 1) Veggie Omelette - omelettes are my favorite things to eat and to order during brunch. I believe that omelettes help determine how good a restaurant is... i mean, who can mess up eggs? These are pretty large and tasty. They comes with home fries or fruits and biscuits or banana bread. Enough to fill a large hungry customer, or two meals for me! 2) Chocolate Chip Pancakes - delicious! All the pancakes on the menu sounds wonderful and they look even better in person! And they taste great. Comes with two eggs and bacon/sausage. Always get extra powdered sugar and syrup! Don't be skimpy with that butter either. My weakness. 3) Fried Chicken Wrap - I believe that this is a special but anything in a wrap is very good. Mine had a raspberry vinaigrette, with cut lettuce and avocado... the best thing I ate all day. It also came with a choice of potatoes.. in which I got with home fries :) 4) Hash browns or Home fries? - I prefer the home fries always because it reminds me more of french fries. One thing I have noticed is that they can get pretty oily though.. so maybe ask them to be extra crispy to avoid that problem! 5) Banana bread - ALWAYS GET THE BANANA BREAD. You won't regret it. Love this local breakfast/lunch spot. I live nearby and would recommend trying it on a weekday if you can. The place is popular and often has a line out the door on weekends. Prices are okay, especially considering the size of the meal is shareable. A favorite of mine is the Sophie scramble or Cinnamon Roll French Toast. I have come numerous times with friends who all enjoyed the food and service very much. The place is kid friendly and service is prompt with frequent beverage refills. On one occasion I had a snippy waitress which did make the experience a little less enjoyable but other than that it has always been positive. Our server kept rushing us to order when there was 5 or more tables empty (it's a small place), the food wasn't seasoned, and what I thought would be a good spot to catch up with family that was coming from out of town, I was asked by not only the server but also the manager to leave for staying "too long". The only reason I left two stars was the banana bread and the lovely bussers (not the server) who were consisten in asking if we wanted coffee. There were people who were there before us that still haven't left. I can't help feel they had a personal problem with us (we were speaking Spanish the whole time). For Pasadena locals this is basically the Pie n Burger of breakfast - old school diner vibe, good food and stellar prices. We got the French toast (wow so good!), all Americans (amazing portion size) and grits combo (tasty, but had to add a lil salt). Would def come back to try the waffle. I visited this spot for breakfast on Saturday. Indoor and outdoor dining was available. The food came out fast. Every dish that passed by me I wished I'd ordered that. The waffles looked Devine as did the pancakes. I ordered corn beef hash potatoes and eggs. It was delicious. Everything was great and the price was amazing. We looked at some of the other options in the neighborhood and decided on this place because of some of the reviews and because of the pictures of the food honestly. My other kid had the Reyn Special with 2 eggs, 2 bacon, hash and banana bread. Solid choice and the banana bread was definitely the star of the meal, we all had a little chunk of monkey goodness. I had a veggie omelette with the biscuit and it hit the spot. The food was tasty diner fare, nothing bad but nothing that will knock your socks off about it either. It is a good place to have a good meal for a fair price. Chain breakfast places sell you a plate of pancakes for $15 and this place does it for under $10 with far superior offerings. The real magic of this place is the service though. Not only attentive (had my coffee cup refilled like 4 times and my water like 3-4) but with a personal touch. The waitresses are so nice and they repeat your order back to be sure you get what you ordered. This is a bit of attention to detail I love! The way I described the place to my wife was "you know those diners where politicians go sit down with people and have a cup of coffee for the cameras? This is one of those places." If your party is larger than six people it'll get very tight. They have a full menu with breakfast to burgers and other items. When I see breakfast items on a menu even though it's lunch time I normally order breakfast. Today I order the Reyn special which included two eggs over medium, hash brown, bacon, banana bread and fresh squeezed orange juice. From the time we sat down to the time we left, we did not need to signal for more coffee or requesting anything else. The amount of food you get for the price is excellent. Most of us could not finish everything and had to pack food to go. The cooks are excellent. The eggs were cooked perfectly whether it be over easy or over hard. The hash brows were very crispy. When you read other reviews, believe them when they recommend the banana bread. Even though we were full, we had a hard time resisting the banana bread. It was so good! While we were waiting for our food, we enjoyed reading the various signs peppered around the restaurant. The ambiance was so cute. This is our second time there, and I will return. read more

I almost drove past this restaurant because of its nondescript and plain looking exterior. However, once you step inside, the interior is filled with the proper character of a cozy, little diner. Clever signs line the walls and friendly smiles on servers' faces are plentiful all throughout. There was little to no wait since I came around 1 in the afternoon. The parking lot was a bit small, but free street parking is available. I was satisfied with the taste of the Farmers Breakfast items except for the hash browns. Mine came out a bit too crispy and overcooked (see picture). Fortunately, this is not how they usually cook their hash browns, at least from what I can see from other picture uploads. I have gone to The Reyn several times. It use to be one of my breakfast locations but this morning was so disappointing and I'll never go back. Myself and a business colleague decided to dine at The Reyn for breakfast. The staff was nasty upon arrival. I wanted to order a cup of coffee while I wait for my other party and was declined. We were seated, placed our order, our food was brought out quick, which is standard. We had been there a good 45 minutes, I'm still eating and my colleague had ordered a beverage. Less than 5 minutes later a server comes over and tells us we need to wrap it up and leave. I have never been to a restaurant and been asked to wrap it up and leave because there are other people outside. I asked to speak to the manager and he comes over, I explain our experience in a calm manner he NEVER apologizes makes excuses talking about when they are busy they give patrons an hour to dine. I could not believe my eyes, I dismissed him as he was very flippant and could care less about our concerns as I have been a paying customer of this establishment for years and have been there when they have super busy and I've never seen them ask anyone who is still actively eating to wrap it up. AND ON TOP OF THAT THEY WERE NOT BUSY. When we left, there was an empty table outside and a table inside where they could have been seated. I said all this to say I'll never go back and spend a dime! And I'll be sure to let everyone know how raggedy and egregious we were treated and recommend another establishment. read more

First I'd like to say that I was a loyal customer for a few years, having eaten inside a few times but getting "To Go " the majority of the time. I'd never had any problems until today. Sunday 7/16/2023 with 3 digit temperature in Pasadena. I called my order in, arrived in the time frame I was told my order would be ready, went inside and paid for my order and was told by the cashier/ manager my order would be ready in a few minutes and would I wait outside? I waited outside for about 5 minutes as the heat seemed to get hotter! I went inside and spotted an order being packed to go. The Cashier/Manager walked from the back and told me it's ( my order) coming out. I told him it's hot outside so I will wait for my order. There were no other people around the cashier/pick up area or waiting outside!! The Cashier told me I would have to wait outside because if he let me wait, he's have to let everyone else wait! I asked was my order coming out? He said yes but wait outside. I told him I wasn't waiting outside as it's super hot AND my order is ready. After a brief exchange of back and forth the Cashier said he didn't t have to serve me. I ended up getting my money ($51.27) back in disbelief at how a "less than a minute wait" inside the air conditioned place would turn so ugly! I guess both of our male egos played a part but seeing as my food was being packed to go.... Made very little sense not to allow me to wait! The reyn has lost a customer! Although I'm not a fan of sweets, it looked so good, I had to try some. It was delicious. I ordered corned beef hash and eggs, with home fries. Pretty standard, pretty good. We shared the banana bread, which seems to be a popular item in the reviews and the had the words "Banana Bread" printed largely on the walls, so we assumed it had to be pretty special.
