The Rustic was one of the new places my fiancé and I had visited to try out while running errands on Saturday. We did come a bit early while they were still offering their brunch menus, but we were so hungry for lunch already! Our waiter recommended us to wait and brought the lunch menu ahead of time to see what they offered. As we were looking through the menu, the Cracklin' Deviled eggs caught our attention and ordered that as our appetizer. I will say, it was a bit underwhelming. I'm not sure what ingredients they used to season the egg yolk, but it tasted more like ginger or relish than anything else. I felt like if it had a bit more salt, pepper, and Dijon mustard, it would've been better. Now for the main course, we got recommended The Rustic Burger. Than one was great! It was juicy, tender, and very tasty with the green chili sauce. As you can tell, I completely forgot to take a picture of the burger. By the time it arrived to the table, we had inhaled it basically! Highly recommend the green chili sauce paired with the burger. Best for last was the dessert. A good ole banana pudding. This was not a small little glass of banana pudding, IT WAS HUGE!!! The cup you see is the same size as a drinking glass mason jar and we were too stunned to speak. Man, that banana pudding was so good that we were scrapping the cup to get every last bit of it. I take back anything that I said about the size. It was the perfect size because we were debating on whether or not to order another one. Overall, we were truly pleased with what we had ordered. In terms of price, expect to spend at least $45 dollars for a meal for two. The whole experience of The Rustic was worth it. There is live music and the atmosphere was amazing. There was a lot of space for the kiddos to play. There is inside seating, outside, benches, and big open spaces for dancing if you are into that. I've come here for years! I was told that my touching (tapped) the shoulder of one of the employees there as a friendly gesture was inappropriate. Never seen this greeter before! AsI fully support any protection for your employees I NEVER did more than BRIEFLY touch the shoulder of an employee. I tapped her shoulder. I was told I was being inappropriate!!! Again and this person chose to make my gesture as inappropriate!!! It wasn't even her! The person who complained was not even the same person. What place does this!!! I came here for a change in scenery. We've come here often. Everywhere we go people are happy people. I tip better than most. I will say that the manager (young lady) nice but the young man who took over threatened me to have security remove me. What was happening!!! He refused to hear my concerns about this. I never raised my voice or was disrespectful. Your restaurant needs better training. You should be quite careful to treat customers so badly. I'm actually shocked!!! I'm considering legal action to expose your horrible treatment to my wife. She was told to leave!!! I walked out because I felt so threatened and left my wife alone. I've been to this restaurant a few times and it used to be amazing. I always ordered the Texas hot chicken sandwich, and it was always thick, flavorful, and came with toast, pickles, and chips. Solid American fare that tries to be creative, but misses the mark in overall execution. For example, my salmon was way overcooked as was another table mates. I did enjoy the flavor and spice level of the spicy Caesar salad. The services also misses the mark. It was exceptionally slow and our server rarely checked in on us. We had to ask to order three times. 20 minutes after ordering, they informed one of my fellow table mates that they were out of the trout. To the restaurant's credit, they comped his meal and provided an extra discount. Atmospherically, the restaurant is huge and gets very noisy. It was impossible to hold a conversation. After hearing great things about The Rustic, we went in with high expectations for celebrating our anniversary with great food and live music. I made a reservation a month in advance and confirmed it but when we arrived the host could find no record of the reservation I had confirmed two days earlier. We were placed at an outdoor table where the noise from traffic on 610 made it challenging to hear any music. Then there was confusion over who should be serving the outdoor tables. we saw 4 different servers. Requested drink refills were not delivered. When the bill finally arrived, we waited 25 minutes for someone to pick up our payment before we headed to the bar to try to pay for it there so we could leave. Great drinks! Greta food! We got the dip sampler to start with and two of their burgers, salmon and the mushroom, the salmon burger was decent but the mushroom burger was amazing. It would've been five stars but service could've been better. We sat at the bar and it took a while to get drinks, and when we ordered the dip duo it came out with the food and not as an appetizer, and when we did get our food silverware was hard to flag down. It wasn't too busy but I understand the bartender was alone and had to serve everyone just hoped it would've been speedier. I wanted to celebrate my birthday with a group of 14 people (7 adults & 7 kids) and I saw helpful reviews about big groups at this location and about specific servers that provide great service. We sat close to the stage which was far enough away from others which was helpful with the energetic kids but the music can be very loud and hard to hold a conversation unless you are talking one on one. We ordered both the brunch family style and regular menu. Everyone really enjoyed their foods and barely had any to go. We had the brunch items and smoked dip duo as the appetizers. It was my first time trying pimento ever and it was really good! Three of the guests ordered the cedar plank salmon and devoured it. I got the beef tenderloin medium rare filet 6 oz with broccolini which was tender and pretty good for not an official steakhouse place. Someone ordered the portobello mushroom burger and it tasted so good that I didn't even feel like I was eating a mushroom. I don't like mushrooms at all so that was pretty amazing. The kids really enjoyed the chicken tenders and fries so we ended up ordering extra for them. We also got the Blue Razzleberry & Fruity Pebble Fizz drinks for the kids. They loved the presentation and cotton candy topping. I got a complimentary birthday dessert (peanut butter pie) which was super rich and very strong peanut butter taste! Underwhelming describes my experience. Burgers are decent, but there are better burgers in Houston. Saturday lunch has a very limited menu, not many choices to select from. Ice cream cake dessert was awesome. My biggest disappointment was the cocktail I ordered had no alcohol in it. I get tipsy very easily, but after downing my cocktail, I was Sunday School sober. I really think they scratched the alcohol on my drink. I can always feel a slight buzz after a drink, but this cocktail was no more than koolaid. With loud music it was sometimes hard to hear the people at my table talking, but if you enjoy C&W music, this might be your kinda place. Food was mostly just eeehhh. Her name is Kenya. She was so sweet funny outgoing and genuinely made my experience amazing I really hope this restaurant recognizes her for all that she does and giving me a wonderful and amazing experience that I have not had in a long time. She is also a new and the personality that she had and how she approaches this job she will be an amazing waiter, and to be honest she really deserves a raise to the Chef, I got the wedge salad with chicken. The food is more than just "bar food," they've got a great menu that shows a flare of fine dining and Texas. A must try is the Smoked Dip Duo, which is a smoked brisket fondue with spinach, cheddar that is served with their house smoked salt potato chips. They come to the table in a huge dome like cover and the waiter will lift it for you, so you can see all the smoke. Magic in your mouth! Another go-to for me is the Triple Chop, which is a wood grilled bone-in pork chop that is smothered in ancho-lime butter. You won't regret it!! If you're more of a chicken fan, their Roasted Half Chicken is so delicious, as it's lathered in garlic, salted butter and rosemary. Full of flavor and cooked so well! My favorite desert is either their Peanut Butter Pie, which is a chocolate ganache that's topped with roasted peanuts and bittersweet chocolate sauce, or their Ice Box S'Mores with its marshmallow whipped cream, bittersweet chocolate sauce, graham crackers and house-made marshmallow. This was one of those "this place looks good" stops. It was meh. The interior has that repurposed industrial feel to it, but was likely purpose built. The food was average. The Texas hot chicken was more like chic fil a, with no spice at all, just on "Texas toast" that looked more like generic white bread. Having just been in Nashville, it was a huge disappointment. The sandwich comes with no side, so you have to order that too. The Texas tamales were good, but the 11.45 price tag for the serving size made me feel like I was being nickel and dimed. David's service was lack luster. When we asked about what they're ere famous for he covered 2/3 of the menu saying it's good, it's good, then pushed alcohol.
