Great place for live music, good drinks and good food in the Uptown/ Post Oak Houston area!! The food is more than just "bar food," they've got a great menu that shows a flare of fine dining and Texas. A must try is the Smoked Dip Duo, which is a smoked brisket fondue with spinach, cheddar that is served with their house smoked salt potato chips. They come to the table in a huge dome like cover and the waiter will lift it for you, so you can see all the smoke. Magic in your mouth! Another go-to for me is the Triple Chop, which is a wood grilled bone-in pork chop that is smothered in ancho-lime butter. You won't regret it!! If you're more of a chicken fan, their Roasted Half Chicken is so delicious, as it's lathered in garlic, salted butter and rosemary. Full of flavor and cooked so well! My favorite desert is either their Peanut Butter Pie, which is a chocolate ganache that's topped with roasted peanuts and bittersweet chocolate sauce, or their Ice Box S'Mores with its marshmallow whipped cream, bittersweet chocolate sauce, graham crackers and house-made marshmallow. This was one of those "this place looks good" stops. It was meh. The interior has that repurposed industrial feel to it, but was likely purpose built. The food was average. The Texas hot chicken was more like chic fil a, with no spice at all, just on "Texas toast" that looked more like generic white bread. Having just been in Nashville, it was a huge disappointment. The sandwich comes with no side, so you have to order that too. The Texas tamales were good, but the 11.45 price tag for the serving size made me feel like I was being nickel and dimed. David's service was lack luster. When we asked about what they're ere famous for he covered 2/3 of the menu saying it's good, it's good, then pushed alcohol. I did not have any food while I was here. So I cannot speak to that, but some friends and I stopped in for a a couple of drinks. I had the hibiscus ranch water, and I did not like it. While the color was a very rich fuchsia color, it did not taste anything like hibiscus. In general, I love ranch water, and it is my go to drink, but this was incredibly strong and not in an enjoyable way. My group tried a couple of the cocktails listed, and we did really enjoy any of them. I think it was a balance of the ingredients and the alcohol use, I would highly suggest if you get a cocktail from the menu to suggest the brand of alcohol you would like. Other than that, the service was good, and when I took a look at the menu, they seem to have an excellent weekend brunch. I can't speak to the taste, but the price is alone peaked my interest and would encourage me to return to try it out. read more

Shared a tamales with a friend and it was the size of half of your hand and it was $15 for it . I've been to the Rustic a few times since it's a nice place to meet up with people, grab some drinks and decent food. Overall, the food is pretty good. I do like thuê appetizers, especially their smoked dip duo, meatballs, and deviled eggs. They also have some unique items like the cactus fries. Their main entrees are alright. The salads are decent and the burgers are good, but I'm never really wowed by their entrees. I have tried their salmon before and it was alright. The pricing for the food is a bit on the pricy side for what it is, but their happy hour deals are pretty good. Another good deal is to go for their brunch since they have a good variety of food for around $20/person. The one thing that really gets me is the service is never great. I've been here many times and it's always a hit or miss with service, more times than not, it was a miss. Service can be pretty slow, even if there's not much of a crowd. I see a lot of the servers just hanging out along the wall and it's so hard to get their attention. I've had to get my own silverware and refill my water multiple times whenever I eat here. They also do a really bad job of splitting checks, so I would recommend paying with one card and figuring it out on your own. If you go for happy hour, I would double check your check as well. We had like 5 different items where they charged us the wrong price or charged full price because even though we ordered the food 30 minutes before happy hour ended, our service took his time, didn't put it in, and forgot about it until we reminded him again and by then it was past the happy hour pricing. I would also double check their drinks menu for the happy hour because they have it as one price, but it can come out as full price when they enter it in, so just make sure to check before you pay. Came here this past Sunday with a group of friends to try their family style brunch. I love that they offer this. It's very unique. I haven't been to a restaurant yet in Houston that offers a family style brunch. My guess is they give you a serving per person as there were eight of us we all had a serving of each dish to try. I was hesitant to try the eggs and micas, but it was pretty good with the poblano sauce on top. The bacon was thick and crispy. The French toast was good, but I wish it had more syrup on it. The hot chicken is always a hit here can't go wrong with ordering it. Was not a fan of the avocado toast was just bland avocado on hard bread. Biscuits and gravy could have been my favorite, but it definitely needs a touch of more seasoning to it. It lacks flavor in the gravy. The fingerling style potatoes were actually good. The horseradish can be a little overpowering though. I feel like it's a good value for $20 per person. We also opted to order a bottle of champagne over doing the carafe for our mimosas as the carafes are $10 and they're pretty small. We got more bang for our buck by ordering the $30 champagne bottles. Our server wasn't the most attentive we were looking for him a few times throughout our dining experience. Highly recommend their Saturday/Sunday brunch! There was so much food for the price point, and everything was delicious. The best part was someone in our group has a nut allergy, and they were kind enough to have someone come over to ask more details about the severity of the allergy. They then brought out a whole separate brunch serving/plating that didn't have anything that was close to any nuts. Such amazing customer service! Our favorite dish was the cheesy hash browns and for me personally, the salad! The space is indoor/outdoor and it was extremely large with a ton of seating. They also have live music here. I must admit that this was an extremely disappointing experience. I had a party over 20 people that I reserved a table for(weeks in advance). We made our reservation for 8pm. I called and spoke with James who identified as the manager on shift at the time, he verified that he had us down for 8 and that we could add the extra seats as needed in order for us to all sit together in the restaurant. He also stated he would be there on Saturday to assist if needed and that there were no other parties or events taking place...that it would be an "easy evening". When arriving, our table was not ready and we were not actually seated until 9:30pm, an hour and a half after our reservation. We had a group of nearly 20 people waiting in the small front area for an hour and a half...with a cake that they refused to put away for us(due to not wanting to be liable for it). This would have been fine if we didn't have to stand there for so long. Not to mention....the host making a joke "it's cold out, you can go stand outside with it if you're worried about it melting". I wasn't worried about the temperature of the cake, I was worried about the fact that it's a cake for a large group and we are waiting in a high traffic area with barely enough room to even stand, much alone hold a cake. Much less, the joke was uncalled for and incredibly insensitive giving the nature of what we were already dealing with. The manager present didn't apologize for the wait. He said the other parties before us "weren't leaving" and he "couldn't do anything". He offered for us to sit outside which we didn't prefer, due to the cold, rainy weather and us booking here in hopes of listening to live music. When we were finally seated, we were taken to two separate tables where my group had to be split. I was told this would not be the case prior to coming, AND figured we would at least be able to sit together, given the incredibly long wait. I could note that the server we were given was not very personable or kind to our group. I don't know if it was due to the fact that it was a large group or the time of evening but again, this was out of our control. She walked away from me when I was ordering at two different times. She told half of the table that the bar was out of coffee and couldn't make a certain bar drink, but proceeded to take one to someone at the other end of the table. She did not follow up with us on ordering drinks or assisting with our needs. It was extremely evident that she wasn't particularly happy to have us. I don't know what couldve necessarily been done about the experience but I relayed the message to the event coordinator that ensured I'd get a call from the restaurant manager(which never happened, this was over 2 weeks ago). I will definitely not consider this establishment in the future for large parties or events. read more

