Our experience when we visited after vday was so good that we came back but it was a disappointing experience this time. Everyone was nice like before but the sushi was not good. We reordered the Edgewater Maki like we had last time but it was burnt on a lot of parts and inedible. We had to send it back and we were not sure if we could order another or not. I had to ask because they just left us there with no order put in. The next sushi we got was the Crispy Rice and it was made a lot better and flavorful. When we received the bill the first sushi was charged and I had to remind them that we had an issue. Crab cakes were delicious though!

Love this restaurant! Conveniently valet parking, hostess and servers are all welcoming. The cocktails are amazing, sushi, steak, apps, and desserts are all delicious. The inside is warm and cozy, with dim lighting. Highly recommended!

My family and I have been fans of River Palm since they first opened. We always find an excuse to dine here and consistently have a wonderful experience. I recently visited again after not having been there for a few years, and the experience exceeded my expectations. Despite it being an early Monday evening, the restaurant was busy and every table was filled, which speaks to its continued popularity. The service was excellent, the drinks were well made, and the food was outstanding. The Andy Roll was fresh and flavorful, the steak was perfectly tender, and the fried onions made for a delicious side dish. River Palm has certainly maintained its high standards and reputation over the years. Looking forward to returning again soon!

finally got to try out river palm terrace & I think it lived up to its hype for the most part! we had to try the sushi as it's so highly recommended in the reviews. in my opinion, the fish was ver fresh and tasty, but the rolls itself were sort of mushy and could fall apart. i'd go back and try another roll just to see if the texture is a consistent thing or if they were just off the night we ate there. the steak we got was perfectly crispy & still juicy on the inside. chicken parm was nicely cooked and came with a side of pasta that was perfectly al dente. our fries were nothing to rave about but they came on a nice big plate, definitely worth sharing. our server kept reminding us to leave room for dessert, and i'm glad we did! we got the chocolate cake for 2 which was HUGE and delicious, and the graham slam gelato which was honestly my highlight of the night. not sure if this is the norm there, but the restaurant was significantly packed on a sunday evening. our server kept disappearing to handle other tables which is totally fine, but we were kept waiting for long periods of time when we needed them. however whenever they came around, their service was top notch and very friendly. it's just really busy in there.

Cozy, old school steakhouse in Edgewater! Love this place, 5/5. The vibe is warm, energetic, and inviting. We got a nice booth in the main dining room and, one of the servers, Anthony, was already waiting there to greet us. We had a bunch of menu questions and Anthony was helpful and responsive. The service throughout the evening was excellent. The food was amazing, each dish was better than the last. For my drink, I got a maple bacon Manhattan, it was delicious and had actual bacon in the beverage which was a nice touch. We got the colossal crab meat cocktail as a starter. Then from the daily menu, we got the Ribeye for two and acorn squash. For dessert, the chocolate banana cream pie. Everything was so so good! Highly recommend this spot for special nights, I will definitely be back!

We had a great dinner at The River Palm Terrace. The sushi was unbelieve and my favorite part (Alpine Maki), one of the best rolls I've ever had. Our others apps were delicious too (French Onion Soup and Thick Cut Bacon). The two steaks were good, my husband's was better than my Filet, I wish it had more flavor. He liked the bone-in rib-eye. Our drinks were great and the creme brulee was fantastic. Our server was short with us at fist but then she opened up and was really nice towards the end. We will be back to try other things!

We love the steak here! It's on our top 5 list, including steakhouses in the city. We had the porterhouse, cooked medium, creamed spinach and garlic mashed potatoes. Also got the shallot butter and au poivre sauce on the side. Loved the au poivre. I also love the flaky salt that they offer you to add as you please on your steak. The creamed spinach I would not order again, but everything else was perfect. I think adding some fontina or parm cheese to the creamed spinach would give the side dish exactly what it needs to make it great. Service was pretty good. We did have to look around for our waitress for about 15 minutes before being able to order, but otherwise she was pretty on top of it. In the past, we didn't have to wait for a server, they were constantly checking if we needed anything. Ambience: old-school steakhouse/good place to eat lunch or dinner with your family. Lots of families celebrating birthdays, couples having dinner, or friend groups meeting up- all ages. They offered three seating rooms. One upstairs, which is quieter. And two dining options, downstairs, one in the bar, and similar dining to upstairs on the main floor, but louder than the upstairs room. Definitely will return. Don't hesitate, book River Palm! And yes, you normally need a reservation

It may be hard to believe, but this was my first dining experience at the River Palm Terrace. I've heard so many great things from friends and relatives. My friend and I went during lunch time. There is valet parking available for lunch and dinner hours. I was impressed with the extensive menu including specials. I ordered the 8oz. filet mignon. This came with an onion ring, baked potatoes, and string beans. My meal was cooked to my liking. I also enjoyed the variety of sauces. We additionally ordered the tuna, grilled octopus, and spicy Hugo spritzes. Lastly, the coconut cake was a summer special dessert. It was delicious! The cake paired with a cappuccino was a perfect way to end our lunch. Friendly staff and excellent service.

