First of all, it is credit card debit card only no cash accepted. Food is very expensive. I had a tepid clam chowder for $17 The waitress complained about the people that come to see foliage when the whole reason this place exists is because people come to see the foliage. she came back and practically dropped the food on our saying it was piping hot when it was actually tepid. [[HIGHLIGHT]]One positive thing was the location it was absolutely beautiful[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]]

HERE FOR THE (MOUNTAINTOP) VIEWS. Overhyped and underwhelming. The food is subpar (previously frozen fried / processed foods) and overpriced. Very disappointing. Better off having just a hot chocolate! So you get here by taking the Gondola ONLY. It's a nifty spot to stop in for an apres skii but that's it, IMO. We needed to check it out (as tourists) for the views, but it is 100% a tourist trap. It's also super packed (as expected), so definitely need to make reservations. They only sit you down and then tell you to get up and place your order (and pay) at the counter. The food is brought over to you at least. I wouldn't say avoid at all costs, BUT no high expectations for a delectable dining experience. And they are only open for lunch!

View from our seat. On a clear day this would be amazing! It was still pretty impressive even with the haze & heavy snow!

On the top of the mountain! [[HIGHLIGHT]]I'm sure the views are amazing... But it was snowing and very hazy the day we were there.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] The food was so good and the service was great!

One of those places you check out for the experience over anything else. The views are AMAZING, especially in the winter. After skiing for a couple hours, a couple buddies and I decided to grab a drink at Cliff House and we were thankfully seated immediately without a reservation (definitely make a reservation in advance though!! The restaurant fills up so quickly during lunch hours). For lunch, you order at the register up front and they bring the food and drinks to you. All the servers were so kind and really made this a great experience for us as well. I opted for a Stowe Cider, my favorite drink when I'm in town, and I thought it was great. Check it out when you're at Stowe! You do have the take the gondola up so it's convenient if you're mid ski or if you are not skiing and just want a relaxing lunch with great views.

The Cliff House was a wonderful addition to our family's first visit at Stowe. With part of our group lazing around the lodge and others snowboarding, the gondola ride & lunch was a perfect meet-up. We had reservations, but arrived early and the manager readily offered a choice of tables. After reading reviews prior to our visit, we'd almost cancelled and were going to only ride the gondola. Glad we didn't! The food arrived quickly and was excellent (chicken tenders were kid approved w/ mid rating). We were sure to compliment the manager that her staff provided the best service of any this week at Spruce Creek. While the prices are in line with other restaurants on property, the Cliff House team stands out with their professional mannerism and attentiveness to patrons.

The Cliff House restaurant is a staple at Stowe located just at the top of the Mansfield gondola. [[HIGHLIGHT]]Open for reservation and walk in they serve classic American fair with a full bar, amazing view and a moderate amount of seating room.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]]

We booked in advance and timed our day perfectly. We took the gondola up to the restaurant. I booked my gondola Tickets to coincide with the restaurant opening. Restaurant opens at 11 am And thank god my reservation was for 11:00 am or else I don't know when we would of eaten because this place gets busy quick. You do have to get up to get your drinks and to order your food. Your servers only job is the serve you food when it comes out of the kitchen. We had an appetizer of wings, my husband had a burger, and I had a blt. The blt came with a side salad that was very good. Our food was all around great. Food was decent for the location and they do have a four seater bar. Seating available inside and outside. If I go back to Stowe and take this gondola ride again I will come Back to cliff house!

Great staff and good food atop Mount Mansfield (4300 feet). You take the ski lift to the top at 3700 feet. Reservations way in advance are a must as the location is minuscule. They have a full bar. You go to the counter place your order and they bring it to you. We had some old fashions and the pulled burger. It's bar food at the end of the day. The views are shrouded by the clouds. Besides you really don't come here for the food, but for the views and experience. And in winter the heat! They get points for the location and staff.

This place gets 5 stars just for location, location, location!!! Food was good too! Got there early enough to hike the peak, make my reservation time, and ride the gondola back down. I ordered the wrap. It was light and refreshing!

This is the only restaurant on top of Mt Mansfield. I didn't expect much of good food based on some reviews. However, what we ordered was not bad at all. We got tacos, burger and wings. All was fresh and good. The view is worth it of course. I made a reservation early and had no problem modifying a couple of times. The host and the waitress were nice. If you plan to take sky ride, this is where you should stop for lunch. View, convenience and all. Be sure to make a reservation. They open 11-2:30. I don't think they take walk in. If yes, it's a really long wait.

[[HIGHLIGHT]]I would give a 5-star rating just for the location of this restaurant.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] [[HIGHLIGHT]]We took the gondola ride to the summit, enjoyed the view and the meal at Cliff House.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] The menu isn't extensive, but we weren't too hungry, so we were fine with what we got. I believe what we pay is for the view and not for the food. [[HIGHLIGHT]]Make sure to get a table by the window for a spectacular dining experience.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]]

The poutine was very good, but I'll grant you that it's maybe hard to get that wrong - but their gravy is on point! Service was great - got there around 5:40pm on a Wednesday, so the wait was non-existent and a table for 5 was easy to accommodate. Duncan was the server, who disclosed that he was new but you wouldn't know it from how he took orders and brought food out. Even threw him a curve by asking for the steak frites with an additional side of brussel sprouts, which he handled no problem - even though there weren't any sides I saw on the menu. Steak was medium rare and perfectly seasoned, and I think I mentioned the chimichurri but it deserves additional mention. Maybe you're wondering about beverages. The maple lemonade is great - it leans harder on the tart side and there are sweeter options around (Cliff House) but I love a lemonade that tastes... lemony. Pineapple cherry punch was also a hit - but that's secondhand hearsay, unlike my direct opinion on the chimichurri - which I would drink if I could. Definitely check this place out. The table near ours seemed to immensely enjoy their meal and also get great service from Duncan.

They use the Yelp waitlist, but I couldn't join it until we showed up to the restaurant, which was a little confusing. We ended up sitting at the counter by the wood fire, which was neat to watch. Our server (Jenn) was awesome. My drink was very pricy ($18), but it was pretty tasty. Everything was absolutely delicious - we got a Mac & cheese and 2 burgers with fries. I love that it's all farm-to-table. Would absolutely eat here again and *highly* recommend it.

Con - none of the 4 of us even liked our meals - they were inedible. We descended the narrow steep staircase into the dark dining room; outdoor seating was not open. The waitress promptly brought us menus and waters. There was a good variety of wines and we settled on the Sancerre. Charging for bread is not a good trend so $10 for 4 Parker House Rolls was disappointing. We also ordered the mussels and asiago fries. The chef seems to favor creamy white wine sauces - the added cream adds a heavy taste without adding flavor. The shrimp & sausage on mushroom ravioli had the cream sauce and cubes of sausage. The pasta primavera also had the cream sauce. It was super bland. We added chicken (see the photo of the chicken breast added to the top side of the dish not cooked in the dish). The salmon and its corresponding carrots were spiced with bebere which is very mild but not particularly enjoyable. And finally, the grilled rib-eye was bad, really bad. It was gelatinous and the worst steak we've ever had. I've only ever seen a steak cooked like this when it's cooked at too low a heat. We fed the leftover steak, chicken, and salmon to the dog.
