I really wanted to love this place. The location is stellar and the atmosphere is my kind of place. However, there was quite a wait for our order. Way longer than I would have expected. Maybe that's because it was around 9PM? I'm not sure. I ordered the salmon, and thoroughly enjoyed it. It was cooked perfectly. The other order was the chicken, and it seemed so-so but certainly very edible, just not for the price. I think Rossi is more of a hang out and have cocktails place. I will def. be back for when I'm searching for that type of place with the girlfriends! read more

We have been here multiple times and have NEVER had a bad experience! We have went during the week as well as on the weekends. We have tried many of the entrees; Pizza, Grilled Lamb Lollipops, Proscuitto Wrapped Grilled Cesar Salad have all been great! The service is always polite and helpful; we always feel welcomed. The only thing that is a downfall, that can't really be helped, is the size of the restaurant. They do not take reservations and there isn't much of a place to wait to be seated. It's in the Short North (Prime Location), so it is always heavily busy; the bar is always full, so it feels you are standing in the way of the waiters/waitresses, guests, and people walking in and out of the entrance/exit. Excellent experimental menu makes this one of the best places I had a chance to eat at in Columbus. The meat-forward menu might be a tough sell for the vegetarian set, but other than this they put forward a playful and interesting menu, that for the less adventurous offers amazing thin crust pizza. Open kitchen is a nice feature in a small place. I went to the Rossi last night and had a wonderful time. Sometimes it can get really crowded Weds-Saturday, so, going on an off night was great. We were able to sample a couple new wines and enjoyed some stellar food. We both enjoyed salads as our appetizers. I had the Chicken and it was fantastic.... My friend had the burger which looked unreal. The atmosphere is great... So happy they were able to utilize the space next door to add seating. Our server was great... Really helpful and super sweet. This was our latest destination for happy hour and I must say, it was excellent. The happy hour deals are pretty legit. Half off pizza and half off drafts and wine. I think it was half off certain apps too. I had a pepperoni pizza and the meatball to share with the table. The pizza is AWESOME. It's a pretty big pizza for the price. I believe it was $7 for the "happy hour pizza." I had to take half of it home. Thin crust with the perfect amount of sauce and toppings. I'm kind of old fashioned when it comes to my pizza toppings and sometimes a pepperoni pizza suffers but the Rossi did it right. The meatball was HUGE and came with garlic toast to dip. Great flavor, not too salty and not too much basil. Our server was okay. She got our checks messed up but she was quick to fix it and was very pleasant and attentive. The space is awesome. It's a lounge-y place with booths and low lighting with a bar at the front. We sat by the windows looking out at high street and I loved it. People watching and eating pizza. The Rossi is the perfect go-to restaurant. They have a wide variety without being overbearing and offer delicious, high quality dishes at varying price points. I can't tell you how many times my SO and I will list 20 restaurants and just decide Rossi is the best bet. The last time I ate here, we split a burger and poached rabbit legs. Both fantastic and satisfied our odd cravings of both comforting and fancy. The menu rotates seasonally, which is a huge plus. I got a duck pot pie from there last winter that was stellar! The drink menu is also pretty good but stay away from that maple bacon bourbon old-fashion, it's too sweet! All-in-all, Rossi doesn't really disappoint ever. They don't accept reservations; staff is pretty slow and not that friendly overall but I think it's part of the Rossi's "thing". Luckily the food is wonderful and worth it!!!!! The lamb lollipops are to die for .. You can get that and some fries as a meal. We also got the eggless gnocchi - yummy!! Perfect size!! The menu is always changing which is nice. Next time I want pizza because it looks good and seems to be a popular choice. The only weird thing was that we were surrounded by families with small children on a Saturday night around 8 which I found to be strange. Awesome. First impression walking in....not as fancy as I thought it would be. Very cosy, comfortable and inviting. I usually sit at the bar of a place but the chairs were WAY too close together. Take one out, put it in the basement for emergencies and let bar people be more comfortable. So we sat at a window table which was perfectly fine. We got there early so there were plenty of options but the place filled up quickly. Nice happy hour menu. I had hear a lot about the burgers so I got that with the fries. The fries were really great. The burger even more so. Juicy, thick and great flavor. This is the couple that also own El Camino Inn (love) Little Palace (just okay) Club 185 (need to get there stat) and Philco (super great place!) I'll be back. read more