Theres no reason to rate this spot anything but a 5/5 stars. The food was phenomenal, with an array of selections and a menu that would even make a diner blush. What we got: Fair-lawn Maki: 10/10 Manhattan Maki: 10/10 Clams Casino: 11/10 Coconut Shrimp: 10/10 Prime Dry aged Porterhouse for Two: 30/10 The Desserts: 15/10 Amazing service from our waiter Joe with a great (dimly lit) ambiance. I cannot wait to come back and try the rest of the menu!

I have always wanted to try this place. I used to have to go to the Englewood hospital every week for 6 months and I passed this place every time. I would say to my husband, "we should go there!". Well, I finally went this past Christmas Eve for dinner with my family. It was a madhouse! So packed! (Good for them!) We had a 7pm reservation and when we arrived there were at least 5 other parties standing around the host stand waiting to be seated. We were seated about 10min after 7, which is fine, especially when it's so crowded. We were given a nice booth. Our server was a very friendly young woman who seemed to be running at 100mph! I am always amazed at those kind of servers. Now for the disappointing part, the food. I had heard good things from friends, so I didn't think I'd have to worry about the food. Our steak was a bit over cooked and pretty tough. We asked for the most melt-in-your-mouth cut of steak they have and this was what she recommended. We ordered it medium rare and there were only a few dark pink pieces. And it was seared a little too much on top. The sushi was also a miss. I guess I should have expected that at a steak place, but again, people recommended it. The sushi was just very American. I thought it was going to be high quality fish and cut well. It was like any fast-food sushi place in the us. The cocktails were good and strong though!

Absolutely fabulous experience, from the food to the service, and the drinks. This is an all around top notch dining experience and I highly recommend it. Steaks are cooked perfectly, large seafood selection as well and some of the most beautiful looking sushi I saw going past my table. French onion soup truly one of the best, not salty at all, just delicious. What's so great about this restaurant they have a price point for everyone. Dinner menu is priced like any other high end steakhouse but their lunch menu is incredibly priced. Desserts are made in house, they have their own baker... highly recommend chocolate banana cream pie... outstanding.

My boyfriend and I recently celebrated his birthday at The River Palm Terrace and we had a wonderful dining experience. The atmosphere was comfortable and inviting and our wait staff was attentive and friendly throughout the evening. While a couple of menu items were unavailable...the staff handled everything professionally and offered great alternatives. We stared with a pitcher of the Sangria which was perfect! My boyfriend originally ordered the prime rib but our waitress returned to let us know that only one boneless cut piece remained. He instead chose the T-bone, which was cooked to perfection and ended up being an excellent choice. We had also planned to order the zucchini blossoms but they had sold out for the evening so I opted for the lobster bisque instead. It was rich, flavorful and absolutely delicious. For my entrée I enjoyed the filet mignon with hash browns both prepared beautifully. We also shared the otoro crispy rice sushi, which was incredibly fresh and full of flavor. To top off the birthday celebration we ordered the Banana Nutella cake. The portion was very generous and the dessert was delicious & the perfect ending to a memorable meal. They even sang Happy Birthday! Despite a few items being unavailable the outstanding service, excellent food and welcoming atmosphere made for a special birthday dinner. We look forward to returning!

Met my son here tonight. This place brings you back in time . Warm and inviting with celebrity pics all over . Started with Rockefeller oysters wow so fresh and juicy. Eggplant rollentini was great nice and crispy with nice filling . I ordered the rib eye. Came with mash potatoes and snap peas. It was lunch so it wasn't a thick piece. It was nice and charred but it was very thin. Was very enjoyable. Wife has a fish sandwich. Crispy outside and tender inside. Open steak sandwich was amazing. Fillet mignon laid over bread We had to try their homemade chocolate banana cream pie . Omg it was really amazing. Creamy and stacked . Eddie was our waiter he was really great. Knowledgeable and helped us through the menu. Place is very dark and loud but that's the charm of it. Valet parking makes it easy. Definitely will come back for dinner. Lunch pretty reasonable

The River Palm Terrace Reviews in Other Languages

Ask the Community - The River Palm Terrace

Is there parking at location or nearby?

You may be able to park on the residential street next to the restaurant but you'd have to check the sign. I valet.

    Is this place kid friendly?

Earlier in the day yes, at night it's more of an adult place.

