This is a really solid spot on the Ringling grounds. Very clean aesthetic, put your name in for the wait-list, they'll give you a call and you're free to meander the beautiful Ringling museum grounds while you wait for your table. Reasonably priced menu overall with a full bar on offer. Grapefruit Ricky is definitely tasty and refreshing. They've got a few hot teas to offer, and it was a bit on the chilly side (for Florida) so we all nabbed some hot black tea that had lemon peel spicing it up. The tomato, goat cheese stuffed peppadew pepper salad was okay - tomatoes weren't great. All the other elements came together nicely. The flatbread of the day was a real nice and thin pepperoni, was like a super thin Brooklyn style pizza more than a flatbread - definitely a nice bite. Had a really solid veggie panini, well seasoned, veggies weren't soggy, and had nice crunch. Paired well with the cheese, and the bread was nice and crisp! If I could give 0 I would. No one answers the phones now, have called for a week with no reply! When I went there they said they didn't have a phone?? What?? Hostess was so confused about how to seat. Waitress came after 15 minutes which was ridiculous. Food was ok, nothing I would ever go back for. Had to glad server down for check, would have walked out but I'm in hospitality myself and would not do that. Whoever is running this circus needs help or a pink slip. I think this place is trying to be too fancy. Hard to get a simple meal here. Everything has something "extra" added. For my side salad the waitress asked if I liked it particular dressing, but never told me it was gonna have feta cheese in it, which I cannot eat at all. I never saw the waitress again until the very end. I couldn't even get my coffee refilled. My sister enjoyed her roast beef dip, and I had the chicken Panini, which is a bit messy with all the sauce they added to it. read more

It's a real luxury to have a quality, aspirational dining opportunity a short walk from the theater/ballet. However, our meal fell far short of a high quality dining experience. Our party of four shared a flatbread appetizer thst looked good but tasted "peculiar"--all four of us in agreement. Two of our party of four ordered the salad nicoise which appeared different that any salad nicoise any of us had ever seen--featuring sushi-size pieces of a dark dark red tuna that were a bit off-putting. The one standout was a delicious & generous sized Lobster Roll (available either Connecticut ir Maine style. The wine selections were varied but of low quality; the Merlot was sickeningly sweet & sent back; the replacement Pinot Noir barely an improvement. Service was adequate, if a bit insincere. If you are local, do yourself a favor and buy the annual grounds pass, then you can stop in here anytime, walk around the beautiful gardens, and then come to the Ringling Grillroom with a friend. We stopped by the Grillroom for lunch while visiting the Ringling Museum and gardens. We requested a table outside, and the hostess seated us after a short wait. The restaurant's terrace overlooked a small lake and the beautiful Ringling gardens beyond. We ordered a blackened salmon entree and steamed triggerfish. Both were outstanding, with just the right balance of moisture and flakiness. The steamed vegetables served with the triggerfish presented a pleasant variety of flavors and textures. We shared one serving of creme brulee for dessert, which was more than sufficient for the two of us and done expertly. We live about 100 miles away and visit Sarasota on occasion. We'll keep this restaurant in mind for the future. read more

I had high hopes for this place given its location being on the grounds of the Ringling museum. Unfortunately we left very disappointed. The service was mediocre and the food was bland. This place isn't super expensive but for the price I would expect it to be better. I ordered the scallops with risotto to which the risotto had almost no flavor, and my husband ordered the cheeseburger that came with fries. The cheeseburger was tasty, but my husband sent back his french fries and asked for a better looking portion. What he originally received, looked like it was the bottom of the bag scraps. The refire on the fries wasn't that much better. Overall for an Easter brunch I'd hoped for a better experience but oh well. We won't be back. The extra star was just for the view of the ponds. After going around the entire museum, me and my bestie were feeling very hot and hungry so we headed to The Ringling Grillroom. The interior is very clean and nice and our waitress was so sweet and attentive. She called us "honey" and "sweetheart" and was very fast and efficient at her job. It was one of the best experiences I've had in a restaurant in a while. Amazing customer service!! Our waitress was very informative and told us their specials which we both ordered. It was soooo good. Very flavorful and seasoned just right. The presentation was impressive as well. They had a bowl of a few crackers and poured the soup into the bowl right in front of me! It kept the crackers nice and crunchy and I loved that. And the creme brûlée! The best creme brûlée I've EVER had. I would come back just for the dessert. The top layer was so sweet and crunchy and the bottom layer was so smooth and yummy. Personally not a fan of raspberry but it paired really nicely with the creme brûlée. read more