One of my go-to spots. The food is great, it's open late AND on Sundays, and the service is awesome. They're super nice and helpful there. I've recently gone gluten-free for health reasons and have had to become "that" person. But it's gone better than expected in the nicer establishments in Columbus. They have been able to sub out things for me and it's all still delicious and now, healthier! But let's review some of my favorite non-gluten free stuff that's on the menu that I've had because that's what you're most likely to order: Love the french fries. Just the right crisp and texture. The ricotta meatballs were also delicious. I shared with a friend. I think we had the Burrata too but it wasn't as memorable. The golden raisin, cashew and black pepper feta salad is delicious! One of my favorite salads in town. There just aren't enough places to get a good salad though and I wish there were more but this is pretty good for something I didn't have to make at home. From the brasserie, the grilled salmon sandwich is off the hook. Loved it. Huge. Enough for two ladies to split and get a large salad and an app. I so miss it now that I can't eat bread. Have some for me, will you? We had a delicious market fish (trout, I believe) that was very nicely prepared as well. I wouldn't hesitate to order the seafood here. They always serve my favorite, salmon, perfectly medium-rare when I order it. Pizza? Well, I lived in NYC for 12 years and this is NOT New York style pizza. I'm not sure why C-bus spots feel the need to always say it's NY style when in fact, a NY slice requires it to be thin--no puff, okay?--foldable, and large. If it's good on its own merits, then great--but don't call it NY when it's obviously not. That being said, I haven't tried the pizza here yet because I've seen the pics and friends have told me if I'm expecting a NY slice, fuggedabouit! Overall: A great atmosphere for friends and food! Setting: Dinner was excellent, and I really enjoyed the atmosphere. It was busy, but not overly loud. Food: I split my lobster roll with my friend who got the daily fish special (crab tempura with a schirachi glaze). The short rib app was also very good. Service: Despite my friends' and I's indecision over what to order, the waiter was still extremely patient with us. We were seated within 10 minutes without a reservation. Located towards the north end of the short north is a definite short north staple. Quaint, sophisticated, lively, crafty, and cool; this spot fits right in with the locale theme. The menu is simple upscale american bar fair. On a positive note they seem to be open late as well, which is definitely a plus on Sunday's. Ordered: Salmon sandwich: flavor profile: 3.75/5, price: $12 The salmon sandwich is great! I ordered it because I saw another lady at the bar with the same sandwich and looked tasty. I also saw her with this same sandwich and has a side mixed salad too and assumed that what I would have gotten, too, not the case. They actually came with fries, which was a restaurant fail for me because typically sandwiches are served with fries and not salads. Nonetheless, the sandwich was delicious and the goat cheese was a nice touch. However, it was wayyy too greasy for my taste. The salmon itself is already a fatty fish, but when you add oil/butter to the toast it came on, and the heavily oiled fries on the side, it starts to look not as appetizing. I realize everyone on yelp raves about their cheeseburger and pizza, but it really is good. It's nothing that screams unique or fancy, it's just plain good food. Last time I was here I ate the Prosciutto-Wrapped Grilled Caesar (romaine lettuce, white Spanish anchovies, herbes de Provence croutons, $9), pizza with sausage and giardiniera, and Rossi Burger (a variation of our famous Club 185 cheeseburger; lettuce, onion, tomato, pickle, mayonnaise, $12) with Yukon Gold french fries. The salad was tasty and wet our appetites for the burger and pizza. I love giardiniera, thanks to my dad's Chicago side of the family, and it's even better than I thought it would be on pizza. The burger was great- well cooked with all the regular toppings, which made it a solid choice. The fries were so delicious, they were perfectly fried and salted, and since the Rossi uses Yukon Gold instead of Idaho, the fries are even more luscious in texture. If that doesn't do it for you, then the basil-lemon aioli might have to. It's great. Not only was our food spot on, but our server was amazing too. She was helpful and funny and immediately asked if we wanted our entrees to be split, which rarely happens anymore. I'd happily return and sit at the bar (they have a tv) and munch away on any of their menu offerings. Next trip I'll be trying entrees besides pizza and burgers, which the Rossi offers plenty of- so don't forget them! read more

