I'm an addict. And Rustic Wrench is my 'fixer'/'dealer' When I first came to Rustic Wrench it was to get a second opinion on a water pump. I have a 2011 Lincoln MKT and unbeknownst to anyone but Ford/Lincoln engineers the engine has to be removed to get to the water pump. Rustic wrench convinced me 1. 'The car is worth fixing' just what I wanted to hear. 2. They could and did fix it for a fourth of the price that the other shop quoted. I was 'Hooked' Since that day I've had almost everything, bumper to bumper fixed, replaced or repaired, except the engine and transmission (the transmission has been "flushed out") Words that kept me 'hooked': the car is worth it, you'll get 1/2 million miles out of that car, it's cheaper than making car payments. All music to my ears. Now, I've been made to wonder if I was too emotionally attracted to my car. New words that I've heard (not from Rustic Wrench) 'taken advantage of' 'senior abuse' From July of 2021 till July 2025 the MKT has made no less than 10 visits to Rustic Wrench and I've spent $15,107 in repairs. Credit to Rustic Wrench they have "warranty work" of $3970 for a total of $19,077. Kenny Rogers's song 'the gamble': "know when to hold em know when to fold em". Rustic Wrench, the dealer, the fixer won't tell you when to 'fold' Have a friend who will stop you if you don't have the will power Having said all this Rustic Wrench knows their stuff, yes they got some bad parts Most of all, know when to stop pouring your money into a car that is not worth it. After spending $3200 with them replacing parts which were just replaced, a found the real problem with another mechanic: my timing chain and gears were worn at 192,000 miles to create the misfire problem. I don't know if there is a real mechanic over there. They just read codes and replace parts without considering what the real problem is, or how much it will cost the owner. read more

I usually do my own mechanical work, but I didn't have the time and hoped I could trust The Rustic Wrench to handle a simple A/C issue. The system worked fine -- it just wasn't holding Freon and had a leak that needed to be fixed. Instead of diagnosing the leak properly, RJ tried to upsell me on replacing the entire system for $2,600. That's ridiculous when all it needed was a proper inspection and the specific leak repaired. After hearing about how great this place was on Facebook, I decided to give them a try. My truck needed a front brake job, including new rotors, so I contacted them through Yelp. Thomas responded to me immediately, and his price quote was more than fair. I scheduled an appointment, and crossed my fingers..... The shop is a bit off the beaten path, but it was well worth the trip. The guys were super friendly and accommodating. The waiting room was clean, with complimentary coffee and water. A soda machine is there as well. The work was done in a timely manner, and I am very happy with my new brakes! Will definitely be giving them more of my business in the future. The Rustic wrench is a competitive and comprehensive auto repair location. They also do many other things trucks RVs, etc. They are not right off the road but worth the trip. Some of the prices quoted to me by other entities or sometimes 10 and 20% higher or more, I made an appointment completed the work on the time promised. They did a thorough inspection and noticed other options as well, but did not pressure me to immediately have them performed. Overall, at this point a good job. read more

I was in from out of town and discovered my mom's air conditioning didn't work. She had a quote of 1400 dollars, which seemed to be really high. I looked around and found this shop. I will admit the first thing that made me call was that it was veteran owned. That is important to me. I contacted them and received a quote that was much more reasonable. The staff is really kind and very helpful. It is a busy shop and I would suggest making a reservation for routine repairs. However, when I explained I was only in town another day, they were able to work me in the next morning. They had a few classic cars in the shop being worked on. That should tell you they do good work. The classic car crews do not let just anyone work on their cars. It is a little out in the bookies, but make the drive. I just brought my car in for a coolant leak and this place definitely gave me a bad deal. They at first told me I need my hoses and some caps replaced (ex: radiator cap) because the seals were bad, and told me it would be $700. I told them to move forward with what they need to do since I do not have the parts or tools right now to fix it myself. They called me again a few hours later saying something else was wrong (I apologize I am blanking on the part) and that now the total is up to $1200. I said "just fix the leak so my car doesn't leak and overheat and don't do anything else". So they are finishing their install and some guy calls me about air being trapped in the system and I might not get my car back that night. I was understanding and said "ok." Not even 5 minutes later another guy calls me and says "yeah, your car is still overheating I think you need a new thermostat" to which I replied "how much is that?" He then said "$2000+ (don't recall exact quote but it was over $2000). I said "No, as long as the leak is fixed I'll fix that later. Picked up my car shortly after and thankfully the leak was fixed after poor communication and quite the up-charge. I have since looked through my engine all parts look the same other than maybe one hose. So I am curious how much they actually fixed or they just pay their technicians a crap load of money an hour, either way I don't recommend and I am bummed because from reviews this place should be good. They have a nice shop but it is out of the way and out in the boonies, so be aware they might try to drag you along for all you're worth. read more