I had a reservation for 4 people after the Summer Circus. 2 adults and 2 children yet children's menus were not available and hostess had to go print some out which wasted about 15 mins. wait staff came to fill water but only filled 3 of the 4 glasses then walked away. we ordered 2 appetizers that took awhile. when the food finally came the fries were burnt and the snapper specialty that I ordered looked dry over cooked and I was worried I would get sick from it. For $30 a plate I would expect a lot more. I have eaten there before but many years ago and it was wonderful. our waitress acted as if it was her first day but really the whole staff from start to finish let us down. we will not return to eat there again. read more

We thought the food was very good and recommend this restaurant for that reason. HOWEVER, I must strongly complain about their reservation system. I appreciate that they want to have guests reserve their table through the OpenTable app. Unfortunately the day I tried to do this my computer would not take my information on the very last click. It told me "system failure." Instead I found the restaurant's phone number to call. Sounds good, right? No, not right! I left my name and contact number three different times with NO call-back. The next day, still no call-back! If that is the way they do business, then the answering machine message should indicate that one can only book reservations through OpenTable and indicate that no one will be calling back EVER! We had a very poor experience here during the Christmas holidays. The waiter wasn't wearing a mask so we asked him if he had been vaccinated. He got irate and told us it was "illegal to ask him that in Florida." The manager came over and told us the same thing and if we mentioned it again, he would ask us to leave. Since there were 7 of us, we didn't want a scene and wanted to eat, we stayed. The good wasn't even good. The burger was thin with a portobello mushroom on it. It was gross. Went to summer circus at Ringling yesterday and had lunch at their Grillroom. The Ahi Salad was wonderful. I was a solo elderly diner. EVERY member of the staff treated me with such care and attention even though the dining room was crowded. This is the BEST dining experience I have had since moving to Sarasota 7 months ago. Location is great, white tablecloth and modern. Very friendly, clean and great service! Food was fresh, but it left a little to desire. Calamari fritti was soggy, French fries too. Lamb on the wrap was tough. Menu has potential, fry at the right temp and soak up the excess before serving. Panini bread is way to over seasoned, the spinach wrap was actually good except the lamb, tough and bitter due to the spice mix, as mentioned above. Not sure how this place is rated so high... went here before a show at the theatre next door. Manager almost lost her mind over the idea of us expecting to be able to come in at 6:20 when they close at 7... ordered a drink, bartender forgot to come back and take our food order, then the same manager wanted to not let us order food cause it was now 6:40... got a salad and flat bread that were actually good.... We ate ate their grill room restaurant. Denise was rude and lied to my wife. We were the first customers at 11am. Denise tried to seat us at a bad two person table in a bad spot. My wife asked for a window seat but Denise told my wife that they had so many four person reservations that she could not seat a party of two at a four person table near the window. The proof that Denise lied to us was when no parties of four came the entire time we were there. Plus the younger hostess would automatically seat parties of two at the four person table near the window without the customers even asking. Also, the soup was cold. Decent food at the Ringling, nice atmosphere with white tablecloths (common at museums for some reason), but super awkward when the server handed me the pos terminal and instructed me to add the gratuity while waiting next to me. This is not the type of terminal that is left with a customer, but appeared to be just a wireless credit card machine that should stay at a desk. The restaurant needs to update their technology or just do it the traditional way by handling the transaction on paper. Frankly, the contract provider Metz should know better. I think this is a good example of how a restaurant will make good food, but the service aspect is just an unstudied toss up. CFA has better controls in place. read more