Are they seriously charging $5 for a salad that comes with an entree now even if you don't want it or order it?

Yes, they are charging $5 for the used-to-be "free" salad. No, you are not obligated to order it. The waiters ask if you want salad when they take your order.

Do they charge extra if you bring a cake for a birthday celebration?

I asked them as I am sitting here... not at lunch but at dinner.

How is parking in this area? I looked on maps and did not see parking structures within walking distance. Does the restaurant have its own lot for guests? If street parking is it typically hard to find parking and is it metered?

The establishment has valet parking. You don't have to worry about parking.

Can men come in with jeans and a button down?

Absolutely! That is what my male friends wear.

Do they still have outdoor seating?

    No there isn't

I have a reservation for weekend lunch, T-bone steak is not available at lunch?

You can order it off of the dinner menu. My husband orders steak dinner all the time while I eat off the lunch menu

Do they allow You to bring your own wine with corkage fee?

You don't need to, they have an amazing liquor and wine menu.

I made a reservation and they said it would be "upstairs". Is this good?

Depends what you like. Downstairs definitely busier and more of a trendy bar atmosphere. Upstairs white table cloths, quiet.

Is the outside dining section heated?

I WOULD NOT EAT HERE AGAIN IF IT WAS THE LAST RESTAURANT OPEN! ITS HORRIBLE!!!!!!

What is the ambience in the tent outside and is it hot under the tent? Also is there loud music? Is it romantic at all?

The ambience was beautiful and refreshing reminded me of a romantic night in Paris

Someone told me they have a special lunch menu. Is this correct?

Yes they do have a lunch menu and I think it’s priced moderately compared to dinner.

How much is an average bill for 2?

    $160 + tax + tip

Would anyone recommend this restaurant or is Ruth's Chris better?

Hope this helps, I took my wife there recently we ordered the porterhouse for two, hash brown casserole, creamed spinach, two 7oz stone crab claws, both had a coke. No alcohol. The bill came to $215 which is an average price for a nice steak house…

    Can you bring outside wine?

Unfortunately, we are unable to serve any outside brought wine.

I was able to make reservations at the last minute on a Sat night despite July being a very touristy month in the city. We ordered Escargot, crispy artichokes, french onion soup, the duck and the steak au poive, all of which were excellent (the duck was very nice). Despite the variety of wine available we were enjoying cocktails and our water glasses were constantly refilled. The service was very good as well and the maitre d was also very pleasant. Conclusion- disappointed, as it's 5 years past its prime, as its last Michelin Bib Gourmand (2021) sign had proven prophetic. Pros- the only non-French menu item off the lunch menu, the burger with fries, was one of the tastiest I had anywhere in sometime. Would have been perfect had I ordered it medium rare, instead of medium. One plus is the decent portion size, for both main entrees and appetizers. Cons- all the other French menu items can use room(s) for improvement. Starting with the mussels bowl, although very flavorful, mussels were a bit overcooked, and it can use a bit more butter, and one less pinch of salt in flavoring. Next, the Escargot appetizer can use more flavoring, and the tuna tartare was way too bland, definitely needs more salt, pepper, and whatever other seasoning to enhance its flavor. Service- server attitude was decent; however, the wait times for food for both appetizers & main entrees were way too long, especially given the fact it's a rainy weekday mid-afternoon and there were only 2 other tables of diners. Given its past glory, and fact there are several other Amelies chain locations in NYC, perhaps the owner(s) of this establishment can take my constructive comments to heart?

The calamari was probably the thinnest squid in the ocean and looked like shoestring fries, but the sauce it came in was delicious. There were approximately three zucchini sticks and four peppers in the calamari, which is on par with many restaurants, but less bang for your buck. It eventually became clear after another 10 min wait that our truffle fries were nowhere to be seen, and since we had to leave for our dinner reservation soon we struggled to flag a server, who then told us that they never put in our fries order. We obviously did not ask them to start making it for us, instead asking for the bill and then leaving. I wish I liked this place more than I did, but the service and staff here were so slow and hard to flag down it felt like we spent our entire meal looking around.