I came here for my second time ever on Sunday night and picked up a takeout of Half Rosemary Roasted Chicken and a Twice-Baked Potato just like my first visit. These are my main go-to here and was very pleased with both on both visits total. They were both very delicious, very soft underneath with some crisp on top, good quality and very nicely seasoned. The chicken was very good, juicy, easy to cut and really herby without being over / under done since rosemary can be pretty strong in high amounts. It was a high quality poultry, which comes in handy with the flavor. In texture terms; very tender flesh with very slightly crispy skin as roasted chicken should be imo. The potato side was the essence of savoriness and one of the tastiest potatoes I ever had. I have said this before ever since my initial visit to this place. The cheddar, starchiness and bacon vibes came together so well making it such a worthy spud to consume. A lot of baked potatoes can be dry or hard in restaurants, but this one was fluffy with both some crisp and chew. Great, friendly service again as my first visit back in 2022. read more

I came here on a bustling Sunday morning with some friends, and we enjoyed the family-style brunch. For $18 a person, we enjoyed some awesome brunch dishes that included fried chicken (not very spicy), green kale salad, eggs with cheddar and spinach, bacon and sausage, cheese and potato hash, and the crown jewel, the french toast. There was also a lovely grazing dish with cheese and crackers, fruit, and some small muffins (blueberry/poppyseed). My favorite dish was the french toast - it was cut in perfect, almost bite-size portions with a lovely hint of rosemary in both the toast and the syrup itself. I also ordered a zero proof hibiscus mockarita for $5, which while refreshing, was not super flavorful and in fact a bit tart, but aesthetically pleasing in a deep purple color. This place hosts live music, so be sure to plan for (or around) their schedule based on your party's preference as the music can be quite loud. I enjoyed the open air seating, and there looked like ample space for groups of any size. Overall, I would recommend this place to anyone in the area looking for a fun brunch! read more

I highly recommend the onion rings and especially the triple pork chop, which is enough for two people. (But get here early for this dish, as the restaurant runs out early.) I came here during their brunch and was hoping for a full menu, but the items they had were good enough. I wasn't too hungry, so I didn't pick the brunch option. I ordered a burger, not knowing what I was getting into. Turns out their burger is actually really good. I thoroughly enjoyed it since it was an elevated burger. During the day, there was no live music, and the restaurant was pretty wide open, but by the time I left, it was completely full. I've been to the downtown location (parking is horrendous but it feels bigger/more spacious inside). This location shares a parking lot with a shopping center so parking is ample. There's inside/outside seating just like the downtown location and live music throughout the week. The menu is the same (prices here aren't super expensive but not cheap). I got the Texican Candy (usually get the Legendary Margarita with the popsicle but I decided to try something new for a change...regretted that, the Texican Candy barely had any watermelon flavor), green tea shot (my preferred shot), avocado salad with salmon filet (dressing was nonexistent), and fries with jalapeño ranch (perfect). The service by Giselle(?) was superb! She was friendly and attentive. The venue was great and busy on a Friday night but not packed. I can't wait to come back. read more