Used to be a nice restaurant when it was Muse but has gone violently downhill. Decor stripped away, menu poor. Took away the Beyond burger, their only good vegetarian option (though even in the old incarnation you had to beg them not to overcook every ounce of flavor out of it). Sad. For the record, I'm leaving this review after my third visit. My first two visits went really well which is why I'm giving this two stars. Third visit, if we want to call it that, went like this. I was browsing the menu by the host's stand since there was a line of people ahead of me. As I was alternating between menu and staying in line, neither of the two hostesses greeted me or acknowledged my presence. While still in line, I then see two older ladies walking past me to the host's stand and they were then greeted and then asked about how many were in their party. One of the hostesses went to look for a table and they were sat immediately. Another host walks up and finally greeted me, even after the second host was still at the stand. This was after I had to walk past them to peek into the bar area. I asked if I could sit at the bar, which she stated was full and a second host stated that it was FCFS. I said okay and then she stated that I could walk around until something opens up. I was fine with that, but I honestly did not want to dine there anymore after being largely ignored and passed over despite still being in line. This was a large contrast from my first two visits where a single host was able to graciously greet me and made me feel welcome. I even told them that I would start to recommend dining there based on my experiences, but now I'm not too sure about that. To their credit it was a hectic day, but I am still disappointed based on this experience alone. read more

This little gem is located at the Ringling museum. I will start by saying you need to make a reservation if you plan to go. They are quite rude if you do not have a reservation. The food here was delicious. We had the crispy Sicilian calamari for an appetizer and the sweet chili sauce that went with it was perfect. It had just the amount of sweetness to add to the calamari. For dinner, we both had the steak, grilled center cut fillet. Unfortunately I had to send mine back three different times because they could not get the cook right on the meat. I requested medium the first time -it came out rare, the second time, it came out well done and the third time, they gave me a new steak which again was rare and then they cut it in half and cooked it to a little over medium. By the end of it I was done sending my steak back. The potatoes and asparagus were delicious and cooked perfectly. My husband, who got his steak medium rare, also had to send his back because it was raw in the middle. The wait staff was not very pleasant and they were not very attentive that is the reason it's getting four stars instead of five once the food was cooked properly it tasted amazing. read more

We started with the tasty crab cake which had some some nice large lump meat. I had one of the pastas and my fiancé had the salmon. Both very good! I recently attended a performance at the HAT, a NYC based comedy that turned into a comedy of errors. I had read in the Observer that there was a new place for wine before the show so I arrived early. When I ask the usher where the wine was...she excitedly informed me NO WINE IN THE THEATER! Yes, I know I responded but I read there was wine before the show and a second Usher very kindly but miss in formed tells me, "right around the corner sir, the Ringling Grillroom has wine". So off I went, as I peeked in the restaurant it was packed, but luckily, so I thought, the bar was empty. I take my seat, and begin to wait. Ten minutes later, a server comes behind the bar, and tells me "we are closed"! The restaurant is full I said, the Usher told me to come in for wine. "I can give you a glass of wine to go" - the wine just like the service was indeed cold and crisp in my $15 to go plastic cup. With no where actually to go, I wondered with my plastic cup back outside to try to enjoy some sense of what was suppose to be a loving evening of art and entertainment. And there is the front side of the building was hidden away, in a lovely courtyard the "HAT" wine bar! The show was fabulous, but both the Grillroom and the HAT can do better! read more

EVERYTHING was absolutely delicious and paired well with our meal. The caesar salad was one of the best I've ever had, the crab cakes were mostly crab meat with very little binder, and the farro risotto was the perfect texture served with the tender filet mignon.