The restaurant's open dining area, featuring a soaring skylight, creates an inviting atmosphere that enhances the culinary journey. At the heart of this establishment is Chef Florian V. Hugo, a native of Provence, France, and a direct descendant of the renowned novelist Victor Hugo. I first met Florian at his other Resturant only on its last night for the best taco of my life l was lucky to have his duck tonight. Chef Hugo's personal engagement with us added a touch to the evening. His passion for cooking and dedication to excellence were evident as he discussed the inspiration behind our experience. The menu showcases Chef Hugo's mastery of French culinary techniques, featuring dishes that are both innovative and deeply rooted in tradition. The seared duck breas was cooked to perfection, offering a tender and flavorful experience. Everything was prepared with a focus on fresh, high-quality ingredients. The beverage program is equally impressive, with a curated selection of wines and cocktails The service was amazingly attentive. The food was spectacular. This is my now go to when in NY period

The Restaurant With No Food…read more This was honestly one of the funniest experiences of my adult life. The ambiance was amazing but it took 2.5 hours to be served 4 incomplete courses of a $350 prefixe meal on Valentines Day. The food was good but the portions were so small that my girlfriend and I could not stop laughing. By the time we received two of the three deserts I paid for, after not receiving on of the "snacks" and one of the "appetizers", we were in tears with laughter. The waitstaff was very polite, even though they had almost nothing to serve. The C Battery sized scallop cannoli appetizers (which tasted amazing) arrived in an oversized clamshell on top of a napkin, on a tea saucer, in a bowl! A for effort on the presentation but it definitely was overkill. We never got the Red Snapper and broth. The Lamb Wellington (again, tasted amazing) couldn't fill your imagination. The apple tart (about the size of a Reeses Peanut Butter Cup) also tasted amazing. However, it came with a 2 foot apple peel fruit roll up as a garnish which tasted great but after such a long wait for food, I couldn't help but yell out "this better not be paper!" Most people would be furious but this truly felt like an episode of Seinfeld. Kramer trying to explain to George how it was about the experience. George yelling "but there was no food!". Jerry going "eh, ya kinda need food if you're gonna call yourself a restaurant!" Elaine agreeing with Jerry. Several couples walked out after sitting at a table for over an hour with just drinks. Some tables were fortunate enough to have enough money to splurge on the $6 bread basket that was not included in the price. We laughed so hard at the entire affair that we didn't even mind being held hostage for two and a half hours. To top it off, we were given two complimentary glasses of champagne. My girlfriend is allergic to champagne and the waiter walked away so fast he didn't even hear me say it. Needless to say, I do not recommend this place if you're hungry or have plans after.

A friend and I chose to experience the Restaurant Week lunch special since neither of us had been to this restaurant before. We sat at the bar and decided to go for the $19 lunch special they serve Monday - Friday instead. We had alot of staff servicing us. Even though we sat at the actual bar, we had a floor server attending to us as well as the bar staff. We even met the manager, Tiffany, as she introduced herself to us and made sure we were taken care of properly. The UWS location is huge. It is about 2/3rds of a North/South block with an enclosed patio built in the front of the restaurant. The bar is simply beautiful. It is half inside and half on the sidewalk also semi enclosed. I did not walk around the inside of the restaurant but I did see there were alot of mirrors and a darker interior. Bar was filled with liquor on the walls and gave it a modern day saloon feel. Very comfortable and inviting. We ordered drinks initially. They were carefully crafted and tasty on a hot summer day. I ordered the Waldorf Salad lunch special and my friend had the Spicy Chicken Sandwich. I must say the portions are large. They make sure you do not leave hungry! :) Both entrees came with soup and a second side. I had the biscuit and honey/maple butter. Oh my was it heavenly. My friend was super satisfied with her sandwich. It looked like a meal fit for a Queen! All of the food was seasoned well. While we were still enjoying our meal the bar changed from lunch to happy hour service. My friend decided to order the Margarita flight. It came with three flavored margaritas for a mere $12. I tried the Spicy Brine Margarita and it will now be the only drink I have for future visits. So delicious and flavorful. We were having such a great time as the bar filled with patrons and we spoke with our neighbors. At this time one of our servers brought us a complimentary pretzel. It was the star of the show from presentation to taste I would recommend anyone to try it. The bathrooms are unisex. By the time I needed to use it the restaurant was crowded and so it needed to be serviced. The stall I utilized had a strong urine smell and needed a proper cleaning. Management might consider placing air fresheners in each stall to at least give the illusion of cleanliness. This restaurant raised the bar for hospitality! The service was top notch as well as the food and atmosphere. If you have not tried this place I highly suggest that you do. It is a 100 out of 10 establishment for NYC! My gratitude goes out to all of the wait staff and bartenders that made our experience so wonderful.

Brunch at Jacob's Pickles is a real treat. I ordered the coleslaw with pickles as a side, it was delicious. The breakfast platter was absolutely massive and overall good, a bit salty for me, and the biscuit was a bit soft. But the grits were delightful. I sat at the bar, so the service was fine, though not particularly memorable. What I loved most was the patio: it's partially open and partially enclosed, letting you enjoy plenty of natural light while staying cool in the air conditioning. It gives you the feeling of dining outdoors without the noise or wind from the street. The interior design is beautiful and adds so much to the experience. I definitely recommend checking this place out. I'll certainly be back to try more of the menu!