So, this is a decent place, that might be outstanding if you go later in the evening to me. I was there at 5pm, and it was dead, as you would expect, but the food was still really good, the staff attentive, and it was generally a nice place to be. I ate pork belly to start with and it was excellent - especially the apple sauce it was served with. Then I had a ham and cheese sandwich (!) which again was good, but it was let down by fries that had been frozen, and had soaked up a lot of oil, and the oil tasted like it had probably not been changed all that recently. A bit underwhelming. However, I would go again. It was such a nice little place that I'm sure if it was filled with people, it would be a lot of fun, and the food was good enough to make me want to try again. read more

Went here on a Saturday afternoon. It was not busy inside and my party of 4 was seated immediately. The menu and decor seemed a little upscale for what we were after but I had heard good things about the pizza so we went for it. I am a bit of a pizza snob but their pizza was delicious. I ordered a large with sausage, which was enough for everybody to try a slice. You can really tell how fresh the ingredients are...it's called flavor. I usually judge a burger on whether it needs ketchup or not. Rossi's burger passes that test easily. It was juicy and seasoned very well. No Ketchup Required. I ordered a pint of Racer 5 and it was really really good. One thing to note is that even though they are known for burgers and pizza, this place has a lounge-type feel to it. My girlfriend and I stopped in on a Sunday night, it was my first time at Rossi and my first impression was i liked the interior and the vibe it gave off. We were immediately seated and out waitress came straight over to get our drink orders. I ordered a manhattan and it was delicious. We decided to order the pork belly appetizer to start things off but were informed they had run out earlier in the night. The server recommended the meatball instead and that ended up being a great recommendation because we loved it!! I ordered the duck leg pot pie for dinner and it was amazing. I'd never had anything like it before, it was a great variation from your typical chicken pot pie. Everything from the drinks to the food and even the service was great. My girlfriend ordered the salmon sandwich and liked the sandwich but the fries were short and should have been labeled as hash browns. I had the burger and it was decent and tasted like a generic burger. Nothing special. My fries were also small. I don't understand how you can mess up French fries whe other photos showed full length fries. You could not possibly dip these fries if you wanted to. read more

They messed up our check, waiter was not helpful...I had to write out each individual order and she still was inadequate and useless... a toddler could have been more helpful during than this pitiful dining experience than our waitress was.... Big fan of this small and unique place. You can't go wrong with just about anything on the menu and the cocktails are great. The staff has always been friendly, attentive, and made great suggestions. The only reason I don't give it 5 stars is the pricepoint is just a tad high for some menu items. Had dinner on new year's eve which admittedly meant a limited menu. I intentionally ordered light, getting a prosciutto wrapped salad. Sounded awesome, but it performed poorly. All the prosciutto was around the base of the leaves, with the tops all bare and sad. In order to get properly balanced bites, I had to disassemble it anyway. Whatever, no biggy. The major reason they only get 2 stars was for my friend's order & the service around it. He asked about an appetizer---whether it would be enough food for one person. The server proceeded to recite the exact description from the menu. No more. Quite unhelpful. When that was all he ordered, considering his concern, she probably should have mentioned it would not be nearly enough for a man of his stature. It was no more than 6 ounces of food, but cost more than an entire large pizza. The pizzas, on the other hand, did look good and worth the cost. read more

