Really cool coffee shop in the Dalles. It's an old church converted to coffee shop and cafe. Got the breakfast sandwich and coffee. They have a special in the morning where the combo is super cheap. Really neat seating area inside. Service was great.

We were looking for a breakfast spot on our way home from Portland. We saw the Riv and decided to five it a try. We were surprised to find it was a renovated church in a darling neighborhood. We had the avocado toast and eggs Benedict. The bread was delicious!! It tasted a bit sweet but delicious! The benedict was good althought the eggs were a bit over cooked and the holladaise was a bit too thin. The service was friendly and competent. We liked the feel of the restaurant and were actually surprised it wasn't busier than it was. It's a cute little spot with good food. I had been hoping for a restaurant where we would be seated and order this is more of a self serve spot.

BLT and a shared bite of the chicken and waffles - both great!

Sweet breakfast/lunch spot tucked away in a local neighborhood. Ambiance of the converted church adds to the allure. You order at the counter and the food came out fast and hot. I liked my vege eggs Benedict with spinach/green onion on thick toast they said came from La Petite Provence downtown. Hubby had big order of french toast. I'd like to come back when we could sit outside in a charming looking courtyard.

I know avocado toast is a common option, but holy smokes this was hands down the best avo toast I've ever had. The crust of the bread was soft enough for a fork, and the cucumber on it was sooooo tasty! I got a vanilla latte which was a perfect pair. We sat outside in the patio, and it's such a cool space. We had a table with shade and sunshine, I'll definitely be back if I'm in town again. Service was attentive, kind and checked in regularly!

This place was fun to be work from. They open really early and they have food after 8am. I had a latte made to order and the coffee was very smooth and perfectly brewed. I had a fried chicken and it was very tasty and filling. If you are starving this is the place to go for lunch. The gent working behind the counter was very friendly and had a great personality to work with their guests. He was very friendly, counter and very efficient even when they had a wait. The best part of the experience is the building. It is very spacious, welcoming and warm. This place for sure it is a great spot.

There are no words except, Take Me To Church! I love the history of the place and how there's been a revival. Phenomenal breakfast. Exceptional coffee beverages. I could stay and pray all day. I ate every last bite of the chicken and waffles. Can I get an Amen!!

Food is wonderful! My favorite is the Harvest Bagel! A cute cafe in an old church building with lots of light and small town feel, a must!

Definitely got the small town diner feel here, and everything on the menu sounded so good! They also have a specials board inside so make sure to take a look before you make your decision. I finally decided on the south of the border omelette, which also comes with hash browns or potatoes or fruit, and a biscuit or muffin or toast. Such a satisfying and filling meal! The omelette itself was not short on ingredients at all, and I loved the cilantro. The menu did mention homemade salsa but I didn't see any of that on the side or inside. Other than that, the eggs were cooked nicely. I picked the chorizo biscuit on the side and it was so soft and fluffy inside! I also appreciated the amount of options on the kids menu. There was plenty more options than just your standard pancake, bacon, and eggs. Our kids loved the pigs in a blanket which was actually quite big and perfect for our two kids to split. Service was awesome, our server was so kind and even brought out our friend's son's maple bar with a candle because he mentioned it was his birthday. She did it without us even asking which was so sweet! The food came out so quickly too despite the entire restaurant being full. Great experience here at Bette's!

This is the definition of a little country hole in the wall. Tons of locals there, relative small, but with friendly service and really good food! Like seriously, good burgers! The five of us split a total of four burgers, including a mushroom, Swiss, a bacon burger, and the James burger, which was a bacon cheeseburger with an egg on top. The James is one of the better burgers I've ever tasted! We also noted how delicious the tater tots were! I'm not generally one to gush over the accoutrements, but these were magnificent. The fries are also quite good. We were told that they will be under new management soon, but it is apparently staying in the family. This is an absolute must hit if you're in the area!

They seemed to have a light but steady amount of patrons that morning. Plenty of parking, and a good location right on the 14 in Lyle. My husband went inside to place our order. We ordered two fairly basic breakfast platters: eggs, hash browns, and pancakes for me...eggs, bacon, browns, and toast for him. The food was prepped decently fast, and the service was cordial. The portions were fair. The pancakes were huge, but pretty heavy so I could only get through about 1/3. The food was cooked to order and good...an average breakfast I would say...maybe nothing to do cartwheels about, but certainly satisfying.

We all got different sandwiches and every single one of us loved what we got. Wasn't too busy on a Friday morning, plenty of open seating. They did have pastries as well but did not partake. Ordered the bagel and lox which was amazing- came with all the fixings such as tomatoes, capers & red onions. The salmon was fresh and the bagel was nice and toasty, just the way I prefer. Got to taste the sandwich with the jam and loved it. Kind of wish I got that sandwich instead just cause of the jam. The bread was really good too- I think they were homemade english muffins. Everything on the sandwich was just chef's kiss! All of the employees were really nice. The place was clean as you have to "buss" your own table. Glad that people can follow directions. I usually go with the turkey which has turkey, white cheddar, tomato, pickles, onion, lettuce, and hot mustard. It was a bit spicier than I would have liked, not that it was too hot, but that flavor was really dominant for me so I'd probably modify it a bit in the future or just build my own . My daughter loved her ham sandwich which comes with sprouts, avocado, and cucumber. My husband also really liked his Italian and their clam chowder. This place is definitely worth a stop if you are hungry in the Gorge!