These guys and hand down pros! I had just gotten some work done at a high end dealership in Scottsdale and something didn't feel right when I accelerated. I pulled into the Rustic Wrench and they quickly pulled my truck onto the lift, right away Mike & Thomas the owners had me come out to look at missing bolts on my u-joints that holds my axel onto the truck. My husband and I chose to take our truck here because it had such great reviews. BIG MISTAKE. We were told, and I have in writing, that the diagnostic would be free to figure out what was going on with the AC. That was a lie apparently and the person we talked to said he didn't offer it, so he couldn't honor it. Not to mention that they charged us $400 to tell us they THINK they know what's wrong, but would be another $1000 for them to continue investigating and POSSIBLY fix the problem. I do not recommend this place to anyone and will not be going back. I had a unique request and ask if I could get Truck Camper support braces transferred from one truck to another as I sold my truck camper. Time was important as the buyer had driven from Georgia and wanted to minimize the time he had to stay while picking up the camper. I ask Rustic Wrench Mike the owner if he could do it. He said, it's only nuts and bolts and sure. They got us into the shop at open and turn to quickly and efficiently to transfer hitches and mounting hardware to secure the camper to the new truck. Beware! took my car in for an alignment a few months ago. Had a bald front tire. They kept me waiting for two and a half hours and said they couldn't do the alignment because I needed a whole new front end, over 5k in repairs. I was suspicious because I had just had my front end repaired, new rocker arms, whole works, two years ago for an accident. I took it to my regular mechanic (didn't realize they did alignments) and there was absolutely nothing wrong with my car. Nothing. $225, full service and alignment. I have a hard time trusting anyone anymore. The world is lacking integrity. Don't know where all the five star reviews come from for this business. I called during business hours on Monday and had to leave a voicemail, which is totally fine. I am a local to AJ and they are two miles from me and prefer to always support local businesses. I need to have my truck diagnosed and serviced for a check engine issue. Unfortunately I never received a call back to get scheduled so my review is purely for the lack of response. I can't speak to any of the service quality or experience other than unable to get contacted by this business. I'm going to try Firestone next to see if I can get my needs taken care of. As an update, the owner reached out and was able to explain they have had phone issues. They were able to get me in right away. The communication from there was great and they worked to get the issue with my truck handled, even with the warranty provider pushing back. They have some great coffee choices, free wifi and complementary chapstick (WHAT??)... I got started with an oil change that includes tire rotation and inspection of the major components. STAY AWAY!!!!!! THEY WILL RIP YOU OFF!!!!! If could give negative stars it would be -5 I brought my sons 1989 ford f150 in because the rear pinion seal was leaking. I waited almost a week for an appointment. After speaking to the office manager when dropping the truck off on Monday morning she said they would let me know when it was ready to be picked up. Before I left I asked if they could give me a quote for replacing the clutch slave cylinder. After they have had my truck for over four hours I get a call from Thomas he informs me my rear pinion seal is not leaking and is in good working order... Thomas then tells me that my truck needs a radiator flush and a brake fluid flush and the front wheel bearings are loose, they will need repacking and new seals. the truck also needs the valve covers replaced because they are leaking and a oil change.... Here is where it gets interesting...... Not more than 2 months ago I replaced the water pump and flushed the radiator... Changing the coolant ..but yet I was advised my truck needed a radiator flush and coolant replacement.. I asked Thomas to give me a quote for replacing the valve cover gaskets and changing the engine oil and replacing the clutch slave cylinder.. Thomas tells me with all those things its just under $900.. I said great do it.. I explained to Thomas I needed the truck by Friday he replied I will have it ready Thursday.. perfect I get a call from the office manager saying that they might not have my truck ready till Monday or Tuesday after I had explained to Thomas very clearly I needed it by Friday... I then get a call from Thomas telling me the cost of everything is going to be over $1300 because he quoted me an external slave cylinder not an internal unit. all this after having my truck for over 3 days and having it up on a lift so they could tell me all of the other things I need to fix on my truck. I tell him nope don't touch my truck.. you have had my truck and looked at it for more than 3 days... so I tell him I will pick it up DON'T TOUCH IT... Thomas then proceeds to tell me they have already changed the oil and valve cover gaskets and I owe them $669 and some change... yes that's right for an oil change and valve cover gaskets! If you read the other reviews most are good EXCEPT the one where he did this same thing to a different customer.. A female customer...I feel the same as this customer does... lied to and taking advantage of.. save yourself the trouble and stay away from this business.... UNLESS YOU LIKE PAYING FOR THINGS YOUR CAR DOESN'T NEED!!!!! read more