Where do I begin..... a group of 5 of us went to Rossi's before a play Saturday night. Let me say we are all mid 60's to the 80 year old mom. I had called that morning at 11:12 am to let them know 2 of the 5 of us are vegan no oil. Any thing on the menu you can suggest. The guy put me on hold and said he would speak to the kitchen staff. Came back and suggested pasta with marina or salads. I said could they steam any kind of vegetable? He said kitchen staff was in a meeting but he would let them know and just tell our server about this when we arrive! Also I mentioned our reservation was at 4:30 so hopefully not a very busy time! So the server comes and we all get a water and she asked if we wanted cocktails and we said sure. She brought over 1 cocktail menu and said here's the list and she said happy hour is til 6! We were all surprised they had happy hour on Saturday but not unheard of! So my husband and I had 2 glasses of the $6 red wine on the menu, mom had a white on the happy hour menu, the other 2 ladies did not have a drink but one wanted ice tea. My husband had talked to the bartender before our server came and ordered a special drink for himself. The bartender made his drink and I told him which red wine I wanted. Then the server comes and we placed moms white wine order . The server brought an empty wine glass over and it was quite awhile before the white wine came in the small flask. The other lady finally asked again about her ice tea and was old they had no ice tea. After the drinks were ordered I told the server about my call and she said she knew nothing about it and I suggested she talked to the kitchen staff. But I was very clear with her we are vegans and no oil!! She comes back after awhile and we place our orders. One lady a salad with salmon and dressing on the side, one lady the meatballs on the appetizer menu , a salad for her and calamari I believe. My husband and I said we would share a harvest salad no cheese, and a veggie pizza no cheese and the pasta with marina like the guy suggested earlier and mom got the spinach lasagna. So after some time passes food starts coming out. The one friends salad with dressing on it and she had requested the dressing on the side and no salmon was on it. They bring her another salad and awhile later the salmon on the side. The other friend got her calamari and after a bit her salad and our harvest salads. She asked about the meatball and was told they will bring that out with our meals. Our pizza comes out and was fairly burnt on the crust but we didn't complain. Mom has no apps or salad and after awhile asks for a piece of our pizza. Somewhere along this time we get switched to the GM for our server but was never told she was taking over. When the pasta came out it had cheese on it and the GM said we needed no cheese and was told we weren't clear with her. I had gone through the details with the server and figured she relayed the restrictions with her. We said we had asked for marina sauce and she said we don't have that even thought when the friend finally got her meatball it was in marina sauce. In the meantime the GM is constantly rolling her eyes , not being kind or not apologizing for the mistakes and just made us feel like we were totally a nuisance. Well finally out comes another pasta with bolognese sauce topped with ham!!!! My husband took a bite and said this is ham and our non vegan friends tasted and agreed it was ham. When the GM finally comes back I say we can't eat this and she said it's probably tomatoes. My husband suggest she tastes a piece of the ham and she says NO I'm allergic to ham!!!!!! I finally said take it off the bill we have to get to the play! If I were the owner of this restaurant I would not want this GM representing your company. I use to manage a huge event center with sometimes 1500 guests attending and eating. I have also been a server in private homes, colleges, CEO's at large corporate companies over 25 years and my husband also has been in this business over 12 years. This was the worse restaurant experience we have ever had and will NEVER return. The bartender was the only friendly person we came in contact with. When the bill came they did take off the pasta but we were charged 10 a glass for the wine! We questioned the first server about it and she said she it's not happy hour on Saturday !!!! All 5 of us heard her say happy hour til 6!!! First time in my life we left 0 tip!! The service was totally unprofessional and if you want to roll your eyes about your guests do it in the kitchen! The star is too high for the service but bartender would be a 5 star! read more
